Sunday Talks – Lindsey Graham Says He’s a Yes on Tulsi Gabbard, Specifically Because She Will Permit Warrantless Searches on U.S. Citizen Data

During a Fox News interview, Senator Lindsey Graham says he is a yes on RFK Jr, Kash Patel and now Tulsi Gabbard, specifically because the latter has now assured him, she will support FISA-702 warrantless searches of U.S. citizen communication.  Senator Graham states falsely the 702 authorities only pertain to foreign nationals.  Watch how he says it, PROMPTED:

.

Remember what I said about Kash Patel being the firewall selected by the Senate to make the American people drop their pitchforks and torches? Listen to Senator Graham through that protective prism and you can hear exactly that approach.

Lots of professional pearl-clutching here….

[Transcript] – MARGARET BRENNAN: We go now to Virginia Democratic Senator Mark Warner. He is the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and joins us from Palm Beach, Florida. Good morning to you, Senator.

SEN. MARK WARNER: Good morning, Margaret.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Do you have any sense yet what the cost of these tariffs could be for Virginia, which does have a wine industry, for example?

SEN. WARNER: Yeah. Well, first of all, Margaret, I think we might want to call this the Donald Trump Super Bowl tax, with the big game coming next week. If you- you know, avocados, tomatoes, beer from Mexico, price is going to go up. The question around cars- I’ve read already about $3,000 of additional price on cars, up to 10,000 on trucks, because we’ve actually integrated very well our auto production with Canada and Mexico. I think it’s well about the fact that for years, we’ve been encouraging businesses to leave China and near shore to a place like Mexico. Now that is going to end up costing consumers more. And for industries like ours- like the wine industry, where we are growing rapidly in Virginia, those folks are going to get socked as well. So this is- remember Donald Trump got hired trying to lower grocery- saying he was going to lower grocery prices–

MARGARET BRENNAN: –Right.

SEN. WARNER: Two weeks in, he’s doing something that’s going to do the absolute opposite.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Well, we will track the impact of this trade war. Senator, I want to switch topics. You are, as we said, the Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, we watched that hearing this week for Tulsi Gabbard, she had two particular exchanges with Republican senators, Todd Young and James Lankford, who pressed her to say that Edward Snowden was a traitor. Lankford said it was a softball. But listen to what happened.

SEN. TODD YOUNG: Did he betray a duty? Did he- did he betray the trust of the American people, which is according to Merriam-Webster, that’s the definition of a traitor.

TULSI GABBARD: Edward Snowden broke the law and he released this information in a way that he should not have. He also acknowledged and exposed information that was unconstitutional.

[SEN. JAMES LANKFORD SOT]

SEN. JAMES LANKFORD: Was he a traitor at the time when he took America’s secrets, released him in public and then ran to China and became a Russian citizen?

TULSI GABBARD: Senator, I’m focused on the future and how we can prevent something like this from happening again.

[END SOT]

MARGARET BRENNAN: You’ve worked closely with these senators. I know they’re Republicans and you’re from a different party, but when you speak to them privately, do you think they can get over that- her refusal to call him a traitor and actually vote to confirm her or even move her out of committee?

SEN. WARNER: Listen, Margaret, Edward Snowden released more information- probably did as much damage to our intelligence community as anyone in history. And the fact that Ms. Gabbard- who actually had legislation to pardon Edward Snowden, she called him a brave whistleblower, couldn’t bring herself to call him a traitor, I think is disqualifying just on plain judgment. What would that- what signal if she got in, would that send to the IC workers or contractors? Is she going to suddenly enforce the law if she called Snowden a brave whistleblower? And what I’m particularly concerned about, Margaret, is our sharing of information with our allies, that’s not written into law that’s based on trust. Will they really trust to share their intelligence with us if she can’t call out one of the worst traders in recent American history as- as such, as a traitor.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Do you think she can even make it out of committee and make it to a full vote on the floor of the Senate?

