Inflation Drops to 2.1%, Personal Income Tripled Expectations, U.S. Trade Deficit Drops by 46 Percent

Posted originally on CTH on May 31, 2025 | Sundance

Self-interested Wall Street analysts and leftist economic ‘experts’ once again proven wrong.  It is almost impossible to find any financial data review written objectively by media.  Everything is skewed with a negative tone, yet the data clearly shows -just like 2017- President Trump’s MAGAnomic policy benefits are starting to surface.

News pundits said President Trump’s tariff policies would skyrocket prices.  In reality the yearly inflation rate [BLS data] has dropped to 2.1%, the lowest in four years.  Core prices (removing food and energy) rose 2.5% from a year earlier, below the March figure of 2.7%, and the lowest in more than four years.

Meanwhile personal incomes tripled expectations coming in at 0.8% for the month of April. “Personal income surged 0.8% well ahead of the forecast for 0.3%.”  Then comes the predictable.  The trade deficit dropped by 46% in the month of April.

[…] The goods trade gap contracted 46.0% to $87.6 billion last month, the Commerce Department’s Census Bureau said on Friday. Goods imports decreased $68.4 billion to $276.1 billion. Exports of goods increased $6.3 billion to $188.5 billion. (source)

Companies front-loaded their orders from China in February and March, causing imports to skyrocket and a massive skew in the GDP data.  As expected in April there are fewer orders because the goods were already received in the first quarter, imports drop in half.

Despite increased tariffs we are likely to see a replay of pricing parity similar to 2017 as companies benefit from lowered energy prices, lower fuel costs, lower Transporation and lower warehousing costs.  Simultaneously, export companies who rely on access to the U.S. market will attempt to offset any tariff price as applied. Those combined savings can, likely will, offset increased tariffs on arriving goods.

Consumers benefit from lower gasoline costs, lower overall electricity costs and increased demand for labor within a growing economy that puts natural upward pressure on wages.

SUMMARY of Friday: Personal income jumped 0.8% this month, tripling expectations. The US trade deficit has been cut almost in half, the largest single-month narrowing of the deficit on record. U.S. core inflation falls to the lowest level in 4 years. The Supreme Court gives President Trump the green light to reverse Biden’s immigration influx of Venezuelans/Cubans/Haitians/Nicaraguans. And Volkswagen announced they are making a “massive” investment in the U.S to avoid tariffs.

(NY POST) – Volkswagen is holding “fair” and “constructive” talks with the United States government on tariffs and wants to make further investments in the country, CEO Oliver Blume told German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

Several foreign companies have announced new US investments in response to President Donald Trump’s import tariffs, but German carmakers have been more cautious about committing more resources to what is their biggest export market.

Volkswagen’s Audi brand, which has no production in the United States, is planning to produce some models in there, although the brand has said that the plan pre-dates the Trump administration. (link)

New York Times Suddenly Concerned About Palantir Data Compilation and Building of Surveillance State

Posted originally on CTH on May 30, 2025 | Sundance

The New York Times (think DHS embeds) are not concerned about the building of a surveillance state using cross-reference artificial intelligence systems into various government agencies; no, the New York Times (think DHS embeds) are concerned it is President Trump triggering the building of the process, and the parameters therein.

I have outlined this seemingly inevitable construct with great granular detail, that is creating the surveillance state for almost a year. Culminating in a December 2024 recap [SEE HERE] along with my position in January of this year [SEE HERE].  I do not like it, but I understand the arguments behind it.

[New York Times] – In March, President Trump signed an executive order calling for the federal government to share data across agencies, raising questions over whether he might compile a master list of personal information on Americans that could give him untold surveillance power.

Mr. Trump has not publicly talked about the effort since. But behind the scenes, officials have quietly put technological building blocks into place to enable his plan. In particular, they have turned to one company: Palantir, the data analysis and technology firm.

The Trump administration has expanded Palantir’s work across the federal government in recent months. The company has received more than $113 million in federal government spending since Mr. Trump took office, according to public records, including additional funds from existing contracts as well as new contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon. (This does not include a $795 million contract that the Department of Defense awarded the company last week, which has not been spent.)

Representatives of Palantir are also speaking to at least two other agencies — the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service — about buying its technology, according to six government officials and Palantir employees with knowledge of the discussions.

The push has put a key Palantir product called Foundry into at least four federal agencies, including D.H.S. and the Health and Human Services Department. Widely adopting Foundry, which organizes and analyzes data, paves the way for Mr. Trump to easily merge information from different agencies, the government officials said.

