I think it started long before Obama.

It strikes me that when the Cold War went away and the West was luxuriating in the so-called “Peace Initiative”, scrapping hardware left, right and centre, closing down research programs and putting all the money into transgendered black lesbian dwarf outreach centres, we took our eye off the ball.

    Look at this thing:

Have we got anything that flies like that?

On this side of the Pond it’s worse if anything. The buffoon Cameron scrapped our Nimrod ASW fleet, the Russian subs took to taking pleasure cruises in our waters, and now we’ve had to rent Boeings off the US.

Then there were the Harriers, still the only really convincing VTOL jet fighter-bomber ever built – that F35 isn’t even close, and with the front fan and all the associated gearing and claptrap taking up valuable weight and space, never will be.

So what did we do with our Harriers? We fully reconditioned them, fitted the very latest avionics, and then flogged them to the US Marines who think they’re marvellous at scrap metal price, complete with all the spares, jigs, fittings and whatnot.

Then we flogged a load more to the Indians to use on their carriers, when we get our new carrier (we scrapped the old one) we will have to borrow planes from the French – I kid you not!

Oh, and the carriers will be diesel powered, and we haven’t any fleet oilers, nor any ASW vessels, nor any of the other support ships.

Now it seems like Cameron and Obama want to wind up Putin who despite his faults is at least on the side of his fellow Russians. I can see that’s going to end well…

    Bloody marvellous, isn’t it?
