The China Syndrome Timeline

Conspiracy theories about the pandemic are now being bandied about regularly. And debunked before the conspiracy theories have arrived.

The desperate, abused public, is starved for accurate information. It has no recourse but to indulge in any flight of fancy.

What we don’t hear about are the conspiracies. At least the ones that really matter. These are what the media-political cabal allied with the Democrats, the Chinese, and Joe Biden, don’t want you to hear. What the Democrat’s wholly-owned media and tech big business, Google and Huawei, don’t want you to find out about, is the insurance policy. There’s always an insurance policy. And there always is someone who will cash it and cash in on it.

Meaning, business good for China, the Obamas, Clintons and the Bidens, and a list of other Swamp Creatures on the take as they continue to sell out America.

Meanwhile, April 26th, China discharged its last COVID-19 patient.  So they say.

The Chinese infected the globe, arguably deliberately, and crushed the global economy

The communist state kept most infections to a small area around Wuhan. It kept secret the virus’ spread from the World Health Organization and from the United States, destroyed its samples (evidence), as the WHO covered up for China’s malevolence. Then China sent five million tourists from the Wuhan area around the world.

The Chinese infected the globe, arguably deliberately, and crushed the global economy. The target was not the world. Not the world’s economy. It was one nation’s economy and one nation’s leader. And the weapons could not be controlled once launched. Except in China.

Deliberate? Only one nation in the entire world is profiting from the war it unilaterally waged.

As you read this, China has wiped its hands clean and is walking away from it all.

Beijing, China’s political and cultural center, and Shanghai, China’s commercial and economic center, were left largely uninfected.

It begs the questions:

  • Can a bioweapon not admittedly designed as one become a bioweapon anyway when used as one?
  • Are viruses designed as bioweapons, to be used with deniability, and possibly, with an antidote?
  • Was there an antidote developed along with the bioweapon, a usual procedure for toxins, whereas just as the world got infected, China reduced and then eliminated the infection on its own soil?
  • Why did the legacy media come out in full force with a priori debunking of the bioweapon narrative before any information or investigation came in on the possible application and use of it?
  • Has China infiltrated our leftwing media and the DNC to do just that?
  • Is it possible to argue convincingly that Wuhan is closer to New York than Wuhan is to Beijing?

How The Media Is Colluding, Coordinating and Conspiring With China

THE TIMELINE

1. December 2019: NETFLIX board members Obama and Michelle released PANDEMIC.

2. December 2019: Trump forced China’s to sign the Trade Deal ending China’s economic advantages over trade imbalances. Ending the one-sided trillions of America’s wealth moving to China over the years and   too, not moving back. Trump said to the man and his party who said “it’s never coming back”:

ESCAPE CLAUSE

2a. December 2019 a few days after the handshake, China reneges, and holds up the deal. China includes a last minute ESCAPE CLAUSE (not verbatim):

“This Agreement may be delayed, or nullified and voided, in case of Public Unrest, Acts of G-d, or “Pandemic”…”
3. Late December 2019 the first case of the virus in Wuhan was reported.

4. China was well-aware that their friend, PERSON A, was running for the presidency against their enemy, PERSON B. China was aware PERSON A represented Business as Usual, aka, The Swamp, and PERSON B represented No More Business as Usual. China takes out an insurance policy.

5. China was well-aware that PERSON B did exactly what he said he would do two decades ago. And again having said the same in 2015 and mid 2016. China was aware PERSON B was ahead of the curve as a candidate in understanding The Syndrome. They knew PERSON C, now in the film business about pandemics, earlier sold off America’s pandemic materials, that PERSON D amassed to protect the nation from The Syndrome promoted by PERSON A and PERSON C.

6. China was well-aware of the legacy global media’s, academe’s, and the weaponized DEEP STATE‘s obsessive hostility to PERSON B and the American People. Hatred enough to make the Party of Tolerance collude, coordinate and conspire, to initiate an ongoing coup against PERSON B and the People of the United States. Clearly, Big Money is behind it all. The yammering noisemakers the average American hears all day are simply the clueless lemmings and snowflakes incited by the elite’s propaganda ministry—the arm of the Democrat Party we know as the media.

