Biden Bans Oil Drilling Before Exiting Office

Crude Oil Production

President Joe Biden has invoked the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to prevent Donald Trump from permitting new oil and natural gas leases. Offshore drilling in federal waters along the East and West coasts of the US, eastern Gulf of Mexico, and portions of the northern Bering Sea in Alaska are now forbidden.

Biden boasted that this measure would protect 625 million acres of federal waters, but in reality, this is a last-ditch effort to prevent incoming President Donald Trump from reversing everything Biden did that made America dependent on foreign energy. “Joe Biden clearly wants high gas prices to be his legacy,” Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump, posted on X.

This political stunt will cost American jobs and cause trouble for Trump, who has stated that energy independence is a top priority. “’Suspending leases in Alaska’s 1002 Area is in direct conflict with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, through which Congress mandates an oil and gas leasing program be established on the non-wilderness Coastal Plain, and ordered at least two lease sales by 2024.,” Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski stated. “In addition, The Act specifically states that the purpose of the 1002 area of ANWR is oil and gas development. The oil and gas leasing program established by the Trump Administration meets the legal mandates required by Congress including imposing a framework with a range of environmental safeguards that are successfully guiding production elsewhere in northern Alaska.”

Utter pettiness as it is clear why the president waited until the final two weeks of his term to invoke this order. The 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA) prevents presidents from overturning such bans without congressional action. In 2019, during Trump’s first term, a federal judge declared that presidents may not reverse such bans. Trump believes he has the right to “unban it immediately” on “day one” in office, but the legalities of OSCLA remain unclear.

During his presidency, Biden nearly depleted America’s petroleum reserves. He begged foreign nations to increase their supply as he forced America to purchase that oil at a markup. The war in Ukraine only amplified the energy crisis as global demand skyrocketed. Yet he refused to back away from the climate change agenda even if that meant suffocating the American economy.

Biden can pander to his Agenda 2030 climate change supporters and vilify Trump further by claiming he does not care about the environment. Despite efforts continually failing, Biden still believes that the US can reach a net-zero greenhouse gas economy by 2050. Demand has not waned, and America must import oil if it cannot derive its own. Biden has spent his entire term undermining the American economy, beginning with the energy sector. He revoked the Keystone XL pipeline deal on day one, and at the eleventh hour, he is marking his exit with one last blow to American energy.

Biden to Build Border Wall – Trump was Right

Armstrong Economics Blog/International News Re-Posted Oct 6, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

The Biden Administration has met its target quota for illegal immigrants who will become future Democrats. The situation has become so out of control that even sanctuary cities are pleading for help from the White House. Civil unrest is rising and Democratic citizens are turning on the Biden Administration. To put a bandage on the open wound that will never heal, the Biden Administration is now BUILDING A WALL in southern Texas.

The left and right mocked Donald Trump relentlessly for years over “Trump’s wall.” It was deemed racist and unnecessary. EVERYONE WHO VOTED TO SECURE UKRAINE’S BORDER OPPOSED BUILDING A BORDER WALL WITH MEXICO. Trump requested $5.7 billion in 2019, which led to a government shutdown as Congress refused his request. Every politician claimed that America did not have the budget to build a wall, as if they had ever adhered to a budget.

A few short years later, we have spent well over that amount on supporting those who do not respect our borders or laws. Transnational gangs are roaming the country, there is a large human trafficking operation functional in plain sight, our cities have been overrun, lawless cities are sprouting up, and no one knows where these people came from initially. Where does their loyalty lie? State budgets have imploded over this migrant crisis and building a small partial wall will obviously not solve the problem. “What is he going to do about the 15 million people from prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums, and terrorists that have already come into our country?” Trump questioned on Truth Social.

So Joe Biden overturned 26 federal laws to build the wall. It was only weeks ago when he was auctioning off the remaining supplies for Trump’s wall and dismantling all temporary walls Abbott put in place. The environmentalists are enraged because Biden dismissed the Safe Drinking Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Air Act to construct the new wall. Everything has been strategically planned. Biden would have acted at the start of his presidency if he cared about national security. They NEEDED to let these people “surge the border,” as Joe said, to push forward what is to come in 2032. The truth of the matter is that he met his quota, and mass chaos has already ensued… AND he has no plan to implement a full wall. Trump said he “will await his apology.”

Anchorage Mayor to Fly Homeless to Los Angeles

Armstrong Economics Blog/USA Current Events Re-Posted Aug 1, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

“We are going to offer them a chance to stay warm this winter,” Anchorage, Alaska, Mayor Dave Bronson stated regarding the growing homeless population. Eight people died of exposure last year, and Bronson said it is cheaper to pay for a one-way flight than to create makeshift housing. Bronson said a one-way ticket to LA would cost the city about $286 per person. In comparison, the city would need to spend over $100 daily for temporary shelter.

The program has not been funded or approved. Obviously, LA is not too happy about the announcement. “Someone says, ‘I want to go to Los Angeles or San Diego or Seattle or Kansas,’ it’s not our business,” Bronson said of their final destination. “My job is to make sure they don’t die on Anchorage streets.” About 40% of Alaska’s population lives in Anchorage, but they host 65% of the homeless population. “The taxpayers to whom I’m responsible to can’t keep footing the entire bill,” he said. “We need a statewide solution to a statewide problem.”

LA Mayor Karen Bass declared a state of emergency in 2022 regarding the growing homeless population. “It will create the structure necessary for us to have a true, unified and citywide strategy to set us on the path to solve homelessness,” Bass said after promising to house at least 17,000 people during her first year in office. This was before the US-Mexico border was opened to the world. The homeless population in LA continues to grow at a record pace.

No one knows exactly what to do about the growing homeless problem in America. Our politicians are willing to send hundreds of billions to Ukraine but refuse to address the issues we face at home.