SEN. WARNER: I know there are a number- our committee is the- historically the most bipartisan. We check our partisan hats at the door. There is enormous MAGA pressure that, as we’ve seen, put on senators who are willing to stand up. We’ll know this coming week, but it’s not just Snowden, it was- America’s most powerful intelligence tool is a law called- something we call Section 702, she left us totally confused on her views on that. And as well, her lack of judgment, whether it’s going to visit Assad when he was head of Syria, whether it was taking trips paid for by sketchy groups or echoing Putin’s comments somehow NATO started the war in Ukraine, that is not the judgment of somebody that would run 18 intelligence communities- agencies

MARGARET BRENNAN: We will watch to see those Republican senators. I want to ask you as well about what’s happening at the FBI and the Justice Department. President Trump- he campaigned on this promise to restructure the government. Seems like he’s implementing that this week. So far between the FBI and Justice Department, we’ve seen at least 20 terminations. Some are calling this a purge. But is it overstating it if we’re seeing 20 people lose their jobs?

SEN. WARNER: Well, if you are suddenly taking out the most experienced folks at justice or at the FBI, how does that make us stronger? And what he’s saying is, every FBI agent that somehow touched the January 6 investigation- that was a comprehensive investigation. I’ve been told there were almost half of all the FBI agents at least had some involvement. Remember, this was a case that was taken up against these rioters all across the country. If you’re suddenly going to get rid of all of those- that could be thousands–

MARGARET BRENN: Yeah–

SEN. WARNER: –what does that mean for our cyber security? What does it mean for our trafficking and stop against fentanyl and other drugs? What does it mean in terms of, you know, serious crime investigations? This would be devastating.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Well, that’s- our reporting is that the order was for a list to be drawn up of those 1500 or so people who worked on those cases. We’re going to try to get to the bottom of whether they’re actually going to be fired or not–

SEN. WARNER: –But, Margaret. Margaret–

MARGARET BRENNAN: –That’s not clear.

SEN. WARNER: We’ve seen- but we’ve seen you get your name on these lists. It’s like- it’s like, Trump’s potentially illegal offer to buy out all the federal employees, where we have no money in the budget for but we had a great tragedy this week in DC with the air- the crash. We are already short air traffic controllers. If suddenly 2 or 3000 air traffic controllers were to say, hey, I’m going to take this buyout, our airspace couldn’t operate. And yet he’s doing this so recklessly, frankly again, without legal authority–

MARGARET BRENNAN: –Is it being offered to them?

SEN. WARNER: Pardon me?

MARGARET BRENNAN: Is that open to–

SEN. WARNER: –Say again.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Is it being offered to air traffic controllers?

SEN. WARNER: All federal employees- my understanding it went out to two million federal employees. This offer- which, again, OPM does not have that authority to start with. That was who it came from, but it is- I can tell you, with lots of federal employees, we got chaos on steroids going on, and we had heard from Trump’s supporters, the OMB director, for example, that he wanted to traumatize federal workers. Well, that is happening, and these workers are the folks that inspect our- our fruit, our milk, our eggs. You know, what happens if they all quit?

MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you- and I know many of those people live in the state of Virginia, they are your constituents. I want to ask you about your former partner on the Intelligence Committee, Marco Rubio, now Secretary of State. He told a podcaster this week, the president made the decision to cancel security protection for Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who served during the first term, because he looked through a “threat versus cost risk assessment.” I know you’re briefed on intelligence. Did the threat from Iran to assassinate former US officials go away?

SEN. WARNER: No. I’ve seen no intelligence that would indicate that that threat has been diminished. I think this is payback and it’s not just Pompeo–

MARGARET BRENNAN: –But Secretary Rubio endorsed this.

SEN. WARNER: Listen I have not seen any intelligence- and here I agree with my partner Tom Cotton, the now chair of the intel committee- we’ve seen nothing to indicate less threat. And also taking out, for example, down the security detail for former General Chief of Staff, Mark Milley. This is all about retribution. And he’s putting people’s lives in danger, which is just unbelievable, and I wish more people would stand up.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Senator, thank you for your time this morning.

SEN. WARNER: Thank you, Margaret.

Two Weeks into Term Two and Things Look Awesome

Posted originally on the CTH on February 2, 2025 | Sundance

A quick review and a little warning of sorts, in a good way.

Two weeks into the second term of President Trump and the activity when combined with the future outlook is excellent.

