Sunday Talks – Mike Pence Stumped by Question, “Who Supports You?”

Posed originally on the CTH on June 18, 2023 | Sundance

Mike Pence and Asa Hutchinson are being funded by the billionaire class in the 2024 race for the same reason, camp out in Iowa and try to suck up the votes from the Iowa evangelical community.  Make MAGA seem extreme through advanced milquetoast operations.  That’s it. That’s the goal.

Wear pastels and sweater vests; be the acceptable Republican and make triangle, crustless cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches great again.  That’s the entire modus operandi.

To promote this effort, Mike Pence appears with Chuck Todd on Meet the Press to talk about the crass/horrible orange man.  Pence was scheduled for the entire show.  However, Chuck Todd threw a curveball when he asked Mr. Pence the trick question, who is a Pence supporter?   The former vice-president was flummoxed, stuck, stammering, frozen…  WATCH:

The billionaire donor class do not appreciate these trick questions.  The gotcha questions like, asking Ron DeSantis how to pronounce his last name, and asking Pence to explain his supporters, are unfair and not permitted amid polite company.

President Donald Trump is not the cause of the Republican failure, President Trump is our response to Republican failure.

Sheesh, 20 House Republicans Join With Democrats to Stop Censure of the Insufferable Adam Schiff

Posted originally on the CTH on June 15, 2023 | Sundance

Good grief, who needs Democrat firepower when you can always count on Republicans to shoot themselves to save their enemies.  Twenty House Republicans joined with House Democrats to defeat a censure motion that would have triggered an investigation of the notoriously corrupt Adam Schiff (CA).

Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who really does seem to be a great MAGA addition to the House, created a censure motion that she advanced on Tuesday. Luna’s measure would have formally reprimanded Schiff for his conduct while Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), where he lied about Trump-Russia intelligence.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blocked Schiff from the HPSCI this year and Luna’s measure would have established an ethics investigation that could have resulted in a $16,000,000 fine if they found he committed the infractions.

As ridiculous as this sounds, 20 House Republicans came quickly to Adam Schiff’s defense.  Current “Republican” HPSCI Chairman Mike Turner (OH) was one of the GOP members who supported Schiff along with Republican Thomas Massie (KY) who recently endorsed Ron DeSantis.  What a bunch of knuckleheads.

(WASHINGTON DC) – Republicans joined most Democrats in voting to table a measure to censure Rep. Adam Schiff for his previous leadership of the House Intelligence Committee and probes into former President Donald Trump.

The vote: The measure was tabled by a 225-196 vote, with 20 Republicans voting alongside most Democrats. Other Democratic lawmakers were lined up ready to defend the Californian on the floor, but Wednesday’s vote stops the effort from advancing to a full House vote.

Schiff’s response: “It’s a continuation of a downward spiral. There are a number of members here now who are just kind of ugly performance artists. It’s all about getting attention, doesn’t matter whether it’s good attention or bad attention, it’s all about the notoriety,” Schiff told reporters after the vote.

Republicans from districts won by President Joe Biden like Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) and the current chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Turner (R-Ohio), were among the Republicans who voted with Democrats to defeat the measure.

Seven lawmakers voted present on the measure, including all five Democratic members of the House Ethics Committee and Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.). Democratic ethics panel members generally vote present on any ethics matters that come before the House. (more)

Big Picture DeSantis Corporate Club Plan and Some Site Note Reminders

Posted originally on the CTH on June 14, 2023 | Sundance

I don’t know how early you guys want me to start breaking down the 2024 GOPe roadmap (Sea Island meeting stuff).  It’s still early in the entire nomination process, and there’s still some stuff that needs to trigger; but here’s the general Establishment map that is awaiting some detail fillers:

In Iowa the SEA ISLAND DeSantis crew have funded and planted Asa Hutchinson and Mike Pence to camp out.  They are supported by Governor Kim Reynolds.  The goal is to use the Jeff Roe Cruz Crew, and roughly 1,000 paid Never Back Down (NBD) conscripts to do the Astroturf.

In New Hampshire they have funded Chris Sununu Inc (his state machine) along with Chris Christie, and the pair will camp out similar to Asa and Mike in Iowa.  Another roughly 500 to 1,000 NBD conscripts.

In South Carolina they do not have the Governor (McMaster) but they have funded Nikki Haley and Tim Scott.  Yes, they are doing pairs this time because the singles didn’t work in 2016.  The NBD conscripts will shift from Iowa to South Carolina along with the calendar.  Not as much state party purchase, so look for Haley and Scott to do something like endorse DeSantis during the SC debate.  The Bush machinery is thick in SC.