Creating detailed portraits of Americans based on government data is not just a pipe dream. The Trump administration has already sought access to hundreds of data points on citizens and others through government databases.

[…] Palantir’s selection as a chief vendor for the project was driven by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, according to the government officials. At least three DOGE members formerly worked at Palantir, while two others had worked at companies funded by Peter Thiel, an investor and a founder of Palantir. (read more)

Every element of the U.S. surveillance state is contingent upon selling the ‘security’ message.  With a comprehensive and interconnected database of identity for all Americans: •it makes illegal alien captures and deportations more efficient; •it makes eliminating fraud and abuse in the entitlement programs more substantial; •it can make voting more secure, and •it could protect the identity of Americans from theft and exploitation.

Peter Thiel (Palantir), Elon Musk (xAI, SpaceX), Larry Ellison (Oracle), David Sacks and a host of mutually aligned artificial intelligence builders stand to benefit financially from a technologically efficient Surveillance State. Their companies and their AI software products are the targeting tools within the DHS surveillance system itself.

Do not be misled by their ownership of different companies within this construct, they are all mutually allied; factually, they are all friends in the same tech sector.

The tools created by Palantir et al, are multifunctional. They can be used by the Pentagon and CIA for military application, and they can be used by DNI, DHS, FBI and TSA for domestic application.

Just as the Patriot Act redefined “terror threats” to begin sweeping 360 degrees, so too are the tools of the surveillance state designed for both foreign and domestic application.

There is no way to avoid being the target of a weapon once that weapon is created. However, unlike the mutually assured destruction within the nuclear analogy, there will be no threat of mutual application within the surveillance bomb.  There are going to be castes or tiers of people not subjected to the outcome of detonation; therein lies my biggest point against it.

There are going to be tiers of people who are not subjected to the rules of the Surveillance State. There are going to be tiers of people, powerful, influential, some intensely rich people, to whom the application of the surveillance does not exist.

I have already seen this ‘tiered’ system starting to come into place. I have witnessed firsthand the outcomes of the software being deployed within the design of their building.  I have witnessed real identities masked by the system as an outcome of their status. Facial recognition programs that black out search results based on arbitrary definitions and determinations of those who control the surveillance application.

Inside the surveillance system, supported by the policy team behind President Trump, there will be classes of people. Just as we defined “essential workers” within the COVID-19 pandemic. This essential group will be classed based on their administrative value to the government operators who control the mechanics of outcomes; perhaps “essential administrators.” This is a natural outcome of the mindset behind “continuity of government,” the baseline for the Patriot Act creation.

I have traveled throughout the East and West to gain perspective on what makes us different; what makes Americans different.  What I can assert with clarity is that if we lose the Liberty argument then the ideological representatives behind Barack Obama will have succeeded, the fundamental transformation will be irreversible.

While the Declaration of Independence is long regarded as the greatest written declaration of purpose, the latter created Bill of Rights, the first Ten original amendments to the U.S. Constitution, is just as important. The first declared our intent; the second defined how our founders intended to retain the intent during our collective assembly. Together they outline what set the course to make America great.

This frames the cornerstone of my viewpoints on all of the characters in politics.  It is not a matter of debate that on these core issues of Liberty and the concerns around the Surveillance State will impact us all.  Everything else is a downstream consequence.

If the system is unavoidable, then what underpins my opposition?  Well, the tiered system of constitutional protections only for particular categories of personage must be rebuked.  On this matter there cannot be compromise, because every outcome that impedes our way of life is a derivative of this value, “all men are created equal.”

What is the value of national security, when the liberty that secures the values of America is destroyed in the process? Either the Fourth Amendment means something, or it does not!

President Trump Notes China “Has Totally Violated” the Geneva Agreement

Posted originally on CTH on May 30, 2025 | Sundance

Not surprisingly, it appears the Chinese trade delegation that previously made commitments in Geneva, Switzerland, were wearing a panda mask at the time of the negotiations with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

According to a Truth Social post shared by President Trump, the panda mask was recently removed and the true Beijing dragon behind it appeared. This is not a shock to anyone who has followed the dynamic of Chinese trade promises and practices for a while.

PRESIDENT TRUMP – “Two weeks ago China was in grave economic danger! The very high Tariffs I set made it virtually impossible for China to TRADE into the United States marketplace which is, by far, number one in the World. We went, in effect, COLD TURKEY with China, and it was devastating for them. Many factories closed and there was, to put it mildly, “civil unrest.” I saw what was happening and didn’t like it, for them, not for us. I made a FAST DEAL with China in order to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation, and I didn’t want to see that happen. Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized, and China got back to business as usual. Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!! The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!”

