State Department Moving Toward Mass Visa Cancellation Impacting 200,000 Unlawful Entrants

Two significant media reports on the topic of immigration today.

The first is an AP report showing the State Dept is planning to revoke 200,000 visas that were given after illegal entrants claimed asylum status.  The second is DHS requiring $100,000 payment for each H1B visa sought by companies to bring in foreign workers

  WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is preparing to revoke the business and tourism visas of up to 200,000 foreigners who have applied for or are currently seeking asylum status in the United States. If it happens, the move would be the largest single mass revocation of visas in U.S. history and would likely face legal challenges.

Unless challenged or revised, the State Department is expected to announce in the coming weeks the revocation of so-called B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 whose holders have sought asylum or are now seeking asylum, according to State Department documents obtained by The Associated Press and two U.S. officials. The action will be taken in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security.

“We are coordinating with DHS to identify and revoke the nonimmigrant visas of foreigners who have come to the United States claiming to be short-term visitors, but then file for asylum to stay here permanently,” said State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott. (more)

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has proposed a more than $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applications for skilled foreign workers, a policy that the president introduced last year but had been blocked by a federal judge.

[…] In June, a federal judge blocked Trump’s bid to impose the six-figure fee, concluding that it was an unlawful “tax” that required congressional approval.

But the Department of Homeland Security revived the proposal on Monday, submitting it online in the Federal Register to be officially published on Tuesday, when a 30-day public-comment period will commence. And the administration is now proposing $103,265 for all new H-1B visa petitions.

The White House declined to comment and referred POLITICO to a statement by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a DHS department, that said the payments would support “immigration programs that otherwise must be funded by taxpayers,” according to USCIS spokesperson Zach Kahler.

The White House has also said the fee would help curb misuse of the H-1B program, accusing U.S. employers of undercutting American workers with lower-paid foreign labor.

According to Monday’s proposal, the fee would help generate revenue to fund immigration activities carried out by federal agencies including Customs and Border Protection and ICE. DHS said there may be “a reduction in the number of H-1B cap registrations and some employers, including small entities, may file fewer petitions as a result of this proposed rule.” But it concluded that the fee was “appropriate.”

H-1B approvals are capped at 85,000 per year, with 20,000 spots for people with advanced degrees. Nearly 400,000 petitions, most of which were for renewal, were approved in fiscal year 2024. The majority of H-1B workers come from India, with the second-most common birthplace being China. (read more)

Deport all illegal aliens.  The deportation goal should be 1 million/month.

Cancel all H1B visas.  No renewals. They are being abused.

Cancel all J1 (temp work) Visas. They too are being abused.

Eliminate all domestic U.S. businesses that are modeled and incorporated to facilitate foreign visa assistance.

Cancel the govt contracts and non-tax status for all 501(c) groups who structurally support illegal migrants.

President Trump Lifts Tariff Quota on Imported Beef for 90 Days to Relieve Price Stress

President Donald Trump announced today that import quotas on beef will be lifted for a period of 90-days in an effort to remove pricing stress on cattle and give U.S. ranchers an opportunity to restore herd head count.

The short-term effort is directed to lower consumer prices, while in the longer term the U.S. cattle industry undergoes market-based reforms to eliminate monopolistic industrial practices.

Trade Talks Collapse – Prime Minister Carney Talking Alot, President Trump Remains Quiet

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is delivering speeches, holding press conferences and trying to justify his position following the collapse of negotiations between the USA and Canada.  Meanwhile, President Trump and his trade team are intentionally quiet.

In all high-stakes negotiations, deals and financial issues, the apex predators always know you make your point clearly and without reservation, you establish your terms and then you don’t say anything. Total silence. The first person to break the silence is the losing hand. Once your terms are established you stay quiet and then let the other party talk, talk, and talk themselves to yes. Mark Carney is telling everyone his position and trying to justify what has taken place.  Mark Carney is in a very weak position on both structure and substance of the issues. [I wrote a lengthy explanation HERE]

Within this segment Carney tries to explain what the USA requests were that Canada would not agree to.  He notes the U.S. wanted strict control over Canada’s free trade agreements (FTAs) with other countries.  What Carney fails to note is that this exists already, right now in the USMCA [Article 32:10 of the USMCA].  The U.S. has termination rights to both Canada and Mexico FTAs with other countries.  This is an example of Carney gaslighting Canadians.

