This is way worse than any of us thought!
The hot topic in Washington is that Jarrett has been behind the attempt to (1) investigate Trump under the pretense of National Security and (2) has been the one also orchestrating the insurgency protests to overthrow Trump. Jarrett even lived in the White House and dined with the Obamas. She has now also moved into Obama’s nerve center behind his OFA designed to overthrow Trump. We do know for a fact that she has been living with the Obamas, which is very strange. One would think you would cherish your privacy.
Here is Jarrett with Obama and Hillary. She is a real bulldog and will not let go until she destroys Trump even if it takes down the government, for that is what is unfolding. They seem to think that taking down Trump will make everything better – but that is their hope to preserve the elite. The bitterness in politics that is building has not been seen since the civil war. I am waiting for a brawl on the floor of Congress soon. That would be perfectly in line with the breakup of the United States and potentially even civil war. We have lost all civility in politics. The left has historically ALWAYS been the source of revolution. When Obama was elected, the right simply accepted it and moved on. I remember when Jimmy Carter was elected to everyone’s shock. Hey, there were no protests and vows to overthrow the government. I simply traded gold and made a fortune. You went with the markets. Yet when the left loses, they fear Trump and the Republicans will dismantle their socialist agenda. That is what is at stake for them. So Obama has refused to leave Washington and has been engaged with his organization that accepted money from Soros. Where is the press now? Is anyone looking at who is funding the protests and the links to Soros? Of course not. The man who has been banned from his home country – sounds similar to Karl Marx’s flight from Germany. Judging from the hate mail I get from the left, obviously I have hit a nerve.
It appears that we are headed back to the mid-19th century when brawls broke out on the floor of Congress over slavery. It was when members of the House debated the Kansas Territory’s pro-slavery issue late into the night of February 5-6, 1858 when shortly before 2 a.m. the most infamous floor brawl in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives erupted. Pennsylvania Republican Galusha Grow and South Carolina Democrat Laurence Keitt exchanged insults, then blows. “In an instant the House was in the greatest possible confusion,” the Congressional Globe reported. More than 30 Members joined the melee. Northern Republicans and Free Soilers joined ranks against Southern Democrats. Speaker James Orr, a South Carolina Democrat, gaveled furiously for order and then instructed Sergeant-at-Arms Adam J. Glossbrenner to arrest noncompliant Members.
When the House reconvened two days later, a coalition of Northern Republicans and Free Soilers narrowly blocked referral of the Lecompton Constitution to the House Territories Committee. Kansas entered the Union in 1861 as a free state.
This 1858 brawl was by no means the only such violence. In 1798 the battle ground was federalism v State rights. The 1798 brawl took place when Roger Griswold, who was a Federalist Congressman from Connecticut, got into a heated debate with Matthew Lyon, a Vermont Democratic-Republican. Griswold called Lyon a scoundrel, which was very derogatory back then. Lyon then spit in Griswold’s face and a brawl quickly erupted. A few weeks later, Griswold attacked Lyon on the Senate floor with a cane and then Lyon went after him with a pair of fire tongs. As a result, Lyon was the first Congressman to be charged with an ethics violation due to the spitting episode. The Ethics Committee recommended he be censured, but the matter was ultimately dropped.
We appear to be headed back to such violent times. Never in the history of our nation has any president refused to leave and sought to disrupt the government of his successor. Obama is unwilling to accept democracy. This is a taste of what is to come. He will fuel the destruction and collapse of the United States in the years ahead.
Understanding that one must watch the world to ascertain the trend even domestically is critical – this is what separates a domestic trader from a professional hedge fund manager. You simply have to know what is happening out there on all fronts. Connecting the dots allows you to see the full picture of what exactly you are dealing with.
However, understanding what is taking place in Ukraine is more than a mere subject of depressing corruption and war. What you are looking at is how people respond to events, for when similar events unfold here, since we are all human, we will respond in a similar manner.
There are those who see this as purely a capitalistic system that we live in today. We by no means enjoy such freedom. Communism owns everything and you work for the benefit of the state. Socialism is where you own the property, but the state dictates how much you are allowed to keep from your earnings. Capitalism is where we have the freedom to be what we want. You hear claims on how Hillary was for the middle class yet all the big bankers, hedge funds, and foreign governments supported her. Was this to help the middle class or themselves? Corrupt politicians pretend to care for people and then sell loopholes to the highest bidder. This is not capitalism – this is an oligarchy.
