The Chinese Cultural Revolution was “mass murder of a country’s heritage”.  (Enemies of the People, Anne F. Thurston, 1987, p. 105).

This is the third article in a series (links to 1 & 2) that compares today’s American Cancel Culture Revolution to China’s Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1962-1976).

In the mid-1960’s, teaching the history of Communism in America’s public schools generally went from seldom to hardly ever. It declined further after the official collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) on 31 December 1991. Today’s BLM/Antifa street “protesters” likely know nothing about the combined body count of Stalin’s Russia and Mao’s China.

Cancel Culture’s Political Ideology

Karl Marx, who likeness (above) is carried by China’s Red Guards, was the ideological founder of Communism. The three founders of Black Lives Matter (BLM) are self-described Marxist-Leninists ideologues.  They may know what that means, but most of their street puppets don’t have a clue.

Marxist-Maoist is a more operationally-accurate moniker. The BLM/Antifa mobs more closely mirror the havoc of China’s Red Guard than they do of Russia’s Red Guards (Krasnaya Gvardiya) who were armed workers who took to the streets during the 1917 Russian Revolution. They were the street muscle for the Bolsheviks.

Politicians Support Riots

Democratic Party leadership kneels and bows in support of America’s Cancel Culture Revolution. They are its political-class base.

The Chinese Cultural Revolution was led by China’s Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong.  His was the only support the Revolution needed.

China: On May 25, 1966 Nie Yuanzi, a female academic at Beijing University, put-up this big character poster titled “Ignite the Cultural Revolution in the universities.” It worked. In part, it read:

“At present, the people of the whole nation, in a soaring revolutionary spirit that manifests boundless love for the Party and Chairman Mao, and their inveterate hatred for the sinister anti-Party anti-socialist gang, are making a vigorous and great Cultural Revolution. They are struggling thoroughly to smash the attacks of the reactionary sinister gang, in defense of the Party’s Central Committee and Chairman Mao…All revolutionary intellectuals, now is the time to go into battle! Let us unite, holding high the great red banner of Mao Zedong Thought.”

America: The U.S equivalent to Nie’s poster was the photo, that went viral, of a Minneapolis Police Officer with his knee on the neck of George Floyd.
America’s version of China’s big character posters is the giant sign painted on a street near the White House.  And elsewhere.

Red Guards Born In The Academe

China: “It was among China’s young that Nie Yuanzi’s big character poster struck the most resonant chord, the young who has provided the movement with its most enthusiastic support.  For the Cultural Revolution was for the students in China’s middle schools [last 3 yrs. pre-college] and universities a truly exciting opportunity to demonstrate that they were revolutionary through and through.” (Enemies of the People, p. 158)

Why was it easy for China to recruit students as Red Guards?  Easy answer: They were prepped for it.

“Following Liberation (1949), the Communist Party of China had moved cautiously but inexorably to take control of the country’s universities…t’s efforts, within the universities were directed on the one hand to instilling everyone within them with a basic foundation in the Marxist-Leninist ideology that would guide the new government’s policies and on the other toward reforming the thought of the older, more senior university faculty…”[T]he thought campaign stood as a harbinger of the politics that would become increasingly frequent in the decade and more to come: the politics of persecution and slander, the politics, alas, of hate.” (Enemies of the People, p. 59) 

America: Where does all the hatred from screaming young, mostly white, adults on the streets of Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, and other American cities come from? 

Answer: From several sources, but largely from (1) public K-12 education and universities staffed by professors with an overwhelmingly progressive, socialist, political bias; and, (2) a media –—entertainment, print, and televised—that, since the election of Trump, finds little to herald as of valuable in America.  

The Progressive Movement began capturing America’s educational system seven decades before the Chinese Communist Party moved in that direction after coming to power in 1949. 

According to MarketWatch.com, the book on economics most frequently assigned today to American college students is The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx. With half as many, the second most assigned is Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations. 

 Intimidation by Guilt Shaming

Unlike the virtue-signaling of America’s overtly pro-BLM companies, and professional sports teams, in Mao’s China virtue-signaling didn’t win favor with the Red Guards. Showing weakness was, generally, not rewarded.

Absent Law Enforcement Fans the Flames

China (America): “The military (local police departments)…intervened more often on the side of order than on the side of the left..[W]hen commanders (Police Chiefs) of the Peoples Liberation Army ordered their troops to fire on revolutionary rebels [mid-1967] and denounced the rebels (BLM/Antifa) as counterrevolutionaries, the central military leadership (Mayor, City Council) in Peking prohibited the military of further use of weapons against the revolutionaries…The result of the reining in of the military was the eruption and spread of violence and disorder.” (Enemies of the People, pp. 190-191)

Where Does Operational Funding Originate

China: Funding for China’s Red Guards was not difficult. No Uber fees. No hotel bills. Only a few inexpensive restaurants. Often only with the clothing on their backs. They traveled light and cheap. Today’s Red Guards with phones and helmets would not last three days in China’s Red Guards.

