Obama’s Foreign Policy

obama-full-painting

John McNaughton Latest Work — Obama Foreign Policy

Is the world a safer place since Obama was made President of the United States?
I felt a need to paint a new image to capture the delicate situation we face as Americans.What has happened since he’s been in office?  Where is the stability and peace in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Crimea, Ukraine, Russia, Iran, Israel, Palestine, China and North Korea? How are our veterans doing? Are American citizens safer as they travel abroad?

When the balance of the world seems to stand on the edge of a knife, where is our President?

I hope this painting will not become prophetic in its meaning.

Since Obama has been President he has played over 200 rounds of golf.

THIS is not a game.

This is Obama’s Foreign Policy.

What has he done?

WHO is this Man?

Dissociated Press

By Tabitha Korol

Associated Press (AP), one of the largest and most trusted sources of independent newsgathering, reported “Israeli house strikes killed mostly civilians.” It reported 247 airstrikes (bombings) in Gaza during the summer of 2014, killing 840. Of that number, 508 (60%) were civilians, 96 (11%) were terrorists, and 240 (29%) remained uncharacterized. The failure to seek identification of the “uncharacterized” reveals a scheme to reengineer the outcome, and a flawed count can only lead to a flawed conclusion.

AP professes a commitment to the highest standards of objective, accurate journalism over the past 165 years. It employs the latest technology to collect and distribute news and photos, with a 24-hour update process, and has one of the largest collections of historical and contemporary imagery. Headquartered in New York, it operates in more than 180 locations worldwide, including every US statehouse, and has won 51 Pulitzer Prizes since the prize’s establishment in 1917.

Regrettably, the wire services, which include AP, Reuters, and similar sources of news for broadcast, print media, and on-line news, are responsible for the blatant lies peddled and truths compromised when the original story opposes the Arab Muslim narratives. A recent example was an international wire service report that accused Israel of releasing water to deliberately flood the Gaza Valley, destroying houses and causing hundreds of Gazans to flee. When caught in this lie, Daily Mail apologized and clarified that there are no dams in southern Israel, that the flooding was caused by unusually heavy rain and drainage issues. Al Jazeera retracted their statements, which had been accompanied by photos of rushing waters. Similarly, Reuters had been found guilty of switching photos or cropping photo edges, such as when they excluded weapons held by activists aboard the Mavi Marmara during the Gaza flotilla raid. This is serious treachery.

We have now learned that the 240 “uncharacterized” males were indeed terrorists (ages 16 – 59), changing the total from 96 to 336 terrorists (40%), not an unusual ratio of women and children to terrorists, as these poor victims are customarily used as human shields, whether alongside the rocket sites or within the buildings. Hamas often secretes rockets and explosives in residential homes, which certainly contributes to the civilian casualty count. AP never reports Israel’s warnings to civilians to evacuate residential areas, never cites Israel’s casualties, and never reveals that the strikes are always retaliatory for wars begun by the Arabs.

AP has repeatedly sought to discredit Israel by accusing her armed forces of conducting disproportional warfare against Palestinians, when no war or sport has ever been fought for an equal outcome. From 2001 to July 2014, Palestinians have conducted a war of terror, resulting in psychological trauma (PTSD) to more than 50% of the children and depression and miscarriages to adults, and using more sophisticated rockets (some containing white phosphorous) to reach larger cities. AP did not propose that Israel conduct a comparable rocket attack into Gaza for the sake of proportionality, or suggest Israel bomb Palestinian school buses, or advocate that Israel dig an equivalent number of terror tunnels leading to Palestinian children’s schools and dormitories when Hamas’s were discovered.

In an attempt to further paint Israel as the aggressor, AP incorporates “evidence” to accuse Israel of intentionally targeting civilians. Hence, it presented the fatality figures of 844 against the backdrop of 247 air strikes, an equation of 3.4 people per bombing when, in fact, Israel actually made 20,000 air strikes, thereby achieving a .04 fatality figure per bombing. These percentages verify that AP’s reporters script deceptive, damaging information and that Israel does its utmost to avoid civilian casualties. Israel’s record is unparalleled.

AP also failed to provide comparative analyses, such as how these numbers match up to other wars and air strikes conducted in urban areas. Withheld information is as dishonest and harmful as erroneous information. In fact, investigative journalist Richard Behar’s studies of conflicts since World War II show that the norm of fatalities is 85 to 90 percent civilian. We might well be reminded of Germans’ killing 28,000 civilians in the London Blitz; Allies’ killing 25,000 civilians when they bombed Dresden and destroyed the Nazi industrial center; our killing 130,000 civilians with our nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, which brought about Japan’s unconditional surrender and peace.

