Latin American Revolutions Building Against Marxist Socialism

Nicaragua is in crisis and keeps spiraling toward a much more profound bloodier conflict and revolution. President Daniel Ortega is fighting intensely against the rising civil unrest and has lost control of the streets. We are witnessing how “confidence” is the most critical factor in holding governments in power.  Once the people lose that confidence in the management of the government both socially and economically, we see the inevitable rise of civil unrest which can evolve into revolution. José Daniel Ortega Saavedra (born November 11, 1945) has been serving as President since 2007. Previously, he was the leader of Nicaragua from 1979 to 1990, and he was first the Coordinator of the Junta of National Reconstruction (1979–1985) and then became President (1985–1990). As the leader in the Sandinista National Liberation Front, Ortega’s policies in government were Marxist reforms across Nicaragua.

Hundreds of people have died, including a one-year-old baby, and thousands have been injured since anti-government protests began six weeks ago. The government simply opened fire on a Mother’s Day march led by the mothers of victims last week. This demonstrates that far too often the military will kill their own people and never think twice. Officials are blaming “criminal gangs” but that is rejected by the people who argue the violence is one-sided. The police and paramilitary gangs have been using live ammunition against peaceful demonstrators. The victims included a journalist shot as he live-streamed protest events.

For those unfamiliar with the background of Nicaragua,  President Daniel Ortega first came to power as a Marxist guerrilla when the Sandinistas overthrew the president Anastasio Somoza (1925-1980) back in 1979. Somoza was a Nicaraguan politician and officially the 73rd and 76th President of Nicaragua from 1967 to 1972 and then again from 1974 to July 17th, 1979. He was the last member of the Somoza family to be President, ending a dynasty that had been in power since 1936. After being overthrown, Somoza fled Nicaragua but they eventually assassinated him while in exile in Paraguay.

Ortega’s relationship with the United States post-revolution Nicaragua was reasonable so they provided the country with tens of millions of dollars in economic aid. Relations eventually broke down when Ortega began supplying weapons to leftist El Salvadoran rebels. The USA then funded the Contras in a vicious civil war during the Reagan administration. The USA sponsored a peace agreement back in July 1987, which won Costa Rican President Óscar Arias the Nobel Peace Prize for that event. It was this civil war that led to free elections in Nicaragua when Ortega was defeated by Violeta Chamorro in the 1990 presidential election. Nevertheless, Ortega had acquired a taste of power and remained as the opposition leader in politics. It seems once someone has a taste of power, they are always drawn back into it in one way or another just to be relevant again. As the economy did better, Ortega was compelled to gradually moderate his Marxist beliefs to try to gain power again. He publicly created the image of abandoning his Marxism–Leninism philosophy and embracing democratic socialism.

Ortega was an unsuccessful candidate for president in 1996 and 2001. After some 16 years, Ortega won power once again after forging new relationships with the Catholic church and backing a total ban on abortion in addition to soliciting business leaders offering tax exemptions from a Marxist. He took power in 2007 following the 2006 presidential election. But the collapse of the economy in Nicaragua’s key ally Venezuela based upon Marxism combined with the economic crash from 2007 has helped to reveal the brittleness of Ortega’s rule and created the appearance that he does not intend to relinquish power again. Ortega, faced with a collapsing economy, instituted the policy of social security changes requiring more payments and offering lower payouts. This was the beginning of protesters reappearing for once again it was a tax increase to support socialism.

There has been a clear trend toward corruption and authoritarianism that seems to be the hallmark of Marxist regimes. Their economic philosophies do not work so they always turn to authoritarianism to force their dream of Marxist/socialist utopia. Ortega seized control of institutions and eliminated term limits for what was becoming a pretended democratic government. The elections since 2008 were plagued by irregularities that made it appear the election was rigged. The opposition was reduced and rivals were suppressed. Protesters began to openly shout that “Ortega and Somoza are the same thing.”