♦ In Nevada team DeSantis is following the RGA plan and will be going there soon to spend quite a bit of time and make the necessary funding and political promises.  Watch who endorses from there; it’s a caucus system so the RGA will drive the buss.  The NBD conscripts will come in as supportive filler to do the groundwork.

♦In Florida the SEA ISLAND crews are funding and deploying Suarez (launched today) along with never-Trump Jeanette Nuñez partnered with Team Jeb and the party apparatus.  However, the legislative assembly is in a little bit of a flux, as many of the members are not happy with being forced to do the legislative roadmap in order to get DeFunding.  House and Senate not happy with the pressure, and RdS has abandoned them now, so that might be problematic.

♦ Overall, Never Back Down will have around 2,500 paid operatives in the early primary states.  The RGA will be the pressure point for State Gov endorsements, which should be locked up very soon.  The RGA will also play a key role in financing the state party rule changes to keep everything proportional, thereby extending DeSantis longevity.  The RNC will support this very key part of the plan.  The goal is to bleed Trump dry of funds by forcing a lengthy primary.  The SEA ISLAND group has more money than Trump and the small donors.

The dropout sequence to endorse Ron DeSantis will generally follow the calendar as each of the primary contests is fought.  Rolling out of Iowa, Pence and Hutchinson will try to be the boosters for DeSantis rolling into New Hampshire to greet Sununu and Christie.  However, Christie will stay in at least through Florida to belittle Donald Trump.

Depending on the SC outcome, exiting Florida it should be a two-person race, as Trump is sequentially battered by external DC Lawfare and simultaneous 10 against 1 attacks while campaigning.  Murdoch, Bezos and Musk will work together to support the effort, while DC Lawfare will try to keep Trump from campaigning.  This will take place simultaneous to the NBD Pac and RGA going full negative with campaign ads.

That is the basic outline.  I’ll get more specific as the data points assemble and the very granular tripwires become more predictable.  Oh, and relax, none of this is difficult to defeat… lol…  After all, you just read the plan.  They don’t have ‘voters’, they have schemes.

As Predicted Miami Mayor Francis Suarez Files to Run for 2024 GOP Nomination

Posted originally on the CTH on June 14, 2023 | Sundance

Hopefully Team Trump was reading here last year when we predicted the moves of the professionally Republican. 😉 Today, as predicted, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez files to run for the 2024 GOP nomination.   He’s not running to win; he’s running to split. I’ll explain. Murdoch had Suarez on Fox News Sunday for a reason.

FOX NEWS – Miami Mayor Francis Suarez officially filed paperwork on Wednesday declaring his campaign for president in 2024 as a Republican, according to a Federal Election Commission filing.

The filing comes after a newly re-branded super PAC that supports Suarez launched a digital ad blitz earlier Wednesday in the first four states that hold contests in the 2024 GOP presidential nominating calendar. (more)

Here’s the Florida plan from the CLUB.  ♦Carve out the largest voter population center of Miami-Dade from the GOP nomination (that’s what Suarez is for). ♦Change the Florida primary rules from the current ‘winner-take-all,’ so that delegates are distributed ‘proportionately’ (will happen rules).  ♦Split the remainder of the state votes between DeSantis and Trump, permitting DeSantis to carry out delegates with a 2nd place finish.

[CURRENT POLLING]

The “Florida Play” won’t work as effectively now that Ron DeSantis is naked with his ambitions to the public.  That’s a big part of the reason why I went full wolverine as soon as I saw the design last summer.  It’s also the reason why I included Suarez in the graphic above, while everyone laughed at me.

The GOPe is predictable.

Now watch two things. 1. Watch for the Florida delegate rule changes; and 2. Keep watching nationally for the moves of the Republican Governors Association (RGA).

The Club plan requires the RGA to play a big role against Trump.  The Republican Governors are under pressure to align with the program.  The RGA is funded and controlled by the same donors to Ron DeSantis.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

If you cannot be honest with voters about your ambitions, and if you must deceive them in your reelection effort in order to fulfill the obligations to the masters who control you, then you do not deserve a leadership position.

If your ambitions need lies as the cornerstone of the plan to achieve them, then yeah, I will smite you!

Your plan to take down President Trump will not succeed.

I can see you!