The United Nations’ figures cited at least 1,483 Gazan Palestinian civilians killed, with an overall death toll of 2,205, the balance being militants, with the source of information being Hamas-controlled Gazan Health Ministry.   AP actually did have access to figures from a trustworthy, private research institute in Israel, Meir Amit Intelligence and Information Center, but chose not to avail itself of them – although they do sort through their information if they can contribute to a war crimes accusation against Israel.

Oddly, throughout the world, Imams spew hate and incite to kill from their mosque podia. Muslims murder Jews and Christians because of their religion or, as with Charlie Hebdo, because of cartoons against their prophet. Muslims (Hamas) fire deadly rockets for (Israeli) territory. Muslims (ISIS) chop off people’s heads and burn others alive, and just kidnapped 90 Christians. Muslims (Boko Haram) kidnapped young girls for sexual slavery and buried some alive. Muslims (Chechens) beheaded Russian soldiers and attacked, kidnapped and killed children and school staff.   Muslims appear to have reached the percentage at which they are now capable of conquest of the Nordic countries, and the natives are committing cultural suicide without a fight. And we know of this through AP. Yet AP continues its deception as well as its unparalleled accusations not against Muslims, but against Israel primarily.

Not only has Associated Press become known for its sloppy, dishonest and unreliable reporting, but it has also been accused of biased reporting on the Middle East by its own journalists.  Indictments included storylines showing Arabs and Palestinians to be entirely blameless and Israel fully culpable; refusing to print a 2008 Israeli peace proposal when it would have verified Israel’s desire for peace; and killing a story that would have shown Israel appropriately. It is time these wire services were rewired to overhaul their failed policies, and return to responsible, honest journalism.

Train of Thought

By Tabitha Korol

Of the many kinds of trains exhibited in Birmingham’s Wonderful World of Trains and Planes, in Birmingham, England, the only display in dispute was the model train set of Auschwitz, noted the Daily Mail. The photos included in the column certainly verify that the set was painstakingly designed to provide authenticity, was sufficiently informative, and respectfully and tastefully executed. Although I have visited Auschwitz, I have seen an authentic and replicas of boxcars in other museums, not to mention in newsreels, so I was dismayed to learn that only this one was considered objectionable.

One such objection came from a Holocaust survivor and while my heart goes out to him, this was an important teaching moment that would not be obtained in a classroom or home environment, and must not be obliterated from collective memory. It is not the presentation, but the Holocaust itself that is offensive. The mass murder of millions of innocent men, women, and children is inconceivably offensive. The obliteration of human beings by fascists – and now by Islamo-fascists – is severely offensive. And last year, I was privileged to edit a book of Holocaust survivors’ memoirs that were immensely offensive, but surely not to be dismissed or disregarded.

The visitors from Birmingham and environs elected not to stay at home in front of the telly, or go to the park, or attend a sporting event. Rather, they chose to visit a museum, to expand their horizons, to see and learn something new. So, while I respect the wishes and painful memories of the dissenting gentleman and the parents who prefer to keep their children ignorant of this part of human history, this may well have been the last thing ever seen by about one-and-a-half-million children during World War II, and I believe there is much to be gained by viewing the display.

Taking this a step further, if the exhibit were of sailing vessels, I would expect to see crafts of all kinds – those that carried goods and those that carried human cargo, those designed for peacetime and those designed for wartime:

  • The dhow, the traditional sailing and trading vessel, c. 600 BC – 600 AD, invented by Chinese, Arabs or Indians;
  • The vessels of the Polynesians, who were the finest navigators of the time;
  • Ships of the explorers, Vikings, Vasco de Gama, Marco Polo, and Christopher Columbus;
  • Muslim slave ships that brought Africans to Europe and America;
  • The Barbary pirate ships, the menace that attacked ports, captured people for slavery, and plundered merchant ships.
  • The American Navy ships dispatched by President Thomas Jefferson to battle the Barbary pirates;
  • The Mississippi River boats and barges that transported slaves through the States;
  • The MS St. Louis, the German ocean liner noted for its 1939 voyage in which her captain, Gustav Schroder, tried to find homes for 915 Jewish refugees who were denied entry to Cuba, the US, and Canada;
  • The First Class, “unsinkable” Titanic luxury liner.
  • Samples of warships, trading vessels, aircraft carriers and submarines, and any other ships noteworthy through our human history.

