All those corrupt local Puerto Rico officials who have used U.S. disaster response aid to enrich themselves had better watch out. President Trump has just assigned Coast Guard Rear Admiral Peter J. Brown to take charge of all U.S. efforts on the island.
Rear Admiral Brown is an excellent man with a servants heart, but he is also a very deliberate and serious man. And this man knows the island; we have crossed paths….
[White House] President Donald J. Trump has named U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Peter J. Brown of Florida as his Special Representative for Puerto Rico’s Disaster Recovery. In this capacity, Admiral Brown will coordinate United States Government efforts to build the infrastructure and resiliency of Puerto Rico.
The island of Puerto Rico was devastated by Category 4 Hurricane Maria in September 2017, suffering significant loss of life and catastrophic damage to infrastructure. In January 2020, Puerto Rico was struck by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake and hundreds of additional aftershocks and tremors, damaging hundreds of homes and infrastructure.
Multiple Federal agencies continue to respond to the needs of the people of Puerto Rico, and billions of dollars in Federal funding have been allocated responsibly to response and recovery work. Admiral Brown will be the White House coordinator for those ongoing efforts at the national level, in collaboration with other White House components, including the Office of Legislative Affairs, Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and Office of Management and Budget.
In addition, he will work with senior officials in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Congress to ensure that their concerns are communicated to the appropriate departments and agencies and to ensure the resources of hardworking taxpayers are effectively used to help the people of Puerto Rico.
On Wednesday, February 5, Rear Admiral Brown met with Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced, along with Puerto Rico’s Congressional Representative, Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon. Admiral Brown, Governor Vazquez, and Congresswoman Gonzalez-Colon discussed the Administration’s commitment to the people of Puerto Rico and Admiral Brown’s new role to help further Puerto Rico’s ongoing recovery.
Before joining the White House in July 2019 as the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor, Rear Admiral Brown was the Commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District headquartered in Miami, Florida, where he was responsible for all Coast Guard operations in the Southeast United States and the Caribbean Basin.
A career Coast Guard officer with more than 34 years of service, Rear Admiral Brown’s first duty station in the Coast Guard was in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and he has served more than half of his career in the Caribbean. Originally from Somers, New York, Rear Admiral Brown is a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He also earned a Master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Miami and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. (link)

White House trade and manufacturing policy advisor Peter Navarro appears on Fox News to discuss the strong January jobs report of 225,000 gains. Navarro highlights something few pay attention to. The Trump administration not only focuses on the macro policy principles to create the economic environment for job growth, but President Trump also personally engages on specific company, state, and regional efforts.
The engagement of a U.S. president to discuss and influence U.S. jobs on a company by company basis, and get down in the details of deals, is a completely unique political standard in the modern era. President Trump is very uniquely fighting for each job.
.
It is very disappointing to hear vulture capitalist Jeff Bezos having a disinterest in protecting American intellectual property rights, and instead choosing to accept/allow cheap Chinese, knock-off goods as the backbone of his Amazon business model.
National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow appears on Fox Business to discuss the excellent January jobs report. Job gains and wage increases are all going in the right direction…. And Stuart Varney immediately asks: “do we need more immigration”?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) releases the January jobs and labor report and the results are MAGAnificent. 225,000 jobs gained in January; non-supervisory wage growth against exceeds supervisory at 3.2%; and 185,000 workers re-entered the workforce.
The 225,000 new jobs far exceeded expectations. Economists were looking for 160,000. Also the November report was revised up by 5,000 (from +256,000 to +261,000) and the change for December was revised up by 2,000 from (+145,000 to +147,000). With these revisions, employment gains in November and December combined were 7,000 higher than previously reported.
Keep in mind these excellent jobs results are without the domestic investment expected to be produced by the USMCA manufacturing realignment. As goods producing companies start evaluating the new total production costs, the investment shift toward North America will likely keep a tailwind on our economic growth and jobs.
[…] “The second, which is almost as important, but less obvious, is labor force participation is trending higher and because it’s still so far below previous cyclical peaks.
