Coronavirus Panic

COMMENT: How is this for the Pi Cycle in action: 1968 Hong Kong flu + 51.6 years = 2020 coronavirus.

BGP

REPLY: Yes, 2020 was the target year for the disease cycle to increase. It still points to the peak coming in 2022. The media has whipped this up into a full-blown panic over the novel coronavirus which is reaching a fever pitch in the US. This has resulted in even canceling conventions around the USA. Despite repeated pleas from health officials not to buy face masks which will not work, Americans can’t stop snatching up masks and respirators. The mask boom reminds me of the toilet paper panic of 1979. Sellers have jacked up prices and exploited the demand, just as gasoline stations raised prices during hurricanes in Florida and airlines raised prices on tickets to get out. Around where I live, they HATE CNN and see it as really fake news, not because of politics, but they stage dramatic scenes during storms to scare the hell out of people.

I can confirm from independent sources that a team of 25 international and Chinese experts traveled to several different provinces within China, which included a trip to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. I can confirm from independent sources that the team’s findings were that the epidemic had actually peaked between the 23rd of January and the 2nd of February. Since that date, it has been actually declining. The team also estimates that the measures taken in China have averted a significant number of cases but at a tremendous cost. China’s PMI has collapsed from the 50 level t0 about 35 — a 70% decline.

Reliable sources outside of China confirm that there have been over 83,000 cases of the COVID-19 disease that has now been confirmed in more than 50 countries. Of that, about 36,000 of those people have recovered. However, there remains fast-growing outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran. There are clear indications that the media has whipped this up into a panic while officials have warned that it does have the potential to spread widely in countries with weaker public health systems, specifically in Africa and Latin America.

Gordon Chang: Coronavirus in China, Its Economic Impact & Chinese Influence Operations

We just concluded the live stream of this episode earlier today, at 2pm on Feb. 19. Here is the full episode.*** What does the coronavirus outbreak reveal about the priorities of the Chinese communist regime? How are US companies in China being impacted? And how does all this intersect with the Chinese regime’s extensive influence operations in the US? This is American Thought Leaders 🇺🇸, and I’m Jan Jekielek. In this episode, we’ll sit down with political commentator and China analyst Gordon Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China.

Sunday Talks: Marco Rubio Discusses The Danger of China Against Backdrop of Coronavirus…

CTH is more confident than ever about POTUS having a comprehensive understanding of the bigger picture around COVID-19 and China’s Coronavirus outbreak.  In this interview Senator Marco Rubio discusses the risks that China now represents on a myriad of levels.

The Coronavirus issue hits on three main points of policy outlined by President Trump since his initial announcement of candidacy in 2015:  (1) The need for secure borders and strong immigration controls. (2) The need to stop reliance on Chinese manufacturing; and (3) The need for the U.S. to have independent control over key sectors of manufacturing; including healthcare products and pharmaceuticals, as a matter of national security.

.

Stay big picture. Think about what you know of the aggressive Communist and strategic disposition of China. In addition to the risks within technology development (well discussed), allowing China to have a heavy influence over critical healthcare supply chains is too dangerous.

China In A Bull Shop!

China In A Bull Shop

Friday morning’s DOW futures are heavily in the red, and it does not portend well for the stock market. We’ve seen a 10-year bull market and some were saying the market could never go down, especially with the endless quantitative easing. Some said there was no other viable place for money to go, so the market would go up ad infinitum. A new paradigm of sorts. When you hear talk like that, it usually means the market has topped, but this bull just kept running up further no matter what.

Nothing could touch the Teflon market bubble. It’s a bubble that showcases unreasonable valuations (Tesla, for example), but the bubble kept inflating no matter what. Those that shorted it quickly turned into losers and were forced to cover—thus adding more fuel to a perma-bull market on fire.

It took China’s coronavirus to change all that. Now it’s a matter of just how much damage will be done. I’ve become accustomed to seeing the market always turn bright green after a few red days. Will Friday be the turnaround day? It remains to be seen and my crystal ball broke a long time ago, but it strikes me now that this market may not be just another buying opportunity.

Caution is advised.

Tim Cook Discusses Apple, China, Coronavirus, Supply Chains and Working With President Trump…

Apple CEO Tim Cook discusses the coronavirus impacts on his specific business and his view on the short-term impacts from disruptions in China.  While retail stores and some manufacturing are closed in the short-term, overall Cook sees very little change in the outlook for Apple business once the short-term impacts are removed.

Tim Cook also discusses his relationship with President Trump working together on jobs and education programs. Cook notes President Trump was able to influence Prime Minister Modi of India to allow Apple to enter the Indian market.

.

PS. if you are following the tiered and strategic deployment of COVID-19 hype, you’ll note the next round of heavy artillery (the WHO/CDC have been saving) is the announcement of an official global “pandemic status” being reached.  That will be worth a week of panic media and perhaps another thousand point drop for U.S. stock market.

NEC Director Larry Kudlow Holds Press Conference….

The media is initiating panic about the Coronavirus in 2020 the same way the media attempted to manufacture panic about an upcoming U.S. recession in 2019.

Everything about Coronavirus is hyped with purpose. The CDC official who lit the fuse to create the panic was Dr. Nancy Messonnier who read a script handed to her by resistance operatives inside government.  Dr. Messonnier is Rod Rosenstein’s sister.

