The argument against a partial or full quarantine is that it will not work, that it is not fair and that it will cost too much. The answerer is that quarantines do work when properly implemented, fairness seems to mean we should all share the viruses which makes no sense, and there is no amount of cost to stop this that is too much.
With no quarantine and business as usual, Ebola will spread over the entire planet and the health care people will be the first to go. Not counting the doctors, nurses and aid personnel that have already died in Africa we now have a Dallas hospital health care worker, nurse, infected and well as a nurses and others in Spain with Ebola. Given the up to 21 day incubation period there is no telling how many more will come down with this in the next few weeks. At some point in the next month or so there will be general panics in the words population and that will be the end.
In 1918 the Spanish Flue infected 500 million people across the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and killed 50 to 100 million of them—three to five percent of the world’s population then around 1.8 billion. If Ebola is no worse than the 1918 Spanish Flue than with the worlds population just under 7.2 billion that means that 216 to 360 million people could die. Some would say that’s not possible with modern technology but also keep in mind that travel back then was mostly still by boat and horse — cars, trucks and airplanes were just starting to get in the general population and so the spreading factor was nowhere like it is today. With something this deadly, Ebola seems to be 3 to 4 times more deadly than the 1918 Spanish Flue a billion deaths is not out of the question.
What this means is that an all out effort must be put in place now before its too late and I would say we have at most 2 months to stop Ebola or the deaths of a large number of the worlds population will be the result of the inaction’s of the President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama. For the United States is the only country that can stop this from happening.
1. Quarantine West Africa
2. Do what ever it takes to contain the spread there
3. Set up treatment facilities in the rest of the world away from major population centers.
4. Limit international travel to only what is necessary
5. World business will we hurt but travel is not required to do business today.
6. When people travel they have to have passports and if anyone has been in a quarantined area they must speed three weeks in isolation to travel from where they are
7. Obviously the southern US border has to be closed and other countries will have to do similar closures to prevent illegal travel.
This is only an outline of what it will take to prevent massive loss of life. That of course means that it will not be done and therefore lots of people will die. Anyone that would not do what is necessary to prevent this will be the most evil person to ever walk this planet.
