We finally know what happened to Amelia Earhart. Although it’s a tragic ending, her story remains a tale of courage against all odds.

Adapting Machine Learning for Medicine


One project I want to move into after we finally get Socrates up for all levels of service is to turn toward medicine. Google’s AI algorithm predicts heart disease by scanning your eyes. They have used machine learning to accomplish what a doctor would do by traditional methods including blood work.

Medicine suffers from the same problem as financial analysis. It is dominated by opinion and that depends entirely upon (1) your experience and (2) the current situation. For example, a small child of about two was running a high fever. She was taken to the doctor who was flooded with flu patients. She was checked for the flu, found to be negative, and sent home. Day three, the fever was still there. Again, the little girl was taken back to another doctor. The same thing took place. After day four, the fever persisted and once more she was taken back to a doctor and the same thing took place.

Finally, the mother noticed she was not urinating and the child simply responded that it hurt. A fourth trip ended up admitting her to a hospital with a urinary infection that had by now started to impact her kidneys.

Medicine, like analysis, is dominated by opinion. If the doctor does not think of anything else to test, nothing takes place.

Machine learning can be used with a full body scanner and much more accurate results can be obtained. We need a machine that will also do a full body ultrasound scan, a simple pinprick for a drop of blood, and the machine could come up with a lot more information at a far lower cost than what we see today.

Are they Starting To Understand Everything is Connected in Nature?


Back in the 1980s, I flew to Toronto to do an institutional session. There was an earthquake that hit. I then flew to Vancouver to do another institutional session and another earthquake hit. I then flew to Tokyo and was hit by another earthquake during the session. I then flew to Australia and joked saying this thing was following me. That night, one struck off the coast of Darwin where we were. I then flew to Aukland and was hit again. That is when I met with the Earthquake Research center. I explain what was happening and at that time they said oh no, that is just a coincidence. Several years later they call me and said they were starting to agree it was connected.

The vibrations that move through the earth with each earthquake called seismic waves are far more significant than originally thought. Today, the impact of seismic waves are being studied beyond the local region of the quake.

The water levels in wells indeed respond to the seismic waves and experience waves of expansion and contraction of the aquifer tapped by the well, This recent event in Alaska saw well in Florida impacted by the seismic wave forces even thousands of miles away from an earthquake’s epicenter.

Back in 1964 with that major thrust-quake, water level changes were reported at 716 wells in the United States, according to the USGS. We are just starting to explore the fact that complexity exists in many areas.

Quantum Encryption even NSA Cannot Break!


Quantum Encryption is a dream that is rapidly coming true (University of Science and Technology China). At this level, it can make data secure and virtually impossible to hack. This will put the NSA back to the stone age where they belong. Crimes will have to be solved the old fashion way instead of hacking someone’s cell phone to figure out where their bank accounts are and did they pay their tax for the shoes they are wearing.

The Chinese satellite Micius has sent a quantum-encrypted dataset between China and Austria. The Chinese are leading the way to what may prove to be a global quantum internet. They launched Micius in August 2016, to experiment with quantum communications and encryption. Conventional communications satellites transmit information via radio or microwave signals. Micius uses quantum-entangled photons to effectively “teleport” information. This means SPEED that is almost instantaneous while quantum communications are extremely secure and will beat everything – yes even blockchain.

OK. That may sound like Star Trek and beam me up, Scotty! Well, what this amounts to two photons are inextricably linked, meaning if a user knows the state of one particle they can infer the state of the other, no matter how far apart they are. Last year, Micius beat the quantum entanglement distance record, sending a message over a distance of 746 miles.

It works in the same way as Schrödinger’s famous thought experiment, involving a cat in a quantum superposition of being simultaneously both alive and dead. It’s not until an observer peeks into the box and checks on the cat that the superposition collapses into one state or the other. Schrödinger highlighted the bizarre nature of quantum superpositions, in which a quantum system such as an atom or photon can exist as a combination of multiple states corresponding to different possible outcomes. The prevailing theory, called the Copenhagen interpretation, said that a quantum system remained in this superposition until it interacted with, or was observed by, the external world, at which time the superposition collapses into one or another of the possible definite states. The EPR (Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen) in a 1935 experiment showed that a system with multiple particles separated by large distances could be in such a superposition.

