Breaking Overnight: Senate Reaches Deal for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act…

With caution applied, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced around 2:00am ET a deal had been reached for the nearly $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) bill.

The final language for “HR.748” (stripped and newly assembled) will take place today.  Looks like the senate is using an old bill, previously passed by the House, so the House can deem and pass, without formally reconvening. There are ten republican amendments. Speaking from the floor, both McConnell and Schumer made remarks describing the bill.

Prompted, just hit play:

.The senate is adjourned until Noon today (Wednesday).

2) There’s no vote locked in for later today. But what that means is, if there are no objections from REPUBLICANS, they could clear this bill without a formal roll call vote.

Parliamentarily, that is the fastest way to move something on the floor.

3) But all GOPers must also grant consent. Otherwise, it’s not unanimous. That’s why unanimous consent in the Senate is so powerful.
Otherwise, they must have a regular roll call vote. May also have to clear procedural hurdle which could slow things up. That needs 60 yeas

Smart Move – Texas Governor Greg Abbott Signs Waiver Allowing Restaurants to Sell Food Retail…

Thank you Greg Abbott.  This is the first smart move by a state leader recognizing the realities of the system at hand.  Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a waiver allowing restaurants to sell their bulk food directly to retail customers.

Amid all of the reactionary decisions by elected officials, this is a smart, and temporary move that can take pressure off the retail supply chain.  Hopefully others will follow.

Leadership is often about recognizing the unique landscape and taking ‘outside the box’ action in response to current conditions.  Greg Abbott recognizes there are two distinctly different supply-chains, and this modification can open one distribution valve.

Most consumers are not aware food consumption in the U.S. is now a 50/50 proposition. Approximately 50% of all food was consumed “outside the home” (or food away from home), and 50% of all food consumed was food “inside the home” (grocery shoppers).

Food ‘outside the home’ includes: restaurants, fast-food locales, schools, corporate cafeterias, university lunchrooms, manufacturing cafeterias, hotels, food trucks, park and amusement food sellers and many more.  Many of those venues are not thought about when people evaluate the overall U.S. food delivery system; however, this network was approximately 50 percent of all food consumption on a daily basis.

The ‘food away from home‘ sector has its own supply chain.  Very few restaurants and venues (cited above) purchase food products from retail grocery outlets.   As a result of the coronavirus mitigation effort the ‘food away from home’ sector has been reduced by half of daily food delivery operations, possibly more.  However, people still need to eat.

That means retail food outlets, grocers, are seeing sales increases of 25 to 50 percent, depending on the area.  This, along with some panic shopping, is the reason why supermarkets are overwhelmed and their supply chain is out of stock on many items.

(Link)

The aspect that most models are missing, is the pressure on the supply-chain will not soon end. The restaurant sector (‘food away from home’) appears to be operating at far less than half capacity (perhaps as low as 25%) due to coronavirus restrictions. As long as those food consumers remain shifted into the retail supply chain (food at home), there are going to be long-term shortages due to capacity constraints and distribution limits.

There is enough food capacity in the overall food supply chain, and no-one should worry about the U.S. ever running out of the ability to feed itself.  However, the total food supply chain is based on two segments: food at home and food away from home.

The seismic shift toward ‘food at home‘ is what has caused the shortages, and that supply chain is not likely to recover full service of products again until the ‘food away from home’ sector gets back to normal.   No need to panic, but there will be long-term shortages.

At the top of the food supply there is ample product and capacity.  Its the diversion of customers to the retail grocery sector causing the shortages.

Large chain-stores were impacted first and worst as their proprietary supply chain, and their automated replenishment systems, are more vulnerable to such wide-scale disruption. Their resupply is based on eight week averages; all of the technology that builds the technological framework of that resupply-chain is useless now. However, smaller regional markets, less than 25 stores or mom-and-pops, are/were impacted less due to their use of wholesalers for distribution and a faster response time.

However, in this phase-3 those wholesalers will now enter a period where they are in competition for resupply with the large retail outlets…. so we are entering the phase were smaller stores, and independents, are going to have more trouble getting product.

In addition to the shortages in frozen foods, processed lunch-meat and dairy items, the non-perishable goods will also have wide-spread outages.  Again, this is a store issue (phase-1), distribution capacity issue (phase-2), and will now become an upstream production capacity issue in phase-3.

Bread, canned goods, rice, cereals, pasta, flour, sugar, bottled water, etc. are selling beyond the capacity of the traditional supply chain to keep up with demand.

