Lt General William Joseph “Joe” Hartman is a University of Southern Alabama graduate (class of ’89). Hartman had served as the deputy commander of U.S. Cyber Command, and previously served as commander of the Cyber National Mission Force. Before that, he served in various infantry, intelligence and cyber operations military roles in the U.S., Germany, South Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is expected to nominate Lt. Gen. William Hartman, the acting leader of both the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command, to formally lead both agencies, two people with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO on Thursday.
Hartman has the support of top officials at the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Defense Department, according to one of the people. Both individuals were granted anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly.
[…] Hartman’s paperwork will be sent to the National Security Council before hitting the president’s desk. The dual role is a Senate-confirmed position, given that it is a promotion to four-star general.
[…] Hartman is unlikely to face much pushback to his nomination in the Senate. He testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee’s cyber subcommittee in April, days after Haugh’s dismissal, and garnered praise from both sides of the aisle. (read more)
Hartman’s nomination follows Joe Francescon being picked to serve as deputy director of the NSA.
This is a critical nomination. It is a very interesting dynamic. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) can block a nomination that is against their control efforts and that ultimately this becomes how the SSCI controls the power dynamic within the intelligence apparatus.
Deputy NSA Director Joe Francescon did not require SSCI nomination, and Joe Francescon was fully supported by DNI Tulsi Gabbard. To become Director of the NSA William Joseph Hartman appears acceptable to Gabbard, acceptable to the White House and acceptable to the SSCI.
**BUMPED** How is it that an insignificant corner of the internet could predict the removal of the U.S. National Security Advisor, specifically as the first administration official to be removed, more than two months before Donald Trump was sworn in as President on January 20, 2025?
To understand the complexity of the intelligence information flow, consider:
The silo system is made up, in part, of: The National Security Council (10+ desks, 15 staff/analysts per), the National Security Advisor to the Office of the President, the Dept of Justice National Security Division [DOJ-NSD (foreign review section, counterintelligence export control section, cyber section, counterterrorism section)], Central Intelligence Agency [(CIA), National Intelligence Council, Directorate of Analysis], Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI (Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism, WMD Directorate, Directorate of Intelligence, Cyber)], the Office of the Director of National Intelligence [ODNI (Requirements, Analysis, Collection, National Counterterrorism Center, Mission Managers)], the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Dept of Defense [DoD, (Nuclear, Chemical, Biological, Industrial, International)], the National Security Agency [NSA (Operations, Technology, Cyber], and many more.
Each agency/office a silo, with distinct sub-silos, each with equity stakes in the information they gather, review and analyze; ultimately attributing classification level and intersecting analysis with each other agency as mission aligned.
Sound ridiculous? It probably is, yet we’ve merely scratched the surface of the networks and information flows that swirl around the Office of the President.
How does President Trump frame his world view? Who organizes the information that is prioritized to reach his desk?
It is very easy to say, “President Trump has to know about (fill_in_blank),” without contemplating the process by which President Trump would know about (fill_in_blank). The recent remarks by President Trump, surrounding COVID-19 vaccine efficacy, should put a spotlight on this consequential dynamic.
♦ PIAB – We were all very pleased to see President Trump announce the newly formed President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB), because for more than a decade we have watched how intelligence products were manipulated, shaped and constructed to create the illusion of something that was entirely false.
However, we should note the same process of selecting the PIAB membership led to the previous issue of selecting former Congressman Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor. In that example, CTH predicted what would happen several months before it actually happened.
There are issues of great DC interest that overlay all names and positions within the Trump administration. The subsequent behavior of NSA appointee Mike Waltz was a great reminder that sometimes those interests or judgements are not in alignment with the common MAGA priority.
Big international policy issues, like support for Israel, Ukraine support, NATO support and opinions on the threat Russia or China represents, are all part of the prism through which White House personnel references are traditionally made.
When intended policy runs counter to personal ideology, conflicts arise.
The policies of Wall St -vs- Main St, banking regulations, reciprocal tariffs, trade fairness, cryptocurrency and foundational economic nationalism can be challenging to align with the perspectives of the professional political class, in DC.
The aspect of there being “trillions at stake” applies here, and being an outsider in DC generally comes down to financial interests and financial relationships. Then you run into the issues of the surveillance state, FISA (702) support, data collection and artificial intelligence.
In short, the interests of maintaining the status quo inside Washington DC, which may be interests carried by those in the orbit of President Trump, can stop information from reaching President Trump.
