• Phase One was retail. • Phase two was distribution. • Phase three was the space between manufacturing and distribution. • Phase four is raw material supply to manufacturing. U.S. food processing, and manufacturing is now operating at full capacity.
By now the majority of protein manufacturing has caught up. Beef and pork should be solid at your local market; however, chicken, while available, will lag to full replenishment capacity in the protein sector. The reason is: “chicken” is an ingredient component in many shelf stable items (soup etc.), that are still short as the manufacturing sector runs at capacity.
We enter a phase where grain commodities are now arriving at manufacturing.
♦ Between the Appalachian mountain range and the Colorado mountain range there is a massive amount of grain, meal, and derivative (farming) product generated. Thin component inventories, now exhausted at processing, are the cause of the current manufacturing supply chain stress… This lag will take a little longer.
There are train-loads of grain products heading both East and West daily; but there is a process of background prioritization taking place within the grain (total), flour, meal, rice and dried beans sector. The downstream ingredient system has a long-term and short-term priority schedule.
Example: total flour is prioritized to industrial bakeries for the production of bread. Nationally retail or consumer flour shortages are caused by prioritization in this part of the supply-chain.
Dry pasta will eventually catch up as manufacturers receive millions of metric tonnes of raw material. However, the canned pasta derivatives (think Chef Boyardee etc.) will come after. The same applies to macaroni (mac-n-cheese) manufacturing.
The grain and row crop farmers are loving the emptying of regional, industrial, dry storage silos; there will be a long-term benefit in the next harvest season.
Remember, chicken is a base ingredient for many shelf-stable items such as soup noodles (Ramen), as well as wet and dry soups. The temporary shortage of chicken will extend for an unknown time-frame as the retail chicken and manufacturing sector are both pulling from Chicken farmers. Because both segments are pulling inventory, the ability of soup manufacturers to catch up is a little limited. You are probably noticing that on retail shelves.
Chicken is also a big part of frozen processed food production. In addition to chicken nuggets, patties etc; it is also the primary ingredient for many blends of frozen dinner foods.
Rice is similar in that it is a base ingredient for a variety of sectors: plain rice, shelf stable blends, stuffings and many frozen prepared meals pull from rice harvests. The manufacturing sector will catch up, but the raw material is diversely spread into multiple manufacturing segments; so it takes a bit longer.
A note of caution, the dry pet foods category could also see a slight shortage in manufacturing as they draw from rice and grain supplies. You might see some empty shelves of dry dog and cat foods as a consequence. [Just an fyi]
Fruit juices are abundant as the seasonality of berries has left very little disruption in that sector. Water and enhanced water products that use fruit juices were only constrained by distribution issues (phases two and three), and those should be back to normal. Frozen fruit products and desserts also unaffected (except for distribution).
Dehydrated potato products will also catch up soon as the retail demand is never too extreme on an ordinary basis. They don’t need to manufacture too many dried potato varieties to catch up. Frozen potato products are only a distribution capacity issue. Good ol’ taters are solid.
Dried beans again are a multi-segment derivative. Used in dry and wet soups, shelf stable products, rice blends, pet foods etc. It might take a little longer to see raw dried beans back in stock as the manufacturing sector for the derivatives soaks up the beans. Wet beans (baked beans) should be back in business very soon; if not already.
Canned vegetable production is almost unimaginable in scale amid the big manufacturers. One can assume they are buying up the bulk row crops, wet beans and corn silos from all sources. However, on the positive side they can crank out canned vegetables at an astonishing rate and the restaurant bulk business doesn’t need it.
Overall, the majority of products should be back on our store shelves very soon, if not already (depending on region). It’s the manufactured shelf-stable items that are now playing catch-up. Meat cases should have ample products as the distribution was running 24/7 for almost the past month; again, with the single exception of chicken as noted above. Retail eggs may take longer as eggs are also needed as a raw material.
On the paper and chemical side there is still a big void. However, that void is almost certainly an issue with “cube space” prioritization from phase two and three. Cube space is literally the amount of space it takes to ship products.
Paper goods take up a lot of shipping space and with demands on food – paper good distribution is not as critical or urgent. That is likely why the lack of toilet tissue has remained for so long… Sheesh, who knew.
Big manufacturing soap and chemical users also have been challenged with the extreme demand for sanitary products. Hand soap, hand sanitizing, personal hygiene and also surface sanitizing products are beyond extreme demand. Here I would place a note of caution… Again, prioritization has to happen.
