Sunday Talks – Rep Jim Himes Attempts to Retain Disproven Trump-Russia Talking Points

Posted originally on CTH on July 20, 2025 | Sundance

Apparently, the best the Democrats could come up with to defend themselves against the truth provided by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, was to put Connecticut Representative Jim Himes on TV to push a series of lies that leftists are sworn to believe.

Four lies immediately stand out below. (1) Marco Rubio was not chair on the SSCI investigation of Trump-Russia, Richard Burr was. (2) John Durham was not appointed by Donald Trump. He was appointed by Bill Barr. (3) There is no evidence that “Russia hacked” the DNC servers. Even the FBI said there was no evidence. (4) Russians did not “buy reams of Facebook ads”, there was an indication that someone, who was likely Russian, spent $4,500 dollars on one ad promoting Jill Stein.

[Transcript] – MARGARET BRENNAN: Welcome back to FACE THE NATION. We are continuing our conversation now with Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes, who is the ranking member on the Intelligence Committee.

Congressman, I want to pick up on that topic.

Just a statement of fact here. A bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee investigation found that the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election was correct, they deemed it to be so on a bipartisan basis. I’m saying that because today, and yesterday, the director of the intelligence community, Tulsi Gabbard, has said that she is referring for prosecution former American officials she accused of treasonist conspiracy, a year’s long coo against President Trump because they assessed Russia had tried to influence the election. This is weeks after the CIA director issued a report critiquing the tradecraft that went into that 2016 assessment.

Is there any legal basis for any kind of prosecution here?

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES (D-CT): None. Absolutely none, Margaret. What you saw from the director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was not just a lie, but a very dangerous lie. Because when you start throwing around language like sedition and treason, somebody’s going to get hurt.

Now, you pointed out that the Senate committee, then led by Marco Rubio, a Republican and now secretary of state, found unanimously that Russia medaled in the election to try to assist Donald Trump. John Durham, special council appointed by Donald Trump, investigated this, fund that the Senate report was correct.

Now, what Tulsi is doing, it’s a little slight of hand but it’s worth focusing on. She is saying that the Intelligence Committee early on said that the Russians could not use cyber tools to mess with the voting infrastructure, the machines that tally our votes. That was true then and it is true now. Though the Russians tried to break into a couple of states’, you know, election technical infrastructure, they didn’t do it. But it is well known and well established that the Russians hacked into the DNC and undertook any number of influence operations, including buying reams of Facebook ads, to discredit Hillary Clinton. That is not in contention, right?

And what is horrifying about this whole lie out of Gabbard is, number one, it puts people at risk. And right now, you know, the mouth breathers on MAGA online are just going out of their minds based on a lie. And, number two, the intelligence community is full of very, very good people who do their jobs every single day and now they’re watching their leader do something that each and every one of them knows is dishonest and it is a really, really bad thing for the safety and security of the American people when that dynamic is – is – is out there.

MARGARET BRENNAN: That Senate report is online. The findings are – are there. But I understand your distinction there. It’s an important one in influence verses physical hacking.

You are –

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: But, by the way, Margaret, if I may.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: If I may. You asked about the referral.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: Here’s the test. This is Epstein all over again. Criminal referrals. We’re going to prosecute Barack Obama. You know, treasonist and seditious. Here’s the thing. And I hope that four, five, six weeks from now. Don’t take it from this Democrat. Four or five, six weeks from now, let’s see if this administration, Tulsi Gabbard accusing a former president of treason, let’s see if they bring charges. They won’t. They won’t, because there’s not a judge in the land, not a single judge, who will treat this with anything other than laughter that will be heard from the Atlantic to the Pacific in this country.

So, the test of this is, four, five, six weeks from now, is the DOJ bringing charges.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: And the answer to that is no. And now we’re going to be in Epstein world. We’re like, wait a minute, treasonist conspiracy by a former president. Why isn’t the Department of Justice bringing charges? And the answer to that question is that it is a lie.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Understood.

