The goal in the Mideast (for various and diverse reasons) is to create a modern Caliphate. The West (Obama and the EU) think that a united Islamic State will stop the Jihad and the Muslims think that a united Islamic State will allow them to attack the West (America and the EU) and defeat them (us) since we are weakened politically and have fools for leaders.

Also if they do move toward the Caliphate form of governance that give the Turkish Sunni the counter to the Shea of Iran.
Is Sharia Law Compatible with Democracy?
Sharia Law is to the Muslims what the US Constitution is to the American Way of life. Since both are all encompassing and the US Constitution is the overriding law of the land Sharia law can not be allowed as it in effect would create a separate sovereign state to exist and there can only be one sovereign; therefore those that want to follow that beliefs structure should go to a country that allows that.

If they came to England (USA) knowing what England (USA) was and what England (USA) was offended them then why to they come? The only possible answer was that they wanted to change England (USA) to their way of life and beliefs. No other possible answer works so we can either throw them out or convert to Islam either one is civil war at some point.