Quantum superposition is a fundamental principle of quantum mechanics. It states that, much like waves in classical physics, any two (or more) quantum states can be added together (“superposed”) and the result will be another valid quantum state; and conversely, that every quantum state can be represented as a sum of two or more other distinct states. This also surfaces in the cyclical analysis that I have observed and call the Cycle Inversion.

Here, a message is sent as individual photons that are in quantum superposition states. That means in data terms, those photons represent both ones and zeroes at the same time. The message is coded and decoded through devices at each end. They essentially collapse each incoming photon into the required state, one or zero. If an unauthorized person even tries to intercept the message along the way, the very act of observing it will cause the superposition of each photon to collapse into a random state, garbling the message for the hacker and alerting the intended recipient to the breach.

This is going to change everything. It is interesting that China is ahead of the game. Seems to be spot on with our computer forecasts.

You May Soon Be Able to Regrow an Arm or Leg?


The Mexican axolotl salamander can regrow lost limbs in a matter of weeks which includes the bones, muscles, nerves and the whole enchilada. When scientists sought to map its DNA to figure out how it does it, to their shock, it turned out to be more than 10 times bigger than that of human DNA. Indeed, it had 32 billion base pairs of DNA making it the largest genome ever sequenced, according to Nature.

The project has taught us a few new lessons. A gene called PAX3, was previously considered to be essential to the development of an organism. This gene was completely missing from the genome. Instead, the related gene PAX7 appears to have taken over those critical functions. What they discovered was several genes unique to axolotls and other amphibians that are linked to regeneration.

Well, they may be still decades away from regrowing limbs, but sequencing the axolotl genome was a giant step forward for mankind in decoding how this ability to regrow limbs can evolve and function. It may also lead to the development of new methods to heal wounds faste

Life After Death


QUESTION: Do you believe in life after death?

ANSWER: This is an area of personal belief which varies from one person to the next and there is no right or wrong. Believe it or not, there has been a serious study of the subject. There was one man who had died and was brought back. He astonishingly was able to detail what was taking place in the room as if he had watched it from an out of body experience.

The study documented that conscious awareness appears to continue for at least up to three minutes into the period when the heart stops beating. Clinically, the brain will shut down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped. The man in question was able to describe everything that had happened in the room. What he described what happened to him had actually happened as if he was observing standing in the room looking at everyone and himself on the table

Tesla & Frequency


QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong; Nickolas Tesla’s work agrees with your analysis. He said: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Has he been an influence in what you do?

ANSWER: No. I have not looked at Tesla’s work only because it is fundamental to everything. If you find the right frequency, you can shatter a glass. Therefore, I did not find it necessary to investigate Tesla’s work. Of course, it was critical but that statement was not earth-changing.

Nonetheless, the far more interesting statement of Tesla is not the obvious one that everything has a frequency. It was his statement that when science explores the “non-physical phenomenon, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”

In this respect, I agree with Tesla. You have to dig deeper than traditional science explores. Once you begin to see the entire universe is governed by the 8.6 frequency, the doors to a hidden order spring wide open.

AI v Self-Aware


 

QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong; I heard you will be the keynote speaker at the Hack-Miami Programmer’s conference in 2018. Can I ask a question given your expertise in AI. What is your opinion of Sophia? Is this really AI warranting that she was granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia?

ANSWER: Sophia is a great development. However, proof that this is not the type of AI everything thinks it is all we need do is listen to a joke. When Sophia is talking to anyone, it’s really being handed the lines. It might determine when it’s the right time to say something, but those pithy one-liners aren’t from the robot. Someone has programmed that. You can ask Google Home a joke and she too will answer. These are scripted lines. The robot can process what you are asking, but it cannot actually create a joke from scratch. It is possible to move toward that, but there is no guarantee every joke would actually be funny.