♦ Gordian Knot – As a consequence, cutting through the enmeshed interests with obvious, albeit painful truth, means delivering critical information in such a manner that, well, it cannot be refuted.
We hope this is also the goal of those who have recently been outlining the background of Russiagate. However, given a history of inaction, and the stakes at hand, nothing should be taken for granted.
What’s needed is a full spectrum outing of everything that took place throughout the targeting of President Trump.
Perhaps a lengthy press conference directly in Washington DC, where the adversarial media are confronted with overwhelming evidence of the activity around the targeting (2012-2024), in such a manner that their predictable defensive questioning can be knocked down with specific citation.
A soup-to-nuts threshing of the previous activity – a must watch TV and viral moment- cutting through the entangled issues and breaking them down to their simple core. However, that approach first starts with the ability of a person to outline the issues with exceptional citation.
The citations, what people call the “receipts”, are key. Because the citations underpin the activity, and the citations are vast, spread throughout the entire silo system and in large measure intentionally disconnected.
The story of the Trump targeting and surveillance effort is abundantly clear when the citations are gathered in timeline sequence and order. However, those citations must be woven into the story of how the targeting of Trump took place. It takes telling the story, the remarkably truthful story, for the impact to structurally change perception.
♦ OPTIMISM – We are aware that people in/around term-2 govt have come around to understand the scope of our research on these issues. The 2024 Mike Waltz prediction served a serendipitous purpose; also, you guys know our rehashes are not hymnals to the CTH choir. We are narrowing focus.
Visible confirmation comes in the appearance of change. Specific offices have structurally changed the way they engage with the Intelligence Community. Even while the operatives buried deep in the system are still trying to create false outcomes, the Nat Sec Advisor, CIA Director and ODNI are working with greater synergy.
Literally hundreds of embeds -across multiple silos- have been removed from the aggregate apparatus. The National Security Council has been taken apart, staff removed, desks shuttered. The National Intelligence Council was removed from the CIA with personnel fired. The Directorate of Analysis is now openly confronted. The ICIG is once again a watchdog. This creates optimism that substantive change is possible. [It’s also long overdue] However, much more work lies ahead.
As we began this outline, we shared a small sample of the myriads of silos to emphasize how each agency may not even realize the value within the information they hold. Each extracted puzzle piece fills in a clearer picture.
Spygate targeting, which evolved into Russiagate targeting, which evolved into Mueller targeting, which evolved into Jack Smith targeting, is one continuum purposefully scattered into separate isolation silos to hide the core issue, the U.S. government was/is using NSA captured electronic metadata to conduct domestic political spy operations.
Shortly after the video was released, the ODNI released the transcript. Ultimately one of the big questions surrounding Mrs. Gabbard in the role of Director of National Intelligence, is motive. Is she genuinely willing to confront the unconstitutional construct of the intelligence branch?
We can never truly understand what lies in the heart; intent is a very challenging aspect to discern, because the best intentions of people can often be impacted by the severity of the opposition they face. However, we can gauge the best likelihood for resolve based on the expressed intentions as the battle plans are developed.
[TRANSCRIPT] – “It’s so great to be able to join all of you here today. This is an event I am grateful to have been invited to, year after year, the scheduling just never worked out. So, I’m so glad to be able to come and to be able to greet you in person and just talk a little bit about the grave challenges that we face.
Yes, in the work that we’re doing on a daily basis, it’s very appropriate that I’m following Mike Benz in this, because he’s focused on a lot of the same things that we are focused on investigating and uncovering. But really, the challenges that he is talking about are challenges that every one of us as Americans are facing. And the task is not just for a Mike Benz or for a certain agency to take on.
This is a moment of opportunity in our country where we have to be very clear-eyed about the direct threats and challenges to our fundamental rights and liberties, and freedoms, and what we, the people, are going to do about it.
When we look at how it came to be for me and for others who I serve alongside to be here and to be a part of this change, we go back to the 2024 election and look at how President Trump was reelected and sent back to the White House by a truly unique cross-partisan coalition of Americans who looked beyond labels, and really were attracted to his message of putting the American people first.
It was a resounding statement in his win of that election by a significant and historic margin, and it was a clear rejection of the status quo of the Washington elite, of political leaders who put their own self-interest ahead of the interests of the American people. And it was a demand for a government of, by, and for the people.