On the other topic I want to ask you about, as a Democrat, “The New York Times,” the DNC – is reporting the DNC’s examination of what went wrong in the last election is going to steer clear the decisions made by the Biden turned Harris campaign.

You were very direct early on in calling for then President Biden to drop out of this race. You don’t parse your words normally. Do you actually think it is possible for your party to self-diagnose problems without looking at the presidential race itself in terms of the candidates?

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: Look, we – we – we need to acknowledge, and every – and all of America saw it on the night of the disastrous debate in the July before the election, that Joe Biden was not going to win the election. That was not just evident in the debate, it was evident in the polling that his people were keeping from him. OK, so that is a fact.

Now, Democrats are a big tent party. We go from Joe Manchin, who’s practically a Republican, to AOC, we is a Democratic socialist. So, we always have a struggle in coming up with sort of one set of policies, one set of messaging. And it’s particularly hard to do when we don’t have a presidential candidate. You know, a presidential candidate, of course, attracts the attention, is sort of the one person who must run nationwide and speak for the party as a whole. Right now we’re having a lot of conversations with a lot of different views. And I understand that’s enormously frustrating to Democrats who are so upset over the result of the election.

But, you know, other than fight back with the tools that we have right now, we’ve got to be introspective about what we have done wrong that resulted in a dramatic win by Donald Trump in 2020.*

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: There’s an awful lot of rage in the Democratic Party. And my message to my Democratic friends is, fine, I get the rage, believe me.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: I was in the chamber on January 6, 2021, and worried for my own life. But the thing to do right now is to be introspective and ask yourself –

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM HIMES: What can we do better to appeal to more people, including those people that we have lost time and time again in elections?

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yes.

Fifteen months out from the mid-term races.

Congressman Jim Himes, thank you.

We’ll be right back.

Counter Attack – New Intelligence Authorization Act Seeks to Curb Power of DNI

The response from Chairman Tom Cotton and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to the action of DNI Tulsi Gabbard was predictable.

The SSCI has now framed the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 [LINK] to modify the “responsibilities and authorities of the Director of National Intelligence.” [Section 402]

[SOURCE – Sec 402 LINK]

We knew this was coming.  The Intelligence Community does not like rogue actors amid their ranks, especially if those people have cross-silo access.  The silo system is designed to protect the Deep State.  Any entity who can cross reference the inserted information becomes a risk to the enterprise.

Senator Cotton cannot directly oppose Tulsi Gabbard without exposing himself.  Thus someone, not the SSCI, writes the legislative changes to the Intelligence Community rules and procedures and Tom Cotton simply advances them.  That’s the way DC operates.

[TWEET LINK]

Additionally, Chairman Cotton does not want the DNI to investigate or generate its own intelligence.  Cotton demands the ODNI just accept and regurgitate the intelligence Tulsi Gabbard would be given by the other agencies; no independent review of analysis permitted.  All of these actions push the Intelligence Community power center back into the CIA and away from the prying eyes of the DNI.  That’s the SSCI motive.

WASHINGTON DC – A top Republican senator is proposing a sweeping overhaul of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, slashing the workforce of an organization that has expanded since it was created in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Under a bill by Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, the chair of the Intelligence Committee, the ODNI’s staff of about 1,600 would be capped at 650, according to a senior Senate aide familiar with the proposed legislation.

ODNI’s workforce was about 2,000 in January, but National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has already overseen a reduction of about 20% as part of the Trump administration’s drive to shrink the federal workforce. The reduction in the staff Gabbard oversees could weaken her role in the intelligence bureaucracy.

[…] The attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, exposed a failure to share information across spy agencies with catastrophic results. As a result, Congress established the ODNI to oversee all of the country’s 18 intelligence services, including the CIA, and manage bureaucratic turf wars from a complex outside Washington, D.C.