Traditional emergency food recovery and distribution models (think hurricanes) are designed for short-term disruptions to the restaurant sector that provides 50% of food outside the home; and, as a result, short-term increases to at home food needs.  Those emergency and recovery models have contingency plans for short-term regional bursts of specific non perishable products into specific areas.  This ain’t that.

The current supply chain disruption is a severe reduction in the availability of ‘food outside the home‘ for a sustained period.  Losing the entire sector is very unusual, unprecedented, unforeseen in scale; and there is no national contingency plan for a nationwide demand on all retail supermarket food products simultaneously.

Check out how fast things increased.  This scale of increase is why the system is overwhelmed (note this is also weeks behind):

USA RICE – Social media platforms are full of pictures of empty store shelves, fueling rumors of shortages, and potentially fueling additional panic and hoarding.

USA Rice President & CEO Betsy Ward issued the following statement:

“U.S. consumers need not be concerned about a shortage of U.S.-grown rice. There is no shortage. Rice is a nutritious and inexpensive staple that when kept under the right conditions can last almost indefinitely, so it makes sense consumers would want an ample supply on hand during this crisis.

“If you see depleted rice shelves in your local grocery store, it is not a supply problem, it is a signifier of changing logistics in the retail market. For a few years now, stores that used to keep one month or more of products on hand have largely shifted to a ‘just-in-time’ model to improve their efficiency. When there is a surge in consumer interest for a particular product, supplies on hand may be depleted, but will be quickly replenished. This is the case for U.S.-grown rice. (link)

To gain an idea of the scale of the challenge here’s some big picture analytics. There are approximately 50,000 retail outlets for grocery sales nationwide with about 250 large scale distribution centers (warehouses) regionally placed.

A conservative average across all brands (and varieties) would be 40 cases per outlet of pasta, soup or rice.  That’s a need of 2 million cases (50,000 x 40) at retail.

However, the 250 distribution centers would also need 2 million cases, for a replenishment average of 7 to 14 days later. Additionally, within 14 days (from the original delivery date) another 2 million cases would have to arrive from the manufacturer(s) to resupply the distribution centers.  That’s a total of 6 million cases to return to normal operations; and then maintain the demand.

• It seems impossible for the current retail supply chain (all outlets) to start from near ZERO and generate 6,000,000 cases of rice, soup or pasta (all brands), delivered by 2,400 tractor trailers nationwide in 14 days (2,500 cases per trailer, equals 2,400 trailers – total supply chain).  The inability of the supply chain to support this is what has led to the current situation.

Bottom Line – Without something changing there are going to be long term retail supermarket shortages until restaurants re-open.  Yes, the total food supply chain is ok, but the retail sector of the supply chain is grossly overwhelmed.  Math is math and too few are doing it.  Action like this will help…

Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste!

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti threatened “non-essential” businesses that if they do not obey the city’s “stay at home” order to close during the COVID-19 crisis, he will cut off their water and their electricity.

Nevada’s Democrat Gov. Steve Sisolak signs order Tuesday outlawing the use of antimalarial drugs for sufferers of the coronavirus.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has released 1,700 inmates from county facilities and orders gun stores in the county closed.

Post by Ben.

Big government just passed a 2 trillion dollar stimulus bill filled with socialist pork. The news channels relentlessly beat out a daily drumbeat of fear. The Federal Reserve continues to flip switches and pump $75 billion per day into the financial markets.

All over a flu virus.

Yes, the coronavirus–and that’s what all flu viruses are–is a virulent strain, but we’ve had bad flu waves hit before and we didn’t quarantine the world and shut down economies. In 2009, the H1N1 or ’swine flu’ virus killed many thousands—up to 500,000 worldwide according to one CDC number, but it’s all vague. It killed many thousands of Americans too, but Obama did nothing and there was no mass fear and quarantines. Do a search on flu deaths for any year and page after page of CDC gobbledygook comes up. They certainly don’t make it easy to find the numbers. They control the data and that in and of itself is dangerous because the CDC is a corrupt agency and a revolving door for Big Pharma.

The eugenicist Bill Gates and his associates held a conference that involved studying the outcomes of a mass viral infection. The Deep State swamp has been preparing for this for a while, and now they’re making full use of the crisis. It sure seems planned to me, and now the Illuminati get to ram socialism and their climate change bunk down our throats while accustoming us to martial law as their mass media constantly spews fear. Merely questioning the official health ‘authorities’ can result in censorship.

Big government always takes advantage of fear to strip us of liberty. FDR said we had nothing to fear but fear itself, but he used fear of huge fines and prison sentences to get Americans turn in their gold. He paid them in dollars, sure, but then he devalued those dollars.

