Privately Everyone Admits Ukraine is at a Stalemate Position – Publicly Western Govt Must Retain Face

Posted originally on the CTH November 25, 2023 | Sundance

Speaking to our CTH audience following direct conversations in the EU, I can assure you that privately it is well known that the Russia-Ukraine conflict is at a designed stalemate. Russia has solidified the western frontlines in Ukraine in exactly the position originally intended. Additionally, the fortifications are of such strategic scale no one in the Western alliance would dare to propose any effort for direct confrontation.

This is the reality on the ground in Ukraine, and if you look carefully at western reporting, you will see indications of the unspoken truth.

Bild reported that inside the German govt, there are leaks about conversations between U.S and German officials. “While outwardly expressing full support for Ukraine, behind closed doors in Berlin and Washington plans are being hatched to force Ukraine into talks with Russia to freeze the war on its current front lines, German newspaper BILD said in a report published on Nov. 24.” {link}

The Biden administration, specifically the Dept of State and CIA are now managing the narrative. The Eastern EU bloc (NATO realists) well understand the dynamic, although you will see opaque indications from traditional western media. However, if you look carefully, you will note one of the indications of this dynamic can be found in the unwillingness of the U.S. to provide logistical support for advanced M1A2 tanks to engage the Russian lines {link}.

[…]  Since receiving its first batch of Abrams in September, Ukraine has likely mixed them with the US-made M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, Cancian told BI.

Bradleys arrived sooner and have made their presence felt on the battlefield already.  For now, because of winter conditions, sending small Bradley-and-Abrams groups would be “inefficient” and “hard to support” logistically, he said.

Sumlenny cited the July offensives by the 47th Mechanized Brigade in the Zaporizhzhia region, where he said Ukrainian troops suffered heavy losses of Bradley armored vehicles against Russian defenses.  At the time, 34 of the 100 Bradley tanks the US had provided had been destroyed, according to Oryx, an open-source military research group. {link}

The Russian military have long ago positioned their strategic assets to take out any advanced armored columns.  All of the primary routes for U.S. provided Ukrainian tank deployment have been field targeted by proactive artillery placement.  Any advancing U.S/Ukraine armor would be walking directly into previously sighted positions.  It is a literal stalemate with air combat as the only solution to break the hardened fortifications.  The Russian air defenses are also positioned against this approach.

You cannot gather a comprehensive understanding of this dynamic without traveling to the epicenter of the discussion; so, that’s what I did.  From those discussions, and from discussions with actual Russians who know the strategic intent of the front line (Russian) fortifications, you can easily see how the Western alliance is having to face the reality of a stalemate yet needing to save face given the nature of the prior expenditures.

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are not a matter of “if”, but “when”, and that means politics drives the decision making.

This is the reality of the situation.

The overwhelming majority of the Russian people stand in support of the efforts by Vladimir Putin.  They do not necessarily align with the man, but they do align with the intention of national defense against western/NATO encroachment.

Winning is not the western/NATO objective.  Saving face is the priority.

QUESTION: You said Ukraine never shot down 6 of Russia’s unstoppable hypersonic weapons. Do you think that was all propaganda?

SH

HIMARK

ANSWER: Absolutely. Neither the US nor Russia will commit their most critical weapons to Ukraine. Why? Because it reveals your best car and allows the opposition to gather intelligence to defeat them. Look at the HIMARS rockets that were going to change the game. Russia jammed its guidance systems that rely on GPS. The US would NEVER have given Ukraine our top shelf. That would be like playing poker and showing your hand before the betting begins.

Zelenskyy Official Admits, “People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow.”

Posted originally on the CTH on October 31, 2023 | Sundance

The only people who deny financial corruption in Ukraine are those who benefit from it.  That group includes U.S. politicians who gleefully send billions of taxpayer funds into the country of Ukraine while capturing returns in the process.

