President Trump Delivers Impromptu Remarks to Media Prior to Departing for Michigan…

Earlier today, prior to departing for Michigan, President Trump delivered impromptu remarks to the media from the South lawn of the White House. [Video and Transcript]

.

[Transcript] South Lawn – 4:17 P.M. EDT – THE PRESIDENT: So we’re going to Michigan. We’re opening up car plants in Michigan again for the first time in decades. They’re coming in — really pouring in. Car companies are coming in. Toyota just announced $13.5 billion coming into our country. And Michigan is booming and Ohio is booming, and North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida — a lot of places.

But we have a lot of car companies and we have a lot of companies coming back into our country. And this has been happening pretty much since I’ve been President. It’s really amazing what’s going on. But, again, because I’m going to Michigan, I will tell you, we’ll be speaking about it tonight.

We have companies coming back in — car companies. It’s a great thing to see.

Q Mr. President, this is the first time you’ve had an opportunity to speak on a scale like this since the Mueller report. Will this be a bit of a victory lap for you?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, look, I’ve been going through that for almost two years. But it’s really much more than that because, if you look back, you can probably look at the insurance policy area in terms of timing. It’s a disgrace what happened.

This was a terrible thing that was put onto our country. Nobody has seen anything like this. Probably never happened before. A beautiful conclusion. I haven’t seen the report. Beautiful conclusion.

And there was no collusion at all. There never was. Everybody knew it. I wish it could have gone in one week instead of taking almost two years. But the result was great: no obstruction, no collusion, no anything. It was a great — yeah, it was a great thing. But it took a long time.

Q Is this having an effect on the current round of trade talks with China? Our understanding is that the Chinese were waiting for this report to come out before they started making some moves forward.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I can’t tell you whether or not it had an impact on other countries, including China. I can say this: that countries are reacting very well. We’re doing very well with our trade talks with China, and our trade talks and other talks with other countries. Our country is doing great.

If you look at — if you look at other countries, if you look at what’s happening, the economies of other countries — we’re leading the world economically. We’re leading the world as far as our economy is concerned. We have a strong dollar. We have — I mean, things are going very well.

And one of the reasons I’m going out tonight to Michigan is we’ve brought back so much industry, so many car companies to Michigan. So we’re very happy.

Q But the Barr memo does say Russia interfered. What will we do in 2020 to make sure that we do not have —

Q Why cut funding for the Special Olympics? Why do that?

Q What will you do in 2020 to make sure there is no repeat?

THE PRESIDENT: Quiet.

Q Why cut Special Olympics funding? Why cut money for the Special Olympics? Why would you cut funding for that?

THE PRESIDENT: The Special Olympics will be funded. I just told my people, “I want to fund the Special Olympics.” And I just authorized a funding of the Special Olympics. I’ve been to the Special Olympics. I think it’s incredible. And I just authorized a funding. I heard about it this morning. I have overridden my people. We’re funding the Special Olympics.

Q What you think about Facebook banning white nationalism?

THE PRESIDENT: Say it?

Q What do you think about Facebook banning white nationalism?

THE PRESIDENT: I don’t know.

Q (Inaudible) Theresa May saying that she’ll resign if her Brexit deal comes through.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, she’s a very nice lady. She’s a friend of mine. I hope she does well. I hope the Brexit movement and everything happening there goes very well. But Theresa May is a very good woman. And I’ll tell you what: She’s strong, she’s tough. And she’s in there fighting.

Q What do you think of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister?

THE PRESIDENT: I like Boris Johnson a lot. He’s a friend of mine.

Q Mr. President, the Governor of Puerto Rico said he won’t be bullied by your White House. What’s your response to that?

THE PRESIDENT: I’ve taken better care of Puerto Rico than any man ever. We have $91 billion going to Puerto Rico. We have $29 billion to Texas and $12 billion to Florida for the hurricanes. Puerto Rico has been taken care of better by Donald Trump than by any living human being. And I think the people of Puerto Rico understand it.

But you do have a mayor of San Juan that, frankly, doesn’t know what she’s doing. And the Governor — they got to spend the money wisely. They don’t know how to spend the money, and they’re not spending it wisely.

But I’m giving them more money than they’ve ever got — gotten. And frankly, the people of Puerto Rico, I really have a great relationship with them. And I think, when it comes time, they really do appreciate it.

Q Mozambique needs (inaudible). They aren’t in the best situation. They have a flood, and many kids are dying. Mozambique.

THE PRESIDENT: Where? Where?