So here we are, about seven, eight months into this administration. President Trump has wasted no time in challenging this system, this broken system, in Washington and striking at its very root, delivering results for the American people to make our nation more safe, secure, prosperous, and free.
I have the privilege of serving as America’s eighth Director of National Intelligence. And President Trump has entrusted in me the mission and responsibility of overseeing the intelligence community, this sprawling network of agencies and entities that are charged with the task of providing timely and objective intelligence to the president and policymakers, free from politicization.
Unfortunately, in my short tenure here so far, we have already seen too many examples of politicization and weaponization of intelligence throughout our country’s history.
We look at where we are now over the last several weeks, we’ve declassified and released documents that exposed how President Obama and leaders in the intelligence community knowingly manufactured a false intelligence document after the 2016 election was done, after the American people said no, we want Donald Trump to go and be our commander in chief, not Hillary Clinton. And this manufactured document alleged that Russia aspired to help President Trump win the election, with the aim of undermining his presidency and usurping the will and the voices of the American people who sent Trump to the White House.
When you look at some of the very same leaders who led this manufactured intelligence document, like James Clapper, also had a very direct hand in manufacturing intelligence on the weapons of mass destruction, the alleged weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, to support George W. Bush’s regime change war in Iraq.
For me to be here as the eighth Director of National Intelligence and uncover how James Clapper and others like John Brennan manufactured intelligence to try to undermine President Trump’s administration and presidency and the voices of the American people, and then go back to the founding of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence that came about as a result of the terrorist attack on 9/11, and the manufacturing of intelligence to support the regime change war in Iraq that George Bush led, is an interesting bookend where we find ourselves still dealing with these same issues of politicization and weaponization of intelligence.
James Clapper at that time was the director of the agency that is now called the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, or NGA. And he wrote in his book about how Vice President Dick Cheney was pushing for intelligence, pushing for intelligence to support the invasion of Iraq, to support the narrative of Iraq’s alleged WMDs, and to support the narrative of Iraq’s alleged ties to Al-Qaeda, neither of which actually existed.
So in response to this, James Clapper ordered his agency to create images that Colin Powell then went on to use to support their alleged WMDs narrative. And in James Clapper’s words, we were, quote, “so eager to help that we found what wasn’t really there.” End of quote.
We’ve seen other examples—those that we know of. There are many others that I believe we don’t yet know of—how leaders in the intelligence community, in the FBI, knowingly used false information to gain FISA warrants to illegally spy on American citizens. These are just a few of, unfortunately, what is a long list of known examples of politicization and weaponization that all point to the truth that many of us here in this room know, which is that the rot runs deep, and it’s not just in the intelligence community. I’ve seen examples of this across almost every federal agency.
And so it requires us all to confront the uncomfortable truth that we have these conspirators, these traitors to the Constitution, who are working within our government, who dangerously believe that they are not only above the law, but that they are above the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. People who believe that they have the right to undermine the duly elected president of the United States because they disagree with his positions or his policies, and that they know better.
We go back to the first Trump administration and a prominent example of then former Lieutenant Colonel Vindman. And I remember being in Congress as a Democrat at the time, seeing his testimony and the testimony of others, basically saying, well, we have to protect the country from Donald Trump, the person the American people elected to be the president of the United States. Whether we agree or disagree on policy is not the point. If you disagree on policy, go run for president and market your policies to the American people. It undermines our Constitution, our democratic republic, and we have people within our government who are not the President of the United States, who are not elected by the American people, taking it upon themselves to undermine, ultimately, the American people and the Constitution.
These people have gotten away with these kinds of activities for so long, because they’re protected by an entire system that is built to shield their nefarious activities. And they do this with the assistance and the protection of the deep state and the propaganda media. And those of us who have been targeted by this deep state are very familiar with the tactics.
Keep this in mind. This happens frequently in real time, as we gather here today, where someone in the intelligence community leaks classified intelligence to their friends in the propaganda media. Those individuals in the propaganda media eagerly print this classified intelligence from unnamed sources. Then we see other people in the media talk about this classified intelligence. No one’s verified it. No one’s done any kind of vetting, no one has done any basic journalistic work. And then we see politicians repeating and talking about this thing that was leaked to the media. And we’ve seen how this tried-and-true playbook that is used over and over again to either smear their opponents to, in President Trump’s case, to be used as a basis for FBI raids on his home, lawfare, impeachments, endless investigations, and so forth.
