The problem discussed here is real. I’m not sure that its possible for a moderate Muslim to exist however. The problem the Muslim’s have is the Qur’an itself for their founder Mohammad stated that the Qur’an is literally the word of Allah and it is not possible to be changed. Since Mohammad was a Warlord and the initial thrust which conquered Arabia was by war not peaceful conversion the cult of Islam called a religion is fundamentally flawed. There are stuck in the 7th century and the rest of the world has moved on.
It doesn’t so much matter what the Ulma believe as is does for the Islamic scholars believe for they are the ones preaching Jihad based on their Qur’an. Only they can solve their problem. But we can not tolerate what they do in our countries meaning western civilization. This conflict is not new it has been going on for 1400 years and so far the Jihadists’ have been wining as there are now more Muslims than Christians. Therefore there is no reason for them to change, time is on there side.

Most are familiar with the Islamic schism between the majority Sunnis and the minority Shiites. It dates back to the very earliest days of Islam when the two groups disagreed over who should be the successor to Mohammad.
There is a new schism in Islam these days and it is between a moderate interpretation of Islam and fundamentalism. We have all seen what fundamentalism produces.
The past year had dramatic and tragic slaughters by the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Syrian-Iraqi area they control, the murder of more than 140 school children in Pakistan by the Taliban, and the kidnapping of 276 girls by Boko Haram in Nigeria. These acts represent a strict interpretation of Shia law based on the Koran.