There will always be those who find something offensive somewhere, particularly when it comes to the Holocaust and persons who would deny its very occurrence. Nevertheless, the purpose of a museum exhibit is to teach, to engage the mind. The exhibit has accomplished its mission admirably. I commend the curator and all the museum’s participants for their vision, their talents, and their courage.

A Purim Spiel

Dear Mordechai:

As you know, from time to time an American diplomat is dispatched to the Middle East to solve the so-called “Israel-Palestinian conflict.”  Today this conflict is linked to Iran; an emerging nuclear power rightly deemed the Islamic successor of Nazi Germany.

These America diplomats harbor the craven and mindless doctrine political scientists call “conflict resolution.” But as you know, Mordechai, the root of the conflict between Jews and Muslims is religious or theological.  So if this conflict could be solved peacefully by human agency, it would require a theologian possessing enormous power and intellectual integrity. No such theologian exists. America produces only John Kerry’s.

Meanwhile, an outstanding statesman like Egyptian President Abdul al-Sisi, who knows something is askew in present-day Islam, doesn’t even get a favorable press in Kerryland, where Muslim critics might be beheaded, one way or another.

Truth was beheaded in America a day after 9/11, when President George Bush called Islam a “religion of peace.”  No one dares question that lethal religion.

Muslims the world over would be enraged if an American statesman, quoting Winston Churchill, told them that Islam is a distorted religion whose principles violate ethical and intellectual monotheism. How can anyone have an honest discussion with Muslim despots whose prestige and power are based on 1,400-years of falsehood?  No religious leader in the world preaching love and brotherhood will diminish the hatred and misanthropy of Islam, a programmed for a world-historical purpose beyond the cognition of mere politicians.

You are not going to dislodge Islam’s hold over 1.6 believers whose leaders have corrupted their minds; who have taught them that the Jewish concept in Genesis, that man is created in the image of God, is the blasphemy of “infidels”; that Muslim warriors have slaughtered some 200 million of these infidels since the time of Muhammad – ostensibly to glorify Allah.  Imagine how the combination of this teaching and historical experience, has not only inflated the egos of Muslims everywhere, but has also made non-Muslims everywhere appear all the more despicable!

It’s all too late.  Even if Muslims around the world thought they heard the heavenly voice of Gabriel saying, “Muslims, Muslims, your prophet Muhammad deceived you,” they’d think the voice was dubbed in from an orbiting satellite designed by Israeli engineers to avoid the necessity of another Netanyahu speech to the U.S. Congress – as if oratory alone can preclude the inevitable, the bombing of Iran.

Every Tom, Dick, and Shlomo on Internet is talking End Times without knowing that that’s what End Times is all about.

Happy Purim Mordechai, and give my regards to Esther.

Netanyahu’s speech to Congress

By Paul Eidelberg

Clearly, the invitation for Netanyahu’s speech to Congress was unprecedented. It was also indicative of great American patriotism.

The invitation was far more than a political insult to President Obama. It conveyed utter contempt for Obama’s Lilliputian mind and un-American character.

Mr. Netanyahu showed extraordinary merit, for he displayed the qualities that were lacking in Obama. Hi speech conveyed the kind of intelligence, national pride, and moral and political leadership which America today is so much lacking and so much in need confronted by the unprecedented challenge which Islam poses to America’s beneficent leadership in world affairs.

Congress’s invitation to Israel’s Prime Minister and his excellent speech should be regarded in Biblical terms, as it will be regarded by Christians and Jews who take the Old Testament seriously.

Is Man-made Climate Change Real #6?

Part Six Anomalies

The IPCC, NASA NOAA and most scientists that study Climate change and Anthropogenic Climate Change use a system of measurement for Global temperatures that most of us are not familiar with called Anomalies. I’ve described this method in previous posts on my blog in this series but once more will not hurt. Basically, someone determines a Base period and then observations are measured against that base and therefore the result can be either higher or lower than the Base. The Base period should have some relevance to the subject but whether it does or not, it must be a constant or the system will not work.

NASA and NOAA work together on developing a Global temperature and when they set the system up they picked a period from 1951 through 1980. 30 years or 360 months, as their Base and when they did that they determined, obviously sometime after 1980, that the Global temperature was 14.0 degrees Celsius. Now this is important, there is no scientific reason to use that period and according to NASA it was because that is when most of the scientists at NASA and NOAA had grown up. A much better Base would have been the geological global mean estimated to be around 17.0 degrees Celsius but then all the values would be negative and that wouldn’t have looked good.