If that continues to go up, because people are being pulled into the workforce, that means that these big jobs gain that a lot of people have been thinking were going to slow are going to continue. They’re going to continue longer relative to whatever your baseline was, i.e., we’re not running out of people because participation is going up, that’s great. That’s great for everybody.”

[Transcript] – THE PRESIDENT: So I just got this; it was just handed to me. This is the D.C. Circuit and we just won the big emoluments case. I think it was a unanimous decision. This was brought by Nancy Pelosi and her group. It just came out a few minutes ago. So I’ll be reading it on the helicopter. But it was a total win. This was brought by 230 Democrats in Congress on emoluments. It was another phony case and we won it three to nothing. We won it unanimously.
Q Mr. President, is Mick Mulvaney going to stay your Chief of Staff or —
THE PRESIDENT: Yeah. Yeah.
Q — are you looking to replace him?
THE PRESIDENT: That was a false report. I have a great relationship with Mick. I have a great relationship with Mark. And it’s false.
Q Mr. President, would you like to see Alexander Vindman out of your White House? Do you want Alexander Vindman out of your —
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I’m not happy with him. Do you think I’m supposed to be happy with him? I’m not.
Q Is he going to leave?
THE PRESIDENT: They’ll make that decision.
Q Will he leave?
THE PRESIDENT: You’ll be hearing —
Q Is he going to leave?
THE PRESIDENT: They’ll make a decision.
Q President Trump, is he on the way out?
THE PRESIDENT: They’re going to be making that decision.
Q Has FISA abuse changed your opinion about Edward Snowden — whether he is a whistleblower or a traitor? Has FISA abuse against your campaign —
THE PRESIDENT: I don’t understand. I can’t hear. You have to speak louder.
Q Has FISA abuse against your campaign changed your opinion about whether Edward Snowden —
THE PRESIDENT: Well, we were abused by the FISA process; there’s no question about it. We were seriously abused by FISA, by what they did, and by what they signed and who signed. It’s a terrible thing that happened. And we were absolutely abused, as per your question. Yeah.
Q Mr. President, your Press Secretary —
Q Mr. President, how bad is it between you and Mick Mulvaney, Mr. President?
Q Your Press — excuse me. Excuse me. Excuse me.
THE PRESIDENT: How’s she doing? All right?
Q Your Press Secretary said your political opponents “should pay.” Who should pay and how will they pay?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, you’ll see. I mean, we’ll see what happens.
Q We haven’t heard from you about your thoughts about Nancy Pelosi ripping up your speech. And will you ever be able to work with her?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I thought it was a terrible thing when she ripped up the speech. First of all, it’s an official document. You’re not allowed — it’s illegal what she did. She broke the law. But I haven’t — I haven’t been asked a question — other than a lot of people that viewed it; they couldn’t believe that she did it. I thought it was terrible. I thought it was very disrespectful to the Chamber, to the country.
And, you know, look, I — people — I got very high marks on the speech. And I didn’t know she did it until I was walking out and some of the congressmen and women were saying, “Can you believe what she did?” But I didn’t know she did it.
Q Are you ever going to be able to really work with her in any constructive way?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think there’s a lot of evil on that side. They’ve gone crazy. They’ve gone totally crazy; it’s too bad. I’ve gotten tremendous amounts done — more than anybody has gotten done in three years, by far. But they’re not constructive people.
Q Will you be able to work with any of the Democrats? Do you see any way to work with them?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I do work with Democrats. I work with everybody. But that group is — you know, they say “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” They’ve got it. They’ve got a bad case of it. You saw that. That was on display the other night when she ripped up the speech. That was terrible. It was a terrible — so disrespectful to our country. And actually very illegal, what she did.
Q Are you getting rid of Mulvaney and Vindman, Mr. President?
THE PRESIDENT: Yeah, I gave the answer. That was a false report.
Q So, manufacturing evidence is a felony crime in all 50 states. Does the administration intend to go after Adam Schiff for his role in the impeachment trial in manufacturing evidence?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I mean, I have to say this: We just came out with fantastic job numbers. I think it was 230,000 or something thereabout, which was much higher than projection. So jobs continue to be great. Our country continues to do great.
