Earlier today Steve Bannon was sentenced to four months in jail for refusing to appear and be questioned by the congressional J6 committee. However, Judge Carl Nichols has temporarily deferred the sentence pending an appeal by Bannon which will likely go into next year.
More than half the country holds contempt for congress, and the targeting of Bannon is transparently political. A defiant Steve Bannon spoke outside the courthouse after his sentence was delivered. WATCH (prompted):
WASHINGTON DC – A federal judge has sentenced longtime Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon to four months in jail for defying a subpoena from lawmakers investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. He will also be required to pay a $6,500 fine if his convictions stand.
U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, said Bannon inappropriately defied the House’s select committee on a matter of significant national interest, and even after roadblocks to his testimony had been removed.
“Flaunting a Congressional subpoena betrays a lack of respect for the legislative branch which represents the will of the people of the United States,” Nichols said during a sentencing hearing at the federal courthouse a few blocks from the Capitol. “In my view, Mr. Bannon has not taken responsibility for his actions.”
Nichols cushioned the blow of the four-month jail term by opting to allow Bannon, 68, to remain free pending appeal, which is likely to push the issue well into next year and perhaps longer.
A jury convicted Bannon in July on two charges of contempt of Congress — one for refusing to testify to the Jan. 6 select committee, another for refusing to provide relevant documents to the panel.
The select committee subpoenaed Bannon in September 2021 as it sought testimony from close Trump aides involved in efforts to help him subvert the 2020 election. Prosecutors charged him in November 2021, three weeks after the House voted to hold him in contempt.
[…] Under federal law, the two misdemeanor counts Bannon was found guilty of each carried a minimum term of one month’s incarceration and a maximum of a year in prison. The Justice Department had asked Nichols to sentence Bannon to a six-month prison term. Prosecutors contended that the minimum sentence is mandatory, but Bannon’s lawyers argued that he could be sentenced to probation or to home confinement, rather than prison.
Nichols said several favors weighed in favor of a “substantial” sentence for Bannon — from the seriousness and significance of the Jan. 6 select committee probe to Bannon’s continued defiance of the select committee even after Trump purported in July to “waive” any assertion of executive privilege over his cooperation.
While many legal commentators have insisted that Bannon could not have had privileged conversations with Trump after Bannon left the White House staff in 2017, Nichols pointedly said Friday that such discussions might be covered by executive privilege.
However, the judge also seemed troubled that Bannon never produced any documents to the committee, even those that seemed certain not to be covered by any privilege Trump was asserting.
Nichols did acknowledge that Bannon appeared to rely on his lawyer’s advice, and he noted that the Jan. 6 select committee opted against a civil lawsuit to enforce its subpoena. (read more)

While appearing with Neil Cavuto to discuss the 2024 election and other matters, Jeb Bush stated Florida Governor Ron DeSantis “will be a formidable candidate in 2024.” {Direct Rumble Link}
Jeb!, the failed 2016 GOPe club insider, is famous for representing the more acceptable side of the Republican party apparatus, and like former House Speaker Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush has high praise for the Florida governor describing himself as a “Ron DeSantis fan.”
Bush told Cavuto in the interview Thursday that if DeSantis runs, “he will be a competitive contender for a number of reasons.” Adding, “the main reason I support Ron DeSantis is because of how well he has run my own state. He has done a great job as governor.” WATCH:
.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues to assemble a considerable amount of support from the institutional political class within the GOP. Combined with a $200+ million war chest from major professional donors including several Wall Street multinationals, billionaires and hedge fund managers, the enticement to run must be very alluring.
As previously noted, the network, branding consultants and conscripted media support -including Fox News- are all in place. Will the DeSantis decision be a redo of Ted Cruz’s self-destructive 2016 RNC convention speech decision? Or is DeSantis smart enough to push the professional beltway advisors back and retain an independent ability to control his own political future?