Now that they NASA and NOAA have their base they subtract it from the global temperature that they have calculated with their proprietary software. Keep in mind that there really is no Global temperature if for no other reason than the earth is a sphere and one side is always facing the sun (Hot) the source of all our energy and one side facing away from the sun (cold). Let’s do an example, for January 2015 NASA determined that the global temperature was 14.74 degrees Celsius so 14.74 minus 14.0 (the base) leaves .74 which they then multiple by 100 and that gives us an anomaly of 74. That value is published in many versions but we’re interested in a table called the Land Ocean Temperature Index LOTI and that table gives those values all the way back to January 1880. Most temperature data that comes from NASA or NOAA is in this anomaly format.

NOAA publishes the C02 information but they do not use this format they publish an actually value in this case CO2 in the atmosphere as parts per million volume (ppmv), for example the value for January 2015 was 399.96 ppmv. Sometimes the v is dropped so it would be 399.96 ppm. NOAA publishes the CO2 ppm value by month and they go back to March 1958 so there is not as much data to use in evaluations as with Global temperatures. In previous posts here, an equation was shown that will generate a curve that matches historical CO2 levels, present CO2 levels and CO2 levels as shown in IPCC reports such as the latest AR5.  When we get to that part of this analysis we’ll show both and then drop the NOAA portions since it is for such a short period of time.

This completes the introduction and now we get to what we are going to do that’s different from previous Climate work by others. Basically we are going to convert CO2 levels to an anomaly using the same system that NASA uses for temperature. By doing that we’ll be comparing everything to the 1951 -1980 base period in the same kind of units. This should make any patterns or correlations more visible. We’ll start with showing the NASA Global temperature anomalies and then add on other items.

But first one other comment and that is we have had to make some adjustments in the NASA temperature data to make it more understandable. The first part is done by combining blocks of months and then taking an average. We are looking at climate changes not weather and so daily or even monthly movements do not mean anything. We picked ten years for a block for all the work here and we start with 1880 to 1899. This gives a smooth plot rather than the jagged ones that are normally seen and that makes it difficult to pick out climate from weather. Also in the case of NASA data we average 4 different current reports 2012.12, 2013.12, 2014.12 and 2015.01 the most current. This was done because of the process that NASA uses to determine the Global mean temperature creates some variation in the anomalies this averaging helps to minimize those variations. The following Chart was generated using this method. I have talked about this process in other posts here if the reader is interested.

The NASA global temperature anomalies using the method described here are shown in the blue plot on the Chart. We can see that there is a downward movement from 1880 to 1900 then an upward movement to 1940 then a downward movement to 1980 then a large upward movement to 2010. And lastly what looks like the beginning of another downward movement starting around 2010. In addition the entire series is moving up as shown by the black trend line.

There is no dispute on the patterns shown here the only issue is whether what this Chart shows is natural or manmade?

0001-01 Anomalies

The next part of this analysis is looking at NOAA CO2 data in the same anomaly format and as previously stated there is much less information here than with Global temperatures. The first Chart shown below is a plot in Green of the CO2 data from NOAA and although most show this as a straight line, it is not it is a polynomial curve actually a logistic curve again as previously discussed here in Part Four. But first let’s look at just the NOAA data in anomaly format using the same base as the NASA Global temperatures, 1951 to 1980. The actual published NOAA CO2 plots in ppm are shown in Part Four

0001-02 Anomalies

In the next Chart we’ll add the logistic curve to the actual NOAA data blocking out the common years in the CO2 model so you can see how the fit between the two data sets is very good. The actual NOAA is in green and the Modeled CO2 is in light green. Again as previously stated this logistics curve shows CO2 values that are in agreement with historical CO2 records, present CO2 and future projections of CO2 as published by the IPCC in their various assessments, the most current being AR5.

For the rest of this analysis we will use the logistic curve for CO2 and show it as a green plot labeled NOAA CO2 as there is no real difference.

0001-03 Anomalies

The next Chart shows the NASA Global Temperature and the NOAA CO2 anomalies combined. There does seem to be a relationship between the upward movement of CO2 and the upward movement in global temperature especially in the period from 1970 through 2000. We’ll continue this analysis to see if this apparent relationship is real or not.

0001-04 Anomalies

The next thing to look at now that we have past temperatures and a reasonable forecast of CO2 is what the IPCC estimates, based on the anthropogenic theory, Global temperatures will be in the future. They make this harder than it needs to be by tying the projections to economic projections, but since none of the proposed CO2 reductions have come to pass we’ll use the one business as usual, since it is the most likely. The next Chart shows just the past NASA Global Temperatures and the IPCC estimates of what future Global temperatures will be. Keep in mind that we are showing Anomalies not actual Global Temperatures.

