President Trump’s statement on Saudi Arabia is one of the most forthright explanations of foreign policy by a US President, ever. No obfuscation; no convoluted parseltongue; just plainly spoken brutal honesty.  The Saudis may do bad things but they are better than their enemies, and our alliance with them is in our national interest.  Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivers a similar statement in his media press briefing today.

Greece & Food

QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong; When you were here in Athens you mentioned that we should use the new technology to grow food indoors. It has been the food argument why we should remain in the EU because we must import food. Do you still hold that position?

GD Athens

ANSWER: Yes. This is by no means something new. The Greek Dark Age was created after the fall of Mycenaean because that is when the energy output of the sun declined and the inability to grow enough food back then turned the Greeks into the Sea Peoples. This has always been a problem. Greece should begin to develop indoor farms. The technology is there – use it. Then the argument that Greece must remain captive by the EU is absurd.

California Governor Jerry Brown Quietly Admits Donald Trump is Right – Proposed Easing Logging Regulations…

A guilt ridden departing governor Jerry Brown concedes that President Donald Trump is absolutely correct in the California mismanagement of the forestry.  With the death of untold numbers of people –yet to be discovered– Jerry Brown knew immediate changes were needed to logging regulations to thin the California forests.  Trump was right!

CALIFORNIA August 2018 – Gov. Jerry Brown is proposing broad new changes to California’s logging rules that would allow landowners to cut larger trees and build temporary roads without obtaining a permit as a way to thin more forests across the state.

The proposal — which has the support of the timber industry but is being opposed by more than a dozen environmental groups — would represent one of the largest changes to the state’s timber harvesting rules in the past 45 years.

The legislative session ends for the year next Friday. On Thursday, the details were still being negotiated by legislative leaders and the governor’s office behind the scenes and had not yet been formally introduced in a bill or put up for a vote.

“They are trying to get to some kind of a deal,” said Rich Gordon, the president of the California Forestry Association, a timber industry group. “They are looking at what can get done politically.”

Under Brown’s proposal, private landowners would be able to cut trees up to 36 inches in diameter — up from the current 26 inches — on property 300 acres or less without getting a timber harvest permit from the state, as long as their purpose was to thin forests to reduce fire risk. They also would be able to build roads of up to 600 feet long without getting a permit, as long as they repaired and replanted them.

Timber industry officials say the changes are needed to cut red tape and increase incentives for landowners, particularly in the Sierra Nevada, to thin pine and fir forests that have become dangerously overgrown after 100 years of fire fighting. (Read more)

Qualifying the REAL situation here: there is little doubt in my mind we simply have no idea just how many people have been killed in/around Paradise, California.  U.S. media are willfully blind to follow-up on the severity of the devastation in Butte County alone.  There are 989 people still missing [SEE LIST HERE] and the current death toll lingers around 80.

It is unspoken, but having participated in large-scale exercises for natural disasters, I would suggest part of the reasoning for keeping residents outside of the impact zone is to allow for search crews to locate the bodies first.  If officials allowed residents to evaluate their neighborhoods there would likely be a flood of bodies discovered.  That outcome is not in the best interests of officials (some good motives, some not good).   All information is being filtered.

Notice how after ten days these officials realize they’re going to have to deploy more search crews to locate the remains.  This is foreboding.  This is trying to retain control of a situation that is unfathomable in scale and horror.

U.S. Military Hardens Border Security – Mexico Begins Recognizing Consequences…

History is full of examples of what happens when illegal migration patterns are halted. We only need to look toward Tunisia, Libya and Morocco for recent examples. As the Central American migration horde begins to bottleneck within northern Mexico, it is likely President-elect Lopez-Obrador is beginning to evaluate those prior consequences.

President Trump took pro-active steps to harden the U.S. border through the deployment of U.S. military, and specifically through Corps of Engineers working in concert with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to make illegal entry into the U.S. far more difficult.

Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum

As an outcome, the mass influx of Central American travelers is backing-up in Tijuana Mexico; and this mass collection of people -mostly military aged males- will almost certainly continue for the next six months.  It did not take long for Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum to see the impact to his town.  Local protests began within days of the first several thousand arriving. Things will likely not end well unless active steps are taken soon to turn around the migrants.

TIJUANA, Mexico — Hundreds of Tijuana residents, opposed to what they described as the “chaos” of the Central American migrant caravan, gathered at a prominent roundabout in Tijuana Sunday morning, before marching to a large, temporary shelter, which now holds about 2,400 migrants.

They chanted “Mexico! Mexico!” and “yes to migrants, no to invaders!” They sang the national anthem and waved Mexican flags and banners and signs, with messages urging the migrants to go home and urging the government to take action.

Tijuana resident Guadalupe Barrera said the protesters oppose how the migrants entered the county. She held a sign that read in Spanish “no more caravans.”  (read more)

Early this morning U.S. officials temporarily shut down the San Ysidro port of entry as they put hardened elements in place to block any attempts to rush the border entry point.

The government of Mexico must be evaluating the possibilities of severe civil unrest unless they do something different; it is obvious the position of President Trump will remain unchanged.  Additionally, and importantly, Democrats realize they are on the wrong side of this issue as the majority of Americans -including their own constituents- do not want to see a mass influx of economic migrants.  The shift toward silence from the media narrative engineers is transparent.

President Trump has a quiver full of consequential economic arrows that can be used to leverage Mexico into action.   There is a decent possibility President Trump can utilize the growing crisis at the border to change the perspectives within Washington DC.  The next few months should be very interesting in this regard…

Via NBC – […]  Some protesters said the Mexican government should follow President Donald Trump’s lead and adopt tougher border policies.

“He’s defending his border, unlike our president,” said protester Elvia Vijeras. “Now there will be more violence in Tijuana.”

On Friday, Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum called the influx of migrants an “avalanche” that could wind up staying in the city for at least six months.

On Sunday, President Trump tweeted about Gastelum saying the city was “ill-prepared” for the migrants.

“Likewise, the U.S. is ill-prepared for this invasion, and will not stand for it,” Trump tweeted. “They are causing crime and big problems in Mexico. Go home!”  (read more)

White House Notifies CNN Journalist Jim Acosta of Rules to Permanently Revoke “Hard Pass”….

The White House sent a letter to CNN narrative engineer Jim Acosta notifying him his pass granting him temporary access to the White House grounds could be suspended after a temporary restraining order runs its course:

As noted the letter outlines the White House is establishing formal rules for conduct as an outcome of CNN filing a lawsuit to support the behavior of the “journalist”.  Following the process for appeal, and denial therein, the White House intends permanent revocation.

Thus the baseline for unacceptable conduct, and the decision for press-pass revocation, will now apply toward all journalists covering the White House; and the White House Correspondents Association will no longer be the decision-maker.
