The Fed & the Misinformation

Armstrong Economics Blog/Central Banks Re-Posted Jan 11, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

QUESTION: Marty, I was there at your Berlin conference when one of the attendees openly admitted he was from the Bundesbank. He was very open about it. There have been other central bankers at your WEC. I suppose they have to attend just to get a whiff of the trend. Powell has come out and asserted the Fed’s independence and it will not make policy based on climate change. That was very refreshing.  The bulk of analysts still cry about the creation of money at the Fed are insisting that a recession is coming because when the Fed stops printing, we will see a correction worse than 2008. Some call this a confetti party. Many claims to be fed watchers, but have never stepped inside their door. Meeting the people I have at your WEC events, you are always in the center and I can see it is not your opinion but Socrates that they want to listen to for an unbiased view. So will there be a huge correction when this party is over or have the fed watches been talking sophistry with no real insight?

PS: What about a Dubai WEC because the world imposes vaccine passports?

ANSWER: I know, This is the typical myopic domestic view that the Fed is in a very dangerous situation and a wrong move in any direction could cause a financial system meltdown worse than 2008. The argument is that since we have a debt-based monetary system if the Fed stops increasing the money supply this will lead to an economic withdrawal process that will be worse than 2008-2009. Once more, this is only looking at the domestic economy. They live with blinders on and do not see the world around us with respect to the globalization policies that are all in chaos.

Even at Davos in 2003, Alejandro Toledo, then President of Peru, urged the participants to listen to the voices of those protesting outside and to build a bridge with the participants of the Porto Alegre anti-globalization conference. “We must give a human face to the global economy and globalization,” he said. “Managing the economy is not an end in itself, but a means to improve the quality of life. Globalization is meaningless if it does not contribute to reducing poverty all over the world. “ Schwab preaches equality but at the price of Authoritarianism and the loss of individual rights.

The Fed is not between a rock and a hard place domestically. It just made it clear that it is not like the ECB and is not in the climate change business. The Fed is INDEPENDENT and will not be bullied by Biden. The Fed understands that it has become the world’s central bank and its actions in raising rates have had a far greater impact externally particularly in emerging markets because so many other nations issue their debt in US dollars.

The focus is not entirely on the nonsense of the domestic number of the money supply. If a foreigner buys property in the United States, they convert their currency to dollars, and in effect that increases the domestic money supply for that capital now free up cash domestically. The Fed has no control over that aspect and central banks have become aware of this effect which is not taught in economics class and not factored into the doomsday forecasts all based on the same reasoning forever.

All the analysis is constantly based on the Quantity Theory of Money which no longer works in our global economy. That was the foundation of the money theory that emerged with Sir Tomas Greshan who was the agent for the British crown. He saw that when Henry VIII debased the coinage, the value declined in Amsterdam when the exchange rate was solely based upon the metal content of the currency.

All we have ever heard is that the Fed has the power to create money out of thin air. They never explain why the Fed was given that power. You cannot have a fixed money supply as the population increases, then you end up with DEFLATION which is the rise in the value of money. They are married to the argument and nothing you can do will deter them from that saying. During the Great Depression, people hoard their money and do not spend it. That was why the ECB went to negative to try to force people to spend money. You can DOUBLE the money supply but if the people hoard it, you will never create inflation.

Because people hoard their cash, there was a huge contraction in the velocity of money. This resulted in massive shortages and it led to over 200 cities issuing their own money to try to enable a local economy to still function for there was not enough cash to even pay anyone for services.

INFLATION is actually the decline in the purchasing power of the currency as measured against assets. DEFLATION is the rise in the value of money and the decline in the value of assets. The way the term “inflation” is handled today, the government puts the blame on the private sector. During DEFLATION we are blamed for not spending our money.