Miami-Dade loves Donald Trump.

Why do you think Trump went to Cafe’ Versailles, a Cuban-American bakery yesterday?

President Donald J. Trump can see you too!

DeSantis Transfers $83 Million Raised for Governor Race to National Campaign PAC

Posted originally on the CTH on June 14, 2023 | Sundance

As expected, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is transferring the money he raised while running for reelection into a superpac to support his presidential ambitions.  Florida donors to his reelection might not be too happy with this decision, but that’s what professional Republicans do – details below.

As one person put it, “DeSantis used Florida like an Uber” to achieve his real ambitions.  As we noted last year, this plan was increasingly obvious {GO DEEP} and in hindsight very disappointing.  Every single move happened exactly as we predicted. Many Floridians I have talked to feel suckered by the duplicity.

Additionally, DeSantis is heading to the exclusive Yale Club in New York this month {link} to meet with Wall Street donors, multinational corporate executives, and at least one mega donor with links to George Soros organization; go figure.

WASHINGTON – The Florida political committee once controlled by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis transferred $82.5 million last month to a super PAC supporting his presidential campaign, according to information posted to the committee’s website.

The shift of the funds has been anticipated ever since DeSantis entered the race with tens of millions of dollars left over from his 2022 reelection bid. However, the move nevertheless makes official an unprecedented effort by DeSantis allies to test the limits of campaign finance laws to benefit a presidential contender.

The Campaign Legal Center, a watchdog group, has already filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commision, flagging the expected transfer as potentially illegal. The organization alleges that DeSantis had unlawfully directed the money into a super PAC, Never Back Down, which is supposed to operate independently of candidates.

It’s unclear whether the FEC can – or will – step in. A similar case arose during the 2020 election, concerning the management of funds by GOP Rep. Byron Donalds. The FEC took no enforcement action in that case.

DeSantis shattered fundraising records for a non-self-funded gubernatorial candidate during his reelection, raising more than $190 million between his committee and campaign in the two years leading up to the 2022 midterms. But DeSantis needed far less than that to defeat Democrat Charlie Crist and entered 2023 with tens of millions left over. He added to that amount in the months between his reelection and announcing his campaign for president. (more)

Here are the details on Ron’s true allegiances – the source of much of the campaign cash he has been assembling in his effort to defeat Donald Trump on their behalf.

NEW YORK – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is coming to New York for a private presidential campaign fundraiser that’s set to be hosted by at least four Wall Street executives, including one with past ties to a firm backed by liberal billionaire George Soros, a frequent target of DeSantis and other Republicans.

The event is scheduled to take place June 29 at the swanky Yale Club, according to a copy of an invitation seen by CNBC. It will be one of DeSantis’ first fundraisers in the Big Apple since he officially launched his campaign for president last month.

The hosts listed on the DeSantis invitation include Paul Ardire, a partner at GoldenTree Asset Management, along with Christian Michalik, Rob Michalik and Corwynne Carruthers, who are all leaders at Kinderhook Industries, a private equity firm with at least $5 billion in assets under management, according to data from PitchBook. GoldenTree has at least $50 billion in assets under management, PitchBook says.

[…] According to the invitation, in order to attend the DeSantis fundraiser, a co-host must raise $50,000 and attendees to the lunch must contribute $6,600, the maximum amount a donor can give that can then be split evenly between the primary campaign account and the general election account. DeSantis is not going to live this down in Florida.  Once his failed campaign comes to an end, there is not going to be any forgiveness for his fraud.

Mike Pence Officially Enters 2024 Presidential Primary

Posted originally on the CTH on June 5, 2023 | Sundance

Former Vice President Mike Pence has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to officially declare his candidacy to win the 2024 GOP nomination.

Pence is expected to publicly launch his campaign with a Wednesday rally in Des Moines, Iowa. He is also expected to hold additional events in the state following his campaign announcement, including a CNN town hall at Grand View University. In order to pretend his way onto the GOP debate stage, Pence is putting all of his election eggs into the Iowa basket.

WASHINGTON DC – Mike Pence filed paperwork on Monday to run for president, setting up an unprecedented contest between a former vice president and a former president of his own party for the nomination. His largest task will be attempting to win back Republicans who largely cast him aside following Donald Trump’s presidency.