In China, they traveled for free on the trains. Often walked long distances between cities and villages. Frequently invited themselves into the homes of those they perceived as counterrevolutionaries, taking their food, and anything of value they wanted. No police interference.

Consequently, they plundered with impunity. At times, their destructive behavior brought impoverishment, and, in some cases, even death from the sustained beatings of many Chinese.  And that prompted numerous suicides.

America: Where does the money come from to fund BLM/Antifa?

There is no straighter path to destroy a nation’s culture than to render its people ignorant of their history. And America is well on the way there.

No, I am not saying that every parent’s child is a communist. What I am saying is that there are enough young people out there with either an affinity or a sympathy for the communist system to make us all very concerned. The polls show it, the rioting proves it.

According to a 2019 Gallup poll, 51% of adults, 18 to 29 view socialism positively, while 49% view capitalism positively.

Parents, especially of strong Christian faith, can hardly believe what comes out of the mouths of their children. College-age young adults go into university as bright eyed, eager-to-learn fledglings and come out bitter, angry, under achievers.

Why so much of our youth has turned to Communism/Socialism is a story of the last 100 years. Please, don’t give me that Democratic-Socialist drivel. It’s just another Leftist slogan to misdirect.

A group of Marxist intellectuals in the 1920s got together in Germany with the purpose of spreading the Russian Communist Revolution in the West, especially in America. This group of Marxists founded the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt to study ways and methods to spread communism. It became known as the Frankfurt School.

At the same time, Hitler was running roughshod over Germany with his fascism, much of it copied from Mussolini in Italy. Although fascism and communism are kissing cousins, each had a different scapegoat. Communism used class, fascism used race. In any case, Hitler wasn’t going to have it. He wanted no competition.

By 1933, Hitler had those who were involved in the Frankfurt School deported. They found a welcome home at Columbia University in New York City. They realized early on that what worked in Russia was not going to be accepted in the West, certainly in the United States, because of its strong Judeo-Christian roots and its vast middle-class…the group of people who were not rich, but definitely not poor. The middle-class had little reason to revolt. They had cars, homes with white picket fences, and were clinging to their guns and religion.

These subversives decided, brilliantly, that breaking down the culture was needed for the populous to accept communism. It included breaking down the Christian foundation, destroying the family structure, feminism, sex education, promoting atheism, hedonism, free sex, abortion, homosexuality, mass migration, globalism, multiculturalism, environmentalism, you name it. They advanced anything that would destroy the traditional family, culture and our moral foundation. Their goal was to set people free to drift, leaving generations of people with no anchor with which to tie on to accept the promise of a collectivist utopia.

It spread to every major university, junior college, high school, middle school, elementary school, and in many cases, preschool. There is an Institute for Social Research in almost every major university in the United States. Their teaching has been disguised in subjects like Critical Theory, a tool to demonize Christianity, capitalism, and Western civilization. Every student in almost every school today is being exposed to this trash, and in a positive light. Considering the basement level of morality now taught in our schools, Hollywood, and in many modern homes, it is no wonder so many of the young are breaking windows, shooting cops, destroying private property, knocking down statues of people their teachers taught them to hate and some they don’t even know.

The education system in America today has the stench of almost 100 years of indoctrination akin to re-education camps in communist filth. Several generations lost to ignorance and degradation. Disneyland has LGBTQ Day, teachers are being fired or subject to a Reign Of Terror for being conservative, resisting the new morality, the new normal. Students are punished academically and socially for not joining in the sedition. Many libraries and even some U.S. embassies fly the homosexual flag. Most students are not taught anything close to the American history we were taught. And when they are taught our history, it is in a negative context.

Those political leaders whose lust for power has overruled their desire for public service has now taken over a major part of our political and judicial system, and almost an entire political party. These are the 60s terrorists and their children, and students. They watch quietly with approval as people are murdered and cities are torn apart as they scheme how to use the crisis to their advantage. Only mere pockets of sanity are left. Meanwhile the people in the media, Hollywood, and the Deep State, having attended the same miserable schools, equally indoctrinated, give their blessing. And all the while the church in America says and does what it has done for generations…nothing.

There may not have been a communist behind every bush like Joe McCarthy had us believe, but take a look now. Old Joe was right after all.

Obama made the stoking anti-Asian Trump accusation in an event with LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman.

‘We already saw this guy win once,’ he said. ‘After he bragged about physically assaulting women — and that didn’t seem to matter. So, enough said. Let’s get to work.’  (Daily Mail)

Getting to work Obama-style means with actor/activist George Clooney to fundraise for his ex-VP presumptive Democrat presidential nominee, Joe Biden.