So I get asked oftentimes by people who don’t come to events like this, who are just working hard and trying to raise a family and trying to get by, when they say, what is the deep state? People talk about the deep state. What is it? This is what we’re talking about. It’s not some grand conspiracy theory. It is a conspiracy to undermine the Constitution.
But this is the reality that we are operating in, and it’s important for us to talk about it, to be very clear-eyed about it so that we can combat it with the truth. And this is why exposing the truth is so important, to bring about that real transparency and that accountability, ensuring that our Constitution and Bill of Rights—and this is something that I’m focused on in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and pushing throughout the intelligence community—is actually focusing on the Constitution, making it an event when new people are brought in to any of these organizations.
Every one of them has to swear an oath, as many here did if you served in the military, if you’ve served in different positions in government, to support and defend the Constitution, to talk about it, have a discussion. What does this actually mean and how do we apply it in the work that is done every single day? Because it must be our North Star every day. It must be that guiding principle that serves as our foundation and the left and right limits in the decisions that are being made within our work.
Those who serve in government in any position at the very top, or those who may be coming in brand new, our sole focus must be on serving the American people and upholding the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
It’s very, I feel, appropriate that I’m coming and speaking to you after Mike Benz and hearing at least some of the things he talked about at the end, about the various attacks on our fundamental rights, freedoms, and liberties that are occurring not only here in the United States, but how these threats are coming from policies and agreements that are being talked about in multinational organizations and settings. Our founding documents were based on our inalienable rights and freedoms that are granted to us by God and no one else. And it’s up to us to continue to speak that truth and stand up against those who seek to take them away, no matter where they are or who they are.
We have a lot of work to do. We are working hard every day towards this end, when you look at how deeply entrenched the deep state is, those who believe they are more powerful than the Constitution, you can understand the work that we have ahead of us. But I’m grateful to serve in this position, grateful to President Trump for entrusting me with this mission, to truly seek the truth, find the truth, and tell the truth to the American people, so that true accountability and true change, lasting change, can come about.
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. This change will only be possible if every one of us, as Americans, stands together and fights for it. The future of our country as a free nation is truly in our hands, and we cannot be complacent. We cannot fall asleep at the wheel and allow anyone to sneak in the back door and take it from us, literally and figuratively.
So this movement for positive change, institutional and historic change, is about more than one person or one organization. It’s about all of us, and it’s about restoring the promise of America and the vision that our founders had for our country. And as we go back and look at their courage and their strength and the threats that were laid on them as they worked to write these founding documents, I hope that that gives us inspiration and courage and strength to fight the battles that we have before us, because we are the ones that they were referring to when they talked about a government of, by, and for the people. We’re the only ones who can make it happen.
Thank you for standing for freedom and liberty and truth. Aloha.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard delivered a speech at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, D.C. where she gave specific citations for previous weaponization of intelligence.
DNI Gabbard walks through a timeline of intelligence manipulation, and points to the system within Washington DC that supports the manipulation because it bolsters a political agenda. Gabbard notes that exposing the truth is the ultimate countermeasure to reveal the deception and stop the false constructs. WATCH:
Due to the venue and audio, the speech has an echo. However, I would request those who are pondering the intent of Tulsi Gabbard to stay with it and listen carefully to how she outlines the importance of the current objective. The bill of rights must be defended, she says…. and she is deliberate in understanding the big picture implications.

Speaking to reporters in Miami, Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed the shift in drug enforcement that will now use the full weight of the United States military to “wage combat” level measures against Venezuelan drug networks. WATCH:
Moments before the presser, the Pentagon had released video of a speedboat carrying drugs that was engaged and destroyed by the U.S military. 11 persons on the boat were killed and the cargo destroyed. [Video Below]
President Trump has unleased the power of the U.S. military against criminal drug cartels and narcotrafficking gangs. The current focus is in/around the waterways surrounding Venezuela, but the threat is now massive throughout the region.
PRESIDENT TRUMP– “Earlier this morning, on my Orders, U.S. Military Forces conducted a kinetic strike against positively identified Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility. TDA is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, operating under the control of Nicolas Maduro, responsible for mass murder, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and acts of violence and terror across the United States and Western Hemisphere.
The strike occurred while the terrorists were at sea in International waters transporting illegal narcotics, heading to the United States. The strike resulted in 11 terrorists killed in action. No U.S. Forces were harmed in this strike. Please let this serve as notice to anybody even thinking about bringing drugs into the United States of America. BEWARE! Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!!!!!!!!!” [Truth Social Link]

President Trump has scheduled a 2:00pm ET announcement from the White House. The president has not been seen in several days as he took a Labor Day weekend holiday.