Pence’s entry into the race comes after a sometimes tumultuous two years in the political wilderness following his actions on Jan. 6 to certify the 2020 election, resisting intense pressure from Trump. He has occasionally faced boos from the MAGA base at GOP confabs in places such as a Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Florida in 2021 and even on his home turf at a National Rifle Association meeting in Indianapolis this year.

The former six-term congressman and one-term Indiana governor sees an opportunity in Iowa. There, his advisers are betting he can lavish attention and rebuild the coalition of evangelical voters that delivered caucus victories to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in 2016, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania in 2012 and former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas in 2008. Pence hired the architect of Huckabee’s campaign, Chip Saltsman, to help him do just that.

“Iowa feels more like Indiana more than any other state in the nation,” Pence told voters in Des Moines late last month. (read more)

In related news, Gov. Chris Sununu (R-N.H.) announced Monday that he will not enter the 2024 Republican presidential primary, saying a crowded field will only help former President Donald Trump win. (link)

RNC Announces Debate Qualifications for Approved “Republican” Candidates, Including Loyalty Pledge

Posted originally on the CTH on June 2, 2023 | Sundance

Let us be clear and non-pretending.  The RNC, a private corporation run by U.S. multinational corporations, billionaires and donors who control it, is a private club – who construct the rules of affiliation according to the interests and demands of the benefactors.

The RNC club, the right side of the UniParty corporate structure, has zero consideration or interest in the opinion of voters forced to register in their affiliation.

The people who fund the RNC have established the rules for participation in the club debate.  The first club debate is scheduled for August 23, 2023, on Fox News with the approved process through the prism of Rupert Murdoch and Paul Ryan.  Those club rules include:

♦ A qualifying candidate must poll support at least 1% in three national polls, OR 1% in two national polls and 1% in one early state poll from two separate “carve out” states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina) as conducted by polling recognized and approved by the RNC club.

This rule will elevate all the purposeful idiot club members the voters do not like onto the stage.  After all, what good is a plan to split the vote if the club cannot give the optics needed for the operation.  In essence, and in fact, in order for Chris Christie and Nikki Haley to attack Trump on behalf of DeSantis, they must be on the stage.

♦ Each candidate must meet this polling requirement no later than 48 hours prior to the first scheduled debate and must originate from polling conducted on or after July 1, 2023.

♦ The Candidate must have a minimum of 40,000 unique donors to candidate’s principal presidential campaign committee (or exploratory committee), with at least 200 unique donors per state or territory in 20+ states and/or territories. Evidence of this donor support must be presented to RNC club no later than 48 hours prior to the first scheduled debate.

The RNC club will then use this donor data to request more money for their club operations.

♦ Each candidate must have signed a pledge agreeing to support the eventual club nominee, in order to be considered an “approved republican.”

If the candidate does not support the club rules, the candidate is not approved.

Do you guys see how ridiculously screwed up our system of American party politics is?

If I were advising Donald Trump, or any candidate, I would tell them to put out an official statement that says:

“My loyalty is to the American people, not a private club or politically affiliated corporation. I will not be signing a loyalty pledge to anyone except the American people through my oath of office.  Additionally, my view of our nation does not include any division, subset or categorization of personage based on political affiliation.”

The first rule in the maintenance of a constitutional republic, with the end goal to eliminate corporatism in US politics, should be to outlaw the formation of any political party.

Get rid of political parties, and Bernie Sanders would have been the DNC club candidate in 2016.  Get rid of political parties, and Newt Gingrich would have been the RNC club candidate in 2012.  Get rid of political parties, and voters would see bold contrasts instead of UniParty pastels.

Counter argument – Oh, but if you get rid of political parties then billionaires will just select their guy for office.   My point – WTF do you think we have now?
Of course, Politico gets it exactly wrong – on purpose.

(Via Politico) – The Republican National Committee says it will consider adding a second night to the first GOP presidential primary debate this August in Milwaukee, according to new qualifying standards announced Friday.

The first debate will be Aug. 23 on Fox News Channel, with a possible second date of Aug. 24 if enough candidates meet polling and fundraising criteria — and also commit to supporting the eventual Republican nominee and pledge that they will not participate in any outside debates.

Candidates will have to garner donations from at least 40,000 national contributors and poll consistently above 1 percent in three national polls or two national polls and a state poll, according to the RNC’s announcement. Candidates must secure donations “with at least 200 unique donors per state or territory in 20+ states and/or territories.”

The candidates will have until Aug. 21 — 48 hours before the debate — to meet the criteria. Polls conducted prior to July 1 won’t count toward qualification.