In reality, Canada wants unlimited and unrestricted access to the U.S. market as if they were a 51st state.  However, Canada will not permit unlimited and unrestricted access to their market for U.S. companies.  This, Carney says, compromises the sovereignty of Canada. WATCH:

Talks Collapse – Tariffs Begin Now – A Direct and Confrontational U.S-Canada Trade War is Now a Reality

Moments ago, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered the news via his X account.  Discussions between the U.S and Canada have collapsed. All trade representatives are called back home.  The 50% U.S. tariffs against Canada are now in effect.  A trade war begins.

First, read the statement from Prime Minister Mark Carney, with the understanding that Carney is making the first statement because the news is exceptionally bad for Canada.  Worse than bad.

When the 3-day tariff pause was announced, CTH said to be cautious.  When USTR Jamieson Greer and Canadian negotiator Dominic LeBlanc said the terms were “basically agreed”, again CTH said be careful.

The reason for our notes of extreme caution is because the divide between the two economies and trade policy is just too big.  There was no way for both sides to close the gap without major structural economic changes within Canada.  The issues are not points of friction, they are just too big and embedded within the laws of Canada that would have to change.

Banking regulations would have to change. Intellectual property and media rules, regulations and laws would have to change.  Industrial policy would have to change.  The Canadian energy policy would have to change.  The carbon trading scheme would have to change or be removed.  All of this would fall upon Canada to carry out in order to position their economy in alignment with the USA.  There’s literally no way for their government to accomplish this against the backdrop of their political ideology.

That was the structural argument and point made by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.  This is also why the USMCA as a trilateral trade agreement is impossible to maintain.  The only trade agreement construct possible is two clearly separate bilateral free trade agreements, one with Mexico and one with Canada.

The 50% tariffs begin tonight.

A trade war is underway.

“Tonight, Canada declined to finalize the trade deal under the terms agreed earlier this week.

Despite the U.S. offer to Canada to receive the best treatment of any major exporter to our market, new demands and walk backs of other commitments by Canada have upended the careful balance reached in the past days. In addition, Canada is continuing to maintain its prolonged retaliation against the United States, including, among other things, flat-out prohibitions on certain American goods and services.

For decades, Canada has enjoyed the most favorable access to the U.S. market of any country. And from the beginning of President Trump’s trade program, Canada has continued to enjoy the best treatment in the world, even after – like China – retaliating against the United States. This week, the United States agreed to provide even better treatment to Canada, offering significant tariff reductions on steel, aluminum, autos, and lumber.

The U.S. offer was also forward looking, and included a historic economic and national security partnership to cooperate on export controls, combat transshipment, enhance digital trade, and align certain external tariffs. The offer would have led to supply chain coordination on aerospace, complementary actions to address unfair trade practices, critical minerals cooperation, increased enforcement against imports produced with forced labor, and the announcement of formal U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) negotiations.

This is a missed opportunity for Canada to partner with the United States, which is the fastest growing economy in the G7.”

FBI Seizes Devices Belonging to Eric Swalwell During Investigation of Rape and Sexual Misconduct

Generally speaking, when the FBI seizes devices it’s usually to bury them and protect affected interests in/around Washington DC. Rarely, if ever, does the confiscation of electronic devices result in any public awareness of the contents – unless the release runs in alignment with the interests of those in Washington DC.