While the topic of the announcement has not been made in advance, the greatest likelihood surrounds the removal of Space Force from Colorado (Peterson Space Force Base) and relocation to Alabama (Huntsville’s Redstone Arsenal – home of Airforce Command). The move away from Colorado is also interesting as the secondary Cyber Command data center is in Colorado (CTH is interested in this data center). The Livestream Links are below:

New York Representative Jerry “The Penguin” Nadler has announced he is not going to seek reelection in 2026.
78-year-old Nadler was going to face a significant primary threat from the far-left.
NEW YORK – “Watching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect that,” Mr. Nadler said, adding that a younger successor “can maybe do better, can maybe help us more.”
Rep. Jerry Nadler, was the former chair of the House Judiciary Committee who joined forces with Adam Schiff and spearheaded President Donald Trump’s impeachment effort.
Nadler and Schiff formed a joint House impeachment committee and then hired Mary McCord as the lead staff for the effort.
Mary McCord previously worked as DOJ-National Security Division head with Michael Atkinson as her office lawyer.
When McCord quit the DOJ and went to work for Schiff and Nadler, Atkinson was ¹moved to Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG).
As the ICIG, Michael Atkinson then changed the rules for whistleblowers within the CIA permitting a false assertion by Eric Ciaramella, who subsequently told a fictional story presented by Alexander Vindman. The fake “Ukraine Impeachment” effort stemmed from this political scheme.
Vindman lied, Eric Ciaramella advanced the lie to ICIG Michael Atkinson who then spun the ²false allegation back to his colleague Mary McCord. That’s the origin of the fraud behind the first impeachment effort.
¹♦ Who told President Trump to appoint Michael Atkinson as ICIG?
The appointment of Michael Atkinson was not a mistake. The impeachment was pre-planned.
Find the person who put his name in front of President Trump, and you find one of the internal operatives within the Trump administration specifically working to hurt President Trump in his first term. Is that person around in term #2?
²♦ Where is Michael Atkinson’s transcript?
ICIG Michael Atkinson testified to the joint House subcommittee on impeachment about why he changed the rules for CIA whistleblowers. Atkinson testified about his activity to the Schiff/Nadler committee, IN FRONT OF MARY McCORD.
Adam Schiff promptly classified and sealed the Atkinson deposition transcript in an attempt to forever bury it. The equity stakeholders are: (1) the House of Representatives, and (2) the CIA.
NEEDED ACTION – House Speaker Mike Johnson should be able to find that Atkinson transcript, declassify and make it public. However, the CIA is likely also the equity stakeholder. So, give it to Director John Ratcliffe who then declassifies it and gives it to DNI Tulsi Gabbard for release.
The gaslighting and games of pretending in/around Washington DC never changes. Before there was the obvious cognitive decline of Joe Biden, there was the obvious cognitive incapacity of Robert Mueller. However, both acuity compromises were ignored because the agenda the figureheads represented was more important than their obvious compromise.
We talked about it throughout the special counsel timeframe that held his name.
Robert Mueller was a figurehead with no structural direction or control over the Trump-Russia special counsel probe. Factually, Andrew Weissmann was in control over the special counsel investigation, albeit with daily support from the entire Lawfare network.
[SIDEBAR: I have always wondered why no journalist has ever asked President Trump about the meeting with Robert Mueller, organized by Rod Rosenstein, on the day before the special counsel was appointed. How did Trump feel about Rosenstein when he realized the meeting with Mueller was a ¹set up? (or did he realize it?).]
According to Sharyl Attkisson’s lawsuit (full pdf) Rod Rosenstein, as the U.S. Attorney for Maryland, was in charge of the Obama 2011 and 2012 operation to monitor journalists specific to Ms. Attkisson’s reporting on Fast-n-Furious and Benghazi. Robert Mueller was FBI Director at the time. This is the timeline when Obama began using the NSA database to conduct domestic political surveillance.
The family of Robert Mueller is now saying the corrupt FBI Director turned Special Counsel has Parkinson’s disease and cannot be of any assistance to congress or anyone else. [SEE HERE]
NEW YORK TIMES – Robert S. Mueller III, the former special counsel who investigated ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russia, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago, his family said in a statement on Sunday.