What started as a relatively small office under the national intelligence director in 2005 has expanded over the last 20 years to include in-house analysis teams and centers focused on counterterrorism and counterintelligence. Cotton has described the ODNI as a bloated bureaucracy that should return to its original mission of coordinating the work of other spy agencies instead of producing its own reports and duplicating other agencies’ efforts.

“Congress in no way wanted yet another unruly bureaucracy layered on top of an already bureaucratic intelligence community,” Cotton said at Gabbard’s confirmation hearing in late January. “Unfortunately, 20 years later, that’s exactly what the ODNI has become.”

Gabbard herself expressed support for downsizing the ODNI’s workforce at the hearing, saying she would work with Cotton and other lawmakers to eliminate “redundancies and bloating.” (read more)

In the lead up to the election I outlined what the DNI could do with untapped power already given to the office.  DNI Tulsi Gabbard has been following a path close to that outline.  Now, we see Washington DC responding to that affirmed power structure and actively working to neuter the DNI.  A very predictable outcome.

The only intelligence silo more corrupt than the CIA is the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that oversees it.

Do Not Miss – Maria Bartiromo Interviews DNI Tulsi Gabbard

Posted originally on CTH on July 20, 2025 | Sundance

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard appears on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo to walk through the documents that she has retrieved and made public. {GO DEEP}

DNI Tulsi Gabbard outlines how the documents released show how the Obama administration actively engaged the Intelligence Community to fabricate a false and malicious conspiracy against the incoming Trump administration.

I like how within the interview Director Gabbard emphasizes within her role she is able to reach into each of the eighteen intelligence agencies and extract documents that pertain to singular issues, in this case the role of Russia in the 2016 election.  This cross-silo investigative ability is why the DNI office is so important to revealing information from within individual silos. Well done Tulsi Gabbard. PERFECT!

Here’s the interview that must not be missed.  WATCH:

.

Within the interview, Tulsi Gabbard emphasizes how important it is for the people who engaged in a treasonous conspiracy to be held accountable.  Gabbard notes there are now whistleblowers from within the IC agencies who have come forward to discuss how the intelligence apparatus was intentionally weaponized.

In her opinion as expressed, there is enough direct evidence now available to the Dept of Justice to begin criminal indictments against all of the participants.  DNI Gabbard is going to face the full fury of the assembled intelligence state.

Tulsi Gabbard Expands Power of DNI Office – Now Comes the Counter Attack, Likely from Senator Tom Cotton

Posted originally on CTH on July 20, 2025 | Sundance

Many people are questioning why Tulsi Gabbard is able to discover and expose activity by the Obama administration and the Intelligence Community, yet prior office holders did not.

Last year, when asked for approaches that could assist a Trump Term-2, I outlined the possibilities for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).  What we are seeing today is running in direct parallel to that original outline.

As our conversation expands, and we await the counter attack against her, perhaps it is worth a revisit.  I will explain the predictable counter attack at the end.

August, 2024 – The ODNI was created as an outcome of the 9-11 Commission recommendations.  In the era shortly after 9/11, the DC national security apparatus was constructed to preserve continuity of government and simultaneously view all Americans as potential threats.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) were created specifically for this purpose.

Washington DC created the modern national security apparatus immediately and hurriedly after 9/11/01.  DHS came along in 2002, and within the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 the ODNI was formed.

When Barack Obama and Eric Holder arrived a few years later, those newly formed institutions were viewed as opportunities to create a very specific national security apparatus that would focus almost exclusively against their political opposition.

Here is the weird part.  The ODNI was formed in 2004, with the intent for the office to be the pivot point of a national security radar.   The DNI was intended to provide information to domestic agencies about foreign terror networks that would prevent something like 9-11 from happening again.  However, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has never, not for one day, operated on this intent.   This is why they are such a critical position from my perspective.