U.S. advisors and consultants, along with private sector contractors and multinational corporations like Blackrock, are all beneficiaries of the vast sums of money being dumped into Ukraine. We all know this.  So, on one hand it is simple to see why the Ukraine government officials would use the same opportunity to enrich themselves

After all, U.S. taxpayers are not only buying bombs, missiles and bullets with the money sent to Ukraine, we are also paying the salaries and pensions of the same government officials who are skimming the proceeds.  The corruption is everywhere, and every entity is participating in the graft, in one form or another.

Zelenskyy’s wife goes shopping in Paris during the war.  Where exactly do politicians think she is getting the money to spend on glitzy holiday vacations?  Everybody knows exactly what is going on.  The glaringly obvious theft is a large part of the contention the American people have with this insufferable effort to fund Ukraine.

During a lengthy Time Magazine article, one of the close and key advisors to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted that the corrupt stealing of US funds is widespread.   In addition to the theft, the overall tone of the Time Magazine article paints the war effort in Ukraine, what we have always called ‘World War Reddit’ for its mostly theatrical value, as a lost cause.  This is not surprising; however, for Time Mag to make such an admission, that does indicate a narrative shift in the overall effort.

TIME – […] Since the start of the invasion, Ukraine has refused to release official counts of dead and wounded. But according to U.S. and European estimates, the toll has long surpassed 100,000 on each side of the war. It has eroded the ranks of Ukraine’s armed forces so badly that draft offices have been forced to call up ever older personnel, raising the average age of a soldier in Ukraine to around 43 years. “They’re grown men now, and they aren’t that healthy to begin with,” says the close aide to Zelensky. “This is Ukraine. Not Scandinavia.”

[…] As conscription efforts have intensified around the country, stories are spreading on social media of draft officers pulling men off trains and buses and sending them to the front. Those with means sometimes bribe their way out of service, often by paying for a medical exemption. Such episodes of corruption within the recruitment system became so widespread by the end of the summer that on Aug. 11 Zelensky fired the heads of the draft offices in every region of the country.

The decision was intended to signal his commitment to fighting graft. But the move backfired, according to the senior military officer, as recruitment nearly ground to a halt without leadership. The fired officials also proved difficult to replace, in part because the reputation of the draft offices had been tainted. “Who wants that job?” the officer asks. “It’s like putting a sign on your back that says: corrupt.”

[…] Amid all the pressure to root out corruption, I assumed, perhaps naively, that officials in Ukraine would think twice before taking a bribe or pocketing state funds. But when I made this point to a top presidential adviser in early October, he asked me to turn off my audio recorder so he could speak more freely. “Simon, you’re mistaken,” he says. “People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow.”

Even the firing of the Defense Minister did not make officials “feel any fear,” he adds, because the purge took too long to materialize. The President was warned in February that corruption had grown rife inside the ministry, but he dithered for more than six months, giving his allies multiple chances to deal with the problems quietly or explain them away. By the time he acted ahead of his U.S. visit, “it was too late,” says another senior presidential adviser. Ukraine’s Western allies were already aware of the scandal by then. Soldiers at the front had begun making off-color jokes about “Reznikov’s eggs,” a new metaphor for corruption. “The reputational damage was done,” says the adviser. (more)

Time Magazine, a far-left ideological ally of the Biden regime, is publishing this at the same time that Congress is debating another request for billions more dollars in Ukraine aid.   The timing here would indicate a substantive shift in position for the leftist media.   Perhaps they are starting to realize, the bloom is off the ruse.

Volga 149.200

Armstrong Economcs Blog/War Re-Posted Oct 10, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

Ukrainians are surrendering through Russia’s Volga’s 149.200 radio frequency. “Use this radio frequency only if you plan to surrender. Give us your position and then you will be taken into custody. You will be provided with all necessary medical care. You will be fed and given food.” VOLGA 149.200 is spray-painted across buildings throughout the war zone. Over 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered in this manner since June. Winter is now approaching.

