DeSantis Beats Trump on Fundraising – However, Donor Financials Highlight Corporate Version vs Grassroots Version of The Republican Party

A solid dive by Law.Com and Daily Business Review into the background of who is financing Donald Trump versus who is financing Ron DeSantis should help to clarify the nature of the difference between them.

President Trump is funded primarily from massive amounts of small contributions from small donors, the MAGA base.

Governor Ron DeSantis is funded primarily by a small group of exclusive Wall Street corporations, billionaires and hedge fund managers, and almost no small donors.

Essentially, if you are thinking about MAGA populism -vs- corporate republicanism; well, there’s the issue in easiest to understand data form.

Additionally, the new managers of DeSantis have recently noticed the vulnerability and hired firms to try and stimulate small donor amounts in an effort to avoid the jaw dropping difference in average donation.  A strategy deployed by Jeb Bush in 2015.    Pay attention to the names giving large donations to DeSantis and you will see: (a) where the economic policy distinction comes from; and (b) where the RDS branding and consulting image is coming from.

Business Daily Review – Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has raised more money than Donald Trump since the former president left office, relying on deep-pocketed donors rather than the small-dollar contributors he’ll need if he seeks the White House in 2024.

DeSantis … has amassed $142 million from the start of 2021 through Aug. 5 this year from donors such as the hedge fund billionaires Ken Griffin and Paul Tudor Jones.  That tops the $136 million Trump collected over a slightly shorter period.

Unlike Trump, who relies largely on a network of small-dollar donors to fund his postpresidential political operations, DeSantis has raised the bulk of his money from a small number of wealthy donors writing him giant checks. That gives him plenty of money for his reelection effort in Florida, where laws allow unlimited contributions.

But it also raises doubts about the level of grassroots support for DeSantis and suggests he’ll have to widen his fundraising base for any presidential bid because federal rules limit direct contributions to candidates to just $2,900 per donor.

About 500 donors have given $50,000 or more to Friends of Ron DeSantis, his political action committee which under Florida law can accept donations in unlimited amounts, accounting for $88 million of his fundraising haul. His big donors come from finance and real estate, health care and construction and a wide range of other businesses, a Bloomberg analysis of Florida campaign finance filings shows.

By contrast, donors who made contributions of less than $200 accounted for $8 million, or just 6%, of his haul. Unlike Trump, who’s raised $74 million or 54% of his total from January 2021 through June 30 from small-dollar donors, DeSantis doesn’t send multiple, daily fundraising pitches to supporters. Recently his campaign went a month without sending a text message to potential donors who signed up to receive them.

His top 500 donors include 10 billionaires, including Citadel’s Griffin, who moved his hedge fund’s headquarters to Miami from Chicago 14 months after giving $5 million. Other contributors include Tudor Jones, the chief executive officer of Tudor Investment Corp., Home Depot Inc. co-founder Bernard Marcus and Thomas Peterffy, the chairman of Interactive Brokers Inc. Ron DeSantis has done a great job in Florida, mostly on social impact issues.  However, on a national policy level, specifically on a presidential level for 2024, the donor influence becomes troubling.

Issues around school choice, school boards, woke policy and social issues in general are easier to handle for voters at a local level.  City, county and state representatives, and the elections they come from, are the people and places where voters can make a substantive difference in their own outcome.

As a parent or individual you have the ability to fight back against social and ideological issues at a city, county and state level.   However, when it comes to issues of national economics, international trade policy and national energy policy, those battles happen at the federal level.  That’s where the President of the United States has a major influence.

As examples, the price of gasoline and energy are influenced by the president through regulatory policy.  Similarly, international trade agreements, economic policy and monetary policy, have consequences for domestic investment, economic growth, jobs, employment, wage growth and expanded domestic wealth.

Simply put, the president has a strong impact on the nation, and the people within it, from an economic perspective.

All modern republicans are incapable of executing a policy that is pro-U.S. worker, because every modern republican is a beneficiary of Wall Street, hedge funds and multinational corporate contributions; exactly like those outlined for Ron DeSantis.  As a consequence, economic policy adverse to the interests of Wall Street, Banks, hedge funds and multinational corporations do not come from modern republican politicians.

This dynamic reflects the distinction that made Donald Trump unique.

Unlike traditional republicans, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders both agreed on the problem.  Where they disagreed was the solution.

Donald Trump used domestic economic policy tools like trade tariffs and countervailing duties to change the corporate behavior of the multinationals.  Bernie Sander’s approach is to regulate the corporations and force a behavior change.