In recent months, Mr. Mueller, a former F.B.I. director, has had difficulty speaking and experienced mobility issues, people familiar with his condition said. As a result, a congressional committee has withdrawn a request for Mr. Mueller to give testimony this week in its inquiry into the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigations. (more)
¹BACKGROUND – Through a FOIA request Judicial Watch received Rod Rosenstein’s email communication around the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller [See Here].
The content of the emails between Rosenstein and Mueller further confirms when Rosenstein took Mueller to the White House on May 16th, 2017, the purpose was for Mueller to preview his target, President Trump.
At the time of the FOIA discovery many focused on the email from May 12, 2017, where Rosenstein said to Mueller, “I assume you realize”… “The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions”; however, that conversation was widely misinterpreted.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein took Robert Mueller to visit Attorney General Jeff Sessions on May 13th, 2017. The specifics of the “boss” not knowing concerned keeping prior private conversations between Rosenstein and Mueller out of the discussion with Sessions.
When we inserted the Rosenstein email release into our CTH timeline the picture was clear.
Perhaps the most important aspect was how DAG Rosenstein took Robert Mueller to the White House on May 16, 2017, to interview President Trump. The decision to appoint Mueller as special counsel was pre-determined prior to the White House visit:
♦James Comey was fired at approximately 5:00pm EST on Tuesday May 9th, 2017. The next morning, less than 15 hours after Comey was fired, Rosenstein contacted Robert Mueller about the special counsel appointment.
During the congressional testimony of Robert Mueller, Representative Andy Biggs noted evidence of a phone call between Mueller and Rod Rosenstein on Wednesday May 10th, 2017, at 7:45am. Listen carefully at the 2:26 point of the video.
From the FOIA release we could see that following the 7:45am phone call Rod Rosenstein received contact info from Mueller’s asst (8:09am), and Rosenstein emailed his assistant at 8:13am with instructions to contact Mueller’s asst and set up a meeting for Friday May 12th:
Marcia Murphy from the Office of the DAG, then followed through and set up a meeting for 8:00am, Friday May 12th at Main Justice, between Rosenstein and Mueller:
Following that May 12th 8:00am meeting with Mueller, Rod Rosenstein then met with Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe – According to McCabe:
… “[Rosenstein] asked for my thoughts about whether we needed a special counsel to oversee the Russia case. I said I thought it would help the investigation’s credibility. Later that day, I went to see Rosenstein again. This is the gist of what I said: I feel strongly that the investigation would be best served by having a special counsel.” (link)
Later that night (May 12th), at 9:15pm Rosenstein then emails Robert Mueller: “I assume you realize the boss and his staff do not know about our discussions.”
That email is directly related to a meeting scheduled on Saturday May 13th between Rosenstein, Mueller and Jeff Sessions, which is confirmed in the Andy Biggs questioning.
The Mueller Timeline:
♦Sunday May 14th – James Comey transmitted copies of Memos 2, 4, and 6, and a partially redacted copy of Memo 7 to Patrick Fitzgerald, who was one of Comey’s personal attorneys. Fitzgerald received the email and PDF attachment from Comey at 2:27 p.m. on May 14, 2017, per the IG report.
♦Monday May 15th, McCabe states he and Rosenstein conferred again about the Special Counsel approach. McCabe: “I brought the matter up with him again after the weekend.”
On this same day was when James Rybicki called SSA Whistleblower to notify him of Comey’s memos. The memos were “stored” in a “reception area” and in locked drawers in James Rybicki’s office.
♦Tuesday May 16th – Per the IG report: “On the morning of May 16, Comey took digital photographs of both pages of Memo 4 with his personal cell phone. Comey then sent both photographs, via text message, to his special government employee, Daniel Richman. Richman’a job was to use the memo to leak to media.
Back in Main Justiceat 12:30pm Rod Rosenstein, Andrew McCabe, Jim Crowell and Tashina Guahar are all part of this meeting. I should note that alternate documentary evidence, gathered over the years, supports the content of this McCabe memo. Including texts between Lisa Page and Peter Strzok:
[Sidebar: pay attention to the redactions; they were placed by DOJ officials in an effort to protect Rod Rosenstein for his duplicity in: (A) running the Mueller sting operation at the white house on the same day; (B) the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel, which was pre-determined before the Oval Office meeting.]
While McCabe was writing this afternoon memo, still May 16th, Rod Rosenstein took Robert Mueller to the White House for a meeting in the oval office with President Trump and VP Mike Pence.