All this talk about bail-ins and bail-outs misses the point. They act as if they in the end really matter. HYPERINFLATION will never arrive based on increasing the money supply. It arrives with the collapse of CONFIDENCE in the government. Germany imposed a forced loan and confiscated 10% of everyone’s assets in December 1922. Germany lost the war and in 1918 there was a Communist Revolution that led to the creation of the Weimar Republic. The money supply increased 10 fold during 1922 when they were struggling to meet the reparation payments. That undermined the confidence in the government. But it was December 1922 when they confiscated  Note that the hyperinflation took off in 1923 after that forced loan. It was no longer safe to have assets in banks.

This idea that we are headed into so black hole all because the Fed creates money is insane. That misinformation that the German Hyperinflation was all because of printing money was totally absurd and a lie. Once the government stole 10% of everyone’s assets, that was the final straw. They then had to print just to try to cover costs and meet reparation payments.

The Lesson of Germany is seriously distorted and has inflected the view of money supply and inflation which ignores the actions of the government. That is the real issue.

Gaetz Confirms GOP Congress Intent to Release 14,000 Hours of J6 Tapes and Material That Has Been Hidden

Earlier today Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL) appeared with Charlie Kirk to discuss the changes in tactics and approach within the GOP controlled House. {Direct Rumble Link – Full}

Within the interview Gaetz states that Kevin McCarthy will support the full release of information that has been hidden by the J6 committee. “Kevin McCarthy told us he’s going to get the evidence out in front of the American people, and that means releasing the 14,000 hours of tapes that have been hidden that I think would give more full context to that day, rather than the cherry-picked moments that the January 6th committee tried to use to inflame and further divide our country,” he said. WATCH:

Full Interview Below, which I strongly recommend.   In the full interview Matt Gaetz goes into the deep weeds of the House rules changes.   It surely seems like this young man has matured in Congress to be a very deliberate force with specific understanding of strategy.   Listen to the first 7 minutes of the video below and you will see what I mean.

Biden’s Stolen Classified Documents Relate to U.S. Government Activity in Ukraine

Posted originally on the CTH on January 10, 2023

In the final days of the Obama and Biden administration, in mid-January of 2017, Joe Biden visited Ukraine and the people in/around the government were perplexed about the actual intent of the visit.   Why was it important for Joe Biden to visit Ukraine in the last week of the Obama administration? [Source]

Keep in mind that CNN receives information from the State Department.  The Dept of State and CNN have a collaborative relationship; so, when CNN receives “exclusive information” from “exclusive sources”, and the issues generally pertain to foreign affairs, we can be generally confident the information comes from the State Dept.

Apparently, according to CNN sources, the classified documents that Joe Biden took with him from the Obama administration, pertain to U.S. government affairs related to Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom.

(Via CNN) – Among the items from Joe Biden’s time as vice president discovered in a private office last fall are 10 classified documents including US intelligence memos and briefing materials that covered topics including Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The documents were dated between 2013 and 2016, according to the source.

They were found in three or four boxes also containing unclassified papers that fall under the Presidential Records Act, the source said.

The vast majority of the boxes in the office contained personal Biden family documents, including materials about Beau Biden’s funeral arrangements and condolence letters, the source told CNN. It is not clear if the boxes with classified documents contained personal materials. (read more)

Considering how the Biden family syndicate, specifically Hunter Biden, was deeply enmeshed in the Ukraine energy sector via Burisma Holdings and the family interests as an outcome of the vice president using his influence to sell U.S. policy therein, it would seem that Joe Biden was securing classified documents favorable to his corrupt financial interests.

Those classified Ukraine documents were then transferred to the Penn-Biden office facility. “The documents were discovered when Mr. Biden’s personal attorneys “were packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.,” Sauber said in a statement to CBS News.” (link)

It would make sense the documents would be related to corrupt U.S. government activity as it relates to the use of foreign policy for financial gain.   The similarity of purpose between the Biden syndicate and the Clinton syndicate are similar, and Joe Biden was previously Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, prior to Barack Obama selecting him as the 2008 VP nominee.