7. PERSON A had set aside money from China over the years, tens, maybe hundreds of millions, into accounts across Europe, well washed, bleached, and laundered through the Ukraine. PERSON A had to be protected from the inquiring minds of PERSON B, his Team Giuliani, FOX NEWS, BREITBART, Canada Free Press, and one deplorable Devin Nunes. There folks, we have just unpacked the Ukraine Saga and the fraudulent Impeachment for you.

8. PERSON A was never a threat to China. Rather, he was China’s Point Man in the USA tasked with executing China’s Agenda. PERSON B was always a threat that will have slowed down America’s enemies and stopped them in their tracks. To China, PERSON B was unacceptable on every level.
9. The timing had to be just right, the year before the election, for PERSON B’s economy will have re-elected him for certain. The media and the Democrat Party understood this too well, for they too, Joe Biden & Co, and the Chinese, all read the Art of War the Chinese wrote. They understood the proverb, “The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend.”

That proverb came from “The Art of War, written by Sun Tsu. The last we looked, Tsu was Chinese by his own admission.

Sun Tsu was born in China in 544 B.C. The Art of War never changed, no more than The Art of the Deal.

10. China chose right now, to cash in its insurance policy, to get PERSON A elected, and PERSON B, its enemy, defeated.

It chose Wuhan to cash in its policy from its paid-in premiums over years to Democrat and Republican alike, and is now patiently awaiting the payout in hundreds of trillions of yuans.

In China, these yuans add up to all smiles.

Most of the media were too busy covering the phony Russia-gate story to notice how China has been directly involved in controversial coronavirus research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Since the media ignored the threat, they are now charging President Trump with ignoring the threat and peddling “conspiracy theories” about it. This is how the fake news media deceive the American people on a matter of life and death.

Evidence shows that the Trump Administration for at least two years has been urging the FBI and the NIH to crack down on Chinese exploitation and theft of sensitive U.S. Government research.

A Harvard biochemist who claimed backing from the NIH has already been charged in a scheme to benefit China.

True to form, our media have treated news of a suspension of NIH funds to the EcoHealth Alliance, an American group working with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as a “conspiracy theory” led by President Trump. Since news about the suspension of funds was leaked to Matthew Boyle of Breitbart News, a series of stories alleging this is all a “conspiracy theory” involving Trump have appeared in the following left-wing publications: Politico, New York Magazine, Business Insider, Talking Points Memo,  and Raw Story.

This is how reporters justify (to themselves) ignoring the scandal that was developing right under their noses. They would rather run interference for the Chinese regime than inform the American people about controversial research that may have spawned the Chinese release of the coronavirus.

In the middle of this scandal is NIH director Dr. Francis Collins, an Obama holdover who publicly affirms his Christian faith but has a long history of collaborating with the communist Chinese regime.

This is what the media really fear – disclosure of evidence that the Chinese conducted dangerous virus experiments with the help of the Obama Administration.

Here’s the background: Collins had served as an advisor on healthcare to Barack Hussein Obama during his 2008 campaign and on his transition team. After he was appointed by Obama as NIH Director in 2009, he began the process of deep cooperation with China, This led to the  U.S.-China Program for Biomedical Research, which provided financial awards for U.S. and Chinese “collaborating investigators” and sent millions of dollars  through the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), whose director is Dr. Anthony S. Fauci.

Collins appears in a 2010 report that includes a photograph with Professor Chen Yiyu, President of the National Science Foundation of China, signing a memorandum of understanding for joint medical research involving diseases “severely threatening mankind’s lives.” Another story and photo showed Collins exchanging gifts with Chinese Minister of Health Chen Zhu during a visit to Beijing, saying they worked “to strengthen the already robust research collaborations between the two countries” and “promote innovation and strategic medical research.”

On October 14, 2010, Collins and a delegation paid a visit to Peking University (PKU) Health Science Center, as a story indicates that the participants expressed a hope for “a more extensive partnership on scientific research, academic exchange, and personnel training in future…”

Collins had been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Science for leading the Human Genome Project, whose purpose was to understand DNA in order to fight disease. That veered out of control when the Chinese component spawned genetically-engineered babies.

