I almost guarantees war as you have Russian and US troops fighting in the same area on opposing sides; some what like Vietnam but much much worse. as the US is trying to topple Assad and Russia has military bases there that will end up being attacked by us back forces. If the conflict is not stopped its very hard to see that it does not go bad.
