Trump Reaches Deal To Keep 1,000 Carrier Jobs In The U.S.
Nine months ago the video of a plant-full of American workers getting the news that they were ‘fired’ due to Carrier International moving its air-conditioning plant from Indiana to Mexico went viral and became a meme for Trump’s “America First” plans. Today, according to CNBC’s David Faber, the Trump team and United Technologies have reached an agreement on keeping close to 1,000 factory jobs at the Carrier plant in Indiana.
As a reminder, this is what happened in February when United Technologies decided to reinforce both of these trends all at once, when the company announced it would be eliminating 1,400 jobs at a Carrier plant in Indianapolis in favor of hiring some new “foreign-born” employees – only these “foreign-born” workers will be hired in Mexico.
“Two Indiana plants that make products for the heating, ventilating and air conditioning industry are shifting their manufacturing operations to Mexico, which will cost about 2,100 workers their jobs,” The Indianapolis Star reports.“Carrier is shuttering its manufacturing facility on Indianapolis’ west side, eliminating about 1,400 jobs during the next three years [and] United Technologies Electronic Controls said that it will move its Huntington manufacturing operations to a new plant in Mexico, costing the northeastern Indiana city 700 jobs by 2018.”
Watch below as 1,000 soon-to-be Donald Trump voters react to the announcement:
Trump frequently railed against the move and pledged to force Carrier to keep its jobs in the U.S. while on the campaign trail.
“Here’s what’s going to happen,” Trump told a crowd in Indianapolis in April. “I’ll get a call from the head of Carrier and he’ll say, ‘Mr. President, we’ve decided to stay in the United States. That’s what’s going to happen — 100 percent.”
And now, as CNBC’s David Faber reports, Trump appears to have been right.
More from the NYT:
On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indiana’s governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carrier’s Indianapolis plant to announce they’ve struck a deal with the company to keep a majority of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.
In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.
On its behalf, Carrier announced on Twitter shortly after the announcement that it was “pleased to have reached a deal with President-elect Trump & VP-elect Pence to keep close to 1,000 jobs in Indy.” We expect more companies to follow in these anti-offshoring footsteps.
We expect more details of the deal tomorrow but as The NY Times reports, roughly 10 percent of United Technologies’ $56 billion in revenues comes from the federal government, with the Pentagon its single largest customer. Its Pratt & Whitney division, for example, supplies the engines for the Air Force’s most advanced fighters and host of other planes. So perhaps some quid pro quo.
On the heels of the reported ‘deal’ with Ford, it seem president-elect Trump is starting to make good on some promises (but we can’t help but wonder why President Obama did not do these things?)
Geopolitical Overhaul: What Will A Post-Obama World Look Like?
Western civilization is broken morally and figuratively so change must happen whether the individual states want it or not. Neither the status quo not the direction are working because they can not work so there must be a change — what we do not know is what will be the result of that change!. However, the world in 2040 will look nothing like the world of today!

KOMMONSENTSJANE – ACLJ CHIEF COUNCIL SENDING LEGAL PAPERS TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE ELECTION PROCESS
They just can not stand losing!

From: Jay Sekulow, ACLJ Chief Counsel <jay.sekulow@email.aclj.org>
Subject: Urgent Announcement
In just hours, we’re sending a major legal letter to protect the integrity of the election process.
Leftist agitators are attempting to delegitimize the presidential election. It’s an anarchist attempt to stop the certification of the election and undermine the constitutional process.
The American people have spoken. Yet, some on the Left are filing lawsuits, demanding recounts in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan when election officials say there’s absolutely no evidence of fraud.
We’re assembling a team of lawyers to ensure the integrity of the election process. We’re ready to dispatch legal teams to key counties. We’re prepared to take any legal action necessary in court.
In just a matter of hours, we’re sending an emergency legal letter to the Pennsylvania election commission demanding that election law be followed and that it stop any attempt to…