China was moving slowly on promises to issue export licenses for rare earths minerals. The Geneva deal called for China to lift trade countermeasures that restrict its exports of the critical metals needed for U.S. semiconductor, electronics and defense production.

“The Chinese are slow-rolling their compliance, which is completely unacceptable, and it has to be addressed,” U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer told CNBC, without specifying how that would happen.

Supreme Court Rules 7-2 to Permit Removal of 500,000 Migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela

Posted originally on CTH on May 30, 2025 | Sundance

A federal judge in Boston previously blocked the Trump administration’s plan to end a Biden-era program that granted humanitarian parole protection for more than 500,000 migrants from: Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.  Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that President Trump can eliminate the program and potentially deport the migrants. [RULING HERE w/ KBJ Dissent]

[SOURCE]

This is a good opportunity to remind everyone that installing Justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson was an Obama operation using Joe Biden. I wrote about the plan a full year before KBJ was nominated to the Supreme Court [GO DEEP] Everything was by design.

Ketanji Brown-Jackson was always going to be installed in the supreme court as part of the overall Obama team’s use of Joe Biden.  Merrick Garland was removed from his position specifically to create the path for KBJ to travel.  Everything about this was planned well in advance of Biden’s installation.  KBJ is to the judicial branch what BHO was/is to the executive branch.

Merrick Garland was pulled from the DC judicial circuit to replace him with KBJ.  Garland was never going to be the U.S. Attorney General in anything more than a title.  Deputy AG Lisa Monaco was the person in control of Main Justice during Joe Biden’s tenure.

The political pendulum has never, in the history of humanity, stayed on one side of a swing. The back lash from overreach has always been proportionate to how far off center it went before coming back … and right now we’re staring at a whole hell of a lot of the country (about 80-90% of the land mass, as well as about 70% of the population) that is fed up.  As people realize the operation around Joe Biden, more alarms will begin to resound.

The Supreme Court is compromised, not only by the operation that installed Justice Brown-Jackson, but also by the activity President Trump noted in his full wolverine message last night about the Federalist Society.  Additionally, Chief Justice John Roberts is navigating a minefield of surfacing consequences from his previously political operation surrounding former SCOTUS Staffer Sheldon Snook and the leak of the Dobbs decision.

If we know Mary McCord’s husband Sheldon Snook leaked the Dobbs decision, it is only a matter of time before the reinvigorated FBI investigation into the Supreme Court leak discovers the source.  What happens then?

When I travel to Washington DC, discuss ancillary investigative issues and then begin to outline these factual series of events, trust me – none of the people in positions of authority want to talk about it.  They are scared; they don’t even want to know. It’s like they encounter a truth-carrying Ebola virus that scares the bejeebus out of them. [Yet in some ways, it’s cool; because truth carried as a weapon protects us from their backlash.]

I always depart the conversations with the same short message, “Think about it. If I know, then it’s only a matter of time.”  There is never a reply, just a look that says they’re now thinking about stuff they don’t want to think about.

To say things in the judicial branch are precarious is an understatement.

WASHINGTON DC – […] The immigrants who entered through the programs will now lose their permits to work in the U.S. and are at risk of imminent deportation, although many are expected to apply for asylum or similar protections.

Two Democratic-appointed justices — Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson — dissented.

The majority’s decision to allow the administration to cancel the programs while legal challenges were still pending will “facilitate needless human suffering” and will unleash “devastation” on the affected immigrants, Jackson wrote in an eight-page dissent joined by Sotomayor.

In March, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revoked the legal status of immigrants in the so-called CHNV parole programs and gave participants 30 days to leave the U.S. However, a federal judge in Boston blocked Noem’s move the following month, concluding that “en masse” termination of the groups’ immigration status was likely illegal and that officials could end individuals’ parole grants early only on a case-by-case basis.

The high court granted the administration’s emergency appeal seeking to lift that block while litigation continues.

While about 500,000 Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan immigrants are directly affected by the ruling, it may have consequences for about 500,000 others allowed into the U.S. under the same parole provision, including Ukrainians, Afghans and children from Central America. (read more)

President Trump Goes Full Wolverine Mode

Posted originally on CTH on May 29, 2025 | Sundance

Pushed far enough, decisions are reached.

[VIA TRUTH SOCIAL] “The U.S. Court of International Trade incredibly ruled against the United States of America on desperately needed Tariffs but, fortunately, the full 11 Judge Panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Court has just stayed the order by the Manhattan-based Court of International Trade. Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America? Is it purely a hatred of “TRUMP?” What other reason could it be?