During WWII, big government got businesses to pay quarterly taxes to raise war funds more quickly. It was supposed to be temporary, but naturally it became permanent. Big government brought us the Orwellian ‘Patriot Act’ after 9-11. They use fear and our own patriotism against us. Now the Department of Justice has suggested a temporary suspension of habeas corpus in order to lock up mass amounts of people without the bother of having to follow the Constitution. Yes, this is the same DOJ led by an attorney general who has not indicted or arrested any of the Deep State Swamp criminals.

The problem with government power grabs during any crisis is they seldom relinquish such power later on. Government only grows—it never contracts.  Even Trump is going along with the farce. Some say the virus hysteria was done on purpose so our president and military can remove the entrenched satanists and pedophiles at the top of the pyramid, but that strikes me as mere wishful thinking. Instead it’s all about controlling the citizen cattle still further. They always say it’s a ‘war’ on this or that.

In reality, it always ends up being a war against We the People and this one will only result in the further destruction of our Republic.

My Views on COVID-19, A letter to President Trump

Dear Mr. President

When you took office In January 2017 I had hope for the future of our republic for the first time since I retired in 2006 and was able to spent more time studying the many things that just didn’t make sense to me socially, economically and politically in our country.  Without going into the details of my education which ranged from A state 1st place  award in Physics in 1958, to a Master degree from CASE leading to being inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma society and lastly to being a commissioned office in the US Special Forces in Vietnam. In addition is was entrepreneur and corporate executive and I hold eight US patents one of which led to the method used to back light most display devices  i.e. computer screens today.

So now out of the blue (China) we have a new version of the Coronavirus series called COVID-19 which initially appeared to be significantly more deadly than other virus’s. This caused world concern because China had hid the virus for at least a month before indicating the existence of it.  Without going into all the gory details suffice it to say that the political policies of China  created a massive world wide problem before anyone realized what was happening.

Europe which didn’t follow what President trump did with the quick closing of travel from the source China  quickly found themselves in deep trouble however some interesting statistics have now come to light. The death rate is .8% if the person has not had a prior [serous] illness. Assuming this is actuate and there is no reason to think it is not then shutting down the country is not what we should be doing.

Now we are 5 weeks +/- into the infection in the United States and are now under the direction of our president we are getting a handle on what is happening and the systems and procedures are now in place to get the required medial supplies and  testing out there so that we maybe able to lift some of the more harsh restrictions from the citizens. Based on the Italian data there is no justification for the lock down that we are now in.

Since we were on track to 70,000 deaths from the flue this year and US deaths from COVID-19 are now around 900 and both the flue and COVID-19 hit the same category of people it would seem to me that the current focus is misdirected. The best solution was not to shut down the country but to protect the age groups that was going to be affected e.g. over 65 with especially with serious prior serious medical complications.  also younger people serious prior serious medical complications.  And in both groups men are more likely to die than women.

This is critical for if we can’t quickly restart the economy the cascading effect of business closing down for lack of funds (no workers no sales) would drive the unemployment rate to levels never seen in this country. This could happen very quickly because the efficient supply chains that exist today do not have much slack (inventor) in them. And since this is a word wide problem everyone is basically on there own.

How could all of this happen in such a short period of time?

Since we have never done anything like this before with any other serious viruses why this time? Well I can think of a really good reason and I do realize that its speculation however as a former officer in the Green Beret’s, who were training to look at methods to cause social unrest I used that skepticism to check into why somethings were promoted and some were not. So here is my take on the current situation with COVID-19. This is strictly a personal opinion.

President Trump rightly understood that China was taking advantage of the ‘lacks’ policies in Washington DC (congress) and New Your City (Wall Street) where greedy politicians and financial groups found that they could make a lot of money by closing down US manufacturing and shipping that production to China  (mostly). When Trump was elected he immediately started to change that and a lot of powerful people were not happy with that as Trump was cutting into their personal wealth.  Opposition to Trump formed quickly  with progressive Democrat’s, the Never Trump-ers banding together with the entrenched mostly liberal DC bureaucracy (deep state) to form an alliance to remove Trump from office, which I’ll call the Never Trump Cabal (NTC).  The national media joined in and we got: That trump was in bed with Putin in Russia, Trump was involved in a Quid Pro Quo with the Ukraine, and Trump was anti free trade, a racist, xenophobia anti women, anti black, anti gay anti jew all culminating after 3 plus years with the House impeachment.  None of this worked and the Never Trump Cabal was panicked that Trump would continue to cut into the China trade imbalance and that was going to hurt them financially.