Put another way, Bernie wants to change the economic referees, while Trump’s approach is to change the economic rules of the game and let the teams play it.

You might remember a large percentage of Bernie Sanders voters joined team Trump in 2016.  That’s because both teams agreed on the problem within our national economic situation.   The result was MAGA, a massive coalition of working-class voters, based on economics, that cuts through every social distinction of race, color, sex, orientation, etc.  The issue that binds the MAGA voters together is economic policy.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is a good governor for Florida, and he should be reelected easily.  However, do not fool yourself into believing the massive coalition of MAGA voters would ever transfer to a corporate republican.  It will not. EVER.

When people ask me who should come in after Trump, my answer is simple….  Show me the economic nationalist.

If there isn’t another one,… well, what does that tell you about the Republican party?

Last point.  Florida republicans have a major blind spot they keep ignoring and DeSantis is very lucky Charlie Crist doesn’t have the resources to exploit it.

Housing costs, rents and homeowners’ insurance in Florida have skyrocketed.  In some places home insurance has tripled just this year; yes, tripled.  Energy costs also increased massively in Florida, in many areas electricity rates have doubled.  Water utility costs in Florida have consistently been the highest in the nation due to the nature of the infrastructure and rapid expansion of the population.  Additionally, property tax costs -even with homestead protections- are a serious issue for lots of voters.

Put those economic issues, all being ignored by the governor’s office – as he campaigns around the country to raise his national profile, on top of high gasoline and food prices and DeSantis is very vulnerable on the way Floridians feel about their economic security.

Focusing on wokeism and social issues is an option when economic issues are not in crisis.  However, focusing on social issues while ignoring the economic pain and crisis, and you find yourself looking detached. aloof and vulnerable to political attack….. Then again, a typical republican.

DOJ Submits Proposed Redactions for Mar-a-Lago Raid Affidavit

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on August 25, 2022 | Sundance

The DOJ had until noon today to submit their proposed redactions to the search warrant used in the Mar-a-Lago raid in order for the documents to be made public.  Highlighting the effort of Main Justice to delay any sunlight, the DOJ waited until the last moment to submit their filing.

With the DOJ submission in hand, Florida Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart will now review the proposal and decide which, if any, parts of the affidavit will now be released to the public.   Judge Reinhart was the judge who originally signed-off on the search warrant.  It is likely he will go along with the redactions, although there is a slight possibility, he may propose an alternative.

Lawyers for media have requested the full unredacted release of the affidavit, and representative of President Trump have also requested a full unredacted release.  Unfortunately, that scenario is extremely unlikely.

Joe Biden Claims He Had No Advance Notice of FBI Raid on Donald Trump Home, None, Zero, Not One Little Bit

Earlier this afternoon Joe Biden was questioned about how much notice he had regarding the FBI raid on President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

Question: “Mr. President, how much advanced notice did you have of the FBI’s plan to search Mar-a-Lago?

BIDEN: “I didn’t have any advanced notice. None, zero, not one single bit.”

The coming Civil War

Armstrong Economics Blog/Civil Unrest Re-Posted Aug 23, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

COMMENT: There has been and is increasing talk in all media of a coming ‘civil war’. Your article ‘Bidenomics & Vilification of Trump’ well explains the intentional polarization of the public and clearly states this will only end very badly.

The CW of 1861 Blue vs Grey, North vs South was a war of geography – of brother vs brother if one lived in a Blue state and the other in a Grey state. Armies were formed and deployed based on geography as much as ideology.

Now we have talk of a civil war between ‘patriots’ DJT supporters versus I guess the rest of everyone else, or so it is threatened to be by the media pundents and alarmists. But Martin, this smells like a classic psychological operation employing all of the media and a tiny element of probably paid for) violent extremists who like to dress in all black.
But how many Karen and Kens (Ds) are there that would actually take up arms because they don’t like Trump? How many because they love their electric cars? Will they begin shooting neighbors because of global warming?

The D politicians have never been able to provide any positive based reasons why they should be elected – only that they are anti-opponent – that might get a few votes but will not create an army. Your neighbor may be a liberal voter but is he armed and ready to start killing for these reasons? I think not.

Except for the DS/WEF/Globalists gang and probably a number of their armed 3 letter agencies. They control the media, have the jails, and the domestic physical enforcement personnel. They can use the media to try and create chaos, to cause false flag events in their favor, and shape public thought, and intern “create a media based CW”. A Wag The Dog CW.