The AI that people think they are watching is a fully cognitive robot that is self-aware. I wrote a program for my children back in the early 1980s. I installed a Dragon voice board and wrote a program to be a politician. It would interact with my children and record likes and dislikes. When my daughter would go back the next day, it would ask about something it knew like how is your dog.

The politician part came into play whenever it did not understand a line of conversation. It would simply change the subject. My kids would bring friends over and did not understand that the computer I created was not exactly off the shelf. They would tell their friend that their computer talked.

Likewise, Socrates is not cognitive. It understands how to analyze and go well beyond what humans are capable of. However, it is still not self-aware. I personally do not believe a computer can simply become self-aware by evolution. That theory is really based on the idea that there is no God and we have emerged simply because of our brain structure. Thus, if we create a neural net big enough, the theory is consciousness will somehow emerge as did we. I do not buy that.

2018 the Year for Earthquakes?


The Great San Francisco Earthquake struck on April 18th, 1906 (1906.295). Based upon our model that monitors also earthquakes due to their impact on the economy (1906 quake led to the Panic of 1907 and the formation to create the Federal Reserve in 1913). The risk for a major earthquake turns up in 2018. Why? Actually from two aspects. This will be the 13th wave of 8.6 years from 1906 which puts the risk starting 2018.095 (Feb 3/4. 2018). However, perhaps a more important model is simply looking at quakes that are 7.0 or higher regardless of where they are. When we focus on this level of activity, here too what emerges is a 31.4-year cycle of intensity. This also turns up in 2018. The real intensity appears to extend into 2021.

There is a new theory that some scientists have put forward. This new theory was published in Geophysical Research Letters earlier this year, by Roger Bilham of the University of Colorado and Rebecca Bendick of the University of Montana. Their hypothesis predicts that because of Earth actually slows down in its rotation, there will be a sharp rise in large earthquakes come 2018. The forecast is based upon looking at earthquakes since 1900 that were greater than 7.0 displays a cycle that is approximately every 32 years for an uptick in these large quakes. They argue that the only factor which strongly correlates is a slight slowing of the Earth’s rotation in a five-year period before the uptick. While I cannot confirm or deny that the cause of the cycle is the slowing of the Earth’s rotation, I can confirm that the cycle exists. Indeed, a Magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit 45 miles from New Caledonia on November 19th, 2017 at 5:43 PM.

The Tokyo Earthquake of 1923 came 17.2 years after the San Francisco Earthquake. That was two 8.6-year waves after 1906. The 17.2-year frequency for 7.0+ quakes was due then in 1940. On May 19th, 1940, Imperial Valley, California, in the United States was hit by a 7.1 quake which was followed by the November 10th, 1940 Vrancea, Romania quake registering 7.4 in magnitude. The next 17.2-year target was 1957. Here we hade four major quakes hit; March 9th, 1957 Andreanof Islands, Alaska coming in at 8.6 in magnitude, April 25th, 1957 Fethiye, Muğla, Turkey  with a 7.1 quake, May 26th, 1957 Abant, Bolu, Turkey at 7.1 in magnitude, and December 4th, 1957 Govi-Altai Province, Mongolia with a 8.1 quake.

The next 17.2-year target was 1974/75. This produced four quakes starting on October 3rd, 1974 Near Lima, Peru registering 8.1, then February 4th, 1975 Haicheng, Liaoning, China 7.0, May 26th, 1975 North Atlantic earthquake 7.9, and July 8th, 1975 Bagan, Myanmar, coming in at 7.5 in magnitude. The next target was 1992 which produced three major quakes starting on April 25th, 1992 Cape Mendocino, California, at 7.2 in magnitude, followed by the June 28th, 1992 Landers, California, at 7.3 on the scale, and September 2nd, 1992 in Nicaragua with a 7.7 quake. The next target was 2009 corresponding with the low in the Crash of 2007-2009. The financial market6s captured the headlines that year, but there were 16 earthquakes in 2009 alone that measured 7.0 or greater with one exceeding 8.0. The next target for intensity will be 2026.

The coming year of 2018 will be the start of an uptick in earthquake intensity. Of course, this is a worldwide model and not one specific to any single city.