His continued directorship of the NIH came into doubt after Donald J. Trump was elected president. Pro-life groups such as the Charlotte Lozier Institute attacked Collins for his “support of human embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and the creation of ethically-questionable human-animal chimeras.”

More than 40 conservative Republicans wrote to the president in May 2017 urging him to fire Collins because of his support for human embryonic stem cell research.

Nevertheless, Collins was retained as NIH Director at the urging of Senator Roy Blunt and other “moderate” GOP members of the Senate and House. That was a big mistake. Collins’ ongoing relationship with the Chinese medical and scientific establishment finally got him into trouble in 2019 when Blunt arranged an April 11 Senate hearing on oversight of the NIH budget.

At the hearing, Blunt described a Chinese government program to recruit National Institutes of Health-funded researchers, in order to “steal intellectual property” and “establish shadow laboratories in China,” and to “help the Chinese government obtain confidential information about NIH research grants.” He referred to how China’s Thousand Talents Plan (TTP), a program controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, was threatening “the integrity of the NIH system.”

Meanwhile, a subcommittee of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee held a hearingon November 19, 2019. Senator Rob Portman revealed the problem was so serious that “…we learned that Thousand Talents Plan members worked at National Labs on sensitive research and maintained security clearances.”

In fact, the Senate subcommittee released a report, Threats to the U.S. Research Enterprise: China’s Talent Recruitment Plans, which said, “NIH has attempted to address the threats presented by foreign talent recruitment plans like the TTP, but significant gaps in grant integrity efforts remain unaddressed. These gaps have made it difficult for NIH to engage in proactive efforts to prevent foreign exploitation of U.S.-funded research.”

On January 20, 2020, as the coronavirus was spreading inside the United States, the Department of Justice announced that a Harvard University professor and two Chinese nationals had been charged with crimes in several “China-related cases.” Dr. Charles Lieber, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, was described as a contractual participant in China’s Thousand Talents Plan between 2012 and 2017. But the complaint says Lieber lied to federal investigators about his involvement with the Thousand Talents Plan.

Lieber’s “sponsors,” as identified on his web site, include the National Institutes of Health, the Office of Naval Research, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency, and MITRE, a think tank.

 

 

Released accidentally or intentionally, the virus has destroyed millions of lives and our economy

As the Trump Administration was trying to get Collins to pay more attention to the problem, he acknowledged under questioning by Senator Blunt at the April 2019 Senate hearing that there were “egregious instances where our funding of grants in this country is being taken advantage of by individuals who are not following the appropriate rules.” He said the FBI was investigating “vigorously” and that some of the information about the problem was classified.

Collins told Blunt that investigations of NIH-funded foreign scientists were ongoing at more than 55 U.S. institutions. (see the  video of the hearing and the Collins testimony at the 40 minute and 59 seconds mark). In a letter, he said “This kind of inappropriate influence is not limited to biomedical research; it has been a significant issue for defense and energy research for some time.”

It looks like a classic case of Americans supplying the rope the communists needed to hang us. Whether it was released accidentally or intentionally, the rope in this case was a virus that destroyed millions of lives and our economy.

Some think that the astounding reduction in freedom and jobs is an intentional attempt by the “socialists in all parties” to bury us all in a Communist plot. Of course, the quote is from Hayek’s The Road to Serfdomwhereby control freaks intend to command everything from the cradle to the grave. History suggests this hysteria is more opportunistic than calculated. And is a byproduct of the always threatening Communist ambition to create the perfect society. Being omniscient and omnipotent Beijing could not allow a pandemic to occur and the result has been an unprecedented global collapse in business and freedom. The two vanished together and the good news is that both can come back. Freedom first.

“That which is not compulsory is prohibited”

Also, the spreading condemnation of government intrusion may be offensive to Liberals in Canada and Democrats in America. Fortunately for perspective, physics provides a practical definition of an authoritarian system “That which is not compulsory is prohibited”. This elegantly covers everything from the Kremlin to Ottawa and from DC to school boards.