I was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I use The Federalist Society as a recommending source on Judges. I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb of a real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions. He openly brags how he controls Judges, and even Justices of the United States Supreme Court — I hope that is not so, and don’t believe it is! In any event, Leo left The Federalist Society to do his own “thing.” I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations. This is something that cannot be forgotten!

With all of that being said, I am very proud of many of our picks, but very disappointed in others. They always must do what’s right for the Country! In this case, it is only because of my successful use of Tariffs that many Trillions of Dollars have already begun pouring into the U.S.A. from other Countries, money that, without these Tariffs, we would not be able to get. It is the difference between having a rich, prosperous, and successful United States of America, and quite the opposite.

The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political! Hopefully, the Supreme Court will reverse this horrible, Country threatening decision, QUICKLY and DECISIVELY. Backroom “hustlers” must not be allowed to destroy our Nation!

The horrific decision stated that I would have to get the approval of Congress for these Tariffs. In other words, hundreds of politicians would sit around D.C. for weeks, and even months, trying to come to a conclusion as to what to charge other Countries that are treating us unfairly. If allowed to stand, this would completely destroy Presidential Power — The Presidency would never be the same!

This decision is being hailed all over the World by every Country, other than the United States of America. Radical Left Judges, together with some very bad people, are destroying America. Under this decision, Trillions of Dollars would be lost by our Country, money that will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. It would be the harshest financial ruling ever leveled on us as a Sovereign Nation. The President of the United States must be allowed to protect America against those that are doing it Economic and Financial harm.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!” (source)

To truly understand the anger, you must remind yourself that MAGAnomics, the construct of every economic policy and strategy, is entirely controlled by President Trump.  There is not one component of the larger economic policy agenda that he delegates to another.

The economy and building American wealth are his primary focus. It is the entire reason Donald Trump decided to be in politics.

Whoops – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney Celebrated the Federal Trade Court Ruling a Touch too Early

Posted originally on CTH on May 29, 2025 | Sundance

The current Canadian Prime Minister is genuinely a walking meme of a Canadian Prime Minister parody.

During his remarks to parliament today, Prime Minister Carney waxed gleefully about the U.S. federal trade court ruling against President Trump’s tariffs, just moments before the federal appeals court stayed the opinion of the lower court.  It’s a little funny.

PM Carney doesn’t seem to recognize the reality of the economic landscape before him.  He complains about blocked access to the U.S. consumer base with a level of entitlement that’s genuinely humorous.  Meanwhile, the Canadian economy around him is collapsing.  WATCH:

♦ BACKGROUND – Following the 2024 presidential election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau traveled to Mar-a-Lago and said if President Trump was to make the Canadian government face reciprocal tariffs, open the USMCA trade agreements to force reciprocity, and/or balance economic relations on non-tariff issues, then Canada would collapse upon itself economically and cease to exist.  In essence, in addition to the NATO defense shortfall, Canada cannot survive as a free and independent north American nation, without receiving all the one-way benefits from the U.S. economy.

To wit, President Trump then said, if Canada cannot survive in a balanced rules environment, including putting together their own military and defenses and meeting their NATO obligations, then Canada should become the 51st U.S state.  It was following this meeting that President Trump started emphasizing this point and shocking everyone in the process.  However, in the emotional reaction to Trump’s statements, no-one looked at the core issues outlined by Trudeau that framed President Trump’s opinion.

Representing Canada, Justin Trudeau was not expressing an unwillingness to comply with fairness and reciprocity in trade with the USA, what Trudeau was expressing was an inability to comply.

Quite simply, after decades of shifting priorities, Canada no longer has the internal economic capability to comply with a fair-trade agreement (FTA).  Trudeau was not lying, and President Trump understood the argument; hence his 51st state remarks.

This is where it becomes important to understand the core reason why Trump, Ross and Lighthizer (2017) did not structurally want to replace the NAFTA agreement with another trilateral trade deal. Mexico and Canada are completely different as it pertains to trade with the USA. President Trump would rather have two separate bilateral agreements; one for Mexico and one for Canada.

♦ Firstly, Canada is a NATO partner, Mexico is not.  As President Trump affirmed to Justin Trudeau during the meeting, it would be unfair of President Trump to discuss NATO funding with the European Union, while Canada is one of the worst offenders.  Trump is leveraging favorable trade terms and tariff relief with the EU member states, as a carrot to get them into compliance with the 2.0 to 2.5% spending requirement for their military.