When given a choice between laundry/dish detergent and personal hygiene products we can expect the manufacturers will prioritize production of the latter first.
This *could* lead to a shortage in laundry and dish soaps. Just keep that in mind if you are seeing some of your favorite brands in those sectors missing.
In the interim, the total retail supply chain has done some exceptional work in handling this demand. With a little more patience I’m confident all will return to normal within the next few weeks.
The United States of America has the greatest food production system in the world. From field to fork this massive network has operated almost invisibly to the majority of Americans. The coronavirus issues have highlighted just how critical our supply chain is within the U.S. As a result now we understand how important these comfortably invisible people are, and we have the opportunity to thank them.
The “Blue Plague” is an intentional effort by various interests to create fear-porn amid the American population by intentionally hyping a mass hysteria about the coronavirus. In many ways the Blue Plague is exponentially more dangerous than COVID-19 itself.
Earlier today, The New York Times became the epicenter of the Blue Plague by stating people in hospitals throughout the city were dying, as desperately under-prepared and under-equipped doctors and nurses could not find ventilators for thousands of arriving patients in a state of panic. This was/is incitement at its worst.
Blue doctors and Blue nurses, aligned with the political resistance efort, transmitted videos claiming desperate and dying patients, using the term “apocalyptic surge“…
[…] hospitals are under siege. New York City’s hospitals run the gamut from prestigious teaching institutions catering to the elite to public hospitals providing care for some of the poorest communities in the nation. Regardless of whom they serve, few have been spared the impact of the pandemic: A flood of sick and fearful New Yorkers has besieged emergency rooms across the city.
[…] At least two city hospitals have filled up their morgues, and city officials anticipated the rest would reach capacity by the end of this week, according to the briefing. The state requested 85 refrigerated trailers from FEMA for mortuary services, along with staff, the briefing said. (link)
Of course, all of the emphasis is false, everyone is getting treated, and so far the pandemic has created no more of a crisis than a high-flu season. However, the panic such fear-porn creates can deliver a self-fulfilling outcome. Immediately, the downstream media, specifically CNN, take the script and begin amplifying the panic story-line.
This unfortunate gross-media manipulation is exactly what caused task force member Dr. Birx to step to the microphones today and state the activity on the ground does not match the fear-porn models that media are hyping. WATCH:
Comrades, the Twitter Directorate of Narrative Approval has found The Conservative Treehouse in violation of state interests for challenging acceptable thought around the coronavirus pandemic. Dissent cannot be tolerated:
We have been notified our continued participation in the national conversation is contingent upon our agreement that panic and fear is the only opinion in the interests of the state. Unless and until we accept the terms of state interest we must remain silent.
Fight on comrades; while we still have a nation worth fighting for. Do not allow yourselves to be overcome with dark imaginings. Keep a smile in your heart and a kindness toward your neighbor. We will forever support you… Remember, “rally to the standard”.
Borrowing from Mike Vanderboegh – This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible.
Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.
But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.
And when we are gone, the scattered, free survivors hiding in the ruins of our once-great republic will sing of our deeds in forbidden songs, tending the flickering flame of individual liberty until it bursts forth again, as it must, generations later. We will live forever, like the Spartans at Thermopylae, in sacred memory.
With profound appreciation for your time and attention, and the most warm of regards.
Truly,
Sundance
As a result of Americans seeing a direct and accountable, solution-driven, business approach being applied to a national emergency, the approval ratings for President Trump have jumped significantly. Optimal solutions are not always perfect; but in times of crisis, great leaders know to generate optimal solutions. The entire administration is focused on achieving optimal solutions for every part of the coronavirus challenge as they surface.
You knew it was going to happen… The U.S. Chamber of Commerce (President Tom Donohue) begins having apoplectic fits at the thought of even stronger Trump administration policies that might undercut their Chinese manufacturing investments.
The U.S. CoC is the biggest stakeholder of U.S. multinational companies doing business in China. The Trump administration has been warning them for years to put America Firstin their business plans; and now with the Chinese Pandemic showing just how dangerous it is for critical manufacturing to be made in the U.S.A, chamber President Tom Donohue is pleading to keep the U.S. dependent on China.
