Third Sunday of Advent (late again)

JN 1:6-8, 19-28

A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.

And this is the testimony of John.
When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests
and Levites to him
to ask him, “Who are you?”
He admitted and did not deny it,
but admitted, “I am not the Christ.”
So they asked him,
“What are you then? Are you Elijah?”
And he said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”
He answered, “No.”
So they said to him,
“Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us?
What do you have to say for yourself?”
He said:
“I am the voice of one crying out in the desert,
‘make straight the way of the Lord,
’”
as Isaiah the prophet said.”
Some Pharisees were also sent.
They asked him,
“Why then do you baptize
if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?”
John answered them,
“I baptize with water;
but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,
the one who is coming after me,
whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.”
This happened in Bethany across the Jordan,
where John was baptizing.

Christmas in 1914 – Soldiers Defied Their Governments And Shared a Truce

Armstrong Economics Blog/Opinion Re-Posted Dec 12, 2020 by Martin Armstrong

No matter what country we are from, we are all the same. Those in power make wars if not against each other than against “we the people” to further their power. Those who are against the people always pretend we are too stupid to understand what is best.  The definition of tyranny was once limited to the power being concentrated in the hands of one person. These are the real fools today for they think they are in control, but they have been manipulated and cannot see the future they are supporting. The tyranny today is embodied in an unfounded idea of climate change caused by people and the population must be reduced and racism prevails to reduce the races they see as inferior.

History will repeat. Just look at Athens and the rise of democracy which was against people. After losing the Peloponnesian War, Sparta imposed an oligarchy that ruled Athens as a virtual occupying government. Thirty commissioners were appointed to the oligarchy, which was extremists led by Critias. Their oppressive regime fostered a bloody purge, in which perhaps 1,500 residents were killed. Anyone who disagreed with their decrees was arrested just like today for protesting or not wearing a mask. Many moderates fled the city just as we once again are witnessing as people are fleeing New York City and California — i.e., Goldman Sachs moving to Florida & Elon Musk leaving California for Texas. The flight from California promises that the last non-leftist should turn out the lights. Those who fled gathered a force and returned with a vengeance to defeat the tyrants’ forces in a battle at Piraeus in 403 BC. The 30 fled and were killed off over the next few years.

Tyranny is still the cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control, be it in the hands of one or a group of tyrants who see themselves as better than everyone else. These tyrants of today should look to history. They will find themselves chased from their lofty seats of power and will be lucky if they retain their heads.

We Remember

“On this National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we recall the phrase “Remember Pearl Harbor,” which stirred the fighting spirit within the hearts of the more than 16 million Americans who courageously served in World War II. Over 400,000 gave their lives in the global conflict that began, for our Nation, on that fateful Sunday morning.

Today, we memorialize all those lost on December 7, 1941, declare once again that our Nation will never forget these valiant heroes, and resolve as firmly as ever that their memory and spirit will survive for as long as our Nation endures.”

Second Sunday of Advent (sorry a bit late)

MK 1:1-8

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare your way.
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.”

John the Baptist appeared in the desert
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
People of the whole Judean countryside
and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem
were going out to him
and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River
as they acknowledged their sins.
John was clothed in camel’s hair,
with a leather belt around his waist.
He fed on locusts and wild honey.
And this is what he proclaimed:
“One mightier than I is coming after me.
I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

First Sunday of Advent

MK 13:33-37

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”

UNCERTAINTY & The Future

Armstrong Economics Blog/Forecasts Re-Posted Nov 27, 2020 by Martin Armstrong

QUESTION: I would imagine that if Trump is able to prevail in the courts and earn a second term social unrest would be profound but what would be the effects on the markets?

RM

ANSWER: There is still a shot that Trump can prevail if he can stop Biden from reaching 270 votes and that would throw it into the House of Representatives where each state would get one vote and Trump would win in that scenario as took place during the election of 1824. But PA has certified Biden as the winner and then a state judge ruled against the governor. Then lawsuits against Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin raise the stakes of perhaps preventing Biden from getting 270 sending it into the House of Representatives.

What is clear from Socrates is that civil unrest will rise no matter what. If Trump can prevail or the Republicans can keep the Senate, then the Great Reset agenda will be stalled. But Biden can still use executive orders if he takes the White House to try to impose lockdowns etc overriding Congress. In Theory, Trump could have used executive orders ordering the State to end lockdowns but that would have been used against him and the Democrats argued he lacked that power. With Biden, they would say he has it.