In all political jurisdictions fear has been employed. A generic fear is that without central planners “bad things” will happen. So far as can be told, Stephen King has not published a novel or short story by that name. Original backers of the Federal Reserve System boasted that it could prevent recessions. Since its inception in 1913, there have been 18 recessions and “19” is staring us in the face. Which will be the only one forced by policymakers.

In the early 1970s, a “bad thing” was “Climate Cooling”, but over the past 30 years policy hysteria has been focused upon “Global Warming”.

Of course, today’s most urgent of all “bad things” is the Wuhan Flu, which initially unleashed draconian controls that only Communists can impose. Regrettably, the rest of the world followed, each its own way. Essentially, the whole of the US, including “Flyover Country” has been shut down because New York City is unusually susceptible to yet another respiratory disease. And Gotham is administered by Democrats, who will use any excuse to impose control.

Indeed, recently The Diplomat headlined “Did Xi Jinping Deliberately Sicken the World?”. The article published on April 15th discussed both sides. And then there has been the obsequious support of the ChiComs by the World Health Organization (WHO). Essentially touting the Communist Party line. And President Trump has “two experts” advising him. On the 26th, YouTube announced it would “remove any content that goes against WHO recommendations.”

And for Beijing it started by denying there was a health problem in Wuhan. That was in December when the story and concerns by local medical doctors were squelched. One explanation was that China wanted to conclude the trade agreement with the US, before revealing a serious problem. The other is the tradition of denying “bad things”.

This was the case with a deadly earthquake in January 1970 when in the midst of the Cultural Revolution the news of the disaster was covered up (Irish Times, January 8, 2000). The death toll was some 15,000 and downplaying of the disaster went along with a few years of Beijing denying a famine that killed 20 million.

So, in the face of natural disaster Beijing’s mode has been to deny and cover up. Today’s coverup included that SARS-CoV-2 was not transmitted from human to human. Then in a rush, likely in the interests of perfection, locked down Wuhan as well as 15 other cities. Amounting to control over some 57 million people, and draconian measures were introduced by “panicked” statists in many countries.

As they have occurred in important financial centers there is only one example of financial distress directly due to disease. That was in London in the summer of 1665 when the bubonic plague killed 100,000 or a quarter of London’s population. For over 18 months it was devastating as shipping and afflicted houses were quarantined.

There were popular protests as business collapsed. London was the most severely hit and diarist Samuel Pepys recorded in September “Lord! How empty the streets are.” However, rumors went around that no tobacconist ever got the plague.

Fortunately, London got back to business. In March 1666, the Lord Chancellor stated ”… the streets were as full, the Exchange as much crowded, the people in all places as numerous as they have ever been…” (James Leasor, The Plague and the Fire, 1962).

Now that was in the face of the Black Death. Today’s hysteria about the SARS-CoV-2 flu has been a deliberate promotion by ambitious control freaks. The Green New Deal plans to end airline and private car traffic and fortunately ordinary folk are beginning to see that this form of utopia is impractical.

Which could be the case with the promotion that a committee can “manage” the temperature of the nearest planet.

The Fed legend about preventing financial “bad things” happening anywhere is losing credibility.

In-your-face and in-your-wallet government is being more widely seen as too much intrusion. And with such rank promotions becoming so obvious, popular movements could eventually accomplish another great reformation. The first step would be the freedom to work and play, not to overlook freedom of assembly.

How Could Socrates Forecast Food Shortages in the Cycle Years in Advance?

QUESTION: Marty; You were the only one to forecast this would be a commodity cycle driven by shortages. How can your computer forecast such things like this shortage years in advance? They are warning we will face serious meat shortages when Bill Gates was investing in meat substitutes. This is falling within his whole scheme of climate change just using the virus instead of Greta.

ANSWER: I am not entirely sure. Yes, it is true that Bill Gates and Leonardo DiCaprio joined forces, not just in climate change, but in promoting meat substitutes because cattle eat grass and emit CO2. It will take more time to analyze how Socrates put this all together. What I can say is that it was able to forecast wars, because those who knew a war was about to begin moved money in advance. The computer would pick up the shifts, but it could not say who was moving the money or why. After watching the pattern repeatedly, it became clear they would move capital ahead of such events. Obviously, if there was the likelihood of war between China and the USA, China would seek all US debt in advance.