Keep in mind, this is the EXACT SAME group who said the steel and aluminum tariffs were going to cause massive inflation driving up the price of all consumer goods and cars by thousands of dollars… It never happened; because the CoC are manipulative liars.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – White House plans to expand “Buy America” mandates to the medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors could worsen shortages of urgently needed medicines and delay discovery of a vaccine for the new coronavirus, over 80 business groups warned.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and dozens of other business and trade groups urged U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow and other top U.S. officials to drop plans for the order, arguing it would also damage U.S. trading relationship for years to come.
“Preventing federal agencies from sourcing medical equipment and pharmaceutical ingredients from abroad … would only exacerbate the supply shortages racking the United States,” said a letter from the groups, which was also addressed to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, a long-time trade hawk who is crafting the order, told Fox News late on Wednesday evening that he expected movement on the issue shortly. (read more)
Our battle against the U.S. Chamber of Crony Commerce has been ongoing for many years. When Donald Trump came down the escalator, our initial support was based on the possibility President Trump would crush the influence of the CoC and all its minions.
Donohue is the disgusting bile, the residue, that remains after the pus is drained from the swamp. Donohue is the pusher of a Wall Street toxic infection that damn near destroyed the economy of the United States.
The CoC were the primary architects of Clinton, Bush and Obama trade agreements including the insufferable TPP. All three previous administrations sub-contracted the writing of trade agreements to Donohue and his corrupt Wall Street corporate cronies.
The CoC is by far the largest lobbying group in Washington DC and they spend tens of millions trying to retain their Chinese investments. This group will never see quarter from us….

On the heels of more than three million new unemployment claims, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin calls in to CNBC for a phone interview to discuss the coronavirus relief bill that passed last night.
Mnuchin was asked about his reaction to seeing the 3.28 million new unemployment claims reported for the past week during the interview. Mnuchin said, “To be honest, I think these numbers right now aren’t relevant whether they’re bigger or shorter in the short term.” WATCH:

Breaking: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Wednesday that “Washington drama does not matter anymore” and vowed to pass the Coronavirus package today.
“That Washington drama does not matter any more. The Senate is going to stand together, act together, and pass this historic relief package today,” McConnell said.
Post below:
Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat held House wouldn’t cooperate with Mitch McConnell on a relief bill that would help out millions of Americans who have been rendered jobless due to the quarantine.
Apparently Schumer and Pelosi want to work in all sorts of other provisions including climate change pork. The Democrats’ partisan bickering, progressive virtue signaling and, of course, hatred for President Trump undoubtedly helped contribute to the delay.
Such endless and massive currency creation will lead to inflation. Gold and silver should do well, but most Americans are too broke to afford precious metals. Toilet paper is more affordable.
Democrats have had their heads in the sand (or other places) for far too long.

“The human brain is an amazing organ, it starts working in a mother’s womb, and it only stops working when it gets elected to the US Congress.”
It now may be perfectly safe to say, that a human heart starts beating in a mother’s womb, but stops when someone is handed the gavel of the Speaker of the House.
Some are calling Nancy Pelosi’s blocking the Corona-bill nothing more than political blackmail. Some see her as willing to stand on a hill of dead bodies in order to get her political agenda in the hopper.
Americans are not happy with Nancy’s nonsense.
Whatfinger News, perhaps the only web site in decades to be as popular as Drudge, has articles about reaction to Pelosi’s antics splattered across their pages. In fact, on the front page alone on Tuesday March, 24 – there are 24 headlines from websites across the web condemning Pelosi’s latest negative and protracted policy saga.
Here is a short list of articles posted on Whatfinger.com that indicate the vexation Americans are feeling due to Pelosi’s selfish and disruptive behavior in this time of serious crisis.
Every day Pelosi holds up the bill she is holding up America and more people are dying.
We can hold the hope that even Democrats may see Pelosi’s callousness even when the bill is passed and hand her the pink slip in November.
Finding out what’s in the bill, would be the next informed course of action so we can call on our congressmen and senators to push hard to get this bill into law.
To view the 13 key elements of the bill go here.
We cannot allow this ultra-partisan show of anti-Americanism to be forgotten.
Nancy Pelosi claims to be a Christian or at least a Catholic. Considering her stand on abortion that assertion has always been open to debate. Perhaps we could remind her of this fundamental, but powerful admonition from the Bible.
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17
In response to the Coronavirus health care crisis, New York’s Gov. Andrew Cuomo produced an Executive Order containing exceptions that one could “drive a truck through.”And that was the good news from Cuomo’s executive order that went into effect Sunday night March 22 in New York State.