I’m now going to North Carolina. Some of you, maybe, are coming. But the jobs report just came out and it’s great.
Q You have been acquitted. Do you still want the Ukrainian President to dig up dirt on your political rivals like Joe Biden?
THE PRESIDENT: No. These people — they’re their own people. I’m not their boss. And I don’t think they’ve done anything, as far as I know. But it’s very sad what happened with the Bidens. And it’s also very sad how he’s doing — how he’s doing in the polls.
Now, I understand the votes are fried in Iowa. They couldn’t even take a simple tabulation, and yet they’re telling you how to run the country and how to run healthcare. I think they fried their votes on computer. Think about it: All the money that the Democrats spent and the votes are fried. They have no idea who won. They have no idea.
But I’ll tell you who won on the Republican side: They accounted for every single vote, and it was a lot of votes. It was a record-setting number of votes: Trump won.
Q Follow-up: Pete Buttigieg — Pete Buttigieg or Bernie Sanders. Pete Buttigieg or Bernie Sanders. Who’s the bigger threat?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, you don’t know what happened in Iowa because, if you look — I mean, they’re essentially tied. But they couldn’t keep tabulation of their votes.
Q Is Pete Buttigieg a threat? Do you see him as a threat? Pete Buttigieg.
THE PRESIDENT: Everybody is a threat. I view everybody as a threat. I even view John as a threat. You never know.
Q Mr. President, a question about China.
THE PRESIDENT: Yeah.
Q Are you concerned that China is covering up the full extent of coronavirus?
THE PRESIDENT: No. China is working very hard. Late last night, I had a very good talk with President Xi, and we talked about — mostly about the coronavirus. They’re working really hard, and I think they are doing a very professional job.
They’re in touch with World — the World — World Organization. CDC also. We’re working together. But World Health is working with them. CDC is working with them. I had a great conversation last night with President Xi. It’s a tough situation. I think they’re doing a very good job.
Q Are you concerned about its potential impact on the global economy?
THE PRESIDENT: I think that China will do a very good job.
Q Should the House expunge your impeachment? Should the House expunge your impeachment in the future? Should they expunge your impeachment?
THE PRESIDENT: They should because it was a hoax. That’s a very good question: “Should they expunge the impeachment in the House?” They should because it was a hoax. It was a total political hoax.
Q Mr. President, how do you unify — how do you unify — Mr. President, how do you unify the country in this moment? You’re attacking your rivals —
THE PRESIDENT: You know what’s going to unify the country — and it’s already unified it in a lot of ways? All you have to do is look at our crowds and look at our support. What unifies it is the great success. Our country today is more successful than it has ever been, and that’s unifying the country.
Devin Nunes discusses attending yesterdays White House remarks by President Trump at the conclusion of the impeachment effort. Representative Nunes notes the DC media are “assassins” united in an effort to target their political opposition.
[…] And a man nobody has ever heard of, except the other side. He’s the other side’s worst nightmare. This guy goes down into dungeons and basements; he’ll find a document, no matter what. He’s the most legitimate human being. He’s the hardest worker. He’s unbelievable. He took tremendous abuse. I mean, abuse.
The — the media and, you know, the other side, and the bad ones, the leakers, the liars, the dirty cops — they wanted to destroy him. They tried. They got close, but he wouldn’t let it happen. And, honestly, in a certain way, he was the first one. Wouldn’t you say, Jim and Mark and everybody? This was the first guy. He came out of nowhere. He’s saying, “These people are corrupt.” He’s still saying it. And he was unbelievable. Devin Nunes. He was unbelievable. Unbelievable. (Applause.) That’s so true, Devin.
He’d come in and say — I didn’t even know hi;, I just heard there were like — there was this congressman who kept going into a basement — into files. (Laughter.) He knew something was wrong. You felt it, right? And now we know a lot more than we knew then, right? You never thought it was as bad as it is. And hopefully we’re going to take care of things, because we can never, ever allow this to happen again. (Applause.)
Against the backdrop of massively consequential events, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had an important interview today with Maria Bartiromo.
