How Trump is Taming the Bureaucracy and Saving Lives

From the start of the crisis, President Trump has been trying to figure out—and cut through—the bureaucracy. His latest victory is the decision by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to accept 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate and one million doses of chloroquine phosphate for possible use in treating patients hospitalized with COVID-19 or for use in clinical trials. Trump understands that America cannot wait for a possible vaccine and that patients and their doctors need the freedom now to try alternative treatments.

Senator Tom Coburn: CDC Off Center

In this context, the tragic death of former Senator Tom Coburn is a reminder that the federal health care bureaucracy has been characterized by slow-moving efforts that are sometimes marked by corruption or incompetence. His sad passing is an occasion for remembering that, as a Senator and medical doctor, he released a major study, “CDC Off Center,” about how the federal agency wasted hundreds of millions of tax dollars and has been ineffective in controlling disease. A case in point is the billions wasted on more than 30 years of research into an HIV/AIDS vaccine.

A strong conservative, Coburn was willing to challenge the bureaucracy and expose its malfeasance. He exposed what critics have called the “Medical Deep State.”

We saw the bureaucracy in action in 2014, when the Obama Administration failed to impose a travel ban and prevent disease carriers with the deadly Ebola virus from coming into the United States. The Obama administration actually allowed a carrier of Ebola from Africa, where it originated, into the United States, where he infected two nurses, one of whom had been allowed by the Centers for Disease Control to travel on a plane. He died. The CDC says the outbreak ended with more than 28,600 cases and 11,325 deaths. In the U.S., however, we were fortunate to escape a major outbreak.

Obama’s CDC director, Dr. Tom Frieden, actually wrote an article, “Why I don’t support a travel ban to combat Ebola outbreak.” He is now a leading medical “expert” at the Council on Foreign Relations, a major source of anti-Trump commentaries.

It seemed as if Obama, a globalist, didn’t mind if people in the U.S. were to become infected

My coverage of this disease at the time questioned why Obama opposed a common-sense ban on travel to the U.S. by people from Ebola-infected countries. He also kept the southern border wide open. Simply put, Obama viewed restrictions on African travel to the U.S. as racist. He was giving black Africa special access to the U.S., and putting their interests ahead of America’s.

On another level, it seemed as if Obama, a globalist, didn’t mind if people in the U.S. were to become infected. In his mind, there would be more pressure to find a “cure,” or at least a vaccine. But who knew how many would die in the process? At the time, we didn’t know. It could have been hundreds, or thousands, or more.

A poll from The Washington Post and ABC News showed that 67 percent of people supported a travel ban.

To make matters worse, Obama appointed Ron Klain, an Obama insider and Joe Biden chief-of-staff, as his “Ebola Czar.” He had no experience in the health field. He is now a leading critic of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus but outlets like CNBC fail to note that he worked for a president who knowingly permitted Ebola to take root on American soil.

In regard to coronavirus, Trump has broken decisively with the Obama policy and has forced the health care bureaucracy to come over to his way of thinking. His ban on travel from China, where the virus originated, has saved countless lives. In effect, Trump has been taming the bureaucracy to put America and Americans first.

The failed development of an HIV/AIDS vaccine demonstrates that the Medical Deep State cannot be trusted and relied on in this case

I believe the president’s decision to accelerate the use of anti-malaria drugs to treat coronavirus reflects his skepticism of the bureaucracy’s heavy emphasis on vaccines to “solve” the problem of infectious disease. The failed development of an HIV/AIDS vaccine demonstrates that the Medical Deep State cannot be trusted and relied on in this case.

Since the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in 1981, more than 700,000 American lives have been lost to HIV.  President Trump’s plan, “Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America,” emphasizes drugs as treatments for HIV/AIDS. He promises hope – not false hope.

In the case of Ebola, the CDC quickly announced human testing of an “investigational vaccine to prevent Ebola virus disease” and a so-called “fast-tracking” process was underway. It looked like the CDC was much faster in approving human trials of a vaccine than in stopping Ebola from coming into the U.S. in the first place. Ultimately, however, the first FDA-approved vaccine for the prevention of Ebola wasn’t announced until the end of 2019. But questions remain and it has not been licensed for widespread use. It was another false hope that took too many years to develop through the bureaucracy. It was years too late.

As the feds scramble for another risky and mandatory vaccine, in the case of coronavirus

Hundreds of people got neurological disorders and several dozen died from a swine flu vaccine before it was withdrawn in 1976. The CDC Director at that time, Dr. David J. Sencer, was fired. Yet, the CDC museum is named after him. In addition to the 1976 swine flu debacle, there were several vaccine scandals involving children during the Clinton administration. A hepatitis B vaccine was withdrawn because it contained a toxic substance, and a vaccine against diarrhea was withdrawn because it, too, was dangerous to children.