National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow appears in the Brady briefing room of the White House to answer media questions about the economic impact of Coronavirus and a declining stock market.  WATCH:

Coronavirus & Speculation

COMMENT: Mr. Armstrong,
I sincerely appreciate your reluctance to comment without direct knowledge and reliable resources. I do think someone seems to be giving this coronavirus more media attention than normal. I am not sure if this is being hyped for vaccines, politics, or what. I trust you will be honest when you have done your own research.

REPLY: I am concerned that reliable sources have reported that there are mutations already. Our model suggests that 2021/2022 should see a peak in such disease. Either this develops slowly and becomes more of a pandemic at that time, or there is a sequel coming down the road. This one spreads like the flu, which is different than SARS, but there are differences between this and the flu. It is just that everyone wants to always paint the end of the world with every event. I prefer real data. I am waiting for the documented numbers outside of China to compare. Then all the claims of China hiding the real numbers will be verified.

The market was due for a correction. Whatever the fundamentals that the media focuses on is really irrelevant. All I can say is the #1 question coming from outside the USA is clearly the Bernie Effect.

I am refraining from commenting because I want to see the number outside of China. I have spoken to some people who are in the field of genetics and they both disagreed that this is somehow genetically manufactured biological weapon. I do know that such weapons have a kill ratio of over 60%. As I said, we signed a contract to hold a WEC in Shanghai. Legally, they could have held us to it at a cost of about $100,000 penalty if we canceled. They waived that so the damage this has caused to the Chinese economy has been very dramatic. We will not even see those numbers until after the 1st quarter. We have people throughout Asia. They are OK but do report that Hong Kong hotels are empty.

I do not like to speculate for I know how this nonsense can turn into a panic that may not be warranted. Influenza spreads around the world in yearly regular outbreaks. This results in about three to five million cases of severe illness and about 290,000 to 650,000 deaths. About 20% of unvaccinated children and 10% of unvaccinated adults are infected each year.

VP Mike Pence Leads a Coronavirus Taskforce Meeting…

The media is attempting to initiate panic about the Coronavirus in 2020 the same way the media attempted to manufacture panic about an upcoming U.S. recession in 2019.

Earlier today Vice President Mike Pence led a meeting of members of the COVID-19 taskforce.   The segment with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, is interesting.

Dr. Fauci discusses the evolution of novel-coronavirus’ from SARS to MERS to the latest version in COVID-19.  Fauci’s remarks begin at 01:06 of the video below:

President Trump Considering “Defense Production Act” to Expand Domestic Production of U.S. Medical Needs…

The media is attempting to initiate panic about the Coronavirus in 2020 the same way the media attempted to manufacture panic about an upcoming U.S. recession in 2019.

First things first.  Earlier today Vice-President Pence announced Dr. Debbie Birx will serve as the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator. [CDC COVID-19 Resource HERE]

Dr./Ambassador Birx is about as bureaucratically deep state as you can get.

Coming from the State Department Dr. Birx has led the U.S. effort to eradicate HIV/AIDS effort and has a strong pedigree as a 30-year global health official, scientist and physician:

[…] Ambassador Birx is a scientist, physician, and mom, with three decades of public health expertise, including virulent diseases, their vaccines, and interagency coordination. She has been utilizing the best science to change the course of the HIV pandemic and bring the pandemic under control, community by community and country by country.

Her focus over three decades has been on HIV/AIDS immunology, vaccine research, and global health. She has developed and patented vaccines, including leading one of the most influential HIV vaccine trials in history. Three different Administrations across both political parties have relied on her knowledge and judgement. (link)

Additionally Vice President Pence added Steven Mnuchin, Secretary of the Treasury; Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States; and Larry Kudlow, Director of the National Economic Council to the Coronavirus Task Force.

Members of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force:

  • Vice President Mike Pence
  • Secretary Alex Azar, Department of Health and Human Services
  • Dr. Ambassador Debbie Birx, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator
  • Robert O’Brien, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs

  • Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States
  • Deputy Secretary Stephen Biegun, Department of State
  • Ken Cuccinelli, Acting Deputy Secretary, Department of Homeland Security

  • Christopher Liddell, Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Coordination
  • Derek Kan, Executive Associate Director, Office of Management and Budget

It was also reported today that President Trump is considering industrial mandates to medical manufacturers as a stop-gap measure to force them into production of medical equipment needed in the supply chain:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s administration is considering invoking special powers through a law called the Defense Production Act to rapidly expand domestic manufacturing of protective masks and clothing to combat the coronavirus in the United States, two U.S. officials told Reuters.

The use of the law, passed by Congress in 1950 at the outset of the Korean War, would mark an escalation of the administration’s response to the outbreak. The virus first surfaced in China and has since spread to other countries including the United States.

U.S. health officials have told Americans to begin preparing for the spread of the virus in the United States.

The law grants the president the power to expand industrial production of key materials or products for national security and other reasons. The biggest producers of face masks in the United States include 3M Corp and Honeywell International Inc.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar told lawmakers this week that the United States needs a stockpile of about 300 million N95 face masks – respiratory protective devices – for medical workers to combat the spread of the virus. The United States currently has only a fraction of that number available for immediate use, Azar testified.

[…] “Let’s say ‘Company A’ makes a multitude of respiratory masks but they spend 80% of their assembly lines on masks that painters wear and only 20% on the N95,” the White House official said. “We will have the ability to tell corporations, ‘No, you change your production line so it is now 80% of the N95 masks and 20% of the other.’”

“It allows you to basically direct things happening that need to get done,” the official added.

HHS declined to comment. DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (read more)