EX. If it was the confiscation of electronic devices deemed adverse to the interest of DC (Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Scott Perry, Mike Lindell, etc.) then the content of those devices is publicly exposed. However, most confiscations are to protect the guilty – therefore they are buried. SEE: Hunter Biden laptop, Huma Abedin laptop, Anthony Weiner cell phones, Hillary Clinton phone(s) and laptops; Awan Brothers laptops (4) and phones; Seth Rich phone and laptop; Jeffrey Epstein, phones, laptops, hard drives; Stephen Craig Paddock phones and laptops, Syed Rizwan Farook/Tashfeen Malik cell phones, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev phones and laptops; Senator Bob Menendez, phones and laptops etc.

Therefore, accepting things as they are most likely – and not as we would prefer them to be – it is best to think of the recent story as one of protecting the downstream issues from Eric Swalwell, as they are associated during his tenure as a targeting conduit for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) and later as a Trump impeachment manager and J6 Committee official.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal agents seized electronic devices from former Rep. Eric Swalwell and searched his Washington home as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by the ex-Democratic congressman from California, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Swalwell’s devices were seized at the San Francisco airport on Saturday and agents executed a search warrant at his home a day later, said the person, who was not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

A message seeking comment was left Thursday with an attorney for Swalwell, who has denied allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. The Daily Mail first reported the seizure of Swalwell’s devices on Thursday.

Swalwell announced his resignation from Congress in April following allegations that Swalwell had sexually assaulted a woman twice, including when she worked for him. The San Francisco Chronicle, followed by CNN, first reported the allegations. CNN also reported that three other women alleged various kinds of sexual misconduct by Swalwell, including sending them unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos.

[…] A lawyer representing Lonna Drewes, a California woman who in April said she had been raped in 2018 by Swalwell, said his team was cooperating with all law enforcement agencies investigating the former congressman.

“We are encouraged to learn about the escalation of the FBI’s investigation into the allegations against Eric Swalwell,” attorney Arick Fudali said in a statement. (read more)

Former Ukraine Defense Minister Calls for Elections as Second Ukrainian Arrested for Nordstream Bombing

The timing of these events is remarkable. Almost so remarkable that one might think they are intentionally sequenced.

It started yesterday when the very popular former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov issued a striking warning about Ukraine’s government, corruption, and the need to develop an immediate mechanism for elections even while the war against Russia continues.

There is a great deal of support for Mykhailo Fedorov within Ukraine, as many people see him as a stronger and yet more pragmatic representative of the people.  Fedorov holds strongest support from those under 50 years old, and yesterday he diplomatically called for Ukraine to organize elections in order to retain position as a democracy.

VIA CBS – The former defense minister acknowledged the difficulties of holding a vote during the war, including how to ensure soldiers, people who live near the front line and Ukrainians who fled the war can cast their ballots.  “This is complex. … But complexity does not mean impossibility,” Fedorov said. (Citation)

In the background, the frustration of the Ukrainian people is bubbling up to the surface. In part because the hunters the Zelenskyy regime has hired to go find conscripts are now seen as living a life of indulgence.  The conscript hunters who take the men off the streets are earning $150k targeting their own people for forced military service. The people are furious.

Simultaneous to this public statement about elections released by Fedorov, the anti-corruptions agencies in Ukraine announced investigations directly related to Zelenskyy’s government itself.  It looks like Fedorov knew this was coming.

UKRAINE – Ukraine’s ⁠anti-graft agencies ​said on Wednesday ​they had uncovered a group including a presidential official ​that ‌had laundered ⁠150 million hryvnias ($3.35 ‌million) used to pay for bail ⁠in an energy corruption scheme.

Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies launched a ​special operation against lawmakers and presidential advisers on Wednesday, hours before a key vote in parliament for a new defence ​minister ‌aimed at cementing a shake-up by President ⁠Volodymyr Zelensky.

The NABU ​and SAPO ‌agencies said in a YouTube video the ‌group comprised a deputy head ​of the presidential office, a former lawmaker, heads of ​the management ​and supervisory boards ​of a state-owned bank and ​others.