As the feds scramble for another risky and mandatory vaccine, in the case of coronavirus, remember that Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which created a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, for a reason. Vaccines can be dangerous and backfire.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons argues that “we need the right to try” alternative drugs and treatments, such as the anti-malarial drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. The group notes that an early version of these drugs may have been a key factor in General George Washington’s victory over the British in the Revolutionary War.

In the spirit of George Washington, President Trump is meeting the challenge.

Color-crazed Cuomo Decks Empire State Building With Dystopian Red ‘Siren’ During Coronavirus Spread
Knowing down at heart that their frontrunner, doddering Joe Biden will never make it past the 2020 Election goal post, Democrats are stumping for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as his replacement.  Not only Facebook is loudly blaring the Cuomo horn, but the The Drudge Report and Fox News are already advancing the Democrat cause.

Cuomo, the Elder, has this thing about bathing New York buildings in color to drive home his political points

Savvy Canada Free Press columnist Lee Cary describes it as “a New York think”, saying soon CNN (home of Fredo Cuomo) will be all over it.”

Now that the Big Apple is Ground Zero in the Coronavirus pandemic panic, he’s back at the crayons coloring the top of the Empire State building with a red ‘siren’.

Before Fredo jumps in to defend his brother’s latest move on CNN, this is why the governor did it.

Who died and left Andrew Cuomo in charge of deciding what “the heartbeat of America” is?

This is not the first time the New York Governor has dressed up one of NYC’s iconic buildings to promote his ideals:

“The devil wears pink and it is more than certain that political pinkos are among his most favored people. (Canada Free Press, Jan. 24, 2019.

“The devil—who crawls into the woodwork by pretending that he doesn’t exist—dons pink pussy caps for behind-the-scene dust-ups, stuffs his cloven feet into pink stilettos, plants pink petunias where only roses should grow, and on Monday night was singularly honored when New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had the One World Trade Center lit up in pink to celebrate New York’s new Abortion-Up-Til-Birth law.

The devil wears pink and it is more than certain that political pinkos are among his most favored people

“Cuomo wanted all passersby and motorists to see the One World Trade Center bathed in neon pink in celebration of New York’s new abortion law, but many who saw it, only saw red.

“The devil’s delighted and loud guffaws were amped up by the “WOOHOOS!” of the hate-for-life- crazed Democrats and their mainstream and social media travelling show, who toasted the pink lighting with pink champagne and chardonnay.

“Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) directed authorities to use pink lighting to laud New York’s new abortion law. (Breitbart, Jan. 23, 2019.

“Entitled the Reproductive Health Act, New York’s latest abortion law allows termination of a pregnancy until the expected day of birth with certain limitations:

“[An] abortion may be performed by a licensed, certified, or authorized practitioner within 24 weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or at any time when necessary to protect a patient’s life or health.

“The [Reproductive Health Act] also redefines “person” as “a human being who has been born and is alive,” eliminating the possibility of recognizing the personhood of an unborn child.

“During her presidential campaign in 2016, Hillary Clinton stated that “the unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.”

“Breitbart News also highlighted the Reproductive Health Act’s ending of criminal penalties for self-abortion and harming or killing—with specific mention of “homicide”—unborn children.

“Hillary Clinton praised New York Democrats’ push for and passage of the aforementioned bill, describing abortion as a “reproductive health service.”

In the sad times in which we now live there was little blowback.

“As reported by LifeSiteNews: In New York Tuesday, both chambers of the legislature voted to establish a “fundamental right” to abortion and eliminate all protections for the unborn up until birth.

“The 38-24 vote favored the “Reproductive Health Act”—I take this time to point out the euphemistic nature of laws. Reproductive health sounds like an inarguable virtue, right?

“The bill makes the following declaration:

“Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry the pregnancy to term, to give birth to a child, or to have an abortion.”

“Previously blocked—over a period of years—by the formerly-Republican Senate, the legislation erases a key identification of fetuses older than 24 weeks as potential victims of murder, entirely removes abortion from the penal code, and… …allows people other than licensed health practitioners to perform abortions.

“Summary, it would seem: there is no protection whatsoever for the unborn. Anyone (?) can perform an abortion on any baby that hasn’t yet been birthed.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Empire State Building Dystopian Red ‘Siren’ Light’ won’t do anything to stop the spread of COVID-19, nor the panic that comes with it.