My OPINION is just an OPINION. This year has been off the charts and it is still not over. Socrates just follows the markets and that is the only tool we have that is not subject to personal opinion which I seriously doubt anyone will be correct in this mess other than sheer luck. Nobody has lived through this type of market. The press attributes the rally to the vaccine. Let’s be honest here, that is propaganda. The Dow took the lead only because of international capital flows.

All next summer we have Directional Changes and a Panic Cycle in August 2021 when the German elections may be postponed. Because the Great Reset is going full-steam-ahead in Europe and the USA is lagging behind, the capital flows can still come to the US under Biden only because Europe is worse. But this does not look like it will end well come 2022.

For now, equities appear OK. But Schwab’s “STAKEHOLDER” economics combined with his “you will own nothing and be happy“, that is a lethal combination that would imply the end of free markets and even shares. Socrates clearly shows they will not be successful and in the process of destroying our Western economies with these lockdowns. This is an invitation to international war. The only thing that has created peace is not nuclear weapons. It has been our consumer-based economies that have benefited China and Russia. Destroy our economies trying to “build back better” is an invitation to war for then China and Russia have nothing to lose but to respond with violence given these people trying to subject them as well to this Great Reset.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce yesterday said the Australian flag carrier would implement the measure once a coronavirus vaccine was made available to the public. He predicted the rule would become standard practice around the world as governments and airlines consider introducing electronic vaccination passports for a bogus virus with a 99% survival rate like the common cold which is also a coronavirus. World trade will be coming to an abrupt shock. These people are really changing the world and it will not be anything that we would expect. Worse still, they NEVER made this an issue for the people to ever approve. This is tyranny in its worse form.

Experience is the teacher of all things

Armstrong Economics Blog/Opinion Re-Posted Nov 27, 2020 by Martin Armstrong

COMMENT: You frequently explain that economic understanding can only come from personal experience, not a degree. In his book, Memories of Summer, the baseball writer Roger Kahn interviews the great Willie Mays in the 1950s, and Mays explains his success: “… nobody can teach you nothing like you can learn yourself… nobody can write a book that will teach you… you got to learn for yourself and you go do it your way.”
SH

REPLY: Yes. I can write and point out the connections. But you have to see them yourself. I have also pointed out that your trading LOSSES are more valuable than your wins. The reason is we all learn from our mistakes unless you are a politician or a leftist who prefers to blame others. The wins we just pat ourselves on the back and never question was it skill or just luck.

One of my favorite people in history was Julius Caesar (100-44BC). He has been the victim of fake news which called him a dictator when he was a man who defended the people against a corrupt oligarchy (see Anatomy of a Debt Crisis)Ut est rerum omnium magister usus (“Experience is the teacher of all things” or more generally “experience is the best teacher“) is a quote attributed to Julius Caesar in De Bello Civile, the war commentaries of the Civil War.

I was impressed by his writings as a young student as was the case with Marcus Aurelius and his Meditations along with Aristotle and Plato.

COMMENT:  Mr. Armstrong,
I missed your writings this weekend 😊. I hope all is well with you. I am saying this because you have posted only videos and the last time this occurred, you were held hostage  in the hospital for corona virus testing. Thus, I trust that this is not the case this time and both your health and mood – yes ,your mood 😉 – are sound at this time. We are at a moment where we are all trying to keep a sound mind. It is becoming too much! Every time I read the news it is depressing and I guess we all feel the same. There is this vibe of despair and restlessness in the air that is very overpowering. We all need a respite from all this madness and subjugation over our lives; it is pure chaos and never ending really. I hope you find a way in your everyday to mitigate the anxiety you might have, if any. If I may say, you have picturesque surroundings to wake up to everyday, such as a beautiful, calming sea that can bring serenity just by looking at it and can also provide a tranquil walk by the water. These are simple things that nature provides us with to connect to her and alleviate our well-being.
As always Mr. Armstrong, I wish you good health and many blessings to you and your loved ones.

REPLY: No, I am OK. Just finished writing a special report on Gold & Silver. Sent it off for editing. Today, I am working on the next on about Climate Change, Pole Flips, and 2032. I have so much to get done. I have been working every day for at least 15 hours.

I ended up getting a French Bulldog I suppose because traveling has become impossible. I also take walks on the beach to remind me how spectacular nature really is. Of course, these people would blame that on something humans did. They just do not believe in nature or God.Categories:Economics