What the Senate Intelligence Committee (SSCI) is to the CIA and Intelligence Community, so too is the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to the U.S. State Dept.

This larger aspect would also explain why the people in/around Joe Biden selected Anthony Blinken as Secretary of State and Jake Sullivan (former Clinton aide) as National Security Advisor.  Both Blinken and Sullivan are skilled bagmen familiar with the process of selling U.S. foreign policy for their principals, Joe and Hillary.

If the House begins peeling back the layers of the Hunter Biden laptop, eventually they will find evidence of Joe Biden selling foreign policy as a method for personal financial gains.  The trail has been very well documented in the lead-up to his run for higher office.  It would make sense the classified documents relate specifically to this aspect of the Biden crime syndicate.

As Vice President Joe Biden Took Classified Documents from White House to Private Office Storage in Washington DC

Posted originally on the CTH on January 9, 2023 | sundance

According to multiple media reports, it was discovered a week prior to the midterm election that Joe Biden had removed classified documents from his term as Vice-President to a private office in the Penn Biden Center.   The nature of the classified documents is unknown.

The notification from Biden lawyers to the DOJ, presumably on November 2nd, 2022, was kept under wraps until today when CBS first broke the news.   It should be noted that as vice-president Joe Biden held no declassification authority, so removal of the classified material is a much larger breech than the claimed comparison to President Trump declassifying documents and taking them to Mar-a-Lago.

The motive for the public disclosure is somewhat interesting.  Is the publicity through CBS, a known friendly narrative engineering firm for the interests of the Democrat apparatus, a specifically timed release against the backdrop of a DOJ decision not to prosecute President Trump for similar issues?  Something to consider.

(CBS News) – […] The material was identified by personal attorneys for Mr. Biden on Nov. 2, just before the midterm elections, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president confirmed. The documents were discovered when Mr. Biden’s personal attorneys “were packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.,” Sauber said in a statement to CBS News.

The documents were contained in a folder that was in a box with other unclassified papers, the sources said. The sources revealed neither what the documents contain nor their level of classification. A source familiar told CBS News the documents did not contain nuclear secrets.

Sauber also said that on the same day the material was discovered, Nov. 2, the White House counsel’s office notified the National Archives, which took possession of the materials the following morning.

“The discovery of these documents was made by the President’s attorneys,” Sauber said. “The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the Archives. Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives.”

A source familiar with the matter said representatives from the National Archives then notified the Justice Department.

Garland assigned U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch to find out how the material marked classified ended up at the Penn Biden Center. The review is considered a preliminary step, and the attorney general will determine whether further investigation is necessary, including potentially appointing a special counsel.

Lausch was nominated to be U.S. attorney by former President Donald Trump, and he is one of only two current Trump-era U.S. attorneys still serving. The other is Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who is leading an investigation into the president’s son, Hunter Biden.

Lausch recently briefed the attorney general and will eventually submit a final report to Garland. The review is expected to conclude soon.

The Penn Biden Center is a think tank about a mile from the White House, in Washington, D.C., that is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and named for the sitting president. (read more)

CTH research revealed the Mar-a-Lago document issue was essentially a nothingburger.  The documents in the Trump case likely connected to the DOJ and FBI operation against the Trump campaign and administration, with much of the information being made public prior to his departure from office.

The FBI/DOJ hype around the Mar-a-Lago issue was intended to be what it was, another round of anti-Trump narrative engineering by elements of the DOJ/FBI and same entities who carried out all previous Trump-Russia antagonisms.  Eventually the wild stories about nuclear secrets were even debunked and admitted by the Washington Post.