The interview covers multiple topics to include: China dropping tariffs; the overall status of the U.S. economy; potential economic impacts from the Coronavirus; an important legislative infrastructure program, and much more… However, there’s a statement within the interview that subtle but highly important. .
Long-term CTH readers may remember a key point, since we initially outlined the consequences of President Trump’s policy objectives in 2016, that everyone should carefully consider the scale of President Trump’s opposition.
We encapsulated by saying: “there are trillions at stake“.
Those who oppose the “America-First” agenda of President Trump are very powerful both domestically and internationally. President Trump is confronting the heart of corrupt global influence and their power dynamic that involves the world of global trade and finance. These confrontations surround massive institutional interests.
As a consequence of accepting the scale of what Donald Trump was willing to confront there were several dynamics that needed to be carefully evaluated.
From the perspective of knowing these interests would do anything to retain power and position, it was not surprising to see the global elites rise up, prior to the November 2016 election, in direct opposition to what Donald Trump was publicly threatening.
The use of the global intelligence apparatus, the ‘five-eyes’ network, and everything we have learned about the domestic weaponization of intelligence operations against candidate Trump, President-Elect Trump and President Trump, should always be evaluated against the scale of these interests.
For almost four years a united effort has been waged against President Trump as he confronts not only corrupt domestic political opposition, but also corrupt international financial interests who hold a vested interest in retaining the status quo.
We have all watched the activity inside the U.S. and internationally as they attempted to eliminate the one person strong enough to deconstruct their schemes.
As the scale of opposition became clear, few thought President Trump could navigate the minefield of opposition being thrown at him…. but he did.
Today President Trump stands victorious against one aspect of these aligned interests; the impeachment coup failed.
Billions were spent by foreign and domestic actors throughout this four year effort…. It’s been hell, unbelievable hell, but Donald Trump made it through.
Incredibly, and unarguably, everyone will admit that no other person -other than Donald J Trump- could have ever achieved this.
While President Trump faced down the domestic enemies using a group of politicians, lawyers, advisors and -most importantly- YOU; a very small group at the heart of President Trump’s economic team have been waging a near thermonuclear battle on the international front…. this is the key for what comes next.
Now, I return to Mnuchin’s statement:
…”we’re working on legislation to move the Secret Service back to the treasury department”….
As we shared during the analytical cycle of 2015 and 2016, if we accept the scale of opposition; we must prepare for all possibilities. This acceptance was at the heart of our advocacy for moving the Secret Service away from Homeland Security and back into the U.S. Treasury Dept.
They tried a weaponized CIA/FBI/DOJ Crossfire Hurricane operation, and failed. They tried a weaponized special counsel operation, and failed. They tried a coup effort from inside government with an impeachment operation, and failed.
Now, as President Trump gains the upper-hand, survives their onslaught, and deliberately looks at retribution, those same interests are desperate. As all of those corrupt and united interests recognize that President Trump will likely win reelection in November, it becomes increasingly important to prepare for the worst.
The most dangerous time in the life of a rescue swimmer, is the moment when he reaches a desperate drowning man…
These moves highlight how President Donald Trump, and the priorities he has put forth into the GOP, are now leading the Republican party. The President is correct: “the republican party has never been more united.” Most of the GOPe ranks in the House have been removed and the strategic conservative/nationalist movement is now in place.
HJC Ranking Member Doug Collins is running for a Georgia Senate Seat; within the republican House rules he must leave his ranking position on the committee. Today the House steering committee overwhelmingly picked Representative Jim Jordan to take over as the top ranking member on the Judiciary Committee to replace Doug Collins.
Mark Meadows will take over republican leadership of the House Oversight Committee for the remainder of the year replacing Jim Jordan. This is a smart move as Jordan will be in position to counter the efforts of Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler.
Additionally, and in anticipation of the Republicans retaking the House in November, this move is a unifying effort by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to ascend the MAGA coalition into more influence. Kevin McCarthy wants to be Speaker if Republicans can retake the House.