The new standards appear designed to prevent the free-for-all, circus-like debates that occurred in the 2016 Republican primaries. Though it’s too soon to know which candidates will clear the thresholds, the criteria are likely to be difficult for at least some hopefuls to clear.

A smaller stage could benefit Ron DeSantis, who wants a one-on-one matchup with former President Donald Trump. The former president is welcoming a large field to splinter the opposition to him. (read more)

Mike Pence Will Launch 2024 GOP Nomination Effort From Des Moines Iowa, June 7th

Posted originally on the CTH on May 31, 2023 | Sundance

According to NBC and confirmed by Politico, former Indiana Governor Mike Pence is scheduled to launch his bid for the GOP nomination in Iowa on June 7th.

Oddly, and speaking to the framework of the larger GOPe operation, Pence isn’t making his announcement in his home state; instead, he is going to launch his campaign during a speech in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mike Pence is a well-known name to voters having previously been vice-president to Donald Trump, and he is currently polling around 3% support according to Monmouth.

In his biggest role as Vice-President, Mike Pence was in charge of the federal COVID-19 emergency response as head of the White House COVID taskforce in 2020.

Pence is a well-known traditional Republican who identifies with voters primarily on social issues.  Pence will make an appeal to the evangelical community in Iowa and is organized in that effort by GOP brand consultant Chip Saltsman, the architect of former Gov. Mike Huckabee’s 2008 Iowa caucuses victory.

(Via NBC) – Mike Pence plans to enter the GOP presidential nomination fray June 7 with a campaign video and a kickoff speech in Des Moines, Iowa, according to a person familiar with his launch schedule.

The former vice president, a longtime advocate of the priorities of traditional conservatives on social and economic issues, will join the race at a time when his onetime boss, former President Donald Trump, claims a majority in most national polls and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is in a clear second place.

Redefining himself to Republican voters, most of whom know him primarily as Trump’s vice president, will be a challenge.

But the Indiana-bred Pence views his fellow Midwesterners in the Iowa GOP, and their first-in-the-nation caucuses, as a hospitable home for his brand of politics. Typically, the Iowa caucuses play a winnowing role in the nomination fight, providing rocket fuel to a handful of candidates while burying the hopes of the rest.

“We view this race as absolutely wide open, and Iowa is really going to solidify itself as the pivotal player,” the person familiar with Pence’s plans said. “It’s a place that values Mike Pence’s principles — traditional conservative principles — deep-rooted faith and uncommon character.” (read more)

Pence’s job, on behalf of the Sea Island group, will be to present an optical contrast to the unacceptable vulgarian Trump, while Chris Christie acts as the attack dog and the rest of the field protect Ron DeSantis from The Great Godzilla MAGA King.

The team effort is increasingly transparent, and the debate hosts, like Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, are proactively positioning to shape the staged narrative.  At this point in the dynamic, it is all rather shallow and obvious; however, in approved Republican operations – they never look outside the cloister.

John Thune Will Endorse Tim Scott for 2024 GOPe Nomination – It Is Time for the Senate to Protect Its Interests

Posted originally on the CTH on May 21, 2023 | Sundance

A report today in Politico states the next Senate Leader, the heir to the McConnell legacy, John Thune, will be endorsing South Carolina Tim Scott for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.  This approach makes sense, because the modern Senate is a rogue division within the modern branches of government.

The modern Senate has unique corrupt interests that are specific to the upper chamber, and those interests must be defended from any possibility of diminished influence.  The current U.S. senate does not consider themselves to be a co-equal branch, especially since they created the weaponized intelligence apparatus to give them greater power.

The Senate is where the DeceptiCons rule with targeted desire, influence and affluence.  They consider themselves more important than the government they are a part of.  Nothing was more detrimental to the principle of freedom than the 17th amendment.  The Senate rulers stroll the halls like Greek Gods filled with omnipotent power. They are vile parasites destroying our republican form of government… They are DeceptiCons.

WASHINGTON DC – Sen. John Thune, the Senate’s No. 2 Republican, is endorsing the presidential campaign of Sen. Tim Scott, according to a person familiar with his plans.

The South Dakota senator will appear at Scott’s presidential launch on Monday in South Carolina, the person said. Scott will announce his presidential run on Monday in North Charleston and has already launched an ad blitz.

