No Thanks To a Poop Patrol Career. And The City That Needs It.

Over at Stella’s Place she mentioned the  Poop Patrol in San Francisco. It has salary and benefits worth $184,687. The article from Zero Hedge reveals the following figures.

  • A $72.5 million-a-year street cleaning budget
  • $12 million a year on what essentially have become housekeeping services for homeless encampments
  • $2.8 million for a Hot Spots crew to wash down the camps and remove any biohazards
  • $2.3 million for street steam cleaners
  • $3.1 million for the Pit Stop portable toilets
  • $364,000 for a four-member needle team
  • An additional $700,000 set aside for a 10-member, needle cleanup squad, complete with it’s own minivan

This article, combined with some deragatory comments I saw on Quora a few weeks ago made me reflect a little bit. This is from my comment over at Stella’s.

No joke at all, I’m betting that 180,000 plus dollars in SF would not come close to giving me the standard of living I enjoy in my dot on the map that elites turn their noses up at.

I saw one of those stupid comments from liberals a few weeks ago about the “proof” that we who lived in red states are really lower IQ, hicks, unsophisticated, yada yada, on and on. I have to give it to them, they named off several truths about things we don’t have, including mass transit, availability of goods and services, etc. plus more crap stuff that they made up in their tiny minds.

Here is the thing though. I don’t want a bus to pull up at the end of my driveway. I don’t want a train passing my house. I don’t give two craps about how far away Whole Foods is. I actually do go to plays occasionally, as well as other forms of entertainment both high and low brow. I’m just fine driving a ways to enjoy them. I have been known to drive even a couple of hours to go to a museum. It didn’t kill me.

I really, really don’t give a hoot that there is no college in my town. There are some good ones in all four directions, two of which are only a half hour away. Also, news flash, I could go online and get educated by some top universities. Or I could go online and learn a new language, refresh my calculus skills, learn to play a guitar, or how to knit.

I have what they can never have in their fifth floor apartment on a bustling noise filled street. I have very fresh air, cold and absolutely delicious well water, the likes of which I’ve never tasted anywhere else. I have a bajillion trees surrounding me, every night I see thousands of real stars, not city lights.

I get to see lots of deer, turkey, and we won’t even count the horses, cows, goats, sheep, and ducks and geese that I still find nice to be neighbors with. Sometimes the donkey across the road brays and it always makes me smile. Last year for about three months we had some kind of cat who came around and yowled at night, came through about every three weeks. My favorite thing is watching the hawks fly right through the trees, somehow zigging and zagging and swooping through the woods. I put up with the coons, loathe the squirrels and chipmunks and mice and scorpions, am kind of glad about the possums (tick eaters) and don’t mind snakes and spiders too much.

For every satisfied liberal who really looks down on those of us who choose not to live our lives in the city, I simply can’t think of anything at all I’d want to add to my life. I can go find what they have. I don’t think they can have any of those things, short of mice, spiders, maybe a lost snake or two, that I care about.

I comprehend that they don’t want what I have, and I don’t look down on them for it. They cannot say the same.

And if anyone were to poop on the sidewalks of my little town, I really believe the cops couldn’t get there before someone, maybe even a little old lady, beat the absolute crap out of them. Then there would be God knows how many charges against them, but I guarantee you public indecency would be at the top of the list, and a judge would very likely send them to jail for at least a few weeks.

Upon further reflection, I can say without exaggeration that I believe there would be several citizens who would make sure to be in court to make their outrage heard.

And I really like that too.

Modern Love – Internet – Changing Patterns in Marriage/Divorce

COMMENT: I enjoyed your article on gold and how trends change with the generations. I find it very true that my children looked at me with my silver bars and just asked so what can you really do with it? I have watched the youtube video when people choose the chocolate bar over a bar of silver. Things do change and we should ask if we are judging the world only by own own beliefs rather than trying to see what others think.

Thank you for the food for thought. The world is not always black and white.

