Kamala Will Announce Her VP Choice This Weekend – DNC Will Hold Virtual Roll Call Nomination as Scheduled – Then on to Chicago, no Issues

Well, there’s the answers.  The DNC has announced they will proceed with the roll call vote for nomination next Wednesday [link].  That puts Kamala on track to announce her VP selection around this weekend.  And the cherry on the cake is Eric Holder doing the vetting for the Harris campaign.

Right on track, the process seamless.  Almost as if this was the plan all along.  lol

July 22 (Reuters) – Former Attorney General Eric Holder and his law firm, Covington & Burling LLP, will conduct vetting of potential running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign for the U.S. presidency, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Harris is running for the Democratic presidential nomination after President Joe Biden announced on Sunday he was stepping aside.

A campaign spokesperson for Harris declined to comment. (more)

The top list of the VP possibilities are:

• Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, • Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, • Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, • Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, • North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, • California Gov. Gavin Newsom, • Illinois Governer JB Pritzker, • Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, and • Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Which one do you think Obama will select?

My bet is on Mark Kelly.

(Politico) – Delegates to the Democratic convention could begin voting on the party’s presidential and vice presidential nominees as early as next week, under a draft plan released Monday by the Democratic National Committee.

The proposal is scheduled to be taken up on Wednesday by members of the DNC’s Convention rules committee.

Such a timeline, if it were implemented, could result in Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden’s endorsed successor, selecting her running mate by the middle of next week.

Harris, who announced her own bid just 24 hours ago, has already effectively cleared the field of would-be challengers. She’s drawn a cascade of endorsements, from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to every Democratic governor in the country, many of whom have their own national ambitions.

In a call with reporters Monday night, the DNC previewed their nomination rules, which they pledged would represent a “transparent, swift and orderly process,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. The DNC committed to a virtual nomination process back in May, defending against any Republican-backed legal challenges that might keep them off the ballot, particularly in Ohio.

“We will deliver a presidential nominee by Aug. 7 of this year,” Harrison added.

The DNC laid out three qualifications to be considered for the nomination: A candidate must file a formal declaration of candidacy with the DNC, meet party and legal qualifications to be president and secure at least 300 delegate signatures, no more than 50 of whom come from one state delegation. The DNC said it would provide a delegate directory to those candidates who were interested in running for the nomination.

The nomination process, depending on how many candidates qualify, will be completed between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7. (read more)

Since the media is shining a light on Trump’s affair, it is only fair to point out similar actions taken by those on the other side of the aisle. Kamala Harris is not a particularly intelligent or charismatic individual, but she managed to work her way to the top by dating men in positions of power. In the 1990s, 29-year-old Kamala Harris dated married 60-year-old San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. Harris was 31 years younger than Brown, who was married with a family at home.

Harris accompanied Brown on his campaign trail and made connections along the way. She cannot deny the affair and claims that it is now “an albatross hanging around my neck.” Clinton used to call Brown “the real Slick Willie” for his playboy ways, which is saying something coming from blue dress Bill. “The measure of his flamboyance is he’ll go to a party with his wife on one arm and his girlfriend on the other,” James Richardson, a reporter for the Sacramento Bee told People Magazine in 1996.

Kamala Harris secured a job at the California Medical Assistance Commission through Slick Willie, although she had no medical background. He also appointed her to the state’s Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. She was later appointed as the district attorney in San Francisco in 2004. Meanwhile, Slick Willie was under investigation for gifting his friends city contracts. He never came under fire for promoting Harris to positions of power. But by then, Harris was on her way to becoming attorney general and did not need the support of her older married boyfriend. “His career is over. I will be alive and kicking for the next 40 years. I do not owe him a thing,” Kamala shrewdly stated. Still, Brown assisted her in her 2016 bid for the Senate and spoke favorably of her over the years.

Harris refuses to acknowledge that her time as Slick Willie’s mistress is what propelled her career. Brown is not remaining quiet. “I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker. And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco. I have also helped the careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and a host of other politicians. The difference is that Harris is the only one who, after I helped her, sent word that I would be indicted if I ‘so much as jaywalked’ while she was D.A. That’s politics for ya.”

But it is (D)ifferent! And that, folks, is how the leading world power found its second-in-command with absolutely no qualifications for the job.