Apoplexy abounds throughout the DC system as President Trump continues to overwhelm every silo of opposition simultaneously; meanwhile, the media is being bombarded with so much activity they are completely flummoxed like a bunch of one-legged plate spinners in a three-ring circus.

The systems’ outrage machine is bellowing dark smoke, clanking, spluttering and in a state of perpetual tilt.  Things are going swimmingly.

With the latest outrage du jour, the elimination of USAID now sucking all the oxygen from the intake manifolds of the Deep State machine, the various NGO’s are blasting the UniParty politicians with too much noise.

Chairs, both people and seats, are everywhere; phones are melting, media editors and transcriptionists for silo narratives are totally overwhelmed, “stop the hammering,” and yet the deafening sound of winning is not at peak climax.

We The People have not smiled this much in decades, as the Big Ugly wrecking ball only gains momentum with each swing.  These results are far beyond my personal expectations, and that is entirely the result of my reluctance to trust.

In the deep recesses of the data, there was always a possibility of Trump’s singular intent breaking through the concentric circles of control; but that analysis leaned alarmingly toward ‘hope’, so it was always best to put it into oppositional context.  When we contemplated the quiet thoughts that must have been in place, despite our concerns with the guardians of status-quo, there was always the possibility…. But watching it unfold is something very special. Very special indeed.

The singular intent theory always held that President Trump, as a solitary person, had to retain independent thoughts regardless of the snakes in his midst.  The singular intent theory can be encapsulated in one example -and there are many- of an issue that highlights it.

EXAMPLE: For four solid years President Trump requested and instructed the declassification of the information used against him in the Russian Collusion conspiracy operation.  To wit President Trump went through three chiefs-of-staff with the same request, declassify the documents.  Four Directors of National Intelligence; two CIA Directors; two FBI Directors; two deputy FBI Directors; three Attorneys’ General; three Deputy AG’s; four White House counsels and three National Security Advisors, all with the same directive, declassify and release the damned documents.  None of them ever did. Instead they formed concentric circles around the President and blocked, with growing, evolving and shape-shifting justifications at every turn…  But wait….

…. Not only did all the aforementioned people, lawyers, administrators and IC silo officials block President Trump’s effort to declassify evidence of the activity against him, the DOJ then went to the absurd length of appointing a Special Prosecutor to chase President Trump to his home in Mar-a-Lago and charge him with a crime AFTER they refused to do the thing that was then used as a justification for charging him with a crime, classified documents…. THINK ABOUT IT.

Put yourself into the quiet time of President Trump’s thinking as he sat in an armored SUV going to the courtroom to hear accusations of his illegal conduct, when contemplated against the nature of the opposition that created the legal outcome that was now used to charge him.  Seriously, put yourself into his quiet thoughts.  That my friends, is one small example of the place where the “singular intent” theory of Trump in term-2 starts.

From that origination position, hope for Trump and the proverbial “lessons learned” always existed.  It didn’t matter if the people around him held the same level of purpose or intensity about those matters, for President Trump the man this weaponization bullshit would always be personal.

Now we are bearing witness to the natural outcome of all of it.  Instructions, policies, procedures and Executive Orders flowing at a pace that no-one in Washington DC could fathom, despite the ‘dictator Trump‘ protestations they predicted in their proactive position to retain status-quo.

Yes, the results of the past two weeks have been astoundingly awesome.  And that is despite the wish-washy efforts of many within the ranks of the office of the presidency.   Thus, I step off my soapbox with a joy-filled warning of sorts.

Beware the movement of the walls around you as we enter this dark tunnel place toward Deep State deconstruction.

Many of the allied, dare I say friendly torchbearers, did not anticipate the level of Trumpian ferocity needed to pass through the caverns on the journey to the plug at the bottom of the swamp.

There’s a great deal of Big Ugly stuff to overcome the deeper we get, and as the quest gets more challenging, we will likely discover the ranks of the brave are thinning.   However, be of good cheer, for that is a good thing.  Because in the final analysis the victory is even sweeter when fewer can pass the challenge.

I think by now many of us know these DC people very well. Their apoplexy, in combination with their growing desperation, makes them exceptionally dangerous right now… But fugit, if not now, then when? Wrath of patient men and all that.