We must remember that not every Ukrainian soldier is there willingly. Zelensky demanded that children as young as 16 risk their lives to fight in his war. Countless polls show the majority of Ukrainians believe Zelensky is corrupt and they do not want war. Zelensky demanded that every man under the age of 65 return to Ukraine to fight and the EU is happy to expel them back into Zelensky’s grip.

“Now more than 10,000 Ukrainian servicemen have already chosen life and used the 149.200 ‘Volga’ frequency to surrender. The captives are being fed; they are being provided with all necessary medical care,” a Russian state sponsor told Tass. Almost every radio has the capacity to tune into this frequency. Russians are warning troops that this is the only way they can save their lives.

Videos have emerged of badly beaten POWs explaining why they called Volga. Obviously, nothing can be trusted amid wartime, but many of the men said that they did not want to fight and wanted to surrender to stay alive.

The harsh winter is rapidly approaching, a climate that has taken out the most hardened soldiers throughout history. What would happen if the majority abandoned the Neocon plan and surrendered? A lot of these men are not there to fight tooth and nail. They do not believe in the war or their corrupt government. Time will tell if more Ukrainian troops “call Volga to save their life.”

Following Rebuke Election, Slovakia Halts Military Aid to Ukraine

Posted originally on the CTH on October 9, 2023 | Sundance

Slovakia’s President, Zuzana Caputova, wants to send more military aid to Ukraine, but there’s a change of power underway as the result of an election where the populist party against sending more aid to Ukraine won the majority of seats.

The people of Slovakia don’t want to send more military aid to Ukraine, despite the pontification of the ruling class which includes President Caputova. The people of the United States can relate.

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Slovakia’s president has refused a plan by her country’s caretaker government to send further military aid to Ukraine, saying it doesn’t have the authority and parties that oppose such support are in talks to form a government following last week’s election.

The presidential office said in a statement Thursday that the current government of technocrats has only limited powers because it lost a mandatory confidence vote in Parliament on June 15, a month after President Zuzana Caputova swore it in.

The technocrat Cabinet was created with the aim of leading the country to Saturday’s early election. Caputova on Monday asked the leader of the winning party in the election to try to form a coalition government. Populist former prime minister Robert Fico and his leftist Smer, or Direction, party captured 22.9% of the vote on Saturday. It will have 42 seats in the 150-seat Parliament.

Fico has vowed to withdraw Slovakia’s military support for Ukraine, and his victory could further strain the fragile unity in the European Union and NATO.

Fico needs to find coalition partners to rule with a parliamentary majority and has been negotiating with two other parties. He has been given two weeks.

The presidential office said that Caputova, who has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine and visited Kyiv twice since the start of the Russian invasion, has not changed her view on the necessity of military assistance for Ukraine.

But the statement said that “approving a military aid package by the current outgoing government would create a risky precedent for the change of power after any future elections.” (read more)

Putin on Prigozhin’s Death

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Oct 9, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin’s death remains unresolved. How did his plane go down? Some had said it was a deliberate missile attack. President Vladimir Putin believes someone onboard detonated hand grenades. Prigozhin was flying to St Petersburg with 10 additional people composed of three crew members and four bodyguards.

“There was no external impact on the plane – this is already an established fact, Putin said to dispel rumors of a missile attack. “Fragments of hand grenades were found in the bodies of those killed in the crash,” Putin told a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. No additional details have been released.

Furthermore, Putin said he was displeased with the investigation as they did not drug test the bodies or what was left of them. Ten billion in cash and five kilos of cocaine were found in Wagner’s office headquarters. Why avoid this important aspect of the autopsy?

Russia remains adamant that it had no involvement. We may never know the true details surrounding Prigozhin’s final moments.

