Trump Administration Awards Largest Ever FEMA Grant to Rebuild Puerto Rico Power Grid…

Puerto Rico serves as a strategic economic region to recapture the Pharmaceutical industry.  Historically Puerto Rico was a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing; however, due to poor and undependable infrastructure, an outcome of terrible management in government, combined with competitive incentives provided by alternative nations, most PR pharma operations moved to India and China.

With the Trump administration confronting Big Pharma on multiple fronts, including the need for a secure supply chain, a cost-effective approach is massive investment to repair and replace the island infrastructure.  Today the White House announces the largest FEMA grant in history as an underpinning to this strategic objective.

WHITE HOUSE – Statement from the Press Secretary on the Largest FEMA Infrastructure Grants Being Awarded to Puerto Rico.

The Trump Administration announced that the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) plans to award two of its largest grants ever for infrastructure projects in Puerto Rico.

Under the leadership of President Trump, FEMA will award almost $13 billion to help rebuild Puerto Rico’s electrical grid system and spur recovery of the territory’s education system—the largest obligations of funding ever awarded. This funding amount includes a Federal share of $11.6 billion for the projects.

Together, these grants exceed the total Public Assistance funding in any single federally-declared disaster other than Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. Federal funding of $9.6 billion will allow the Puerto Rico Electrical Power Authority to repair and replace thousands of miles of transmission and distribution lines, electrical substations, power generation systems, office buildings, and make other grid improvements. The $2 billion grant for the Puerto Rico Department of Education will focus on restoring school buildings and educational facilities across the island.

The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 included funding for FEMA to support Hurricane Maria response and recovery, as well as language helping FEMA to ensure that Puerto Rico rebuilds its critical lifelines, services, and facilities in accordance with current industry standards.

All critical infrastructure projects are funded under FEMA’s Public Assistance Alternative Procedures, pursuant to Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. This innovative funding method allows Puerto Rican officials to work with FEMA to determine how to best meet their unique recovery needs. As part of the 428 procedures, the funding being announced today was reviewed and validated by an independent expert review panel and agreed to by both FEMA and Puerto Rico.

With the grant awards announced today, the Federal Government will have obligated approximately $26 billion for Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria. Today’s grant announcements represent some of the largest awards in FEMA’s history for any single disaster recovery event and demonstrate the Federal Government’s continuing commitment to help rebuild the territory and support the citizens of Puerto Rico and their recovery goals.  (link)

“Peace is The Prize” – President Trump Meets With His Excellency Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the State of Kuwait – Schedules 2:00pm Press Conference…

Good indications for continued progress toward peace in the Middle-East.  President Trump has called for a 2:00pm press conference (not previously scheduled) following an oval office meeting with Amir Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the State of Kuwait.

This could be yet another partner announcement in the normalization of relations with Israel.  CTH predicted Kuwait would be next.  It would make sense for Kuwait, Oman and Sudan to come next in the process before the heavy -and more complex- nations (Qatar & Saudi).

Protocols and pageantry are culturally very important to the Arab nations and they have a long history of using pageantry as part of political celebration.  According to Kuwait news and the White House President Trump is awarding the Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.  His son is receiving the award in a private ceremony.

This honor will be received very well by Kuwait as a recognition of their importance in the region.  It is a good diplomatic and strategic move.  The Legion of Merit was last awarded by a U.S. President in 1991.

WHITE HOUSE – Today, President Donald J. Trump is awarding the Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait.

A leader in the Middle East for decades, the Amir has been a truly unwavering friend and partner to the United States. He provided indispensable support to the United States throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Defeat-ISIS campaign. The Amir is also an unparalleled diplomat, having served as his nation’s Foreign Minister for 40 years. His tireless mediation of disputes in the Middle East has bridged divides under the most challenging circumstances. The President is very pleased to award this honor to his dear friend, the Amir.

The Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, is a rarely-awarded, prestigious decoration that can only be bestowed by the President, typically to chiefs of state or heads of government of other countries. The honor was last awarded in 1991.

The Amir’s eldest son, His Excellency Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah of the State of Kuwait, will accept the award on behalf of the Amir in a private ceremony. (link)

….”Complicated business folks, …complicated business”…

“Blessed are the peacemakers…”

Why does it take an outsider to finally achieve peace in the Middle East?

War sells. Peace doesn’t.

Donald Trump has achieved something that eluded the Washington establishment for over 50 years.

Of course, the Washington establishment really didn’t want peace. They wanted to make billions from war. Never forget War.Inc  is big business.