They are the opposition – the enemy – the real danger. Do their combined numbers who could and actually would take up arms against the pubic even come to 1% of the nation? I doubt it.
Have a CW against this 1% and you could call it “the most civilized war a civilized society could possibly have”. IMO, this should be done by the professionals as soon as yesterday. Gitmo and military justice for treason.

REPLY: History whispers to us from the past because the one thing that is constant has always been Human nature. It really does not matter whatever the issue might be. Perhaps the most dominant reason has often been religion. Nero used that to blame the Christians for burning down Rome. The Diocletianic or Great Persecution was the last and most severe persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. This again was not out of personal hatred of Christians. This was after the Monetary collapse of Rome during the 260-268AD time frame. Diocletian (284-305AD)  persecuted the Christians because the general belief was that the gods were causing Rome to collapse BECAUSE of the Christians who were disrespecting the gods.

There was another religion rising known as the Manicheans. Diocletian issued an edict in 302AD against them as well for the very same reason – they were offending the gods who were punishing Rome. They were founded in the Persian Empire known as the Sassanid Empire and were followers of the prophet Mani (216-c.276). This became another widespread religion that infiltrated Rome, India, and China. It was based on a dualistic theology in which the theory was that the universe was divided between the divine plane of light and our own material plane of darkness. The Father of Greatness was not omnipotent, but he ruled the realm of light. Its opposite, the material realm, was controlled by the King of Darkness. These two forces did battle on both a cosmic and a personal level. Thus, within each individual soul, there was a battle. Manichaeism was clearly influenced by several other religions including Buddhism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism.

So, no matter where we look in history, there is this eternal conflict between two ideas – left v right. The media is fueling the hatred of Trump and as we can see the new strategy is to hate Republicans for the November election when Trump is not running. But they are portraying him as evil and he now controls all Republicans so you better vote Democrat. That is the message being sent out all over.

Here is a coin of Postumus who led the separation of Spain, France, and Britain to exist the Roman Empire. First, he was not trying to be another general who conquered Rome. He was pushing for separation and his coinage declare that he was “restoring” the region to sanity and safety. This is the most likely way we will see the United States split as is the case in Europe which will probably precede. I do not see armed armies leading the charge, nor do I see your neighbor picking up a gun and storming your house because you are the evil opposition. They will probably not speak to you and that is how it will begin.

Armies are created by the rulers. They demonize their opponent to get the people to be willing to die on the battlefield for some noble cause. The US Civil War was promoted on religious grounds. There were slave owners who abused their slaves and beat them and the majority did not. The worst part of slavery was they could sell your wife or child. That was different from serfdom where you went attached to the land and could not be sold individually. The South fought over state’s rights which they want to deny today, but economically, slaves were valuable. It all began with indentured servants which were people in England sold to a plantation owner for their sentence of 2 or 5 years for a misdemeanor crime. That is why the Constitution forbids indentured servitude.

Ending slavery was taking away the workforce and it mean economic destruction. The vast majority of soldiers who fought for the South were not slave owners. They fought against Federalism that was dictating what their economy should have been. The vast majority of solider in the Confederate Army did not have the wealth to own slaves. They were very expensive. Historically, the US will split along the same lines. The middle of the country will join with the South up to Montana. This will divide the nation into three parts as what took place in Rome. The Pacific States will be California, Oregon, and Washington. I am surprised that the Washington States has not moved to rename itself Wokeville since George Washington inherited enslaved people at the early age of eleven and was therefore a slave owner. Thomas Jefferson also inherited slaves with his wife. They have removed his statues in NYC already! The man who wrote the Declaration of Independence.

I would not expect the separation to come by force of arms. We will see this rise to a voting issue on both sides. Already on the 2022 ballot will be a question to secede from the United States in Texas and California. There are people talking about it here in Florida. The more Washington tries to impose its dictates on the States, we will see the rise in calling for secession from US. This was to be a union that retained state sovereignty. That was the US civil war and it will be again – just a different issue from slavery to economic slavery, climate mandates, vaccine mandates, and who knows what’s next – chip implants?

Report, Congressional Gang of Eight Wants to See FBI Affidavit and Trump’s Evidence Against Them Contained in Confiscated Documents from Mar-a-Lago Raid

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on August 22, 2022 | Sundance

It simply makes sense.  The legislative oversight group known as the “Gang of Eight” want to see the documents confiscated by the DOJ National Security Division from the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.  The reason and motives are simple.

If Donald Trump has evidence of the corruption in the Trump-Russia collusion fabrication and targeting effort, there would be evidence of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) participating in joint-effort with the DOJ and FBI.  When the FBI launched their 2016 targeting operation against candidate Donald Trump, it was the SSCI who coordinated with them.