Interestingly, news that Prigozhin was working with Chinese companies for satellite imagery was revealed on the same day. The Wagner Group signed a contract in November 2022 with China for the use of two satellites for spying. Beijing Yunze Technology Co Ltd, owned by Chang Guang Satellite Technology (CGST) to Nika-Fru, received $30 million for the two satellites. Wagner called upon the company for images of Moscow in May 2023, before the attempted capitol siege. So would the Russian government have been aware of this contact? The Chinese company may not have known about the mutiny that was going to take place, and Russia certainly was unaware. Another layer into the mysterious death of Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Cuban Troops Fight for Russia

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Sep 28, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

Cubans are no strangers to Western sanctions and aggression. Around 72% of Cubans live below the poverty line. “You can be a nuclear physicist and still die of hunger here,” one man told Politico, adding that he could not even afford toilet paper on his salary. Food insecurity remains a serious problem. GDP is expected to grow by 2% this year, but remains eight percentage points behind pre-pandemic levels. Desperate Cubans are now signing up to fight alongside Russian soldiers for citizenship and the opportunity to earn a living wage.

The Soviet Union helped Cuba during its 1959 revolution. Cuba and the Soviet Union paired up to fight in Angola as well. Cuba has remained neutral amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and basically has nothing to offer either side besides fighters. Putin announced in November 2022 that anyone wishing to fight for Russia would receive fast-track naturalization. The average salary in Cuba as of 2020 was about $9,500. One person told Politico they were offered a one-year teaching contract to aid troops in language exams for $2,100 per month plus a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

However, defecting to Russia is highly illegal. Recruiters have been arrested for running what the Cuban government deemed a “human trafficking network” to recruit new soldiers. These recruiters are seemingly looking for anyone as military experience is not a requirement. Worse, some news outlets are reporting that many Cubans have been tricked into joining the Russian military after being promised work away from the warzone.

Either way, can you blame them? The desperate people of failed Communist nations are literally starving and most men would do anything for their families. Nothing is fair during war and Russia is looking to recruit men from the most vulnerable nations to fight as they need to increase their military by at least 1.15 million service members.

Putin: Trump Indictments are Very Good for Russia

Armstrong Economics Blog/Politics e-Posted Sep 14, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

When asked about the impeachment of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin said that it is “very good” for Russia insofar as it shows America is deteriorating from within. Putin and Trump once had a mutual respect for one another, acknowledging that each leader consistently put their nation first. Everyone besides the far-left can see that Trump’s indictments are a politically motivated attempt by the current administration to deny the people a fair election. “It shows the rottenness of the US political system that can’t claim to teach others democracy,” Putin stated. “What happened to Trump is a motivated prosecution of a political rival.”

The US cannot possibly blame Russia for meddling in the next election when the current administration is blatantly arresting political opponents. The former world democracy police can no longer claim to be pious. Everyone sees what is happening, but only those not in the globalist club have spoken out.

“Imagine if this happened to a leading opposition presidential candidate here in El Salvador?” President Nayib Bukele posted to social media. “Sadly, it’ll be very hard for US Foreign Policy to use arguments such as “democracy” and “free and fair elections”, or try to condemn “political persecution” in other countries, from now on.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is no stranger to worldwide criticism for not aligning with the globalists, has spoken out against the indictments as well. “Keep on fighting, Mr. President!” Orban published on X. “We are with you.”

While China’s Xi has not directly commented, Chinese political commentators seem to be in agreement that the US government is deliberately locking up their top political opponent. The South China Morning Post wrote an article entitled: “Trump’s indictment: the real takeaway is the US is as polarised as ever.” A professor from Renmin University of China published an op-ed titled, ”Trump’s indictment and bank collapses a poor advertisement for US democracy.” Both articles say that China is laughing at the American political system. “The generation of young people who shouted ‘Long live President Wilson’ at the end of World War I, and the idealistic generation who endorsed a ‘fight for freedom and democracy’ in Tiananmen Square in 1989, have little in common with young Chinese people today who see no upside to emulating American democracy,” he wrote.