Former DNI John Ratcliffe, a man presumed to have seen the Mar-a-Lago documents, suspected the documents were essentially DOJ and FBI work products, including interviews with ‘sources’ like Igor Danchenko, from their fabricated case against President Trump.  Under this scenario, the objective of the DOJ/FBI would be to avoid sunlight on their political targeting operation.  The Ratcliffe viewpoint makes sense when you consider the DOJ/FBI position that no one should ever be allowed to look at those documents, including the appointed Special Master in the case, Judge Raymond Dearie, whom they fought to get removed.

If I had to hazard a guess about what classified documents VP Biden would want to take from the White House during the Obama era, they likely included some form of blackmail material in the event that Obama Inc ever tried to strong arm or threaten the Biden crime syndicate politically.  Documents likely containing dirt on nefarious issues related to the Obama administration that Biden could hold as leverage, an insurance policy of sorts.

It’s interesting the name John Lausch resurfaces as he was the Chicago area DOJ selected by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions to review all of the DOJ/FBI material that was not being given to the House Judiciary Committee, and then act as the arbiter/negotiator for release.  This was 2018.

Unknown to us at the time of the Lausch involvement in the document argument was the extent of control the Weissmann and Mueller teams had over the DOJ.

As we said at the time, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has not been able to stop, stall or disrupt their ongoing activity of the corrupt DOJ and FBI elements remaining in 2017/2018.  Team Mueller was simply better than Team Sessions, and they operated as an insurgency.

Jeff Sessions was marginalized and getting his ass kicked by his own department, and then eviscerated by President Trump and the media.  Jeff Sessions appeared weak, ineffective and inept because the Attorney General was weak, ineffective and inept.

Sessions appointed John Lausch to the task of document review in an effort to give the outward impression that he was doing something to combat the stonewalling from inside the DOJ and FBI toward congress; a stonewalling ultimately being carried out by Andrew Weissmann and crew, that AG Jeff Sessions couldn’t control.

John Lausch was appointed by Sessions in 2018 to try and get the criticism to tamp down.  However, it went nowhere.  Now his name resurfaces as the arbiter of whether or not Joe Biden violated the law.

Republican House Rules Package Passes, All Republicans Vote Support Except Two Texans

Posted originally on the CTH on January 9, 2023 | sundance

I get a lot of flak for saying Texas is the next Georgia when it comes to professional politics and the ideological shift from Red to Blue.  However, the grief matters not, because the reality of Texas turning left is very real even if Texans don’t want to admit it; here’s yet another datapoint.  The only two GOP congressmen who did not support the reformed rules package were both from Texas.  Representative Tony Gonzales voted against it, and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, did not vote.

Overall, the House of Representatives passed the rules package Monday night 220-213 with relatively little drama. It was the first order of business for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s new majority on the first day of the 118th legislative session. The 55-page package includes most of the concessions McCarthy made to the conservative caucus.

The new rules include the motion to vacate provision, allowing just one member to make a motion to remove the House speaker – one of the top conservative demands that will keep McCarthy in check.

WASHINGTON DC – The House rules plan that amounted to Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s first legislative victory on Monday night brings much bigger consequences than 55 pages suggest — it will shape the chamber’s operations and what bills can win approval over the next two years.

Adoption of the rules package is a routine step in setting up any new Congress, but what is traditionally seen as a “housekeeping” issue will effectively determine how Republicans can govern the chamber. That’s why the rules measure was the centerpiece of high-stakes negotiations between McCarthy and the crop of rebellious conservatives who kept from the gavel for much of last week, talks that started just after the House was called for Republicans in November.

[…] At the heart of the rules push by rank-and-file conservatives, including many in the Freedom Caucus, is a desire to shape a more inclusive legislative process that concentrates less power with leadership. To that end, they have secured promises from leaders that aren’t formally written down in the rules, such as allowing more amendments to be considered on the floor and more widely distributing committee positions. We have a few more election cycles to stop the arc of history from repeating itself.  However, it is best to be prepared just in case….  Because if the slow descent into controlled chaos and big government dependency continues, the more self-sufficient you are – the longer you will be able to retain a freedom lifestyle of familiar reference.

