Record Early Voting in Georgia as Major Primary Race Takes Place Next Week

The early voting in Georgia is breaking all state records.  According to the GA secretary of state office statement yesterday, “through Wednesday, May 19th, over 565,000 people have early voted in Georgia—a 189% increase from the same point in the early voting period in the 2018 primary election and a 153% increase in the same point in the early voting period in the 2020 primary election.  This represents a voting scale 3x the rate of the 2018 mid-term election.

Obviously, Georgia voters are enthusiastic to vote in this primary.  The GA SoS reports party votes as, “Republican: 353,161, Democrat: 258,200, Nonpartisan: 4,017” through May 18th.  Yes, republican voters are far outpacing democrat early voters, but that shouldn’t be too surprising given the top of the ticket on the Democrat ballot is an uncontested primary race to install Stacey Abrams as the 2022 Democrat governor candidate.

Despite being in an uncontested race, the team behind Stacey Abrams is working hard to drive out their voter base.  As the Washington Post noted, Abram’s group ‘The New Georgia Project’, is working diligently to help Georgia Democrats make the right ballot selections.  Additionally, another allied group called ‘Black Voters Matter’, is using the ‘Souls to the Polls‘ strategy to make sure black voters get the primary outcome that matters most to them.

Against all of this extra emphasis on early voting success in Georgia there is a weird dynamic on the Republican side of the equation.  According to most general reporting from the media, there is a lot of enthusiasm on the GOP ballot to keep Brian Kemp as governor; however, oddly enough, it seems like Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is being positioned for defeat.  At least that’s the perspective of Politico and other similarly minded media.

Traditionally, if the historic pattern of republican ballots was used as an example, if the incumbent governor (Kemp) wins, then generally the incumbent secretary of state (Raffensperger) would win.  However, in this 2022 Georgia mid-term that’s not the narrative being established ahead of next Tuesday’s outcome.

The MSM political perspective is that republican Brian Kemp will easily win the primary for governor, but Brad Raffensperger will lose a primary challenge to republican Jody Hice, a Trump endorsement.   It would certainly be unusual for a Trump endorsed top of ticket candidate David Perdue to lose, and the Trump endorsed office on the next line to win – but that’s the general narrative and they are sticking to it.

The Trump-endorsed David Perdue camp is hoping to keep establishment Governor Brian Kemp under 50% and force a run-off special election.   However, the Trump-endorsed Jody Hice camp is looking for an outright victory in their secretary of state race.  Funny that.

DATA POINTS:

♦ Early voting in Georgia is setting records.

♦ Democrats have uncontested top of ticket candidate Stacy Abrams.

♦ Despite being uncontested, Stacey Abrams is pushing a massive voting effort.

♦ Black Votes Matter and The New Georgia Project are working earnestly.

♦ Republican Governor Brian Kemp is very confident of victory.

♦ Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is not so confident.

If one were to be a deep weeds political walker, you might suspect the data points could all be reconciled if the New Georgia Project was actually coordinating an effort for Democrats to vote for Brian Kemp, because the primary race is open to cross party voting.  However, that’s crazy conspiracy theory.  I’m certain it’s something else.

We will find out the outcome next Tuesday.

AUGUSTA, Georgia — Republicans in Georgia still seething about the 2020 presidential race say they would rather sit out the election in November if Trump’s candidate, former Sen. David Perdue, loses an upcoming GOP gubernatorial primary than ever support incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp.

The animosity towards Kemp, whom several MAGA Republicans described as a “Judas” and “betrayer” for certifying Joe Biden’s win in 2020, is unlikely to affect the outcome of the May 24 primary. But it may hurt Kemp’s chances this fall in an anticipated rematch with presumed Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams, the woman he narrowly beat in 2018 — with Trump’s support. (read more)

Ultra MAGA Candidate Kathy Barnette is Surging in GOP Pennsylvania Senate Race

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on May 9, 2022 | sundance

With eight days to go before the republican primary in Pennsylvania, ultra-MAGA candidate Kathy Barnette is surging.  In a recent republican-leaning Trafalgar Poll {SEE DATA HERE} Barnette has shot to second place with 23.2%, only 1% behind Dr. Mehmet Oz who is at 24.5%.

President Trump has endorsed Dr. Oz, however, a considerable number of people in the grassroots MAGA base do not trust Oz, view David McCormick as an establishment candidate, and they are going strong with support for Kathy Barnette {WEBSITE HERE}.

A victory is within reach for the candidate who says “Now more than ever, America requires strong, authentic Republican voices to stand up and defend the U.S. Constitution and the rights we hold dear. I will be that voice — for Pennsylvania and our great nation.”

After winning the Pennsylvania straw poll in April, Barnette has continued to gain momentum and increased attention.

Ballotpedia: “Barnette worked as a political commentator and in corporate finance after serving in the United States Army Reserves. Barnette identifies herself as an America First candidate, a term often associated with the platform of Trump and candidates who say they support Trump’s agenda. In response to Trump’s endorsement of Oz, Barnette said, “MAGA does not belong to President Trump . . . although he coined the word, it belongs to the people. Our values never shifted to President Trump’s values. It was President Trump who shifted and aligned with our values.” (link)

Rand Paul Questions DHS Secretary About Disinformation, Mayorkas Accidentally Gives Game Away “Should I Sit Back and Take That?”