I know for a fact that there were select individuals who sold all stocks and bonds in January. I also know it was ahead of the news and it was because of the virus. Therefore, advanced knowledge existed. That does not mean the virus was planted. I also believe based upon evidence that the virus existed during the previous flu season. To sell stocks and bonds and move to cash implies knowledge that debt would have to be expanded dramatically, so you certainly do not want government debt.

Socrates had forecast this cycle would be the commodity cycle built on the rise in prices due to shortages rather than an economic boom. I will run studies to try to determine how it made that forecast in its entirety. Collectively, monitoring everything in the world, Socrates sees things that humans simply cannot put together in their minds for there are too many variables. Additionally, 2015.75 was the peak in government and the start of Big Bang in the debate crisis that will take us into 2028, after which debt may simply no longer exist. It projected the War Cycle would begin turning up in 2014, which was also the combined forces of both civil unrest and international conflict. It also had forecast that someone like Trump would win in 2016, and the risk that the Democratic Party would split between radical Socialists and more conservative middle of the road Democrats.

In other words, it was projecting across many models that from 2014 heading into 2032 that the world we were entering would be nothing like it once was. There have been groups like the goldbugs who have preached the collapse of the dollar and hyperinflation since 1971. Being wrong in that score for 60 years does not bode well for timing. It is also why they have been largely ignored and seen as wearing tinfoil hats. Getting the timing right is a critical factor for people who have long assumed an increase in the supply of money must decline its value. They never understood the difference between the currency of the dominant empire and that of a peripheral economy.

This Corona Pandemic is clearly being orchestrated insofar as the worse possible outcome will be the result. There are practical solutions and even here we are finding some hospitals are directed not to provide the malaria drugs simply because they were recommended by Trump. There are many doctors coming out and they are being retaliated against. People are being put on ventilators simply so they do not spread the disease and this is leading to death. My first son died. He was premature and they put him on a ventilator which exploded his lungs. This girl is clearly a nurse for she is using common medical terms that the average person does not know and she does not know how to communicate those terms to the average person.

Coronavirus Tourism in Sweden

Sweden is actually starting to benefit from the coronavirus lockdown in Europe. The restaurants are starting to fill as are hostels with Europeans traveling to Sweden just to be free to go to the spa, out to dinner, and try to enjoy life as normal. Sweden is experiencing what we may call Coronavirus Tourism. Sweden may begin to see its economy actually grow as tourism to Southern Europe will offer no alternative this year.

Even when we look at that currency from the ECB website, it reveals that the euro has been crashing against Sweden. So the refusal to lockdown in Sweden has not only proven that there was no material difference in stopping the virus, which is impossible, but it has contrasted the economy and shown it may be the only one to survive 2020.

CEO of Youtube Susan Wojcicki Vows to Remove Anything that Contradicts the WHO

YouTube has removed the video of the two California Doctors demonstrating the level of censorship surrounding this virus has reached Stalinistic levels. We have learned that YouTube is part of the conspiracy against the people so we make copies because of this censorship design to suppress the truth and support FAKE NEWS. Previously, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki told CNN that the company would ban any video content that contradicted World Health Organization recommendations. Wojcicki is supporting Bill Gates & the WHO against the people and preventing our American right to freedom of speech. She obviously supports Stalinistic censorship. She has no right to violate the civil rights of all Americans and since the WHO is a quasi-governmental organization, she is now involved in what can be criminal activity in violation of the Civil Rights Act.

As I have said, nobody removes videos about alien abductions. The ONLY reason to remove this is to prevent the truth – not to remove fake news for that is what Wojcicki supports by removing dissent which is part of the basic rights in a free society under Democracy.

As the nation begins to open back up, many are optimistic that the markets will turn back to normal. While numerous cities adopt a phased approach to gatherings that people assume will allow businesses to reopen but with restricted attendee limits, they are not looking closely at the details. Many people who applied for unemployment 6 weeks ago are being denied. There are lawyers already starting to crank up class-action lawsuits because of the haphazard approach to unemployment when people qualify but have been denied.