OSU Attacker Complained That As A Muslim “I’m Not What The Media Portrays Me To Be”, Slammed US “Interference”
As reported earlier, the man behind today’s gruesome attack at Ohio State University, in which he plowed a car into a crowd of people on campus and subsequently attacked bystanders with a butcher’s knife, and which some suggested was inspired by recent ISIS propaganda, was identified as 19 year old naturalized Somali Refugee Abdul Razak Ali Artan.
OSU cameras caught Artan driving his car onto university property prior the attack; they confirm that he was in the car alone and that he carried out the attack by himself.
While we expect more details will emerge about his background, as well as the motive behind the attack – which local police said was “done on purpose” and are treating the incident as a terrorist act – in the coming hours, a curious media report has emerged in which “The Lantern“, Ohio State’s campus newspaper, ran an interview with Artan on August 25 of this year, in which Artan criticized the school for not having Muslim prayer rooms on campus, and said “I’m a Muslim. It’s not what the media portrays me to be.”
The reason for his concern: “I wanted to pray in the open, but I was kind of scared with everything going on in the media,” he stated.
“I don’t blame them,” he continued. “It’s the media that put that picture in their heads so they’re just going to have it, and it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable.”
Three months later, Abdul – for reasons still unknown – tried to kill nearly a dozen innocent civilians.
Regarding Artan’s motivation, sources told ABC News that authorities are looking at a Facebook posting online to determine if it is connected to the OSU suspect. The posting mentions radical cleric Anwar Awlaki and says, among other things: “I am sick and tired of seeing my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters being killed and tortured EVERYWHERE. … I can’t take it anymore. America! Stop interfering with other countries … [if] you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks.”
Of course, there is an irony in trying to take Americans’ lives to protest America’s “backlash” against Muslims; the person who prevented today’s attack from being a bloody massacre is Officer Alan Horujko who fatally shot Abdul Razak Ali Artan.
Wisconsin Denies Request For Recount By Hand As Stein Threatens To Sue
Finally, a voice of reason emerges in Wisconsin to combat Jill Stein’s useless recount crusade. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin Elections Commission Chairman, Mark Thomsen, who happens to be Democrat, announced earlier that the committee would follow through with Stein’s recount request but denied a request that the recount be conducted by hand. Thomsen cited a 2011 recount that changed the overall vote margin by 300 votes as evidence that the current recount would overturn Trump’s 22,177 vote lead in the state.
Citing the results of a 2011 statewide recount that changed only 300 votes, Elections Commission chairman Mark Thomsen, a Democrat, said this presidential recount is very unlikely to change Republican Donald Trump’s win in the state.
“It may not be 22,177,” said Thomsen, referring to Trump’s win over Democrat Hillary Clinton in the vote count. “But I don’t doubt that the president-elect is going to win that.”
Thomsen dismissed Stein’s claims of problems with the vote as unfounded and misleading. But he directed his toughest criticism to Trump’s unsupported allegations that millions of people voted illegally nationwide, calling them “an insult to the people that run our elections.”
Under the plan adopted Monday, the recount would begin Thursday and could cost $1 million. Of course, we assume that Stein didn’t factor in the incremental costs associated with suing states that call her out for her ridiculous recount efforts. As such, she may need to raise some more money just as the flow of funds seem to have slowed to a trickle…we suspect Hillary supporters have finally caught on to the scam.
Here is the official timeline for the recount per the Wisconsin Election Commission:
Monday, cost estimates and vote tabulation method will be provided by county clerks to the commission by noon. Commission officials will provide estimated statewide costs to the campaigns of both Stein and De La Fuente by the end of the day.Tuesday, the Stein, De La Fuente or both must pay for the recount. Once full payment is received, the commission will issue a recount order to all presidential candidates.
Wednesday, commission staff will hold a teleconference in the morning for all county clerks and canvass members to outline the process and rules of a recount. Since a 24-hour public meeting notice is required for the recount, each county must post its notice by Wednesday.
Thursday, recount begins in every Wisconsin county.
Dec. 12, all county canvass boards must be completed by 8 p.m.
Dec. 13, Elections Commission staff will prepare the official recount canvass certification by 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, this may all be a “best case scenario” for Stein who would get to pocket the $6.3mm raised so far if recount efforts are denied and she decides to walk away.
