In January 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a key decision in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.  The decision removed unconstitutional restrictions on the ability to speak freely at election time of grassroots groups like NRA and others. But now, some are trying to reverse the decision–and while they recognize that they must amend the Constitution to do so, their amendment would gut the First Amendment rights of organized political groups as we know them.

The late Sen. Paul Wellstone had said during the original debate over the legislation at issue in Citizens United that it was his intention to silence groups like the NRA. While Wellstone singled out the NRA, this law delivered a clear message to all American citizens: “Keep your mouths shut and stay out of our politics.”

And the reason there are so few “union” jobs is that the federal government shipped them all to China in return for China financing the government by buying the federal debt. The government sold us down the river and the debt holder is now coming to collect.

Many protesters marching near Times Square in New York City today were organized by worker centers, which employ publicists to carefully craft messages and talking points. Fast-food workers are asking for a 100% pay raise.

Americans today will see photos of fast-food worker demonstrations on national news and think the employees themselves are going on strike.

Americans will conclude that the demonstrations are a spontaneous display of employee dissatisfaction with wages. In fact, the strikes are being organized by unions and unelected worker centers that are desperate to attract new members, even at a cost of leaving millions of Americans unemployed.

The Service Employees International Union’s worker center, Fast Food Forward, also known as Fight for 15, is calling the nationwide strike to demand $15-an-hour wages and a union. Most fast-food workers make more than the hourly minimum wage of $7.25.