In December 2019 a new virus popped up and was hidden by China. I would guess at this point the NTC got wind of this and formed a partnership with the Communist party in China to take down Trump. I would guess that they didn’t expect Trump to act so quickly and they had hoped that China would flood the world with infected travelers and thereby spread the virus now  identified as COVID-19. Trumps quick actions saved the US from the worst of it but Europe being slow to react got the full blunt of the COVID-19 attack.

The US 15 day stay at home program to minimize exposure was advance my the US CDC and NIH personnel lead my Doctor Anthony Fauci who did not recommend to president Obama anything like this in the 2009 H1N1 epidemic which resulted in 61,000,000 cases of H1N1, 274,000 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths.  Why the difference?

My theory is that the Never Trump Cabal (NTC) wants the shut down to destroy the US middle class (Trumps base) and therefore the US economy and their hope is that will allow them to get rid of Trump by blaming all this on him.

The only way to prevent this is to Get Back To Work Now.

Italy & Spain Fining People for Breaking Quarantine

The Italian government is considering tightening up existing quarantine restrictions as more than 53,000 people in the country have been charged by police in the past eight days with breaking the existing rules. In Spain, the fine is €300. It is very strange that you lock down the entire country when the vulnerable people are 65+. This really makes no sense for it will be impossible to rebuild the economy in any short order. Perhaps this is the prelude to the Monetary Crisis Cycle where we are witnessing the collapse of the financial system, and a revision I have been calling Bretton Woods II

Here is the 2nd Letter to Trump Send it Everywhere You Can

Nevada Governor Signs Emergency Order Banning Prescriptions of Hydroxychloroquine For Treatment of Coronavirus…

This is almost unbelievable, if it wasn’t for the fact the governor is a democrat.  Hopefully voters are paying close attention to this stuff and will remember in November.  All of these authoritarian tendencies are being triggered by the opportunity known as COVID-19.

The DEMOCRAT governor of Nevada has signed an executive order banning the use of hydroxychloroquine as a medical treatment for those suffering from the coronavirus.

LAS VEGAS — Nevada’s governor has signed an emergency order barring the use of anti-malaria drugs for someone who has the coronavirus.

Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak’s order Tuesday restricting chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine comes after President Donald Trump touted the medication as a treatment for the virus. (read more)

This level of severe Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) will immediately open a black-market for people to travel across state lines to obtain their medical needs.  Great job idiot.

I hate to say I warnedyaso, but…

LA Mayor Garcetti Goes Full Dictator – Will Shut Down Water and Power For Those Who Defy “Stay At Home” Order…

First they released 1,700 inmates.  Then the LA Sheriff shut down all the gun stores, saying they were not essential services…. Now LA Mayor Garcetti announces he will shut down water and electricity for anyone who attempts to defy the stay at home edicts.

…”The easiest way to avoid a visit” from the LA storm-troopers “is to follow the rules”… “Your behavior can save a life” Garcetti said, “And that life could be yours.”…

The official “neighborhood prosecutors” have been assigned. The LA Directorate of Coronavirus Compliance has now been activated.  Choose carefully comrade citizen.  That’s a nice place you’ve got there, it’d be a shame if anything happened to it..

Los Angeles – […] He reminded young people that the virus can hit them too, urging them to stay at home and practice social distancing.

“Your behavior can save a life and take a life,” Garcetti said. “And that life could be yours.”

The mayor addressed President Trump’s remarks from earlier Tuesday about having the nation “opened up and just raring to go by Easter.” Garcetti said he didn’t think L.A. would be back to normal “in that short time.”

“We won’t extend it one day longer than we need to,” Garcetti said, but emphasized that the “safer at home” measure had to be followed through.

The mayor said L.A. is six to 12 days behind New York in being hit with a wave of positive cases.

“The peak is not here yet,” he said. “It will be bad.”

Garcetti emphasized the need for medical workers who can test, treat, heal and tend to coronavirus patients. He announced that together with L.A. County, the city has opened up a portal for medical personnel recruitment, with both paid and pro-bono positions.

“We need to be prepared for some of the darkness that is ahead,” the mayor said. “Each one of us can be a light. We can light a match of hope. We can navigate that tunnel with each other and not alone. And more importantly, what we do can ensure that more people exit that tunnel together… and that our city will rise again.”

The mayor went on to announce the “business ambassadors program” — an effort to get nonessential businesses to close.

“This behavior is irresponsible and selfish,” he said of those that remain open.

He said the Department of Water and Power will shut off services for the businesses that don’t comply with the “safer at home” ordinance.

Neighborhood prosecutors will implement safety measures and will contact the businesses before issuing further action, according to Garcetti.  (read more)