Today, the dominant view in Nicaragua is that Ortega will voluntarily step down and a revolution is brewing as we are witnessing in Venezuela. When we look at the currency, the dollar has been in a bull market for the past 13 years relentlessly. The next presidential election is due in 2021. Many are demanding it should be moved forward. Unfortunately, the army and police appear to be supporting Ortega and that leads only to bloodshed. Ortega only pretended to have surrendered his Marxist philosophies. Once in office, Ortega once again made alliances with fellow Latin American socialists, particularly Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. Nicaragua also joined the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas which is a leftist organization with the view of a utopian society by force of arms. Up until June 2009, the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas was a regional bloc, organized in 2004, with the goal for creating a socialist political and economic integration within Latin America and the Caribbean. This was conceived by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and was created jointly by Venezuela and Cuba as an alternative to the NAFTA Free Trade arangement. The member countries are Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela. As civil unrest has been rising in Venezuela and now in Nicaragua, the socialist agenda is being exposed as suppressing economy advancement in Latin America.

As of April 19, 2018, Amnesty International and the IACHR of the Organization of American States claim that Ortega has engaged in a violent oppression campaign against protesters. Of course, Ortega has replaced Somoza and as they say, the king is dead, long live the king reflects that revolutionaries typically become the very people they claim to be overthrowing. The Nicaraguan Government officials and Government-owned media have denied these claims. We are witnessing the collapse of socialism around the globe. Nevertheless, as I have stated many times, all violence seems to come from leftists who employ it when their dream of socialism is threatened by the business cycle and its anti-human approach to deny economic freedom.

More of Maxine’s People – Another Democrat Arrested For Death Threats Against Republican Congressman…

Another democrat was arrested earlier today after following the advice of Maxine Waters and threatening political violence against a member of congress.   The target was the campaign staff and office of republican lawmaker Lee Zeldin (NY-1).

In another incident a few days ago, Capitol Hill Police issued an arrest warrant for another Maxine Waters follower who threatened to chop up Senator Rand Paul’s family with an axe.

The threat of political violence from authentic democrats continues with greater frequency.

Right Angle – CALEXIT: Promises, Promises….

Published on Jul 24, 2017

Artists create a comic book in which California enters a war for its independence against an ever-oppressing federal government. The left thinks Bill, Steve, and Scott would respond by calling the artists snowflakes. But Bill sums it up: “Welcome to the Club.” If the left had not given so much power to the federal government, there would be no reason to fight a revolution against it. The Future of the Democrats – A New Age of Socialism to Exploit Everyone Else?

QUESTION: It seems that the Democratic Party is turning really socialist. The DNC Chair Tom Perez said the Socialist Ocasio-Cortez is the “future of our party” and it seems they just ignore the socialist path in places like France which you pointed out their stock market peaked back in 2000 and has not participated in the bull market like just about every other country. They also ignore how socialism destroyed Venezuela. Is this the socialist fight and last stand?

UT

ANSWER: I have said before that we are in the throes of the collapse of socialism. All the socialistic programs are collapsing. That said, the socialists will make a major attempt to force their will upon the majority. They see the economy as a zero-sum game. They do not believe that someone can get rich without exploiting the worker following Marx. They do not believe in human individuality, talent, or economic advancement. Anyone who comes up with a new invention that furthers the economy and creates jobs like the automobile is really exploiting the working class. It is a logic that is just so fundamentally anti-humanity and remains just astonishing. What about a sports player? The salaries they earn also exploit the poor?

The Democratic Party had effectively a knee-jerk reaction to the Great Depression. The soared for that first election and have been in a bear market ever since. Yes, you are correct. France is the MOST socialistic country in Europe. Macrone is trying to break the unions, but it is not easy. The cab drivers encircled Paris and blocked traffic until Uber was declared illegal. Nobody looks at the consumer and how Uber would lower the costs of transportation for the average person rather than cab drivers who are exploiting the people under the socialist flag. Since Uber, restaurants are doing better because people can drink without worry and just call Uber instead of driving.