And while the virus has shut the doors of multiple businesses, venues and places of worship, abortion clinics are still up and running.

Final Battle with Socialism

Sweden Bucks the Hysteria – Refuses to Close its Economy

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (his wife) have returned to the United States from Australia and have recovered from this dreaded virus.  We have received countless emails from Sweden where we have a large number of readers, clients, and many very active politically. Sweden has not followed the rest of the West and has taken this virus insanity with a realistic approach. Unlike Demark and Norway, Sweden did not follow with a stay at home order for a month destroying their economy. Sweden shut down ONLY its high schools, colleges while keeping open its preschool and grade schools so not crazy isolation drama. The also kept open the pubs, restaurants, and its borders. It also did not prohibit skying.

While social life in Europe and much of the U.S. now centers on the home isolation and a nose-dive in GDP with a rise in unemployment, Sweden looked at the number and did not see where this would be an epidemic. It will be interesting to see the economic numbers we will be able to look at on a comparison basis.

The CARES Act

Last week, the U.S. Congress passed and President Trump signed into law the CARES Act (the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) — a significant piece of legislation that seeks to provide approximately $2 trillion worth of economic assistance to consumers and businesses.

As a part of the new legislation, the Small Business Administration (SBA) has created a nearly $350 billion loan program called the Paycheck Protection Program. This program is available to businesses with 500 or fewer employees to help with payroll, rent, utilities, healthcare costs and more. The SBA has also expanded a number of their existing programs, including the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program.

The federal government is currently finalizing the details and protocols about how and when different programs and relief will be implemented, and how Bank of America as a financial institution will help facilitate the execution of these programs.
If you believe that you will qualify for relief from the CARES Act:

Although details are still being finalized, some documentation may be required when applying for a program when it becomes available.

Based on the legislation, it may be helpful for interested business owners to gather the following information about their business:
2019 Payroll — including the last 12 months of payroll
2019 Employees — 1099’s for 2019 employees and independent contractors that would otherwise be an employee of your business. (Note: Do NOT include 1099’s for services)
Healthcare costs — all health insurance premiums paid by the business owner under a group health plan.

Michigan Democrat Governor Asks Feds for Hydroxychloroquine to Treat Coronavirus, Four Days After Banning Use…

On Friday March 27th Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer threatened to revoke the medical licenses of doctors and pharmacists who prescribe hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus in Michigan.  Four days later, March 31st, the same governor asks the federal government to send her hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus patients. Go figure.

MICHIGAN – […] “We want to ensure that doctors have the ability to prescribe these medicines,” she said. “We also want to make sure that the people who have prescriptions that predated COVID-19 have access to the medication they need. And so all of the work that we’ve done is trying to strike that balance.”

In its approval letter, the FDA wrote that “[b]ased on the totality of scientific evidence available to FDA, it is reasonable to believe that chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate may be effective in treating COVID-19.”

“When used under the conditions described in this authorization, the known and potential benefits of chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate when used to treat COVID-19 outweigh the known and potential risks of such products,” FDA Chief Scientist Denise M. Hinton wrote in the approval letter. (more)

FBI Busts Brooklyn Man With “Stash” of 80,000 of N95 Masks….

I’m not exactly sure what the federal violation is considering the man was selling the face masks; but the FBI determined he was ‘hoarding’ his supply, and arrested him for price gouging. The FBI confiscated 80,000 face masks from his “stash” of supplies.

New York – Baruch Feldheim, 43, is facing charges of assault and making false statements to the feds on Sunday outside his Borough Park home where he allegedly peddled and stored massive amounts of N95 respirator masks, federal officials said.

Feldheim is also accused of price-gouging. On March 18, he’s suspected of selling a New Jersey doctor about 1,000 of the masks for $12,000, a markup of roughly 700 percent, authorities said.

[…] Two days later, the suspected hoarder received a gigantic shipment at his home of about eight pallets of face masks.

FBI agents then staked out his house, first noticing empty boxes of N95 masks outside.

On Sunday, they said they witnessed “multiple instances” of people approaching Feldheim’s residence and walking away with what appeared to be medical supplies.

[…] Following Feldheim’s arrest, the FBI on Monday night raided a warehouse on Pennsylvania Avenue in an industrial section of Linden, NJ, that housed Feldhim’s suspected stash of 80,000 masks, a source said. (more)

He was charged with “assault” for not covering his mouth when he coughed.  That’s interesting.  Additionally, assuming he legally ordered and received the face masks, I wonder what price or markup would have been ok with the feds?