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is an articulate and impressive candidate specifically because she holds two key traits needed for success.
First, Mrs. Lake has specific frameworks of governing policy that she outlines for the most significant challenges the state faces. Second, because she believes the message she is sharing – she is not fake, she’s authentic.
Kari Lake is not fearful because she is stronger than the weak arguments put in front of her by her opposition. Lake is a formidable force because she speaks the commonsense truths with great affirmation and forcefulness. Neither her opponent, nor the media who are aligned against her, can succeed because Kari Lake stands boldly with the truth.
Last night Fox News host Tucker Carlson noted the impressive stature of Mrs. Lake and pondered why other republican candidates are not following her example. {Direct Rumble Link} – WATCH:
“Donald Trump is still the most popular politician in America. Despite the best efforts of a Deep State–supporting, fake news–peddling, globalist-puppeteering Axis of Evil dedicated to his disposal, President Trump still stands.
That any man could be so continuously pummeled by the corrupt efforts of America’s criminal (in)justice system, sociopathic officeholders, shady spies for hire, and propaganda-spewing press and yet rise with such vim and vigor is a sight to see! Courage and resilience in the face of unrelenting torment and scorn tend to galvanize those witnessing the bloody spectacle to the sufferer’s cause. To remain undefeated while the torturers’ whipping arms become weak and weary inspires legions to remain undefeated, too.
How do great and powerful systems come toppling down? When one man stands fearlessly before the rot and rancidness with a giant mirror and says, “Look at what you’ve become.” (Continue Reading)

The Harvard-Harris polling group is a left leaning media narrative engineering effort. So, when Harvard-Harris releases a poll [DATA HERE] showing Donald Trump as the most favored politician in the U.S. a few weeks before the midterm elections…. You know the background for democrats is substantially worse.

After CNN’s Dana Bash failed in her effort to make Arizona Republican Candidate Kari Lake look bad in an interview, Lake’s opponent Katie Hobbs came on the broadcast. The difference between professional Kari Lake and the up-talking nonsense of Katie Hobbs is stark.
This is the first time I have watched Ms. Hobbs during a broadcast election interview, and it does not come as a surprise to see CNN not upload the outcome onto their YouTube channel for additional attention and replay. Hobbs is a complete ideological idiot, and I don’t say that lightly. How this woman is even being considered to become a governor is beyond my comprehension. Seriously, WATCH:
,
Who in their right mind would consider this a qualified candidate for governor? Good grief, the only example this compares to is that 2007 Ms. Teen USA nonsense. Hobbs even sounds like her. Yikes.

John King’s ex wife on CNN, narrative engineer Dana Bash, was well prepared to target Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake on Sunday. However, with a solid foundation grounded in pragmatic common sense, Mrs Lake eviscerated the effort of Ms. Bash. Kari Lake continues to impress.
Dana Bash began the interview with a constructed strawman argument about how Kari Lake as governor would address the Joe Biden inflation crisis. Kari Lake swatted the issue away with a strong policy position to eliminate state rental tax and taxes on groceries in Arizona. Bash didn’t expect it, and never quite recovered. WATCH:

It seems that “voting with your feet” (this time electronically) still works. PayPal, which had announced new “legal agreements” earlier this month, is backing down.
JUST IN – PayPal spox on $2,500 fine: "An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy… We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused."
The new agreement, which would have taken effect in early November, attempted to control free speech by its clients. It has since been removed from the PayPal website, but as reported by The Daily Wire:
A new policy update from PayPal will permit the firm to sanction users who advance purported “misinformation” or present risks to user “wellbeing” with fines of up to $2,500 per offense.
The financial services company, which has repeatedly deplatformed organizations and individual commentators for their political views, will expand its “existing list of prohibited activities” on November 3. Among the changes are prohibitions on “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” that “promote misinformation” or “present a risk to user safety or wellbeing.” Users are also barred from “the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory.”
As the contents of the new legal agreement because widely known, droves of PayPal customers began to withdraw their funds and close their accounts. One example:
My opinion? Find another service provider. PayPal may have been the big dog in the market, but they aren’t the only one, and who knows what they will try next. I don’t know anything about this particular company, but here is one of the companies advertising their services:
PayPal showed us their true colors. They will steal your money if you disagree with them.