For example, Cuomo designated almost all non-amusement businesses “essential” to some degree, and even though all public gatherings are “temporarily banned,” New Yorkers were still permitted to work remotely and to get exercise by running in city parks, provided they followed “social distancing” directives.
Cuomo’s executive order appeared to recognize the obvious: ordinary, normal Americans raised on the mother’s milk of freedom and liberty would not lightly accept having their movements restricted and their businesses shuttered by an all-powerful state.
Cuomo’s order effectively required “sheltering in place,” but with reasonable accommodation so that New Yorkers and really anyone living in Failed Blue States would not lose their collective minds while being quarantined in their own homes.
But the “Soft Martial Law,” as some have come to call living under a U.S. governor’s executive order, may not last forever. There are battle lines being drawn everywhere, between those who believe in “science,” and those who want risk-reward decisions from those in government leadership, such as President Donald Trump. The “science” advocates believe that if “one more life can be saved,” damn the torpedoes on how much civil liberties are suspended and the economy destroyed.
Sure the health care “Science First” crowd is correct and really can’t be wrong, but wrecking the national economy by bringing commerce and human interactions to a halt almost assuredly will cause myriad more damage that has not even yet been fully conceived.
And that’s why there was hope in New York State, where for years Cuomo the Younger, has been busy ruining the Empire State’s economy by banning fracking, for example, to create an economic basket case. New York State has seen its population flee for years – from an onerous tax burden, renewed crime, burgeoning homelessness and the overreaching regulations – to places such as sunny Florida, which has no state income tax. Only the sustained booming stock market and the efforts of New Yorkers to persevere against all odds have kept the once-great state stay afloat.
And now that New York State has been decimated by him and the Democrats who run it, Cuomo has the audacity to say that the federal government’s massive Coronavirus stimulus efforts do not go far enough!
The U.S. Senate has passed a $2 trillion Coronavirus relief bill, which Cuomo called “terrible” for the State of New York.
“Sounds like a lot of money,” Cuomo said, according to CNBC. But it’s far below the shortfall in revenue that the state projects it will face, which could total $15 billion, according to the governor. “That is a drop in the bucket” compared with what New Yorkers need, he said. “How do you plug a $15 billion hole with $3.8 billion? You don’t.”
Cuomo’s statement recalls the famous joke about the judge who is about to sentence a man for killing his parents, and asks him if there is any reason that the court ought to show mercy. The man responds, “Yeah, because I’m an orphan.”
But also as of Wednesday, Cuomo may now be preparing to get Draconian, perhaps allowing New York City to even close streets and parks to all residents in the nation’s largest city.
State and local officials, CNBC reported, are taking a tougher stance, they say, because city residents aren’t following the state’s guidance encouraging people to maintain a distance of at least six feet from each other, which Cuomo said Wednesday is “effective and necessary” to slow hospitalization rates from Coronavirus.
If outdoor exercise and gathering in parks are outlawed next by Cuomo, it will reverse the “Soft Martial Law,” outlined in the March 20 executive order.
For example, buried in the executive order was a religious exemption that allowed “houses of worship” to remain open, even though churches, synagogues, and mosques were “strongly recommended” to close. The executive order, therefore, permitted religious services provided “social distancing” took place.
Incredibly, some would say, almost no houses of worship in New York City have remained open and all have capitulated to the governor. Those who wanted to continue to pray were eventually shut down by other congregants fearful of others meeting and asking the Almighty to help. When this is all over, this craven response by religious leaders, I predict, will be a sad indictment of their leadership, and certainly calls into question the veracity of previous assertions of the unalterable value of faith in our lives.
So, in conclusion, the “Soft Martial Law,” looks ready to be replaced by Cuomo with a “Medium-Hard Martial Law,” in which all businesses are shuttered, and people leaving their homes would be subject to arrest. This would lead to a status in New York State where if any two people tried to meet outside anywhere in public TO DO ANYTHING, they could be ordered by the police to disperse or face the consequences, which means arrest and going to jail. Their infraction would be called under English Common Law a violation of the Riot Act.
That’s right, Governor Cuomo, the King of New York, has the power at his disposal to rule in a way last seen on these shores held by British royal governors before and during the American Revolution. I’m reasonably sure that this is how the Boston Massacre occurred in 1770 when colonists were killed by Redcoats after they were ordered off the streets.