[…] The probe ‌poses a fresh headache for Zelensky after ousted defence ⁠chief Mykhailo Fedorov called for wartime elections in a bombshell statement late on Tuesday. (read more)

As if that wasn’t bad enough, even more news broke that puts a very negative light on the Ukrainian government.

BERLIN (AP) — A Ukrainian man was arrested Wednesday in Croatia in connection with the 2022 undersea explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines between Russia and Germany, Germany’s federal prosecutor said.

Ukrainian national Vladimir Z., whose last name was not given in line with German privacy rules, was arrested in Pula, Croatia, by local police acting on a European arrest warrant.

“Vladimir Z. is a trained scuba diver who was part of a group of individuals who planted explosives on the ‘Nord Stream 1’ and ‘Nord Stream 2’ gas pipelines near the (Danish) island of Bornholm in September 2022,” prosecutors said.

He was “strongly suspected of jointly causing explosions, anti-constitutional sabotage, and destruction of buildings and structures,” they added.

Undersea explosions on Sept. 26, 2022, damaged the pipelines, which had been built to carry Russian natural gas to Germany under the Baltic Sea. The damage added to tensions over the war in Ukraine as European countries moved to wean themselves off Russian energy sources after the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. (read more)

When I combine these events with the recent effort by western intelligence to shape a very specific narrative about the current status of the war, my sense of the landscape is that things are more tenuous and urgent than Zelenskyy and his loyal defenders would like to admit.

The psychology of war is as brutal on the citizens as the battles, and it has looked for two months like NATO/EU, western intelligence and elements in media have been trying to support a specific psychological narrative inside Ukraine that defies the reality of what is visible.   That’s the only way I can make sense of the difference between western claims and the reality I saw in Russia.

Inside Russia there are signs of the war, indications that conflict impacting their economic status is taking place, but nothing even remotely close to what western media and NATO politicians have claimed.  Support for Putin still seems exceptionally strong, and the stuff being promoted on MSM and social media about problems inside Russia are not based on reality.

If NATO wants to expand the conflict with Russia to engage in a direct military effort to support Ukraine, they are underestimating the strength and resolve of what you can literally feel inside the Russian Federation.

Russians are brutally pragmatic and hard and the past three years of battleground experience in modern warfare has built out the mechanisms of hard and callous combat readiness.  Other than a few thousand Ukraine and special forces, the NATO alliance does not have combat soldiers with the intensity of hardness you see in the Russian people.

The west has to rely on technological advantages, and I honestly sense right now the NATO group are finding out that a digital war against an analog enemy doesn’t flow the way it might be planned in Brussels, London or Washington DC.

The alliance that has supported Ukraine the most is now facing a Ukrainian people who want this to end.  As Fedorov politely notes – and his supporters vocally attest, you cannot claim to be a defender of democracy while simultaneously suspending the very systems of democracy, like elections.

President Zelenskyy is increasingly disconnected, not from his support base(s) in Brussels, DC or London, but increasingly from the people within his own nation.  I’m not sure if Zelenskyy could win an election based on the sentiment I see carried outward toward Fedorov.

Again, if you stand back and look at the totality of events, a picture emerges that something is going to change very soon.

Earlier today following a meeting in Washington, D.C., between Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc and United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, both representatives delivered remarks to reporters.  There are no details provided, however, within his remarks, Greer says he is confident that a deal has been reached as they work to finalize the details.

USTR Greer notes the significant trade barriers between the U.S. and Canada appear to have been resolved. However, the devil is going to be in the details.  Greer noted they are putting together the documentation that will allow him to brief President Trump and congress on the proposals.  “While we certainly have eliminated some of the irritants we have had over the past several years, we are also taking a strong foot forward,” Greer remarked. WATCH:  

Given the antagonistic nature of Canada and their dependency on retaining an assembly economy with access to the U.S. market, it will be interesting to see what non-tariff barrier positions the Canadian government is willing to put forth.

There is a lot of optimism in media surrounding the tariff pause and the remarks that have followed; but I would caution interested parties to be aware of the scale of the divide between the two sides.