Capitalism would be economic freedom and to achieve that it requires TERM LIMITS, end of political donations, and the end or over regulation such as there were 7 agencies that all approved the CDOs the bankers wanted. Not a single one reviewed anything with an eye on the economy.
This is the two-tier level of importance in observing the world around you. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS, if we just for once learn how everything works. Then and only then can we take the next step in evolution.
COMMENT: Experience is everything. Your interpretation of your model is also invaluable because you have grown up through life observing the order within chaos it has revealed. There is no one who can dispute the countless forecasts you have made right down to the Dow would make a new high from the depths of despair in 2009 to 2011. My condolences for your friend Larry. You were his mentor as he always said.
REPLY: It takes experience to hit the target and that requires practice. Anyone can make one great call – it is just luck. To be consistent in forecasting DEMANDS experience. The problem with education is the old saying – those who can just do it and those who cannot teach. Larry was a friend of mine from the early 1980s. He was a student of the markets, but also traded. Nobody without trading experience could ever be an analyst worth anything.
It is a sad thing as we journey through life to lose our friends along the way. I have been very fortunate to have known so many people over the years both famous like Maggie Thatcher and Milton Friedman to people from the industry such as Manny Stoler, Larry Edelson, Edward (Buz) Schwartz who was the first 24-hour all-business radio station in the country broadcasting financial advice and information to investors throughout Southern California on KMNY-AM (1600), a.k.a. “Money Radio”, to my partner who was my best friend, Jack King, who opened our operations in Japan.
I often think of my friends who are no longer here. My mentor was Socrates. His words to the court that sentenced him to death were profound. Death was either one of two things. It was either the migration of the soul to where he would meet all his old friends, or it was like a midsummer night’s sleep, so peaceful, one is not even disturbed by a dream. Either way – do your best. I hope it will be former. I do miss many of my old friends.
This is true and getting worse as the local state and federal governments need more and more money to pay for their employees retirements; which are first class and very expensive.

Providing some much needed details on her plans to redenominate the French currency, should she win the French presidential election in under two months, on Wednesday Marine le Pen told RTL radio should would introduce a new franc at a rate of one-to-one to the euro and then allow it to fluctuate, despite previously saying that any new national currency would continue to be pegged to a basket of currencies. She said the new French franc would likely fall “against whatever currency Germany uses”, making French car exports more competitive, but said it might rise against the currency in Italy, a country she said would also be better off without the euro.
Incidentally, many agree with Le Pen, and according to Paddy Power, Italy now has even odds of leaving the EU before 2025, far higher than even perpetually depressed Greece.
But back to Le Pen, who as Bloomberg writes has expressed often contradictory views on the issue throughout the campaign. At first she wouldn’t even say she proposed leaving the common currency, instead talking about restoring “monetary sovereignty.” She’s recently talked more openly about leaving the euro, but without many details on how it would be done. In her RTL interview, Le Pen wasn’t clear if she envisioned a completely free or controlled float.
Some have been quick to mock Le Pen’s vacillation on the issue: “Monday she’s out of the euro, Tuesday she’s not, Wednesday she pegs, Thursday she fluctuates,” said Patrick Artus, chief economist at Natixis Securities. “It’s nonsense and it will never be implemented. We have to stop taking her economic pretensions seriously.”
Le Pen left room for interpretation on the euro when she unveiled her 144-point program a month ago, saying she’d “return to monetary sovereignty” without mentioning the euro. An adviser explained at the time that the new franc would be pegged to a basket of currencies comparable to the European Currency Unit, which preceded the euro. However, last week, in a speech about economic policy, she was more explicit about leaving the euro, and at a conference with a French business lobby in Paris Tuesday she said the single currency “was unsustainable because the discrepancies” between member states are too wide, as Bloomberg reported.
She denied that leaving the euro and imposing what she calls “intelligent protectionism” would cut off trade, saying France traded better before joining the European Union. “If I want a new national money, it’s to help us set off to conquer the world,” she said. She didn’t mention France’s debt Wednesday, but in the past has said it will be denominated in the new currency. As reported previously, some have indeed taken Le Pen’s warning seriously as France has some $1.7 trillion in debt issued under French law, which would permit her government to change the denomination currency if she so choose, effectively wiping out most of French debt.