The office was new, not established yet as a functioning silo, when Barack Obama and Eric Holder arrived in 2009.  They quickly dispatched an idiot, James Clapper, into the operation so they could weaponize around the offices’ fulcrum point.

Prior to the DNI office existing, the CIA radar would sweep externally and then report to the Office of the President. The DNI was intended to take external radar sweep (CIA) and make it a full 360° circle, adding a sweep inside the USA that would be handled by the Dept of Homeland Security.

The DHS sweep and the CIA sweep would then be combined into a central collection hub called the ODNI.  Everyone with responsibility for “national security” could access the ODNI material. Essentially and presumably, post 9-11 nothing like jihadists practicing to fly airplanes would be missed again; at least that was the intent.

The weird part is that because the DNI was immediately weaponized, the office has never functioned to the purpose of its intent.

No one truly knows what the office possibilities consist of, because no one has ever seen anyone try to functionally control the hub.  If you think I’m joking about the intent of Obama and John Brennan using the DNI, watch this video. This is before Brennan became CIA Director; this is when Brennan was helping Barack Obama put the pillars into place.

.

For the intents of this outline, the takeaway is how the DNI office has never been used for good.  In a strategic way, that can be used to our advantage if you are talking about leveraging silos against each other.

Example:  The DNI can assemble material from any silo.  Meaning the DNI can reach into any IC silo and extract anything they want.  Under the original authorities given to the DNI, this authority exists.  So, let’s spread the wings on this office and do exactly what it is permitted to do, only this time extract for the purpose of showing the President what is happening in every silo.

In essence, the DNI *CAN BE* deployed like a super strong cross-silo inspector general’s office.  Force the other IC silos to comply with the demands of the DNI.  This has never been done. But the DNI has this unique power.

The DNI can make the FBI, DOJ, DOJ-NSD, DoD, DoS and CIA provide anything and everything they demand.  Instead of the other silos using blocks and threats against the office of the President, use the authority of the DNI to get them without confrontation.   Then use the DNI to declassify the documents (if requested by POTUS), instead of the originating silo.

Can you see how the DNI office can be repurposed to be a seriously strong weapon in the toolbox of the President, against the schemes of those inside the various IC silos?  The DNI becomes much more important than the CIA Director, NSA Director, FBI Director, Attorney General, etc, because the DNI can just show up and say, “give me this.”  That’s the whole functional purpose of the DNI office that has never been exerted; let’s flippin’ use it.

Let’s use the office of the DNI as the central information hub that takes information from inside the corrupt silos, then provides that information to the President who puts sunlight upon it.  Each corrupt silo penetrated with disinfectant.  This could begin a process to pull down the shadow operations and let the American public see what has been happening inside our IC apparatus.

To accomplish this approach, the National Security Advisor to the President (NSA), would be the person who tells the DNI exactly what they are looking for.

How does the NSA know what to look for?  Because the National Security Advisor is the head of the National Security Council (NSC).

Let the NSC monitor the silos with specific intent, then provide Trump’s NatSec Advisor, [now Rubio], with details on what appears to be happening and where.   With the approval of the President, the NSA then turns to the DNI and says, “POTUS wants this, go get this.”

Raw, unfiltered, unredacted information.   The silo administrators end up in a fight with the ODNI, not the office of President Trump.  President Trump then uses the power of his office to support the demands of the DNI.

Under this approach the DNI has a lot more power; yet funnily, it’s power they already have – yet have never utilized.

Unfortunately, the DNI needs to be confirmed by the Senate Intelligence Committee – so, this factors into who could achieve the position.  [NOTE: Ric Grenell is too valuable in another position.]  John Ratcliffe might be a possibility, but I’m not sure he would be strong enough to go up against the system he knows well (and on a character issue he’s bff’s with Trey Gowdy).

Preferably, we really want an outsider in this role; yet any true outsider is going to face massive scrutiny getting through the nomination filter. [Prior Outline END]

ADD: That’s exactly what happened with Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination.