Many from Italy has assumed that their government has implemented our recommendation of suspending rents and mortgage payments after readers sub, fitted out letters to Trump. Whether or not that was the moving force I cannot say. But Italy is one of the few to take that realization that you cannot terminate income without also terminating their expenses. However, Italy had also another incentive to adopt our proposal. The failure to suspend mortgage payments would have cause massive bank failures if they had to declare even more nonperforming loans.

While many are rushing to do videos to tell you what to do based upon their personal opinion, I advise caution. The one recommendation that I can make is to exit government debt in Europe and in the USA stay very short-term in Federal T-Bills – no state or local debt PERIOD!

Even the stock market has seen a major shift. Dividends are being cut and most have suspended buying back shares and major companies regroup and begin to hoard cash for a rainy day. This is not over yet and it is more likely to get worse before it becomes only a memory. The biggest danger we face is that politics have become so toxic that we do not expect government to get anything right. During 9/11, the country came together. All we see now is hatred and the Democrats are more occupied with trying to win in November rather than do what is best for the nation or the people. Politics has superseded good government.

I seriously doubt that anyone can possibly offer advice based upon simple opinion in these unprecedented times. Socrates has done an outstanding job right down to forecasting this new cycle which began January 18th, 2020, would be a commodity wave led by SHORTAGES. There are trends unfolding that need to be monitored and addressed that no human can even contemplate because there are way too many variables to consider and humans naturally try to reduce everything to a single cause and effect.

We will look at providing an update report ASAP on this Corona Crisis so you have a better idea of the overall impact. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel. This will most likely unfold is the major shift in confidence from the public to private sectors. We are entering into the end of this cycle into 2032 and I have previously warned that this is the Decline & Fall of Democracy with the Rise in Authoritarianism. This is clearly marked by the massive attempt of Bill Gates to inject his Climate Change desires upon all of the world. He dropped out of college, is not a doctor, and certainly is not a climate scientist nor an economist. And we tell kids to get a degree or you will never get a job! Just run for the ruler of the world – no degree necessary.

Sometimes a special message needs a special messenger.  Today, amid the anxiety and stress created by the coronavirus pandemic, a very special messenger named Michael visited the White House and delivered a very important message to everyone:

…”At Bitty and Beaus we like to use the phrase ‘not broken’. That means me and all my important co-workers are not broken, and we have lots to offer. I know the great country of the United States isn’t broken either.”…   ~ Michael

President Trump May Use Defense Production Act For U.S. Food Supply Chain…

There is a tremendous amount of information and misinformation surrounding the current status of protein processing within the meat industry. Most of the misinformation comes from many people not understanding the total food supply-chain and how it works.

First, there is no shortage of meat protein products: beef, pork and chicken at the farm level. However, the problems arise within processing, manufacturing and more importantly binding legal contracts and liabilities within the supply-chain. Additionally, there are national and multinational aspects to the protein food supply.

Today President Trump remarked the White House and Dept of Agriculture are drawing up a plan for the president to invoke the defense production act as a tool to cut through some of the liabilities present within the supply-chain dynamic. Let’s use cattle to explain.

Because beef is a “graded” commodity, there are contracts for purchase within the supply chain. USDA Prime, USDA Choice and USDA Select are three well known grades of beef. However, there are eight grades total: prime, choice, select, standard, commercial, utility, cutter and canner.

Within the total food supply there are contracts for exclusive product purchasing in both the commercial and consumer side of the food supply.  Additionally, the commercial side breaks down into ‘food-away-from-home’ (ie. restaurants), and manufactured food.

Large wholesale companies may contract with hotels, restaurants and other commercial entities to supply specific types of graded beef. High end restaurants, higher priced outlets, may demand only “prime” or “choice” cuts. Big chain restaurants may have a different contract for a different grade, perhaps “select” and/or “standard”.

Additionally, retail consumer outlets (supermarkets etc.) may also enter exclusive purchase agreements (or work through wholesalers) for their preferred grades based on their brand image and targeted market. Whole Foods may only want to sell “prime/choice”, whereas WalMart, due to price and volume, may contract for “select/standard.”

Meanwhile food manufacturers who make processed foods like soups, frozen dinners etc. may use “commercial or utility” grades; while pet food processors may use “canner” grades.

