There is no doubt that he deserted, all that means is Obama will make him a hero! Obama wants to reduce the capability of our military and these kinds of actions will reduce the moral in the services for two reasons; first the enlisted will lose respect for the officers that will not stand up for them and two they will see no reason to risk their lives when deserters are rewarded.

When I was in the Army i was taught that one of the reasons the American military was so successfully against the Germans in WW II was the ability of the local commanders to make decisions and not have to wait for directions from above. Patton knew the Germans were structured much like today’s American military (run from the Pentagon and White House) and that is why he beat them. Susan Rice is not Patton and its unlikely she or any of her cohorts would even make good squad leaders!.

Civilians don’t understand the planning and lead times involved in planing designing procuring and building complex systems. If yu don’t maintain the flow beyond a minimum level you lose the ability to make the products. The cuts to the DOD will resu8lt in a significant loss of capability. Such a different time we life in. While the 101st Airborne was holding Bastogne Gen Eisenhower authorized Gen Patton to reverse his southern advance into Germany and Patton brought elements of his 3rd Army all the way back to relieve the 101st Airborne. No one believed that the 101st Airborne could hold out and no one believed that Patton could get there in time.

Bowe Bergdahl Desertion Investigation Complete – But With Election Day Looming Report Will Not Be Released
As a former army officer with some knowledge of what actually happened in the Bergdahl desertion I can tell you the the situation is very clear and it was desertion. If appropriate measure are not taken it will have a very negative effect of the combat readiness of those that actually are the Boots on the Ground. My fear is that the present General and Flag Grade officers are compromised and are no longer capable of properly doing their jobs. Duty honor Country does not allow one to do what one knows to be wrong — just to save their job.