Stay gray and remember, the potato alliance grows underground and gains multiple eyes in sunlight.

Interesting Angle – New York Times, Which Means FBI and DOJ, Worried the New House Subcommittee on Fed Weaponization May Review Special Counsel Activity

Posted originally on the CTH on January 9, 2023 | sundance

The Washington Post speaks for the CIA, IC and DNI.  The New York Times and Politico speak for the FBI, DOJ-NSD and DHS concerns, while CNN is the representative voice of the U.S. State Dept.   These are the constants in the ever-changing world of narrative engineering.  Never forget them.

As a direct result of the concerns expressed within a New York Times article, it’s abundantly clear the FBI and DOJ-NSD are worried about the new House Subcommittee on Federal Weaponization of Government.  Specifically, the concern of the DOJ/FBI is the potential for the committee to start looking behind the curtain at the activity and intents of the special counsel operation.

(New York Times) – […] The resolution appears to give him authority to subpoena the Justice Department for information about the special counsel inquiry into Mr. Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election and his handling of classified documents, along with other politically charged matters like an open tax investigation into President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

The text of the resolution would also grant Mr. Jordan’s panel the power to receive the same highly classified information that intelligence agencies make available to their oversight committee, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Intelligence Committee members have access to some of the most sensitive secrets in the government, including information about covert actions, which are not shared with other lawmakers. Traditionally, House leaders tend to place on the intelligence panel members of their party they think are especially trustworthy not to disclose classified information.

While Mr. Jordan’s investigative unit will be housed within the Judiciary Committee, its 13 members — eight of whom would be Republicans — will not be limited to lawmakers on that panel. (read more)

It would appear the FBI and DOJ are concerned that congressional oversight is a risk to their activity.  The advanced PR firm for the conduct therein is always Politico and/or the New York Times.  This subcommittee has them collectively and understandably triggered.

If the House actually uses the power they have, they could begin to finally counteract the years of corruption and politicization of the agencies they are expected to conduct oversight upon.  However, using that power requires the full-throated support of the House Speaker, and that’s where things get tenuous.

An entirely new approach is going to be needed if the intent of the subcommittee is going to be successful as expressed.   Part of that new approach is going to require a much more adversarial approach and new rules therein.

Breaking through the silo issue is not as difficult as it seems, but it requires outside the box use of communications and strategy.  We should know by the end of this week whether or not this subcommittee will be up to the task.  If they are, they will have my support.

Either way, I will not pull punches for readers on what we should expect or not expect.   There are many approaches the subcommittee could take in order to use the known history of the weaponization to tell the story.  The question is whether they have the will to do it.

CTH knows the methods used by the deepest part of the administrative state to retain their power system and corrupt activity.  We also know the ways to defeat the system that has been created.  If the subcommittee wants help, I will organize support.

And as always, I will keep watching closely – predicting and calling out what to expect.

Sunday Talks, Matt Gaetz -vs- The Talking Gnat

Posted originally on the CTH on January 8, 2023 | Sundance

Matt Gaetz appeared on Fox News to discuss the Speaker nomination process and the valiant efforts of the 20 House Republicans that battled the 410 UniParty members.

Gaetz did a great job articulating the purpose of the effort, the success in the negotiations and the outcome that will benefit all Americans.  That said, the insufferable Fox News Gnat assigned to the task of diminishing the outcome eventually asked Gaetz, “Do you consider yourself a serious legislator?”  WATCH:

.

Representative Matt Gaetz is emerging as a very articulate enemy against the professional political class.  His arguments are well centered, his thoughts are well articulated, and he has improved his debate and communication skills considerably through constant training in the field of ideological combat.  Quite remarkable growth.

It is highly likely that Kevin McCarthy will seek to isolate and marginalize Mr. Gaetz. However, it appears the young wolverine is up to the challenge.