Yet while Le Pen has flip-floped on the topic of how the franc would treated under her regime, she has been consistent in her pledge to revoke the central bank’s independence to allow her to print more of the new currency to fund her policies (spoiler alert: that does not lead to a happy ending).
Meanwhile, according to recent polls Le Pen would win the most votes in the April 23 first round of the presidential election but heavily lose the May 7 second round against independent Emmanuel Macron. Tuesday’s daily Ifop poll put her at 26 percent and Macron at 25 percent in the first round, with Macron winning the run-off 61.5-38.5 percent.
On RTL, she attacked former Rothschild banker Macron as “a pure product of the banking system, of savage globalization.”
In the two-hour interview Wednesday, she also said she’d keep the Fessenheim nuclear power plant open and maintain tax advantages for diesel cars, saying pollution in France was more due to wind carrying emissions from German coal power plants. Asked about International Women’s Day, she said the main challenge facing women in France today is the rise of Islam. Le Pen also said that should the legal crackdown against her accelerate, she would simply not respect a judicial summons before the election, and she would refuse to be questioned by investigative judges until after the presidential election, adding that “the justice system is being manipulated to influence the presidential election”
Refuting speculation that after infuriating first democrats with his handling of Hillary Clinton’s email server scandal, and then by demanding that the DOJ deny Trump’s allegations that Obama had bugged the Trump Tower, he may quit prematurely, FBI Director James Comey made it clear where he stands on the issue: “You’re stuck with me for about another six and a half years,” Comey said on Wednesday at a cybersecurity conference hosted by the FBI and Boston College, referring to the amount of time remaining in his 10-year appointment to the post.
Concerns over Comey’s tenure re-emerged after he again found himself in the center of a political storm, this time over probes into Russian hacking of the 2016 election and his request on Sunday night that the Justice Department officials reject President Donald Trump’s claims that his predecessor “tapped” his phones (three days later the DOJ has still not complied with Comey’s request). Comey is among those invited to testify at the March 20 hearing over Russian “hacking” of the US elections.
As Bloomberg reports, Comey didn’t address the controversy during his speech, which was focused on cybersecurity threats, or in response to questions from the audience afterward. He did, however, say that hacking attacks are moving beyond just stealing money and data to affect the U.S. economy and security. “They’re increasingly attacks on our fundamental rights, the rights guaranteed to us as free people especially here in this great country,” Comey said.
The FBI director also called on companies to report hacking attacks to the FBI – perhaps here he was referring to the DNC which inexplicable sat on news that it had been allegedly hacked by Russians without referring it to the FBI – and develop relationships with the bureau before attacks happen. “The majority of intrusions in this country are not reported to us,” he said. ‘It’s a Crime’
Companies shouldn’t retaliate by trying to hack back against their attackers, Comey said. “Don’t do it; it’s a crime,” Comey said. “It’s not only against the law but it runs the risk of tremendous confusion in a crowded space.”
He also complained about the increasing ease with which smartphones and other devices encrypt the contents of their data, although as Wikileaks broke in a scandalous report yesterday, the CIA does not appear to have much of a problem when it comes to circumventing personal privacy and security. Not the FBI, allegedly, because as Comey said, from October to December 2016, about 1,200 of 2,800 devices seized by law enforcement couldn’t be accessed by FBI personnel due to encryption. “The advent of default, ubiquitous strong encryption is making more and more of the room in which the FBI investigates dark,” he said.Perhaps this was meant to be an overture toward smartphone makers and consumers to be more tolerant of potential FBI snooping and to remove password protections altogether.
But more interesting than even his tenure, was the FBI’s take on yesterday’s Wikileaks data dump, which as we reported, revealed that CIA hackers have developed tools letting them break into devices to monitor conversations and messages before they can be encrypted. Not surprisingly, Comey didn’t comment on the disclosure but said using hacking tools to break into phones isn’t always efficient or dependable.
“While having other technical tools can be useful, it’s incredibly expensive and it doesn’t scale,” he said. “It can’t be used broadly because it’s perishable.” He did not provide a reasonable alternativ