Divided we fall. The world sees America’s weakness as we are no longer a united nation, under one. We are divisible and under the tyrannical rule of the deep state who uses a corrupt career politician with dementia as their puppet.

North Korea backs Russia

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Sep 14, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

Kim Jong Un traveled to Moscow to show Russian President Vladimir Putin his support. North Korea is completely dependent on China after the hermit kingdom was shunned from global trade long ago. Russia’s support could prove vital to North Korea as reports of famine and hardship have made their way out of the secretive country.

Kim Jong Un said Russia will secure a victory over “evil” forces. “Russia is waging a sacred fight against the West,” he said, adding that North Korea will work together with Russia to “fight against imperialism.” Three generations of dictators have been focused on demolishing the West, accumulating military supplies, and militarizing the nation in preparation for an inevitable attack. The entire Korean peninsula will be up in arms if China, Russia, and North Korea begin performing military exercises together.

North Korea has nothing to lose, a dangerous enemy indeed, and needs this partnership with Russia more than Russia needs North Korea. Absolutely no one is willing to trade with the strict dictatorship, and they are wholly reliant on China. The nation only exists because it has nuclear powers that it threatens to use frequently. Russia will likely ask for military bases, equipment, and fighters. North Korea is seeking advanced Russian technology as the nation has faced numerous embarrassments after failed military tests. In particular, North Korea wishes to launch spy satellites but has failed on numerous occasions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the details will be kept confidential. This partnership gives the West another reason to point its finger and say, “Those are the bad guys.” A grand-scale war is increasingly becoming inevitable.

Russian Lives Matter

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Aug 29, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

The most influential aspect of Black Lives Matter is its name choice. Of course, black lives matter, but the messaging behind the movement itself was pure corruption and controlled civil unrest by the left. It was seen as racist to say that ALL lives matter because the focus was only on Black Americans. Then the police tried to use the term Blue Lives Matter, fueling the animosity.  The phrase has caught on, and a Danish director has come under fire for saying “Russian lives matter.”

Lars von Trier risks cancellation after commenting on a social media post featuring Denmark’s latest donation to Ukraine of extremely lethal F-16 fighter jets. “Russian lives matter also!” he stated on the Instagram post. He said his post was for Mr. Zelensky and Mr. Putin, and not least Mrs. Frederiksen (who yesterday, like someone head over heels in love, posed in the cockpit of one of the scariest killing machines of our time, grinning from ear to ear). “Russian lives matter also! Best regards, Lars.”

Ukrainian media outlets turned the post into a story of hatred. Oleksiy Danilov, the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, even weighed in on the situation: “The choice between the executioner and the victim becomes a tragedy when the artist chooses the side of the executioner. Ukraine doesn’t live in abstraction, but in a cruel reality in which Russians are murderers. A simple piece of advice for a famous director: imagine that it is a Russian missile that is flying into his city every day, that his father or mother was killed, his grandson was taken to Russia, and that a Russian looter raped his wife before burning down his house. In this case, the abstraction of hypocritical ‘humanism’ takes on completely different features – real, not fictional life.”

This is how wars are waged as the enemy must be dehumanized. As Danilov said, the reality Ukraine wants to portray is a “cruel reality in which Russians are murderers.” So every single person, old and young, in a large country is a ruthless murderer? This is akin to how the terrorist groups in Afghanistan painted all Americans as bloodthirsty killers. It is the same story repeated throughout history – villainize the enemy and cheer his last breath. Human nature is the same wherever you go. Fact: the majority of Russians simply want peace and are not Prigozhin clones plotting on Ukraine’s downfall.

“I was just stating the obvious: that all lives in this world matter! A forgotten phrase it seems, from a time when pacifism was a virtue,” the filmmaker replied, later mentioning he had no idea the trouble his comments would cause. But sure, cheer the image of the F-16 jet designed for mass murder of fellow human beings.