REPLY: The Economist just published a piece on how the internet has changed the dating scene among the youth.  How people now meet is almost 70% online. A church is the lowest, primary schools are #2, college #3, bars #4, and introductions among friends #1. How people are meeting has changed and even how marriage has evolved over the centuries is even more interesting from a cyclical perspective. The Economist stated that the first personal advertisement for marriage took place back in 1695. Traditionally, the man was twice the age going into the 19th century because he first had to establish himself and then prove he could support a wife and family. As the industrial revolution began to mature, the age difference declined by the end of the 19th century as men were able to support a family at an earlier age. It was common up until the Great Depression for the man to be 15 years older before he could afford a wife.

It was the birth of Socialism where society was drastically changed. The age difference collapsed nearly the same age as socialism expanded but the divorce rate soared. No longer did the boy have to prove he could afford a wife, government social programs filled the gap. However, not only did Socialism change marriage, it also changed the family structure. No longer did you have several children because that was your retirement. The average family size declined and children no longer saved to take care of their parents. Now we have the internet changing dating but what is really interesting is that the cycle has changed and the age difference is back on the rise. It seems that boys do not become men until at least 10 years after a girl becomes a woman. This difference in maturity is making itself known once again. Younger women are now seeking older men especially in Europe where unemployment among the youth is at 60% in the southern regions.

What does have the women upset is that studies show that men live longer with younger wives who probably keep them more active. Yet, when a woman marries a younger man, the opposite takes place and her life-span declines. Perhaps because she had to take care of a grown child. These studies in themselves have caused a lot of controversies. Perhaps everything is just returning to what it was before socialism. Young women expect boys to be men and thus that has been the challenge post-1930. I can say from my personal experience, my father was 15 years older than my mother. It was nice that after he died in 1983, she was still with us until 2018 with her mind intact.

How We Were Created

   “US” by Paul Genova

(Mr. Paul Genova has been President and Chief Operating Officer of Wireless Telecom Group Inc since June 30, 2016.

I haven’t said too much about this election since the start…but this is how I feel….

I’m noticing that a lot of people aren’t graciously accepting the fact that their candidate lost.

In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those who voted for Trump.  Some are apparently

“triggered” because they are posting how “sick” you feel about the results.

How did this happen you ask? Well here is how it happened!

You created “us” when you attacked our freedom of speech.

You created “us” when you attacked our right to bear arms.

You created “us” when you attacked our Christian beliefs.

You created “us” when you constantly referred to us as racists.

You created “us” when you constantly called us xenophobic.

You created “us” when you told us to get on board or get out of the way.

You created “us” when you attacked our flag

You created “us” when you took God out of our schools.

You created “us” when you confused women’s rights with feminism.

You created “us” when you began to emasculate men.

You created “us” when you decided to make our children soft.

You created “us” when you decided to vote for progressive ideals.

You created “us” when you attacked our way of life.

You created “us” when you decided to let our government get out of control.

You created “us” the silent majority

You created “us” when you began murdering innocent law enforcement officers.

You created “us” when you lied and said we could keep our insurance plans and our doctors

You created “us” when you allowed our jobs to continue to leave our country.

You created “us” when you took a knee, or stayed seated or didn’t remove your hat during our National Anthem.

You created “us” when you forced us to buy health care and then financially penalized us for not participating.

And we became fed up and we pushed back and spoke up.

And we did it with ballots, not bullets.

  With ballots, not riots.

  With ballots, not looting.

  With ballots, not blocking traffic.

With ballots, not fires, except the one you started inside of “us”

  “YOU” created “US”.

It really is just that simple.

Everyone needs to see this. Post and resend.

Suicidal Airline Service Agent Steals Plane, Pulls Stunts, Commits Suicide…

The story of an obviously unstable ground service agent at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is terribly sad. According to most accounts 29-year-old Richard Russell stole a turboprop jet for just under an hour before eventually crashing and killing himself 30 miles away. There were no other passengers on board.

.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this young man; and also especially with the air traffic controller who remained calm and tried his earnest best to save the life of Mr. Russell. A person can well imagine the sadness felt by that Air Traffic Controller.

God our strength and our redeemer: you do not leave us in this life nor abandon us in death. Hear our prayer for those in despair, when days are full of darkness and the future empty of hope. Renew in them your sustaining strength for we believe that there is nothing in all creation that can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen.