Donald Trump is destroying that business.

The historic peace agreement was announced last month, paving the way for full normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE.

The UAE becomes the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to have full diplomatic ties with the Jewish state, as per the deal.

Israel also signaled it was willing to explore business opportunities with the UAE after the deal went public.

Many Trump allies called for a Nobel in response to Trump’s negotiations with North Korea.

If this were a fair world, Trump would receive the Nobel Peace prize.

Mainstream media play down Trump foreign policy successes

Mainstream media play down Trump foreign policy successes

Trump Derangement Syndrome remains the only explanation for the failure of the mainstream media to laud President Trump for his two amazing diplomatic and historic breakthroughs over the past two weeks.

  • Serbian President Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hoti signed economic normalization agreements at the White House on 4 September—whilst President Trump also announced the normalization of ties and mutual recognition between Israel and Kosovo—a majority Muslim country—and Serbia’s commitment to move its Embassy to Jerusalem.
Ambassador Ric GrenelI summed up President Trump’s role:

“I think everybody knows that we’ve been stuck politically in this issue for decades, and many times fighting about symbolic things. And what President Trump did from the very beginning is say: Let’s flip it. Let’s figure out how to do economics first. You can’t pay your rent and you can’t buy food with symbolism, but you can when you have a job.

And from the very beginning, what President Trump said is: Let’s give them a little taste of the Trump economy. Let’s show them how to develop economics, how to take industries and grow them. And let’s see if the concentration on economics and job creation can unstick the political stuff. That remains to be seen. “

Serbia’s President Vucic thanked President Trump for doing a “great job”—adding:

“When I say “great job,” I really mean it, because your people and you wanted to engage yourself into a matter that, as a matter of fact, very few people wanted to do. And also your commitment to stabilize the region and to bring peace and stability to the region is something that we appreciate a lot. It’s something of utmost significance for us.”

The best the New York Times could do was conclude that these announcements:

“provided Trump with a diplomatic win ahead of the November presidential election and furthers his administration’s push to improve Israel’s international standing.”

  • The signing of the Abraham Accords and peace treaties between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on 15 September—the first peace treaties between Israel and Arab states since 1994.

The New York Times greeted these historic and ground breaking agreements advancing world peace and helping to end the Jewish-Arab conflict that has raged unresolved for 100 years with articles headlined:

  • “A White House Ceremony Will Celebrate a Diplomatic Win and Campaign Gift”
  • “The leaders of Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have a stake in President Trump’s re-election and helped him become a peacemaker.”
  • “The U.A.E.-Israel Flight Is Nothing to Celebrate”
  • “Israel, U.A.E. and Bahrain Sign Accords, With an Eager Trump Playing Host

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany called out reporters for not asking even one question about Trump’s accomplishment and, instead, finding fault with the peace deals rather than give President Trump credit:

“What I will weigh into is the Middle East deal, the Middle East peace deal, signed yesterday that I did not receive a single question about. That was the first time it’s happened in a quarter-century.

“If Obama and Biden had achieved this, it would look a lot different.

“You wouldn’t have (MSNBC’s) Chuck Todd saying he’s uncomfortable with the deal that brings peace between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and Bahrain. You wouldn’t have CBS calling it ‘a business deal.’”

Two of the greatest foreign policy successes by any President ever are played down by the mainstream media as it continues to give no credit to the President in a concerted effort to see him fail to earn a second term.

Mainstream media fake news will certainly continue unabated until Election Day.

Optimistic Recovery – Weekly Jobless Claims 860k, Lower Than Expected…

The U.S. Department of Labor has released weekly jobless claims totals showing an employment recovery effort still underway. While the initial claims are 860,000 they are lower than expectations, highlighting positive job gains in the overall economy.

(DOL) In the week ending September 12, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 860,000, a decrease of 33,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 9,000 from 884,000 to 893,000. The 4-week moving average was 912,000, a decrease of 61,000 from the previous week’s revised average. (link)

(CNBC) […] Another piece of good news was a decline in continuing claims, which fell 916,000 to 12.63 million, compared with the 13 million consensus from FactSet. The four-week moving average for continuing claims dropped by 532,750 to 13.5 million. Continuing claims peaked at 24.9 million in early May. (more)

The key for continued economic success is to get the blue regions and blue states to re-open their economies.  However, unfortunately that positive direction is against their political interests.  Democrats are willing to inflict economic pain for political benefit.