After six days of phone calls, emails and in person meetings, this visit to the White House was clearly Rod Rosenstein introducing Robert Mueller to the target of the investigation. Rosenstein already knew he was going to appoint Mueller; and Mueller, along with the small group in the FBI, already knew Mueller was going to be appointed.
Later that night (May 16th), following the Mueller visit, there was a debriefing session back at Main Justice. This evening meeting appears to be Lisa Page, Rod Rosenstein and Andrew McCabe; along with Tashina Gauhar again taking notes.
♦ Wednesday May 17th, 2017: Rod Rosenstein and Andrew McCabe go to brief the congressional “Gang-of-Eight”: Paul Ryan, Nancy Pelosi, Devin Nunes, Adam Schiff, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, Richard Burr and Mark Warner.
… […] “On the afternoon of May 17, Rosenstein and I sat at the end of a long conference table in a secure room in the basement of the Capitol. We were there to brief the so-called Gang of Eight—the majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate and the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees. Rosenstein had, I knew, made a decision to appoint a special counsel in the Russia case.”
[…] “After reminding the committee of how the investigation began, I told them of additional steps we had taken. Then Rod took over and announced that he had appointed a special counsel to pursue the Russia investigation, and that the special counsel was Robert Mueller.” (link)
Immediately following this May 17, 2017, Go8 briefing, Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein notified the public of the special counsel appointment.
According to President Trump’s Attorney John Dowd, the White House was stunned by the decision. [Link] Coincidentally, AG Jeff Sessions was in the oval office for unrelated business when White House counsel Don McGahn came in and informed the group.
Jeff Sessions immediately offered his resignation, and Sessions’ chief-of-staff Jody Hunt went back to the Main Justice office to ask Rosenstein what the hell was going on.
RUSSIAGATE – THEY HAD NOTHING – This investigative ‘small group’ were the people inside Main Justice (DOJ) and FBI headquarters who redacted the Lisa Page and Peter Strzok text messages; removed messages and communication antithetical to their goals; kept key documents and information away from congress; stalled any effort to expose the unlawful aspects of “SpyGate’ and the fraudulent foundation behind the Carter Page FISA application; and undermined any adverse discoveries in the leak investigations (ex. James Wolfe).
The DOJ/FBI investigative small group didn’t change when Mueller arrived, they just reorganized the focus of their effort based on lawfare leadership from Andrew Weissmann and new objectives. Those same people who created the Trump-Russia collusion/conspiracy case of 2016, evolved into creating the Trump obstructing justice case of 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Everything Robert Mueller and Rod Rosenstein were doing in late 2017 and throughout 2018 was intended to drag-out the Russia conspiracy narrative as long as possible. There was really no Trump-Russia investigation taking place.
It was always the “obstruction” investigation that could lead to the desired result by Mueller’s team of taking down President Trump through evidence that would help Pelosi and Nadler achieve impeachment. The “obstruction case” was the entirety of the case they were trying to make from May 2017 through to March 2019.
SPYGATE – Just as the New York Times reported, in its final days in office, the Obama Administration expanded the power of the National Security Agency (NSA) to share globally intercepted personal communication with the government’s 16 other intelligence agencies before applying any privacy protections.
The new rules were issued under section 2.3 of Executive Order #12333 after approval by two Obama Administration officials: Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Director of National Intelligence Director, James Clapper.
The new rules, which were issued in an unclassified document titled: “Procedures for the Availability or Dissemination of Raw Signals Intelligence Information by the National Security Agency (NSA),” significantly relaxed longstanding limits on what the NSA may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations.
These operations remain as largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. Surveillances include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls, and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches.
The changes initiated by the Obama Administration in its waning days empowered far more government agents and officials to search through raw intelligence data. As a direct consequence of the change in policy, that the prospect of intel leaks grew exponentially.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch signed the new rules permitting the NSA to disseminate raw signals intelligence information on January 3, 2017 after Director of National Intelligence James Clapper signed them on December 15, 2016.
The targeting of Donald Trump required surveillance and spying.
The surveillance of Donald Trump never stopped.
The aspect that changed was the team extracting the information. Hence, (FBI) Raw NSA extraction => (FBI) Crossfire Hurricane => (FBI) Robert Mueller => (FBI) Impeachment => (FBI) Mar-a-Lago Raid => (FBI) Jack Smith.