Steadfast as always,

The Secret Tariff Code is Buried in ‘Section 2, Item (h)’ of the Executive Order

Posted originally on the CTH on February 2, 2025 | Sundance

Remember when President Trump established the “External Revenue Service?” … It’s all connected and sequential.

Almost everyone will miss, in part because outcomes appear in a sequence that few care to follow, but buried in the Trump tariff Executive Order {SEE HERE} you will discover something.  As the unofficial Deep State strategist, and the self-appointed misfit explainer of stuff, lol, we will explain:

[Sec 2, SubSection (h)]: Sec. 2. (a) All articles that are products of Canada as defined by the Federal Register notice described in subsection (e) of this section (Federal Register notice), and except for those products described in subsection (b) of this section, shall be, consistent with law, subject to an additional 25 percent ad valorem rate of duty. Such rate of duty shall apply with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on February 4, 2025, except that goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, after such time that were loaded onto a vessel at the port of loading or in transit on the final mode of transport prior to entry into the United States before 12:01 a.m. eastern time on February 1, 2025, shall not be subject to such additional duty, only if the importer certifies to CBP as specified in the Federal Register notice.

[…] (h) For avoidance of doubt, duty-free de minimis treatment under 19 U.S.C. 1321 shall not be available for the articles described in subsection (a) and subsection (b) of this section. {link}

So, Canada and Mexico get 25% tariffs, but China only 10%.  Why?  The secret is in that subsection “(h)” when it talks about de minimis treatment. Essentially, what President Trump is doing is levying a much more massive import tax, and possible confiscation impact on the core source of fentanyl (and other illegal) substances.

Approximately a billion packages are estimated to enter the USA under the cover of the de minimis exemption.  This is where the enforcement mechanism of the “External Revenue Service” combines with the tariff approach and the “state of emergency.”  President Trump imposed the tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a nearly 50-year law that gives the president sweeping power to impose sanctions after declaring an emergency.

Now the billion packages, mostly from China, Mexico and Canada are going to be subjected to review and interception.

The de minimis loophole comes from back in the 1930s. The idea back then was, say you went on a vacation to Paris, you shouldn’t have to file customs paperwork or pay taxes if you decided to ship some little Eiffel Tower statues to your friends back home.

Congress in 2015 then raised the de minimis threshold from $200 to $800.  However, the e-commerce world exploded, and Chinese companies began using the de minimis loophole to ship cheap goods (ex. Temu and Shein) into the USA direct to consumers without paying any customs duty.

It was reported last year that the U.S. was on track to receive a billion packages through the de minimis loophole that aren’t taxed and don’t have customs slips saying what they are.  Making matters worse, illegal items are slipping through the cracks, including, knockoffs, unsafe items and even chemicals used to make fentanyl.  The worst abuser that exploits this de minimis loophole is, by far, China.

President Trump can require a customs and duty declaration stating what is in every package and subsequently collect tariffs and duties.

Put it all together and President Trump is executing an Emergency Act executive order, plus the imposition of a tariff review, and simultaneous interception of de minimis packages previously unchecked as the enforcement mechanism.  All executed by the External Revenue Service.

President Trump has got them surrounded, and the scope of it has the media so overwhelmed they cannot quite put it together.

Almost too much winning….

…. Almost!

(Bloomberg) — President Donald Trump’s new trade levies against China, Canada and Mexico include a broadside against e-commerce, with apparent plans to extinguish a long-held tariff exemption for packages worth less than $800.

Trump’s executive orders directing 25% levies on Canada and Mexico — plus a 10% duty on China — specify that the “de minimis” exemption for small packages no longer applies. Under the exemption, products below that dollar amount are able to enter the US without tariffs — a boon for China’s e-commerce retailers who ship often cheaper wares directly to consumers in the US.

The full scope of the de minimis changes — whether they apply just to the new tariffs issued Saturday or to older existing trade levies — was not clear. A White House spokesman did not respond to questions about its reach.

However, trade lawyers said Trump’s language cracking down on the de minimis exemption could apply broadly, even to existing duties against China, Canada and Mexico.