The truth is that socialism exploits the average person. It robs them of their individuality, freedom, and ability to ever rise up the economic ladder. So while the Democrats are celebrating the 28-year old Ocasio-Cortez as the future of their party, they ignore that the Constitution was supposed to guarantee Equal Protection of the law, with no exception that you make too much money. Even the Ten Commandments prohibits lusting after another’s property. It does not matter that what they preach is anti-human, converts everyone to an economic slave of indentured servitude. How? If you are born American and live in another country, then you still must pay taxes they call your fair share. However, exactly how is this a fair share when you use no such services? Their version of “fair share” is simply you owe taxes as an economic slave for whatever you produce anywhere in the world entitles them to their “fair share” of your productive capacity.

In all honesty, I see no logic in what they preach. It is exploiting other people because they are indistinguishable from a thief who enters your home in the dark of night. They justify what they do in saying you have too much and you should share it also with them.

Well happy 4th of July. Perhaps just maybe one day we will really win our independence and be free of exploitation by socialists who cannot sleep at night dreaming of how they will spend your money. The Democrats want to raise taxes to 70% and reverse everything that Trump has done on taxes. If they did that, I just quit. There is no point in working anymore for them. It is time for Atlas to shru

Diversity in Europe is the Key to Understanding the Eurozone Crisis

COMMENT: Mr. Armstrong; I find your analysis refreshing here in Europe. Sometimes we cannot always look in the mirror objectively. You are correct that perhaps the greatest fault in trying to create the euro has been this idea of forcing one culture upon everyone in Europe. The feelings about the EU are very different in the south compared to the north.

Thank you for being unbiased. It does help to see things through different eyes.

PD

REPLY: Perspective is everything. When I speak to people in government in Italy, they see the EU as oppressive and believe their country is now occupied with the will of Brussels being imposed against their own culture. I have lived in Europe and I have probably spent 1/3rd of my life there. What I LOVED about Europe was indeed the diverse culture. Language has been the greatest stumbling block. Even myself, very short trips running around between countries puts a different strain on you. In just 10 days, I was in Germany, then flew to Zurich, then down to Milan, over the Paris, off to London, and then back to Frankfurt. While I was checking into a hole in Paris, there was a Japanese couple trying to check in and the hotel had nobody to speak Japanese. I then stepped in trying to help. After a few days, you try to speak and a missmash comes out of several languages combined and you are so tired, it gets hard to keep flipping between the languages. I LOVE Europe for that, but not on a business trip of rushing around in the middle of madness. Even getting cash from an ATM varied depending on the country you were in. In Switzerland, 1,000 CHF was no problem. In Paris, €200 euros was max.

There is absolutely no open question that the European Union remains a very diverse Union. There are significant differences in the concerns of the people in the EU as a whole. I have explained that Southern Europe got the worse deal. They converted their debts to Euro and then the Euro rose from 80 cents to $1.60 doubling their national debts and the austerity policy forced economic recession upon their economies. In southern European countries, the YouGov polls showed that unemployment was seen as the major issue, but this was less so elsewhere in northern Europe where the number one issue was terrorism.

The terrorism was viewed as a major issue in Britain, France and Germany, where the terrorist acts have been primarily targeted. The number one concern was health and social security when you turned to Poland and it was a top concern also in northern European countries. Lithuania was the only place where inflation was the most important current issue. Sweden was the only country where crime came in the top three, but this was related to the immigration issue which is beginning to create a new Separatist movement there as well.

