Restaurant Boldly Lets You Know Minimum Wage Increases Aren’t Free

Those who have been pushing for a nationwide increase in the minimum wage have often argued that businesses will see no effect in their bottom line, and customers won’t see increased prices to compensate for the additional labor costs – because the money to pay these people grows on trees or something. Anyways, a Minnesota restaurant has decided that they’re going to publicize the increased costs to let everyone know how arbitrarily raising wages has had a negative effect on their company. Predictable, outrage ensued.

The Oasis Café in Stillwater added what they’re calling a “minimum wage fee” to each check to show customers that it isn’t free to increase the pay of their employees, and the business isn’t going to take a hit over it.