Regardless, the impact of the change threatens to fall most squarely on China, affecting retailers including Alibaba, JD.com Inc., PDD Holdings Inc.’s Temu and fashion-focused Shein. American shoppers and companies imported about $48 billion worth of shipments from the world under that loophole in the first nine months of last year, according to US Customs and Border Protection estimates. First Emissary Mission a Resounding Success – Grenell to Venezuela

Posted originally on the CTH on February 2, 2025 | Sundance

I love it when a plan comes together. It all just makes buckets of sense when we watch it rolling out. We have talked about these plans, specific plans, and objectives for several years. Now we get to watch it in action. [Big Happy]

The elimination of USAID plays a complimentary role in the specifics of this approach. More on that later. In the interim, Ric Grenell was held in reserve – not given an official cabinet position, for exactly the reason of a necessary emissary function we discussed {GO DEEP}. The first mission was a resounding success.

Additionally, President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post on Saturday that Venezuela had agreed to take back migrants who had come to the United States illegally.

The announcement came after a meeting between President Nicolás Maduro and a senior Trump administration official, Richard Grenell, that led to the release of six US detainees held in Venezuela.

“Venezuela has agreed to receive, back into their Country, all Venezuela illegal aliens who were encamped in the U.S., including gang members of Tren de Aragua,” Trump wrote. “Venezuela has further agreed to supply the transportation back.” {link}

For those who were not paying close attention as we outlined the emissary approach, here’s the reminder:

It is all coming together nicely.  With Lt General Keith Kellogg special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, and with the appointment of Steven C. Witkoff to be Special Envoy to the Middle East, President Trump has essentially created a construct that works around the insufferable issues with a globalist State Department.

Senator Marco Rubio was nominated for Secretary of State, thereby removing him from the Senate Intelligence Committee and leadership role in Gang of Eight intel; but Trump simultaneously put in guardrails against the neocon tendencies of the Florida Senator and junior McCain.

Rubio doesn’t have Ukraine/Russia in his portfolio, nor does he have diplomatic or policy control over the Middle East.  President Trump has neutered the State Department, and the cherry on the proverbial cake is what he just announced.

[Source]

Yes, President Trump has just confirmed that Ric Grenell will be the “Emissary” we have discussed.  Great job Mr President (for all the obvious reasons).

With Nunes leading a private intel advisory committee and with Grenell being the most powerful, agile and flexible person to run strategic foreign policy operations, the tentacle influence of the Deep State is removed from the Oval Office.  Now the official cabinet team can start pouring sunlight into the silos.

Without a doubt in my mind, the “emissary” is the most important person President Trump will select.

The Washington DC Intelligence Community (IC) actively work to isolate the office of the president.  This is an almost impossible dynamic to avoid, caused by an entrenched and ideological adversary who has dug themselves deep into the apparatus of government.

The “emissary” is the person who carries the word of President Trump to any person identified by President Trump.  The emissary is very much like a tape recording of President Trump in human form.  The emissary travels to a location, meets a particular person or group, and then recites the opinion of the President.  The words spoken by the emissary, are the words of President Trump.

The IC cannot inject themselves into this dynamic; that is why it is so valuable.

The emissary then hears the response from the intended person or group, repeats it back to them to ensure he/she will return with clarity of intent as expressed, and then returns to the office of the presidency and repeats the reply for the President.  The emissary recites back exactly what he was /is told.

This process is critical when you understand how thoroughly compromised the full Executive Branch is.  More importantly, this process becomes even more critical when you accept the Intelligence Community will lie to the office of the President to retain their position.

Read this next sentence slowly…. If the Senate confirms a director of an IC silo, then that director is demonstrably going to lie to the office of the President.

The Senate only confirms Intelligence Community leadership who are willing to LIE to THE PRESIDENT.    This is just a factual reality.

If the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) confirms them, they will lie.  That is the main role of the SSCI.

The people who constructed the Silos then metastasized the control rot within them, use the term “continuity of government,” to describe the true role and responsibility of the system.  This is not factually wrong.

Where people go wrong is misunderstanding what the “continuity” is that is being maintained.  Truly, the continuity of government is the priority. However, it’s the continuity of currently corrupt and immoral government we are now maintaining.

The CIA Director will lie to President Trump (they did, remember), the information that comes from within the CIA institution is political and false.

