Trump Goes to Work First Night

President Donald Trump on his very first night on Friday signed an executive order aimed at fulfilling one of his top campaign promises: Rolling back Obamacare. The multi-part executive order stated that the administration’s official policy is “to seek the prompt repeal” of the Affordable Care Act. The first regulation is the requirement that Americans either have health insurance or pay a tax penalty. While the left will say Trump is gutting Obamacare, this part has always been the most unpopular part. In reality, the Act gives the administration discretion about how to enforce the penalty. The Obama administration was itself relatively forgiving about enforcing that penalty because it knew it had a problem. Therefore, Trump easing this penalty is not so outrageous and the left paints.
States have been asking for more flexibility to reshape their Medicaid programs, which cover about 70 million low-income Americans. Such flexibility already exists in Obamacare to allow the States to respond. Some States have asked to require poor adults on Medicaid to seek work. Much of the regulation is very unfair. Someone who may even be on disability, loses everything if they work at all. They might be about to do a part-time job like drive a shuttle car for an auto dealer. But if they work for 1 hour, they lose all benefits.
The insurance mandatory requirement has been the foundation of Obamacare to force young people to buy heal insurance even when they do not need it. The profits from those premiums were support to pay for others like a Ponzi scheme. But this concept has failed resulting in many insurance companies abandoning Obamacare. Obamacare regulations stand 7ft tall (2.1336 meters). Nobody who voted on this act every read the whole thing! that is an ABSOLUTE FACT!
The system is unsustainable as is. It would have been a simply plan to say anyone who could not get health insurance would be covered by Medicaid rather than alter the entire insurance for everyone. Obamacare will collapse because it is yet another Ponzi scheme that is proving to have doubled the premiums of most people (including myself) while failing to compel the younger, healthier people to buy health insurance in the first place.
Republicans are very worried about being blamed for such a collapse, which could cause millions of Americans to lose health insurance. The simple fix would be to restore the healthcare policies people had originally and all others fall under Medicaid. Then, make insurance companies EXEMPT from income tax, but cap their income to 10% and freeze salaries of those who work in that industry indexed to CPI. Regulate insurance premiums as they do with monopolies for energy power. Mandate that an insurance company cannot drop you once you have a disease. Those with pre-existing conditions should be covered under Medicaid. There are bold steps that can be taken. There should be a free market in drugs as well. If there is a cheaper substitute from Canada, that should be allowed.

In Blistering Interview, Conway Tells Chuck Todd “We Are Going To Have To Rethink Our Relationship With The Press”
To members of the mainstream media, it would appears ‘size matters’, as the Inauguration crowd-gate debacle continues following Sean Spicer’s unusual press conference yesterday. During a combative interview this morning with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Trump top advisor Kellyanne Conway blasted media “falsehoods,” crushing Todd’s ‘size’ issues by noting that “Presidents aren’t judged by crowd sizes at their inauguration, they’re judged by their accomplishments.”
But Conway was not done with the “Meet The Press” anchor yet, as she cornered him, noting this was just more evidence of the unfair and biased treatment of the Trump administration by the media:
“We’re going to have to rethink our relationship with the press…Yesterday, we allowed the press into the Oval Office to witness the signing of executive orders and what happens almost immediately – a falsehood is told about removing the bust of Martin Luther King Jr – that’s just flat-out false.“
“I’m thrilled that all of a sudden NBC News and Chuck Todd is so focused on covering crowd control, because we were mocked daily for talking about the historic significance of the size of the crowds at our rallies during the campaign… on great days were ignored, and on most days we were mocked.”
“You want the American people to think they can’t trust The White House press secretary, that’s a very dangerous statement to make. Your job is to report the news, not to give your opinion, you’re not an opinion columnist.“

A Preview Of Trump’s Seven Imminent Executive Orders
Having already signed a (mostly symbolic) executive order on Obamacare on Friday night, urging US agencies to “waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation” of provisions deemed to impose fiscal burdens on states, companies or individuals, Trump is preparing to unload a volley of many more executive orders. Courtesy of Axios, which quotes “one of the best-wired Republican lobbyists in town”, here is a preview of the initial round of Trump executive actions, some of which may hit as soon as Sunday afternoon:
- Look for a possible hiring freeze at executive branch
- 5-year lobbying ban on transition and administration officials
- Mexico City policy, which prevents foreign NGOs from getting U.S. family planning money if they provide abortions with non-U.S. funds. (It’s already illegal to use U.S dollars on abortions.)
- Task the Defense Secretary and joint chiefs to come up with plan to eviscerate ISIS
- Report on readiness, and something cyber security related
- Border/immigration: Something on sanctuary cities, expand E-Verify, an extreme vetting proposal
- Trade: Withdraw from TPP and a thorough review of NAFTA
Axios also notes that “the Mexico City executive order could come as soon as today.”
Furthermore, watch for dozens of EPA executive orders coming down the pike. “Says a Trump source: “EPA has clean water-related and some 30,000 foot regulatory ones lined up [immediately]…We have dozens for the EPA…Starting Monday through the month of February. We have to roll them out gradually.”
As we laid out before, here is a brief summary of what Trump can (and can not do) on day one. Exhibit 3 lists the President’s “Contract with Voters”, which includes several items that can be accomplished through executive action but involves significant legislative activity as well.

Next a table breaking down the upcoming Budget process:
The “budget reconciliation” process allows the majority party to instruct various committees to pass legislation to achieve certain fiscal targets, for example to reduce the deficit by a certain amount over the next ten years. These instructions, along with spending and revenue targets, are included in the annual budget resolution that Congress is supposed to pass by April of each year. Legislation passed pursuant to these instructions enjoys procedural protections in the House and Senate; most importantly, it is immune to filibuster in the Senate and thus needs only 51 votes to pass. The budget resolution can provide instructions to pass as many as three reconciliation bills, one dealing with tax or revenue changes, one dealing with spending changes, and one dealing with the debt limit. This year, tax reform is likely to be addressed through reconciliation, as are changes to the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). It is possible that congressional leaders might also consider using this process to address infrastructure funding, certain entitlement program reforms, or the debt limit increase that appear to be necessary by Q3.
Finally, here again are the main differences between the House tax plan and that of the president.
