Perhaps the top tiers of the DOJ are hearing the outrage. Perhaps this is a ‘tamp down’ effort?
Regardless, of structural underpinning, the removal of a demonstrably, perhaps purposefully ineffective attorney from the Southern District of New York, who happens to be the daughter of one of the most political FBI Directors in history, was something very much needed.
According to Politico, Maurene Comey has been fired from the DOJ office.
NEW YORK – Maurene Comey, who prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein and is former FBI Director James Comey’s daughter, was fired Wednesday from her job in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, according to two people familiar with the matter who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
The reason for her firing was not immediately clear. She did not immediately respond to phone calls and an email seeking comment. Spokespeople for the Justice Department and the U.S. attorney’s office declined to comment.
Comey, who had worked in the U.S. attorney’s office for nearly a decade, prosecuted both Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. (read more)

President Trump sent out a very strong message on Truth Social today. “[M]y PAST supporters have bought into this “bullshit,” hook, line, and sinker,” Trump said. Adding, “I don’t want their support anymore!”
President Trump was then asked why he thought his supporters were so focused on the Jeffrey Epstein saga during an impromptu press conference. Response Below:
Obviously President Trump wants his supporters to drop talking about this story, and I must admit I was wrong. I earnestly believed someone close to President Trump would explain why his support base was/is focused on the Epstein scandal as representative of government control of information.
While the “Epstein stuff” in general has never been a subject of great interest here, I simply cannot explain this level of disconnect toward those to whom the story is important. This is new because President Trump has always reflected his understanding of his hardcore base of support, even when the details were difficult to understand.
PRESIDENT TRUMP – “The Radical Left Democrats have hit pay dirt, again! Just like with the FAKE and fully discredited Steele Dossier, the lying 51 “Intelligence” Agents, the Laptop from Hell, which the Dems swore had come from Russia (No, it came from Hunter Biden’s bathroom!), and even the Russia, Russia, Russia Scam itself, a totally fake and made up story used in order to hide Crooked Hillary Clinton’s big loss in the 2016 Presidential Election, these Scams and Hoaxes are all the Democrats are good at – It’s all they have – They are no good at governing, no good at policy, and no good at picking winning candidates.
Also, unlike Republicans, they stick together like glue. Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this “bullshit,” hook, line, and sinker. They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.
I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about, with strong prodding by the Fake News and the success starved Dems, is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax. Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!

I have never seen an issue divide the support base of President Trump like the DOJ/FBI response to the “Epstein file” inquiries. This is very unfortunate and completely avoidable.