Folks left sleepless in Seattle because of months-long violence by Black Lives Matter and antifa posing as “peaceful protesters”, nor the millions lying awake at night wondering if they’ll ever be let out from lockdown to get back to their jobs don’t matter, only Barack Obama does.

“During his conversation with Pritzker, Obama spoke out about how Donald Trump has a support base that ‘filters out any contradictory information.’

“‘It’s just glued to Fox News and Breitbart and Limbaugh and just this conservative echo chamber — and so, they’re going to turn out to vote,’ Obama said, according to the Times.

“‘What he has unleashed and what he continues to try to tap into is the fears and anger and resentment of people who, in some cases, really are having a tough time and have seen their prospects, or communities where they left, declining. And Trump tries to tap into that and redirect in nativist, racist, sexist ways,’ he continued.

Comically enough, during his Clooney event, Obama was routinely interrupted by a dog barking, while Clooney appeared to have the same problem, even accidentally muting himself on occasion.

“According to event attendees, after the former president asked him a question, Clooney apologized for the barking and joked that his dogs ‘must be Tea Party members because every time you started talking about Obamacare’ the barking would start.” (Daily Mail)

Maybe it was, Obama’s handpicked presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, who, in desperate attempts at publicity, barked like a dog back in the 2016 campaign.

Sam Coonrod is a REAL HERO

How dare he say such things!?!! Well, for starters, it’s because they are TRUE. A lot of Americans still look at trendy political correctness as an ongoing muzzle and dare to anyone who would openly proclaim THE TRUTH. There was once a time in this great land, in the not-too-distant past, when drivers in a pouring rainstorm would actually heed—and then stop to thank—the lone, soaked man standing on the roadside with his rough-but-readable “BRIDGE IS OUT!” sign. Those days are solid gone. Today, such truly concerned people are ridiculed and dismissed as ‘extremist nutcases’ or ‘conspiracy theorists.’ And more and more people are just hell-bent to turn up the radio and drive off the bridge.

I could spend a whole article lauding and applauding the late Professor Adams. But here is another name for you … Sam Coonrod. Probably a few more know of Sam Coonrod than knew about Professor Mike. Just a few days ago, when the San Francisco Giants/LA Dodgers baseball teams all knelt around the diamond prior to the game, as the BLM ‘moment of solidarity’ happened, Mr. Coonrod kept standing. He gave three reasons for not kneeling with the rest of the 60+ other players. He said, “I’m a Christian … And I just can’t get on board with a couple of things that I have read about Black Lives Matter,” … “How they lean toward Marxism and they’ve said some negative things about the nuclear family” (and) “I’m a Christian. I just believe I can’t kneel before anything besides God—Jesus Christ.” Most of the liberal press didn’t make a big deal about Coonrod’s stance. CFP immediately spread the word. Many didn’t mention it at all. Satan certainly didn’t want people to see or hear any of that.

I was so proud of Mr. Coonrod. I made my own meme and posted it on my Facebook site. Big white letters on a solid black background—it read: “Sam Coonrod is a REAL HERO. There is NO possibility of cash or contract in standing for JESUS!” I wrote that because Sam is a ‘believer.’ He has chosen to trust Jesus for his Salvation. Jesus is the “narrow way.” (Matthew 7:13-14) And taking a stand for Jesus will not net you a multimillion dollar contract with a tennis shoe company. The major league ball clubs will not reconfigure their business strategies around Jesus people, because Jesus—His name, person and ministry—does nothing to enhance ticket sales. Okay, so I launched my meme to see who might spread it around. All my settings were such that anybody, friend or not, could see and share it. But it did not move an inch. It was, for nearly a day, invisible to my roster of friends. So I started sending the meme, one by one, to the people I knew. Not a share resulted. I contacted friends who simply could not find it.

Prior to my association with Canada Free Press, I used to write for a comparatively huge American outfit. Just as I do today, I couldn’t then seem to write too many articles without somewhere mentioning Jesus, God or the Bible. I was happy to learn that I was one of their most popular writers. That was right before an editors’ meeting in which it was decided that I would not make the following year’s cut. An editor-friend confided to me that I had been labeled as an ‘extremist Christian’ (even though I had never bombed anybody). Canada Free Press has more supported my First Amendment rights than did the big American publisher. And now, ironically, the largely liberal Internet, along with venues like Facebook, regularly ally with the forces of darkness that don’t like Christ or conservatism. And so Christian conservatism, like the original America that fought wars and sacrificed sons for our liberties, is really standing on death row. Our days are numbered, because the very real devil knows his time is short.