The FBI Leadership will lie to President Trump (they did, remember), the information that comes from within the FBI institution is political and false.

The AG will lie, same problem.

The DNI will lie, same problem.

The NSA will lie, and all the deputies therein will lie, same problem, same problem, same problem.

Washington DC puts it this way, you probably heard Bill Barr talking about ad-infinitum.  The IC leadership is responsible for maintaining the “continuity of government” at all costs.  The government is more important than The President.

If the continuity of government is maintained by lying to the office of the President, then so be it.  Or, as James Comey said when justifying his lies to the President and his manipulation on March 20th, 2017: “because of the sensitivity of the matter.

You can get as angry as you want about this, it’s just the DC system that exists.  We must deal with what exists, not what we would pretend there to be.

If a candidate for an IC position is not willing to lie to the President, that is to believe the lies that come from within the silo they are in charge of, then the Senate will not confirm him/her.   This is why President Trump needs an emissary.

The role of the emissary is critical, the qualifications for that role are extremely important.

Remember, this person is speaking on behalf of President Trump.  And representing the responding voice with a similar level of clarity.

The emissary must be of incredible moral character.  They must be honest.  The person should be entirely altruistic.  They must have exceptional judgement, possess no ego, be impervious to scrutiny or review. They must maintain themselves at the highest moral standards at all times and exhibit incredible judgement and wisdom.

Due to the nature of the position the emissary is extremely powerful; therefore, a disposition of humility is also critical.  The President must be able to trust this person without reservation or issue.  At the same time, the entire weight of the U.S. Intelligence Community apparatus will seek to compromise the emissary, as they try to put walls around the President who holds silo-busting power.

Honesty, integrity, humility, trustworthiness, unimpeachable character and exceptional judgement, establish the baseline of traits the emissary must possess.

This is a choice that will be deeply important to President Trump.  Fortunately, it is not a position that requires any confirmation or external approval.  Judgement, discernment, wisdom and silence are the strength characteristics.

Excellent choice!

President Trump Executes Tariffs Against Mexico and Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau Responds with Tariffs on U.S. Goods

Posted originally on the CTH on February 2, 2025 | Sundance

President Trump has triggered punitive tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China for their role in the manufacture and delivery of fentanyl into the United States while disregarding their responsibility to secure the U.S. border.

In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced responsive tariffs against American goods.  However, the responsive tariffs are primarily the products that Canada has exploited through the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) loophole.

[SOURCE]

It is obvious Canada’s response is in consultation with the U.S. democrats, as is the customary norm for the Trudeau administration.

(Politico) – Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, on Saturday night made a televised address announcing concrete measures including a tit-for-tat 25% tariff phased in across C$155bn ($107bn) worth of American products. Trudeau said Trump had put at risk US consumers’ and industries’ access to much-needed Canadian critical minerals and resources including oil, energy and timber. The prime minister promised to work with Canada’s provinces to review dealings with the United States.

Addressing Americans, Trudeau said: “Tariffs against Canada will put your jobs at risk, potentially shutting down American auto assembly plants and other manufacturing facilities. They will raise costs for you including food at the grocery store and gas at the pump. They will impede your access to an affordable supply of vital goods crucial for US security such as nickel, potash, uranium, steel and aluminum.”

Trudeau added: “They will violate the free trade agreement that the president and I along with our Mexican partner negotiated and signed a few years ago” – referring to the United States Mexico Canada agreement (USMCA) that was drawn up largely at Trump’s behest after he tore up the previous North America free trade agreement (Nafta) during his first term as US president. (more)

Keep in mind, through the past 20 years, Canada has essentially shut down their heavy manufacturing while worshipping the climate change agenda of the WEF team.  Industrial products from Canada are a fraction of what they used to be.  Instead, what Canada now has is an “assembly economy” where they import component parts -mostly from China- and then assemble them into finished goods for distribution into the U.S, a NAFTA and USMCA workaround.

There is no way for Canada to reciprocate at the same level as Team USA; the economy of scale just isn’t in their favor.   However, on the automotive side, multiple manufacturers of vehicles (especially Toyota) are reliant upon cross border component auto parts in order to reach the U.S. market.

