Somalia is a war-torn country in east Africa.

Over the course of two decades, the federal government’s Refugee Resettlement Program has left Minnesota, especially the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, with 30 mosques and the largest population of Somalis in the United States. Many of the Somali refugees remain dependent on welfare, while the young men become radicalized by unscrupulous imams.

Leo Hohmann reports for WND, Sept. 5, 2014, that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said that while many of the Somali transplants in Minnesota have been hard-working citizens, the experiment has been costly for her state. Too many Somalis remain dependent on public assistance. Somali youth are also being radicalized into jihad.

Based on these and other dubious claims, the EPA issued rules shutting down hundreds of coal-fired power plants and preventing new ones from being built. Then it said the regulations will bring “ancillary” health benefits from general air pollution reductions, beyond the nearly 90% reduction in unhealthy U.S. emissions since 1970, even as coal-based electricity more than doubled.

NASA announced a day or two ago that Arctic sea ice was “the sixth lowest on record”

What they meant by this is that Arctic sea ice is second highest of the past decade, and the minimum was up 60% from two years ago.

Ebola Crisis: Yes, We Need To Help But Is Obama Ready To Keep Americans Safe?

20140806_EbolaAmericansAmerica is silently acquiescing to President Obama’s extraordinarily expensive and flawed plan to fight Ebola in West Africa.  On Tuesday, Obama announced he is committing $763 million dollars and 3,000 military personnel to taming the outbreak that so far has killed 2,400 people.

Though help is urgently needed there, the plan does too little to protect Americans.

Obama said nothing about temporarily banning commercial air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, in order to help prevent Ebola from coming here. Middle School Reading Lists 100 Years Ago vs. Today

In examining these lists, I noticed three important differences between the reading content of these two eras:

1. Time Period

One of the striking features of the Edina list is how recent the titles are. Many of the selections were published in the 21st century. In fact, only four of the selections are more than 20 years old.

In comparison, over half of the titles on the first list were at least 20 years old in 1908, with many of them averaging between 50 to 100 years old.

Older is not necessarily better, but the books on the first list suggest that schools of the past were more likely to give their students time-tested, classic literature, rather than books whose popularity may happen to be a passing fad.

2. Thematic Elements

Wake up America!


Muslims there Muslims here and soon they will be everywhere,
supported by W and O too, soon they will be next door to you!

On 9/11 al-Qaeda showed their bloody hand, now we have them in our land,
and their spawn across our borders flow with all their weapons in tow!

Islam creates Al-Qaeda, HAMAS and Hezbollah to which all follow Sharia Law,
which is Jihad and the Muslim Brotherhood which are all — no dam good!

We were asleep in our comfy beds when ISIS showed up wanting our heads,
finding Alice in the written arts gives them their goddess the Queen of Hearts!

This is no game but a nightmare come true as neighbors our heads hew,
and killing our sons and raping our daughters who to them are not but fodder!

Mean while the lead from behind POTUS is on the links getting all his kinks,
and his cabinet are all reading Mao’s little red book and emulate Mao’s look!

No one in sight with a clue of the fight and the coming storm now full born,
and no one at the helm for Sulu, Spock, and Kirk are gone so who has the conn?

We need a new generation prepared to show their fist and stop all the Jihadist,
Millennials maybe, if they find the path that will lead them to stop the wrath?

Black Tuesday of Climate Science

Today I will review the timeline of the above WMO 1999 graph in the light of the ClimateGate (CG) letters. The main events took place on Tuesday, November 16th, 1999.

Things start rolling 9 AM (UK time), when Tim Osborn sends  the new Briffa and recalibrated Jones (1998) time series to Phil Jones along with the suggestion to hide the decline.

It is ready calibrated in deg C wrt. 1961-90, against the average Apr-Sep land temperature north of 20N.  It goes from 1402 to 1994 – but you really ought to replace the values from 1961 onwards with observed temperatures due to the decline.

Twenty minutes later Jones writes  to the MBH crew (cc Briffa and Osborn) explaining exactly what the graph will look like.