If the NATO member states contribute more to their own defense, the U.S. can pull back spending and save Americans money.  However, Canada is currently 26th in NATO funding, spending only 1.37% of their GDP on defense (link).

Canada would have to spend at least another $15 billion/yr on their defense programs in order to reach 2.0%.  Justin Trudeau told President Trump that was an impossible goal given the nature of the Canadian political system, and the current size of their economy ($2.25 trillion).

♦ Secondly, over the last 40 years Canada has deindustrialized their economy, Mexico has not.  As the progressive political ideology of their politicians took control of Canada policy, the ‘climate change’ agenda and ‘green’ economy became their focus.  The dirty industrialized systems were not compliant with the goals of the Canadian policy makers.

The dirty mining sector (coal, coking coal, ore) no longer exists at scale to support self-sufficient manufacturing.  The dirty oil refineries do not exist to refine the crude oil they extract.  Large industrial heavy industry no longer exists at a scale needed to be self-sufficient.  Instead, Canada purchases forged and rolled steel component parts from overseas (mostly China).  Making the issue more challenging, Canada doesn’t even have enough people skilled to do the dirty jobs within the heavy manufacturing; they would need a national apprenticeship program.  Again, all points raised by Trudeau to explain why bilateral trade compliance was impossible.

♦ Thirdly, the trade between Canada/U. S and Mexico/U. S is entirely different.  The main imports from Canada are energy, lumber and raw materials. The main imports from Mexico are agriculture, cars and finished industrial goods.  Mexico refines its own oil; Canada ships their oil to the USA for refining.  There are obviously some similar products from Mexico and Canada, but for the most part there is a big difference.

♦ Forth, USA banks are allowed to operate in Mexico, but USA banks are not allowed to operate in Canada.  USA media organizations are allowed to broadcast in Mexico, but USA media organizations are regulated and not permitted to broadcast in Canada.  The Canadian government has strong regulations and restrictions on information and Intellectual Property.

All of these points of difference highlight why a trilateral trade agreement like NAFTA and the USMCA just don’t work out for the USA.

Additionally, if President Trump levies a tariff on Chinese imports, it hits Canada much harder than Mexico because Canada has deindustrialized and now imports from China to assemble into finished goods destined to the USA.  In a very direct way Canada is a passthrough for Chinese products.  Canada is now more of an assembly economy, not a dirty job manufacturing economy.

When Trudeau outlines the inability of Canada to agree to trade terms, simply because his country no longer has the capability of adhering to those trade terms, a frustrated President Trump says, “then become a state.”

There is no option to remain taking advantage of the USA on this level, and things are only getting worse.  Thus, the point of irreconcilable conflict is identified.

Because the Canadian government became so dependent on their role as an assembly economy, they enmeshed with China in a way that made them dependent.  The political issues of Chinese influence within Canada are a direct result of this dynamic. In fact, China was the big winner from the outcome of the recent election because all of their investments into Canada are grounded on retaining Liberal government dependency.

If Trump targets China with punitive tariffs, the Canadian economy will be collaterally damaged.  Canada will end up paying a tariff rate because they use cheap Chinese component parts in their finished goods.  Canada has structurally designed their economy to do this over multiple years.

Understanding the unique nature of the Canadian economic conundrum, the only way to address the issue is to break out the USMCA into two separate bilateral trade agreements.  One set of trade terms for Mexico that leverages border security, and one set of trade terms for Canada that leverages NATO security and border security.  The only substantive similarity between them will be in the auto and agriculture sector.

If you think the multinational corporations, political leftists and UniParty Republicans in the USA are strongly opposing Trump now, just wait until later this year when the Trump administration proposes the elimination of the trilateral North American trade agreement, USMCA.

According to the World Bank, the USA economy is $27.3 trillion.  Canada is $2.1 trillion.

Do the math!

[…] The expectation, according to two people close to the White House, is that negotiations to permanently remove the threat of painful 25 percent tariffs on Canada — which Trump mostly rolled back earlier this month — and other sector-specific tariffs are likely to be folded into the upcoming review of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. That review is due in 2026, but the Trump administration wants to accelerate to this calendar year.

“It makes sense to separate out Canada and Mexico from the rest because they are going to want to redo the USMCA,” said one of the people close to the White House, who were granted anonymity to discuss ongoing deliberations. “They’re going to have separate tariffs that focus specifically on Mexico and Canada, and they’re going to take some actions to squeeze them a little bit.” [LINK]