Jim Jordan was a founder of the House Freedom Caucus and was adverse to the GOPe leadership interests of Speaker Paul Ryan and Leader Kevin McCarthy. However, McCarthy recognizes the new Republican party is the party of President Trump and the blue-collar coalition. His support for Jim Jordan is reflective of the Trump movement now leading the party.
WASHINGTON DC – During a closed-door meeting on Thursday, the GOP Steering Committee overwhelmingly selected Jordan (R-Ohio) to be the top Republican on the panel, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the internal vote. Jordan will replace Rep. Doug Collins, who recently announced a Georgia Senate bid and is required to step down from the top post under GOP conference rules.
The full Republican conference still needs to approve Jordan and Meadows for the posts, but usually backs the recommendations from the Steering Committee, which includes the top members of GOP leadership — including Jordan’s former rival House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), whose vote carries the most weight.
Collins is not expected to step down immediately, and leadership has indicated that they would give him a month-long period to transition his staff.
Before the Steering Committee voted on Thursday, Jordan and Meadows — who are fresh off assisting with Trump’s impeachment defense — made a pitch to their colleagues on the panels. No other candidates ran for the jobs, however, essentially ensuring they were locks for the positions.
Meadows is retiring, however, so the GOP will have to find a another leader for the panel later this year. (more)
During the State of the Union speech on Tuesday, President Trump remarked:
“Our message to the terrorists is clear: You will never escape American justice. If you attack our citizens, you forfeit your life!”
al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) had taken credit for the terrorist attack at Pensacola Naval Air Station – Today the White House announces:
“At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation in Yemen that successfully eliminated Qasim al-Rimi, a founder and the leader of al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and a deputy to al-Qa’ida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Rimi joined al-Qa’ida in the 1990s, working in Afghanistan for Osama bin Laden. Under Rimi, AQAP committed unconscionable violence against civilians in Yemen and sought to conduct and inspire numerous attacks against the United States and our forces. His death further degrades AQAP and the global al-Qa’ida movement, and it brings us closer to eliminating the threats these groups pose to our national security.”
“The United States, our interests, and our allies are safer as a result of his death. We will continue to protect the American people by tracking down and eliminating terrorists who seek to do us harm.” (link)
UPDATE: Pelosi “pre-ripped” the SOTU speech papers, it was staged. Nothing is real in the Democrat party just political theater Story New York Post
PELOSI THROWS A PETTY TANTRUM AT THE STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH
Remember her rude “clap back” last year?..Pelosi takes it further with ripping the speech in half!
Trump’s finest moment- a “perfect” SOTU speech
Trump gave a historic SOTU speech on Tuesday night. He talked about a bright future for all Americans and highlighted his administration’s accomplishments. It was a wonderful night for all Americans and the country.
Trump honored many great Americans last night including:
Tony Rankins, a US veteran and recovering drug addict.
Stephanie and Janiyah Davis from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kelli and Gage Hake from Stillwater, Oklahoma
Jody Jones from Farmersville, California.
Paul Morrow from Montgomery, Alabama.
Deputy Chief Raul Ortiz from Del Rio, Texas.
Tony Rankins from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Robin and Ellie Schneider from Kansas City.
Ivan Simonovis from Caracas, Venezuela.
Trump also honored Rush Limbaugh with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
As for the Democrats, they proved without a doubt last night that they are a party of America loathing mob of vindictive petty haters.
Seven Democrats did not even show up for the SOTU including “brain Trust” AOC. The ones that did refused to clap, booed and hissed at Trump’s accomplishments for America.
Watching Nancy Pelosi’s face last night you could see the hatred building though the speech as she jiggled her dentures in her mouth and glared at the copy of Trump’s SOTU address clutched in her boney vodka stained fingers. Finally at the conclusion of Trump’s speech, she couldn’t contain her emotions any more and stood up and made a show of ripping the speech in half. The Speaker Of the House had a temper tantrum in front of the nation and the world. The mask fell leaving no doubt about Pelosi and the Democrats.
Pelosi’s Legacy- she just ripped up:
One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen.
The survival of a child born at 21 weeks.
The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller.
A service member’s reunion with his family.
Not to mention Pelosi broke the law! She needs to resign!