In backing Scott, the Senate minority whip becomes the highest-ranking congressional Republican to back the South Carolina senator. And he joins his South Dakota colleague Sen. Mike Rounds in backing Scott, who is popular among Senate Republicans. Some members of House leadership have already indicated they support former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

But Thune is making good on his hopes of turning the GOP away from Trump and presenting a more forward-looking vision for the party. Thune recoiled from Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, famously declaring that his election challenge would go down on the Senate floor like a “shot dog.” That drew a political threat from Trump, but Thune easily won reelection last year.

Since then, Thune made clear he did not think Trump’s style was suitable for the party, and said in November that “it’s clear that running on relitigating the 2020 election is not a winning strategy.” He has also praised Scott’s strengths as a candidate, concluding last year that Scott has “obviously helped a lot of people around the country in the last year, raised a lot of money and built a lot of relationships that can be very useful if he does” run.

Scott could pick up more Senate endorsements in the coming days because of his throwback style of conservatism and optimistic rhetoric, particularly for Republicans looking for a non-Trump candidate to get behind. (read more)

Georgia Gov Brian Kemp Organizes Billionaire Bush Clan on Sea Island to Plot State for DeSantis, While GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger Meets With Zuckerberg CEIR Election Manipulation Group

Posted originally on the CTH on May 9, 2023 | Sundance

The Bush clan is always in the background, like the stench of a rotting whale carcass just over the horizon.

With Georgia on their mind for 2024, Governor Brian Kemp hosts a stop Trump confab at their infamous and preferred Sea Island retreat.  Meanwhile, thanks to the intrepid boots-on-ground reporting of Laura Loomer, we discover that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is meeting with Zuckerberg’s far-left Center for Election Innovation & Research (CEIR), in Washington DC.

Why would state election officials be meeting with far-left election manipulation groups.  Well, put those two datapoints together, and once again the strings on the election official marionettes start glowing.  As we have said from the outset of the DeSantis construct in early 2022, watch the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) closely.

We are about to see exactly how the billionaire corporate funders control the Red State operations and manufacture the ‘illusion of choice‘.  The difference between now and the Romney era of 2012, through the Bush era of 2016, is that the American electorate are eyes-wide-open.  We are watching the assembly in real time, and once again at CTH we have no financial affiliation to influence our sunlight.  The gang might be getting back together, but The Truth Has No Agenda.

[Source – May 8, John Boehner attending Stop Trump Summit]

GEORGIA – […] Kemp gathered donors this week for a three-day retreat on Sea Island, Georgia, to plan for the 2024 campaign with a focus on the specific role of Georgia, a vital state for Republicans if they have any hope of winning the White House. According to a source familiar with the retreat, the event raised $1.2 million for Kemp’s committees.

The retreat comes as former President Donald Trump leads in the polls among 2024 GOP presidential candidates, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in second — but trailing — as he prepares to announce his campaign.

Kemp’s activities around 2024 raise his national profile and position him to be part of the mix for a gubernatorial alternative for president should DeSantis stumble. At the least, it positions him for a possible Senate run in 2026, since he will be barred from running for governor again because of state term limits.

Kemp’s private retreat featured a long list of Republican operatives and leaders who gave presentations on a wide range of topics connected to the next election. Speakers included former House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio; Karl Rove, former senior adviser to President George W. Bush; and former Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia.

During his remarks to the group, Kemp outlined what he believes the eventual GOP nominee must focus on for the party to be successful in 2024.

“First, we have to tell voters what we’re for. Second, focus on the future. And third, we have to be able to win a general election. Because we can’t score points if we don’t have the ball,” Kemp said, according to the source familiar with the retreat.

Kemp never mentioned Trump by name, but he warned Republicans that it will be difficult to win back the White House if the party continues to relitigate the 2020 election. He also has repeatedly said that electability should be a priority for GOP primary voters.

After the 2020 election, Trump was angry that Kemp did not do more to challenge the presidential results in Georgia, so much so that he recruited former Sen. David Perdue to challenge Kemp in the Republican primary for governor in 2022. Kemp soundly defeated Perdue, and then Stacey Abrams, to win re-election.

The retreat was put on by Kemp’s Hardworking Americans Inc., a federal super PAC he launched shortly after winning re-election last fall, and Georgia First Leadership Committee, his state leadership PAC.  (read more)

A fireside chat Sunday night to kick off the retreat between Kemp and Boehner. A panel moderated by conservative radio host Erick Erickson, featuring Rove and conservative pollster Brent Buchanan. A discussion with Kemp’s data guru Mark Stephenson.