Ever try to argue Constitutional Republican values with socialists/communists? Veterans of such confrontations will attest to how regularly the leftists will drag the Bible into the debate. The moment they sense you are leaning toward Christianity, they will pipe up with, “You know the early Christians themselves were communists! They absolutely advocated sharing all things in common!” But your immediate response should be that the early Christian church lived well communally ONLY because God’s loving and peacekeeping Holy Spirit shed generosity abroad in the hearts of those early, true Christians. Their ‘commune-ism’ had nothing to do with a few power-hungry leaders marshaling the slaves of a Draconian, state-overseen collective which had been forcefully containerized to guarantee the safe reign of some wannabe dictators in private jets. I mean, comparing Marx, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Maduro, etc. to Paul and the Apostles is nigh unto blasphemy. But these days the hyper-caffeinated baby philosophers – a.k.a. ‘snowflakes’—are fearless in their ignorant vainglory.

More and more people are truly awakening to the fact that the group called “Black Lives Matter” has zip to do with the life or quality of life of any black person. The BLM is entirely a crowbar by which stupid, tv-mesmerized (mostly white) people can feel morally righteous. We are watching Americans dive into believing that this is some sort of new ‘United Way’ or ‘March of Dimes’ method of pitching money at a problem that could and should have died during the eight years of president 44. But the Obamas did everything they could to thoroughly exacerbate racism while they had every opportunity to help it die. “Be confident in your blackness” Barack spouted at a Howard commencement speech. And Michelle had to remind students at Tuskegee that Southern (Democrat) whites used to call black men ‘boys.’ But the liberal media of course never challenged the logic of either statement. My immediate questions were then, “Should I have faith in my whiteness, Barry?” And, Michelle, “How stupid and needlessly inflammatory can a first lady be?” And now the whole leftist alliance is clearly visible in their straining to destroy the police and promoting the lawlessness which a defenseless America will ultimately never be able to overcome.

It was a black woman who once explained to me that our time in this life is so brief, so transitory. What real difference does it make, who does wrong to whom? The Irish endured the horrors of slavery in Ireland, England, and the fiery islands throughout the Caribbean. It was Lincoln’s dearest black friend, Frederick Douglass, who once even observed that he would rather die on an English gallows than live the life of a ‘free’ Irishman under English rule. When slavery was being abolished in England in the 1700s, African royalty made the trip north to meet with King George. They argued AGAINST abolition because they used enslavement to rid their kingdoms of miscreants/troublemakers and to fill their own pockets with gold. I take the time to mention all of this simply because real Christians of all colors should call to mind that our Creator and Lord did not come to make this a better world. The very real devil uses the brutality and discomfort of this fallen, sinful place as a distraction from the true mission Jesus came to fulfill. So many professing Christians have been sucked into the LIE that Jesus was just a big sensitive hippie. Nothing could be further from the truth. He died a horrible death to save our souls from eternal hell. PERIOD.

Communism hates freedom because freedom allows people to hear, think and speak the word of God

In a past column, I related how some of my early 70s high school classmates and I threw a fundraiser rock concert in a city park. We did that so we could raise enough money for a lawyer who would force our school board to allow us guys to wear long hair. We raised the money, sure enough, and eventually had our way with that district board. But by the time the court case was finished and long hair was allowed at our high school I had already been in college for nearly 2 years. And I then couldn’t have cared less about that victory. I mean, I was suddenly on my own and paying for my own education. And in college I could wear my hair below my ankles if I wanted. In this very unfair world, life is a lot like that: About the time you win your court case, you are already effectively dead and gone. The Democrats and the lying news machine will tell you whatever you want to hear to convince you that ‘systemic racism’ and white people are the root of all evil. But the leftists and their news/entertainment allies, under the direction of their evil masters, are making up stories in order to further distract you from the truth you should be standing for.

God generally has given people lives to live long enough to decide upon doing His will or our own. Communism hates freedom because freedom allows people to hear, think and speak the word of God. Jesus called us sheep. And we behave like sheep, mostly because we are weak creatures of conformity. It’s so frightening that the trend is suddenly making it acceptable behavior to despise and do harm to anything that disagrees with our achieving immediate gratification. It was leftist, Judas (the keeper of the money box) who complained that certain donations could have been sold and the money given to the poor. But it was Jesus (who never started a riot) who said, “The poor you will always have with you.” (Matthew 26:11) He therein did not sound very upset about financial disparity. Nor did he ever petition Caesar for better conditions for anyone. He was here to get up a crew of people who would stand for His truth rather than kneel and bow before the distracting triviality of social injustice. If you really care about right and wrong, you will, like Prof. Mike Adams and Sam Coonrod, do the best you can in all things, from your heart. Follow the will and ways of the most unjustly hated man ever on this planet. And He was the first to say that if we are really following Him, we will be hated indeed. I have no doubt of what our president meant in tweeting that the game was over for Sam Coonrod. Things will be tough for Sam—just as they are for our president and all of us who stand for what is right. Stand up and be noticed for the One who died for you.