There can be no dispute that the IPCC projection does appear to follow the NASA trend from 1980 through 2000. This trend would make Global temperatures about 15.75 degrees Celsius by 2050. This can be calculated by adding to the base of 14.0 degrees Celsius the y axis value of 175 for 2050 after diving it by 100 to turn it back into degrees Celsius. Also we do not see any deviations its strictly a smooth upward plot not like the actual from the past.

0001-05 Anomalies

In the next Chart we’ll add back the NOAA CO2 plot and we’ll see that the IPCC projection and the CO2 projection are very close indicating that there is a very close relationship between the IPCC projection and the CO2 projection. Since the IPCC was chartered to show what the 1980 to 2000 trends would do IF THE RELATIONSHIP SHOWN THERE WAS VAILD this extension is of no surprise. This Chart is similar to the one shown in Part One that Hansen showed to Congress and is also widely used by the IPCC and NASA.

0001-06 Anomalies

Now let’s zoom in and look at the 60 year period from 1960 through 2020 so we can see more detail; this is shown in the next Chart. There is a very clear and consistent relationship between all three measure NASA temperature, NOAA CO2 and the IPCC temperature projections using the Anomaly system from about 1975 through 2005. This is of no surprise as the IPCC developed their Global Climate Models, GCM’s, to show this. It was the prevailing view in the environmental movement, at that time, that there was a direct link between CO2 levels and Global temperature.

There is an obvious departure shown here between the correlation between CO2 and Global temperature. From 1880 to 1900 CO2 is below Global temperature then from 1910 to 1950 its above Global temperature; its only from 1975 to maybe 1995 the CO2 and NASA Global temperature growth rates match. That is only a 20 year out of 134 years where this is a match which is only 14.9%.

0001-07 Anomalies

However, there is a developing problem as NASA Global temperatures are no longer following the IPCC projections even though CO2 is going up as expected. The current deviation is almost a quarter of a degree Celsius now which can be seen in the above Chart as the blue NASA plot is below the IPCC and NOAA plots by 20 units and if we divide by 100 that is .2 degrees Celsius.

Going back to the very first Chart in this series of the Global temperatures as calculated by NASA we saw that there appeared to be a pattern of ups and downs in the temperature and based on those ups and downs another down was due, and that is exactly what we see in the above Chart; the beginning of a down period.

There are other theories about Climate Change one of which is based on variations in solar radiation which affects the Blackbody temperature and variation is the suns magnetic field which affects cloud formation and Albedo. We have also shown in Part Five that there are global movements in temperature that have been observed going back to the last Ice Age some 11,000 years ago, but especially in the past 4,000 years. Using modeling techniques and curve fitting an alternative Climate model designated PCM was developed in 2007 that has proved to be very accurate in projecting the Global temperature published in the NASA LOTI table.

This model is based on a long cycle of approximately 1000 years a short cycle of almost 70 years and a factor for CO2 using a sensitivity value under 1.0 degrees Celsius. Using the same method of looking at anomalies from the NASA base of 1951 to 1980 we have the following plot of the PCM model. We have the overall upward movement, and the cycle of ups and downs as was observed in the NASA Global temperature plot we first showed. So is this plot better than the IPCC’s plot at matching the NASA data?

0001-08 Anomalies

In the next Chart we add the PCM model to previous one showing NASA Temperature NOAA CO2 and the IPCC Temperature projection plots. Although we do not have a perfect match going all the way back to 1880 it is just as good for the period 1970 though 2000 as the IPCC. But more importantly it is significantly better that the IPCC from 200 to the present since is shows a slight down trend just as does the NASA data.

0001-09 Anomalies

We’ll show one last Chart looking at the same 60 year period we used to look at the IPCC values close up. The next Chart adds the PCM model to that Chart and it’s very clear that the PCM model is significantly closer to that of the published NASA LOTI values for the entire period of NASA published Global temperatures. Although the PCM model does use a factor for CO2 it is not slowly dependant on CO2 for its projections; instead we have looked at past Global temperature movements and matched them with the more current CO2 sensitivity values found in the published papers and which was also previously shown in Part Three.

0001-10 Anomalies

A model is only as good as its projections or forecasts so based on the above Chart it is beyond dispute that the PCM model is significantly better than that of the IPCC. Further, since the PCM projects cooling and the IPCC projects warming the disparity will only get worse and worse.

The next part will be a discussion of the logic and equations used to develop the PCM Global climate model