Both Canada and Mexico are used by China and the EU as an entry point into the U.S. market.  Major investments by European auto manufacturers and Chinese companies will be impacted.  The agricultural products are essentially moot.

President Trump’s moves on the tariffs are a good start to an economic issue that has gone unaddressed for too long.

President Trump imposed the tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a nearly 50-year law that gives the president sweeping power to impose sanctions after declaring an emergency. No president has previously used the law to impose tariffs, although Trump threatened to use it against Mexico in his first term and more recently against Colombia when they balked at accepting a planeload of migrants deported by the United States.

Pundit Who Helped Collapse Media Credibility Leaves Media Due to Collapsed Credibility

Eh, the funny thing about concentric circles is the downward spiral based on your perspective.

NBC pundit Chuck “sleepy eyes” Todd was one of the obvious voices helping to destroy the remaining remnants of corporate media credibility.  Today, citing the collapse of corporate media credibility, Chuck Todd announces his departure from NBC.

WASHINGTON DC – Longtime NBC News political reporter Chuck Todd is leaving the network after 18 years, he announced on his podcast Friday morning. [H]e said it was because the “media has a lot of work to do to win back the trust” of the public, and “national media isn’t the place that’s going to be able to do it.”

[…] Todd said he will bring his podcast with him to his next venture after a brief hiatus. “I do plan to continue to share my reporting and my perspective, and to cover politics the way I’ve been covering it,” Todd said. (read more)

President Trump Plans for 25% Border Security Tariffs on Mexico and Canada Remain Set to Begin Saturday

Posted originally on the CTH onJanuary 31, 2025 | Sundance

This is excellent news.  There are two distinctively different sets of tariffs scheduled to roll out in the next few days, weeks and months.

One set of long-term tariffs called MACRO tariffs focused on reciprocity and based primarily on economic fairness.  The second and more urgent set, are focused on the immediacy of national security, border security and the demand for allies to shut down their support for fentanyl distribution.

The Border Security tariffs of 25% against Mexico and Canada start on Saturday.  The media and corporate interests in/around Wall Street are in maximum apoplexy mode; however, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik previously explained the reason for the urgency.  The video is 5 minutes and well worth your time if you want to avoid the confusion being pushed by media. WATCH:

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Thursday said he will impose 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico beginning Saturday, reiterating concerns about illegal migration, fentanyl and trade deficits in remarks to reporters.

“I’ll be putting the tariff of 25 percent on Canada, and separately, 25 percent on Mexico, and we’ll really have to do that,” Trump told reporters while signing executive orders focused on aviation safety.

Trump cited a “number of reasons” for doing so. “No. 1 is the people that have poured into our country so horribly and so much. No. 2 are the drugs, fentanyl and everything else that has come into the country. And No. 3 are the massive subsidies we are giving to Canada and to Mexico in the form of deficits,” Trump said.

“Those tariffs may or may not rise with time,” the president added.

When asked whether tariffs would also be applied to U.S. imports of Canadian oil, Trump said “we may or may not” apply the duties. “We’re making that determination tonight,” he said.

[…] The president also said he was “thinking about something” on China, because they’re sending fentanyl into our country,” but he did not speak to when he might levy tariffs on Beijing or how high he would raise them. After winning election in November, Trump had threatened to impose a 10 percent tariff on Chinese imports.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions between the Trump administration and Mexican and Canadian officials, who are seeking to reassure the new president they are clamping down on border security to stave off the tariffs. Both countries have vowed to retaliate with tariffs of their own if Trump follows through on his threats. (read more)

Personally, I would prefer to see 100% import tariffs on all goods, all of them, every product imported from another country, driving the prices of those products up big time.

Essentially, CTH holds a viewpoint seeing through all the manipulative economic gaslighting over the past several decades. Real results from 2017 through 2020 proved that targeted tariffs do not ever raise the price to U.S. consumers, and now with the added benefit of watching in real time what happened in Russia due to sanctions that cut off the majority of their imports, we have an even more fact-based reason to support 100% tariffs on all import products.   This will force the reindustrialization we need.

Tariffs fundamentally change the economic dynamic.  Exfiltration of wealth ends and wealth creation within the USA middle-class begins again.