[Current 2022 Gang of Eight Group]

First the report from Politico:

The group of congressional leaders charged with reviewing the most sensitive intelligence information has asked the Biden administration for access to the documents seized from former President Donald Trump’s private residence in Florida, according to two people with direct knowledge of the request.

The inquiry from the so-called “Gang of 8” comes as lawmakers from both parties seek to learn more about the unprecedented investigation into the former president. And it suggests that Congress is unwilling to be a bystander in the political and legal fallout following the FBI’s Aug. 8 search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla.

It follows a similar request from Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Vice Chair Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who asked the nation’s top intelligence official to draw up an assessment of possible national-security risks related to Trump’s handling of the sensitive documents.

The Gang of 8 includes the top two congressional leaders in each chamber — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy — as well as the top Democrat and Republican on the House and Senate intelligence committees.

A spokesperson for the Senate Intelligence Committee declined to comment. A representative for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence also declined to comment. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for a Gang of 8 member indicated that a specific request hadn’t been signed onto by all eight lawmakers but acknowledged that congressional oversight is ongoing. (read more)

When the Trump targeting operation began in 2015/2016, Dianne Feinstein was the Vice Chair of the SSCI, and her lead staffer was Dan Jones.  You might remember that Jones left the committee to coordinate anti-Trump efforts outside government and work as a liaison back to the committee.  The Chair of the SSCI was Richar Burr.

After Trump’s surprising 2016 victory, Feinstein stepped down to allow Senator Mark Warner to become Vice-Chair, thereby putting Warner on the Gang-of-Eight in January of 2017.

Senator Warner was then responsible for: (a) continuing the attacks and investigation of Trump; (b) covering up the prior work done by the SSCI to target Trump; and (c) working to appoint a special counsel in order to mitigate the risk, while throwing a bag over the prior activity.

When the FBI came under scrutiny (ex. FISA warrant), the corrupt actors within the DOJ and FBI collaborated *ONLY* with the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI).  The same DOJ and FBI stonewalled the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) which was then led by Chairman Devin Nunes.

The corrupt entities in the DOJ/FBI would only work with the SSCI not the HPSCI, because it was the SSCI who was working hand in glove with them on the targeting operation.  That’s why the SSCI, Mark Warner Vice-Chair with Security Director James Wolfe, was given a copy of the Carter Page FISA application on March 17, 2017.  At the exact same time the DOJ and FBI were blocking the House intelligence committee from seeing it.

Senator Mark Warner wanted the FISA application as a tool to leak to the media as part of the effort to help the DOJ get Andrew Weissmann and Robert Mueller installed as the special counsel.  Weissmann/Mueller would be the cover-up and continued targeting group.

Mark Warner and James Wolfe received the FISA on March 17, 2017, from the FBI (carried by agent Brian Dugan).  Shortly after 4:00pm on March 17th, Warner and Wolfe then leaked the FISA application to the media (Ali Watkins). Two days later FBI Director James Comey testified before the House committee (March 20) publicly admitting for the first time that President Trump was under investigation.

These days in March 2017 became the narrative opening for the leaked FISA to support the installation of a special counsel a few weeks later. All of it carefully coordinated.

The background collusion and assist motive was also why SSCI vice-chair Mark Warner was covertly in contact with Adam Waldman (2017), the lawyer for Chris Steele, while continuing to operate the parallel Trump targeting and DOJ/FBI cover-up operation from the SSCI.  Warner’s skill at this process is why Feinstein abdicated her chair to him at the beginning of Trump’s term.

If the Gang of Eight is currently trying to see what documents President Trump held in Mar-a-Lago, what they are really trying to see is what evidence President Trump has against them.

Watch carefully now….

Watch how the DOJ-NSD and FBI respond to the Gang of Eight.  If they follow the pattern, then Main Justice will likely support legislative oversight only through the SSCI.

President Trump Announces Court Filing Against DOJ and FBI for Fourth Amendment Violations

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on August 19, 2022 | Sundance

Earlier this afternoon on Truth Social, President Trump expanded his position on the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago home and announced an upcoming motion to the court for violations of his fourth amendment rights against unwarranted search and seizure. [LINK]

The easiest approach for President Trump’s legal team to take would be the generalized nature of the search warrant.  The Fourth Amendment specifically prohibits the government using general warrants to search private belongings of individuals.

Fourth Amendment – “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

The warrant as issued:
