Arctic Sea Ice Reaches Summer Decadal Maximum

How can there still be any ice there didn’t Gore and Hansen say it would all be gone by now, maybe just a little white lie!

Antarctic sea ice is near an all-time record maximum for the date, and Arctic sea ice extent is also the highest in a decade for July 25.

The weather has been very cold in the high Arctic, and it is  possible that 15% ice extent will approach or cross the 1979-2000 median line in a few days

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Al Gore forecast an ice-free Arctic for this summer. He is a great hero and has made nearly a billion dollars off pushing the global warming scam, while I am considered to be “deranged” for posting these graphs from the Danish Meteorological Institute.

NASA’s Finest Are Climate Skeptics

There is hope …

Tony Heller's avatarReal Climate Science

Unlike the pathetic little weasels at GISS, NASA’s finest are climate skeptics.

To the long list of right-wing, knuckle-dragging know nothings who dare question so-called “global warming,” environmentalists now can add six Apollo astronauts, two rocket men who flew aboard Skylab, and a pair of former directors of the Johnson Space Center (JSC).

These veterans of America’s space program are among the 49 retired NASA employees who recently asked the space agency to halt what they consider its unscientific advocacy of climate alarmism.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin told the Daily Telegraph that he believes the climate has been changing for billions of years.

In a letter to NASA administrator Charles Bolden Jr., these rocket scientists, space explorers, and other men and women of reason requested, “NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites.”

They added: “We believe the claims by…

‘Climate models not only significantly over-predict observed warming in the tropical troposphere, but they represent it in a fundamentally different way than is observed’

Actually this should be no surprise; it results from over estimating CO2 forcing s and underestimating natural processes. By properly modeling the heat/energy transfers from the tropics toward the poles and combining that with a reasonable factor for carbon Dioxide with sensitivity under 1 degree C per doubling a model can be constructed that will generate global temperatures in line with NASA-GISS global temperatures significantly better than any IPCC Climate models.

The Eternal Spotlessness of the Sunshine Mind

In today’s climate news, those crazy people who are sometimes called “climate skeptics” have from time to time pointed at the bright yellow thing in the sky during the daytime and suggested that maybe it has something to do with the earth’s climate.  Noooooo, say the climatistas—it’s SUV emissions all the way down.  Shut up.  Because 97 percent!

The Los Angeles Times, which proudly announced it would publish no more letters to the editor from climate skeptics (because 97 percent!), today reports on a current puzzle that hitherto only climate skeptics have been asking about: the sun goes through fairly regular epicycles that typically feature a lot of sunspot activity at the peak of the cycle.  And sunspots are thought to play some role in climate variation, albeit probably very small.  But the current “solar maximum” of this epicycle is showing very little sunspot activity.  The Times reports:

So what’s going on here? Is the “All Quiet Event” as solar physicist Tony Phillips dubbed it, a big deal or not?

“It is weird, but it’s not super weird,” said Phillips, who writes about solar activity on his website SpaceWeather.com. “To have a spotless day during solar maximum is odd, but then again, this solar maximum we are in has been very wimpy.”

Phillips notes this is the weakest solar maximum to have been observed in the space age, and it is shaking out to be the weakest one in the past 100 years, so the spotless day was not so out of left field.

“It all underlines that solar physicists really don’t know what the heck is happening on the sun,” Phillips said. “We just don’t know how to predict the sun, that is the take away message of this event.” . . .

“You just can’t predict the sun,” Phillips said.

Yeah, but the sunshine minds of the climatistas can predict the climate 50 and 100 years from now.  Because 97 percent!

Towards a pragmatic ethics of climate change

I like this discussions but before we enter into them we must understand the issues without the political baggage. With climate change the science got politicized before it was even close to understood. So now we have hardened positions and climate models that can show what it happening today — so how can be believe that can can show what might be even a few decades off. Since the key to all of this is the forcing values of CO2 it would seem to me that that must be understood fully first before any other issue.

The global climate change debate has gone badly wrong. Many mainstream environmentalists are arguing for the wrong actions and for the wrong reasons, and so long as they continue to do so they put all our futures in jeopardy. – Thomas Wells

Climate Prophet Hansen Says Arctic Will Be Ice-Free By 2013

Hey it all depends on the definition of the words Sea Ice which could mean ice created by the sea and since its created by the cold there would technically be no sea (created) ice. Or maybe he is just an old fool!

Climate change conference calls for an end to capitalism

A climate change conference held in Venezuela involving roughly 130 green groups has ended with a call to end capitalism and reject carbon markets, reports RTCC.

The UN-backed conference included organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund, Christian Aid and the Third World Network.

Ending with the Margarita declaration, the conference was the largest of its kind, inviting non-governmental organisations to engage with the UN in climate change talks.