Why didn’t John Ratcliffe discover this information when he was DNI?

The occam’s razor answer is, he wasn’t looking.

Ratcliffe is part of the IC apparatus that structurally retains the guardrails allowing the IC to exist as the strongest, non statutory, part of our government. Ratcliffe, like Devin Nunes, believes in the system. They see the world threat through the prism of the IC system that tells them where, when and why to be fearful.

John Ratcliffe also worked for John Ashcroft, the main author of the Patriot Act.

They are not bad men, they just believe the worldview presented, because it has always been thus.

But now is not then. Our ‘this’ is no longer ‘thus’. Now we have President Trump, the embodiment of kryptonite to the superstate.

Now we enter the era when great boldness is needed. Brutal honesty is required. A combination of humility and arrogance is needed. Totally different skillsets.

Ratcliffe believes in the system, but he is simultaneously open to allowing Tulsi to do her thing and show him the dangers he doesn’t see.

EXAMPLE: Tulsi took the National Intelligence Council (NIC) out of the CIA. Tulsi could not do that without Ratcliffe’s agreement.

Now, Ratcliffe is watching Gabbard work, seeing what it brings to the surface, seeing a DNI -funnily an office he held- through an entirely new prism. Ratcliffe operated the DNI in the same way that all prior DNI’s operated it. Tulsi is operating the DNI in a completely different way.

I have written about the possibilities of the DNI office, the unknown power when the office was created. Now I am watching Tulsi Gabbard test my theories in real time, and it is beyond cool.

Again, this response may not make sense to most. You really have to spend too much time understanding the IC system and the silos they operate to ‘get it.’

Ratcliffe did what he thought was possible within the confines of the DNI position.  Tulsi is changing the definition of the DNI position – expanding the wings of power it holds, and doing what is possible.

This expanded power, now clearly visible, was legislatively authorized in the Patriot Act and subsequent creation of the DNI. Gabbard’s use of it is why the SSCI now wants to change the legislation that created the DNI.

Keep watching, and be very cautious of Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Tom Cotton.

It’s going to be Tulsi Gabbard vs Tom Cotton! [Patriots vs Sea Island] Remember this as we go forward. SSCI Chairman Cotton is assembling his weapons right now; he has no choice – Cotton accepted the role. Tom Cotton is now the “hand” of the Intelligence Community.

You have to understand how the DC system operates in collaboration with the Intelligence Community apparatus. Almost no one does. The IC (domestic and foreign) cannot allow DNI Gabbard to follow a non traditional format. The SSCI is their weapon, the tool they use to retain all activity within guardrails the IC have constructed.

As you might remember from the outline last year, again cited above, the National Security Advisor plays a key role in coordination with the Director of National Intelligence.  The NatSec Advisor is now Marco Rubio.

Does this mean we need to trust Marco Rubio?

I don’t ‘trust’ anyone except God and mom, and even she can be sketchy at times. Instead, I review who people are by the actions they take.

Do I trust a man in his 30s elected to the Senate. No.

Do I trust a man in his 40s who became the fulcrum point for a gang of eight amnesty plan. No.

Do I trust a 50 year old man who rose all the way to the SSCI Chair, then left elected office, freed himself from the world of controlling donors, became Secretary of State at the most consequential time in modern political history, and immediately told the world that, “Ukraine was a proxy war for the USA against Russia”?

Again, no.

However, dismantling USAID, working directly against the interests of the dark world of the Intelligence Community (CIA), and supporting President Trump by stating bold truths that burn all the vessels that could return him to the IC island, point in one direction only.

He knows the proverbial “them.” After leaving elected office, he’s free of them…. AND more importantly, he’s taking action to show it.

That’s beyond historic, and a very good thing to see.

Do I trust Marco Rubio? No….

I trust God and Mom.

….That said, I would be the first to buy him a beer and thank him for what he is now doing. The rest comes in time.