So you’ve got: (1) restaurants (high, med and low), Hotels (high, med, low), and other food-away-from-home venues; and (2) manufacturing/processing both in the commercial laneof the protien food supply.  Then we have (3) supermarkets (high, med, low), butchers, and other food-at-home providers in the consumer lane of the protein food supply.

Because the product is a limited supply commodity; and because each of the end-users needs a consistent supply; each of these outlets has different purchase contracts based on their individual need.  Many of these legally binding contracts are exclusive contracts with “first right of refusal” clauses to ensure their supply.

With the food supply chain completely disrupted all of those purchase agreements are now a complete mess.  Half of the commercial side is not working (restaurants); half of the commercial side needs more (manufacturing); and the consumer side (grocers) have an exploded demand.

U.S. farmers producing high-end cattle, top quality beef, have lost much of their market and cannot sell (restaurant/commercial lane closed).

Food processors of protein derivatives (soups, canners, frozen foods manufacturers, pet food manufacturers), specifically focused on the lower-price/grade-range of the commodity, need more and have legally binding contracts with foreign beef producers due to a lack of domestic supply (normal circumstances) for the grades they normally purchase.  Much of that type of industrial beef, pork and chicken goes into bulk frozen storage warehouses.

As a result U.S. farmers have excess high-end beef, but U.S. food manufacturers are contractually obligated, and financially dependent upon, low-end often imported beef.

Meanwhile consumer outlets like grocery stores have domestic purchase contracts, some with exclusive purchase agreements, that do not permit wholesalers to quickly add-on new suppliers without legal approvals.

On top of all that complexity, we have beef slaughter houses and processing facilities that are struggling with COVID-19 compliance issues; and the potential for employment liability due to their infrastructure not aligning with workplace directives around “social distancing” etc.

These types of food-supply workplaces cannot easily be modified AND they are designed for maximum productivity and efficiency.  Food security is national security. Ergo, the defense production act, and the extreme sensitivity around the food supply, can benefit these food processing stations by providing exemptions from the COVID-19 rules.

Additionally, the invocation of the DPA can, likely will, allow farmers who are contracted to specific suppliers, to legally break the contract and sell their supply into any market that will purchase their products.

Lastly, the DPA may -more tenuous application- allow purchasers to break contracts with multinationals and avoid being forced to import a product while there is a domestic abundance.  That multinational part gets a little tricky…

The food supply chain is a very complex dynamic that few really understand; and no-one has ever gamed-out this current situation as it has unfolded.  This is all new to everyone.

Think about this situation:

Prime and Choice beef going into ¹tube meats for grinds?  Yes; it’s possible.

Fancy Angus beef in dog food?  Yes, seems bizarre, but it’s possible.

This is all new folks.  However, the bottom line is don’t worry about the ability to find food; we are a net food exporter as a nation.  There is plenty of food product, we just need to shift it around… and the shifting ain’t as easy as it seems.

¹Most people are unaware that many lean ground meats (various levels of fat) do not come from trim lugs by the butcher any longer.  To ensure consistency and avoid running into issues with human decision-making in a field with lesser skilled labor, most retail markets are now purchasing ‘tube-meat’ to make their lean grinds.  The butcher trim lugs are used for more generic ‘market grinds‘ or family packs.

ADD: After publication of this article the White House provided more detail that provides some further information.  From the DPA Guidance:

SUPPORTING CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE: Closure of meat and poultry processing plants can quickly have an outsized impact on our Nation’s food supply chain.
* Given the high concentration of meat and poultry processors in a relatively small number of large facilities, closure of any of these plants could disrupt our food supply and detrimentally impact our hardworking farmers and ranchers.
* Closure of a single large beef processing plant can result in the loss of over 10 million servings of beef in a single day.
* Similarly, the closure of a single plant can eliminate more than 80 percent of the supply of a particular meat product—like ground beef—to an entire grocery store chain.
* Failure to process livestock could force millions of pounds of meat to disappear from the market, potentially leading to long-term disruptions in our supply chain.
* To combat this crisis and ensure the adequate availability of food for the American people, it is vital that these processors are able to remain operating at this critical moment, while also taking steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their facilities.  (more)