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul questioned DHS Secretary Mayorkas about what constitutes disinformation and what will the DHS Disinformation Bureau do about it?  {Direct Rumble Link}

After multiple back and forth dodges by the DHS Secretary, at 06:40 Mayorkas slips a little and gives an example using the COVID vaccination program. After giving the example of a hypothetical claim of the vaccine containing fentanyl, Mayorkas asks “should I sit back and accept that,” meaning do nothing about it.

Right there Mayorkas gives away the intent and purpose of the Ministry of Truth.  Identify disinformation, then communicate with the networked partnership of social media companies, and then target whoever made the claim.  The government then controls the speech.  The government then becomes the arbiter of what is true and/or false.  The problem as Rand Paul is drilling down, is that ultimately government will approve speech.  WATCH:

There is no such thing as “disinformation.”  There is information the government approves of, and information that is averse to the interest of government.  That’s the bottom line and the end of this regulatory slippery slope discussion.

Example: Ask the DHS Disinformation Governance Board if a fetus is a baby human?

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Legislation Banning Abortion After 15 Weeks

Earlier today Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation banning abortion after 15 weeks of gestation.  “This will represent the most significant protections for life that have been enacted in this state in a generation,” DeSantis said as he signed the bill at an evangelical church in the city of Kissimmee.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by pro-life advocates and community leaders to sign HB 5, the Reducing Fetal and Infant Mortality Act, to protect the lives of Florida’s most vulnerable by prohibiting all abortions after 15 weeks of gestation. President Trump Endorses Dr Oz in Pennsylvania Senate Race

Apparently, Pennsylvania politics is all about getting the suburban mom vote, or so the professionals in polling say.   This endorsement seems puzzling, but perhaps the Pennsylvania Treepers can clear it up.  Prior story on PA political happenings here.

I don’t want to dump on anyone, but Dr. Oz being endorsed by President Trump seems out of sync with the base.  Ultimately, it’s up to Pennsylvania Republican voters, and maybe they like this guy as the most viable candidate.  Voter registration ends May 2nd, and the Pennsylvania primary is May 17th {link} [General election Nov 8].

I am honored to receive President Trump’s full support and endorsement, and I thank him for that. President Trump knows how critical it is to change the kinds of people we send to Washington. I’m ready to bring an America First agenda to the Senate for Pennsylvania. pic.twitter.com/7gmhZupinr

However, how many people are from Pennsylvania?

CEO Devin Nunes Provides an Update on Truth Social Media Platform – Web Based Access Likely in Next Few Weeks

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on April 8, 2022

During an interview with One America News {SEE HERE}, and another with The Washington Times {SEE HERE}, CEO Devin Nunes discussed the future of the social media platform Truth Social.

According to Mr. Nunes’ interview with the Washington Times, “Bottom line is it’s the fastest-growing social media company in history,” he said.  Also telling OAN and the Washington Times that a web-based version of the platform is likely to launch in the next several weeks which will allow all users to join.

Currently, the platform is exclusive to Apple users via an app access to create accounts and engage with the platform.  An Android version of the same app is anticipated soon.  Using the mobile platforms for user engagement, the company does not currently need extensive proprietary server hosting capacity.  However, to build out the web-based platform the data demand will require a significant expansion of server capacity.

It appears, from the interviews, that launching a web-based version of Truth Social [TruthSocial.com] will be coming in the next several weeks. As noted by the Times, “Truth Social’s critical startup move is to insulate the platform from Big Tech by using friendly servers that will keep it online. That web access to sign up on TruthSocial.com should happen in weeks; “Because we’re building this from scratch without using any of the tech tyrants, anyone who can cancel us, we have to go methodically, step by step, to ensure both quality and reliability,” Mr. Nunes says.

Washington Times Interview Here

Once they launch the web-based version of the platform, they are quickly going to have to figure out how to generate revenue.   Data service capacity and performance are very expensive.  That’s the reason why Twitter never included an edit feature before.

Each individual user engagement generates what’s known as “an ajax call”- a request to the server base.  Hitting a like button is an ajax call.  The reason the features cost so much money is the exponential scale of users on the platform.   If 1 million users are on the service when you hit a “like” button, the call and return from the server bank does not only need to show you the result, it also needs to show every other user the result.  With 1 million users, that translates to 1 million ajax call returns.

Facebook likely has a warehouse sized server bank just to handle the “like feature” all by itself.  Now, imagine the scale of server expansion needed to deliver an edited comment response to all simultaneous users on Twitter.  That’s why social media platforms are not profitable, they are still exhaustively expensive for data processing (functions per millisecond) and data capacity (simultaneous registered users).

Trust me, CTH is very well aware of how much these things cost.  I can only imagine the burn rate of cash Truth Social will incur as soon as everyone can gain access.  Their server banks will need to expand in scale and speed, likely to end up filling buildings the size of airports with hardware.  That doesn’t count the back-up systems.

People who want alternative free speech platforms, and yet simultaneously criticize the time it takes to get these systems up and running, most certainly do not understand the scale of the technical challenges and issues.   I can foresee Truth Social needing their own independent advertising platform also, which will essentially be like adding a Madison avenue executive set of offices to the organization.

They are going to need revenue that is not subject to the whims of other third-party payment processors and develop advertising systems outside the behemoth overlords at Google.  These are not easy challenges to overcome.