While the whole thing with global warming seems to be mostly confined to northern Europe rather than southern. Nevertheless, the refugee crisis, of immigration crisis as well as rising terrorism as a result, are clearly the two top issues across the EU as a whole. The YouGov poll is indeed showing the diversity among the cultures within the Eurozone. This idea that one central government can dictate policies to be imposed on the whole is a failed model that has brought about the communist revolutions. Even in the USA, there are 12 branches of the Federal Reserve BECAUSE after the Panic of 1907, it was realized that there was a great diversity economically throughout the United States. We have called it the Texas-New York Arbitrage for when commodities boom, New York suffers. That diversity was suppressed by Roosevelt to impose one central policy on the nation to fight World War II. It was never returned to normal and this once again is fueling regional discontent despite the single language. ONE-SIZE does not fit all and Europe copies the Roosevelt model rather than understand the history behind the economy. It was the diversity that made America work. The same is true in Europe. You cannot force cultural change to this ONE-SIZE fits all policy. It will fuel the separatists as it is doing in the United States to a lessor degree driven more by left v right politics

Soros Sneaking Around to Meet with the President of Spain off the Official Agenda

Sources in Spain have confirmed that the new president, Pedro Sánchez, met with George Soros secretly last Wednesday afternoon in Moncloa. They met around 7 PM for about 1.5 hours. What is strange is that Soros had two other unidentified people with him and the meeting was NOT on the public schedule. Soros has been pushing his Open Society and people do not criticize him because he has too much money. They just smile and say, “You are right.” Then they hold out their hands.

As they say, if you want honesty, fairness, and a straight up deal where you get what you pay for without pretense, go to a brothel. If you want to really get screwed, go to politics where there is plenty of corruption, lies, back stabbing, and backroom deals off the books

Andrés Manuel López Obrador (“AMLO”) Easily Wins Mexican Presidential Election – Hugo Chavez 2.0 Now Running Mexico….

The official announcement is coming momentarily.  All other candidates have conceded.  Looks like Andrés Manuel López Obrador, an avowed soft-Marxist, will EASILY end up with 53 to 59% of the vote and is the next President of Mexico:

Primary platform points:  ♦Amnesty to all drug cartels.  ♦No longer will work with U.S. immigration enforcement.  ♦Nationalize oil industry.  ♦Farm subsidies. ♦Elimination of multinational corporate influence on farming.  ♦Support and assistance for economic growth plan: using •mass migration of Mexican nationals into Southern U.S., •create AmeriMex border region, and •remittance of earnings back to Mexico as initiative for rapid domestic economic growth.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Leftist outsider Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador won Mexico’s presidential election handily on Sunday, exit polls showed, setting the stage for a government that will inherit tense relations with Washington and the scrutiny of nervous investors.

Jose Antonio Meade, the candidate of the ruling centrist Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, conceded defeat to Lopez Obrador, a 64-year-old former Mexico City mayor, within minutes of the polls closing.

“For the good of Mexico, I wish him the very best of success,” Meade said in a speech. Lopez Obrador’s other rivals also conceded that the race was lost.

Lopez Obrador is expected to move Mexico in a more nationalist direction as he becomes the first leftist to rule the country in decades. He has pledged to reduce economic dependence on the United States.  (read more)

López Obrador Wins Mexico 43.7%

López Obrador has won Mexico but its political system is flawed as is most parliamentary type systems. It allows for coalitions to be formed from very different parties. The French have a run off with the two highest winning candidates thus forcing the people to choose between the two. The problem with the Mexico election lies in the promises. The people were fed up with the corruption and they just wanted to throw out whoever is in power. However, Obrador is more like Bernie Sanders. There is NO POSSIBLE means available to him to pay for his ambitious slate of social programs. He will raise taxes dramatically and we will see Mexico spiral downward into 2020. He is illprepared to get rid the government of corruption when the bureacracy is the problem. In fact, many who were deeply involved in the corruption saw the shifting trends and were a part of Obrador’s campaign. It is also not likely that he will make a dent in the unyielding violence of the drug war. The people are fed up with the drug wars which has escalated out of control. There were more homicides last year in Mexico than any time in the last two decades.

The US dollar is still poised to rise against the Peso in the years ahead.