Q Mozambique. Mozambique.

THE PRESIDENT: We’re going to look into that very much.

Q Which healthcare plan do you support? Graham-Cassidy, (inaudible) —

THE PRESIDENT: So, Obamacare has been an absolute disaster. I have asked John Barrasso, senator; Bill Cassidy, who’s a terrific healthcare person; Rick Scott and others to take a look, form a really great plan. We’re winning the lawsuit to terminate Obamacare in Texas. We are winning the Texas lawsuit. And right now, we’re on the winning side. Hopefully, we’ll win at the appellate division and go to the Supreme Court to terminate Obamacare.

The cost of Obamacare to people is far too much. The deductibility is ridiculous. It averages more than $7,000, meaning it’s unusable. So, Obamacare has been disaster. We will take care of preexisting conditions better than they’re taken care of now. And I’ve already gotten rid of the individual mandate, which was the worst part of Obamacare, where you had to pay for the privilege of not getting bad insurance.

So — wait a minute. So we are working very hard on that. John Barrasso, Rick Scott, we have some great people. You look — I mean, we’ve put together a group of four or five, and Bill Cassidy is a terrific healthcare person. And they are going to work together and come up with something that’s really spectacular. Maybe we’ll even get support in the House from Democrats. But it’s going to be far better than Obamacare.

If we win on Obamacare, it will be terminated in the court. And we’ll see what happens.

Q What’s the timeline? When will you have a plan?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re working on a plan now. There’s no very great rush from the standpoint. We’re waiting for decisions in the court. But we’ve already won the case against — for the termination of Obamacare — against Obamacare. Now we’ll go to the appellate division. We’ll see what happens there. I think we’ll win; it’s in Texas.

Q Are you —

THE PRESIDENT: Wait. Wait. And then it goes to the Supreme Court of the United States.

If the decisions are held up, if we win on the termination of Obamacare, we will have a plan that’s far better than Obamacare, including, very importantly, preexisting conditions, which I’ve always been in favor of.

Q Mr. President, what did the FBI tell you about Jussie Smollett?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think the Smollett — I think the case in Chicago is an absolute embarrassment to our country. And I have asked that it be — that they look at it.

I think that case is an absolute embarrassment to our country, and somebody has to at least take a very good, hard look at it.

The Demographics & How West v East Cope with the Change

In the West, girls are simply not having enough children. This is undermining the entire social structure. The welfare system is dependent upon the population increasing, or at the bare minimum remaining unchanged. Europe has secretly allowed refugees in to try to make up for the decline in population that will undermine their highly socialistic economic system. The contrast with the West stands in China and Korea. In the case of China, here too there is a shrinkage in population. However, unlike the West, China is neither adopting Quantitative Easing or allowing an influx of refugees in.

In the case of Korea, they are hoping for a reunification with the North. This, they hope, will compensate for the shrinkage in their population. Historically, the more economically advanced a society becomes, the fewer children the women have. Even in ancient Rome, the first Emperor Augustus passed family laws and would fine men who would not marry and have children.

Once again, history reveals the trends are consistent throughout the centuries.

President Trump Lengthy Interview With Sean Hannity…

Tonight President Trump called-in to Fox News host Sean Hannity for an unusually lengthy interview.  The interview ran almost 45 minutes without commercial interruption.

There are multiple breaking news aspects to this interview including President Trump affirming his intention to declassify all of the material previously discussed [See Here]. As CTH noted last year, President Trump stated his lawyers directly advised him against declassification because such action would be construed as obstruction.  WATCH:

Smollett Drama – Cook County State Attorney Now Says Sealing Case Was Done Accidentally…

Whoopsie, Chicago State Attorney corruption is going into ludicrous mode.  According to an interview with ABC7, Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx is now claiming all the activity to seal evidence in the Jussie Smolett case was done “inadvertently”.

Yeah, yeah…. that’s the ticket.  The keyboards and computers self-activated and typed up the motion to the Judge, and then convinced the clerk of courts to accept the motion filing all just accidental and stuff… or something.  Nothing to see here, Russians! Gottabe…

(Tweet Link) – (Story Link)

Oh yeah, and don’t overlook that pesky admission that Ms. Foxx didn’t actually recuse herself from the case, as previously claimed.  She’s admitting she participated. D’oh!

CHICAGO (WLS) — Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx defended her office’s decision to drop all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, who was accused of staging a racist and homophobic attack on himself.

“I believe this is a just outcome based on the circumstances,” Foxx said on Wednesday, a day after the charges were dropped.

In an interview on Wednesday, she said the practice of dropping charges in exchange for community service and restitution is not uncommon for the Class 4 felonies that Smollett was charged with.

“We believe that the facts were sufficient to charge and try Mr. Smollett for the crimes,” Foxx said.

While a court did not find him guilty, she said: “Based on the facts and the evidence that was presented in the charging decision that was made by this office, this office believed that they could prove him guilty.”

Foxx had recused herself from the case a week prior to Smollett being charged when it appeared that the actor had gone from victim to suspect. She recused herself after speaking with a “relative” of Smollett, but not Smollett himself. Foxx said it is not uncommon for her to speak to victims and their families.

“The family had reached out, I think to me, largely because they didn’t have a connection to the police department, asking if there was a way to make sure that the leaks in the case were to a minimum,” Foxx said.

Foxx added: “I don’t want any speculation or concern, I don’t even want the appearance, that my involvement with this case, now having talked to a family member, would in any way impede this investigation.”

She was connected to the family through Tina Tchen, the former chief of staff to Michelle Obama.

In a statement, Tchen said: “I know members of the Smollett family based on prior work together. Shortly after Mr. Smollett reported he was attacked, as a family friend, I contacted Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, who I also know from prior work together. My sole activity was to put the chief prosecutor in the case in touch with an alleged victim’s family who had concerns about how the investigation was being characterized in public.”  (read more)

President Trump Participates in Medal of Honor Ceremony – 4:00pm Livestream

President Donald Trump participates in the posthumous Medal of Honor ceremony for Staff Sergeant Travis W. Atkins, United States Army.  Atkins’ initial award, the Distinguished Service Cross, was upgraded to the Medal of Honor after a Defense Department review. His son, Trevor, and parents will represent him at a White House ceremony.  Anticipated start time 4:00pm EST

UPDATE: Video Added

.

Staff Sergeant Travis W. Atkins will receive the Medal of Honor for his actions of June 1, 2007, in support of IRAQI FREEDOM.  While serving in Iraq with Company D, 2d Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Staff Sergeant Atkins engaged in hand-to hand combat with a suspected insurgent.

As he attempted to subdue the man, Staff Sergeant Atkins realized the insurgent was attempting to detonate a bomb strapped to his body.  When he noticed the insurgent was about to trigger the suicide vest, Staff Sergeant Atkins tackled him, selflessly using his own body to shield his fellow soldiers from the imminent explosion.  Staff Sergeant Atkins’ heroic actions, at the cost of his life, saved the lives of three of his teammates.

Travis W. Atkins was born on Dec. 9, 1975, in Great Falls, Montana. He moved with his parents, Jack and Elaine, to Bozeman, Montana, in 1981. Growing up, Atkins was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and camp.

Prior to enlisting, Atkins worked for concrete and painting contractors, and as a small-engine mechanic, but his athletic nature and desire to serve ultimately led him to the U.S. Army.

Atkins enlisted on Nov. 9, 2000, and attended basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and deployed with the 101st to Kuwait in early March 2003. Atkins participated in the invasion of Iraq later that month as an infantry fire team leader.

Atkins was honorably discharged from the Army in December 2003.

Back home, Atkins attended the University of Montana in Missoula and worked as a painting and concrete contractor. Two years later, Atkins once again answered the call to serve.

He reenlisted in the U.S. Army in December 2005 and was reassigned to Delta Company in the same battalion and deployed to Iraq again in August 2006.

He was killed in action on June 1, 2007. (Source)

Threat Alert – West Virginia Police Shut Down I-68, Capture Armed Suspect With Explosives Threatening POTUS and Pentagon…

This is a breaking story, so stay tuned.  Details are sketchy. Here’s what we know so far.  West Virginia State Police and U.S. Secret Service agents shut down part of interstate 68 in West Virginia following an alert of a 42-year-old male heading to Washington DC to carry out a threat against President Trump and the Pentagon.

State police, ATF and FBI officers responded. A 42-year old male has been apprehended.  I-68 is now re-opened. A vehicle search revealed a firearm and explosive powder.

W-VA – […] State Police Captain Shallon Oglesby said the shutdown came after a routine traffic stop at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for speeding along the eastbound lanes.

The trooper determined that the stop would require an “in-depth investigation” leading to the shutdown, Oglesby said.

State Police and Preston officials would not confirm reports that the incident involves explosives.

The FBI arrived on scene to assist, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday afternoon. (read more)
