The Price of Dying – Repeal the Estate Tax

Posted originally on Jan 26, 2024 By Martin Armstrong

Angel of Death

They say the only two certainties in life are death and taxes. And taxes on dying if you’re in the US. That’s right, the luxury of death comes with a price in the land of the free, thanks to the death tax. Now, Republicans are working to introduce legislation that would allow Americans and their families to rest in peace, free of charge.

The estate tax, or death tax, was first executed in the United States in 1916 as a means to generate revenue for the federal government. Supporters said it would address concerns about wealth concentration. The tax has been rewritten and revised over the years and numerous states have imposed their own death tax on top of the federal one. This is not the same as the inheritance tax that directly taxes beneficiaries.

US Representative Randy Feenstra, a proponent of eliminating this absurd tax, believes this bill is hurting farmers in particular. I have heard similar sentiments from my own clients. People fled England to America to avoid government confiscation of property through taxation. Britain has a 100-year land lease program whereby you pay the actual fair value of the property you bought outright. At the end of that 100 years, the next tenant must pay the full fair value once again. This is how the “rich” made their money keeping it in the family and never selling land. It is also why Britain was forced to hand Hong Kong back to China after 100 years.

People fled to America so they could actually pass property down to their children like the rich landholding families in Britain. This was the origin of the term “freehold” meaning you could actually own the land. America was the land of opportunity because it was all freehold and people could for the first time rise from the poor rank to that of the rich by hard work, saving, and being able to create wealth for the family unit. This was the American Dream.

Failing to repeal this tax will change American agriculture. As Rep. Feenstra notes:

“Over 99% of our country’s two million farms and ranches and over 95% of our nation’s small businesses are owned and operated by individuals and families. In other words, the American economy is powered by mom-and-pop shops on main street and farms that have been in the family for generations. Naturally, the federal government only sees these incredible farms and small businesses as potential sources of tax revenue, completely ignoring the sacrifice and labor that made these enterprises successful.”

This is one of the reasons why the wealthy in China are buying US farmland. The manner in which governments globally treat farmers is shameful. The government is not our next of kin; we do not save our entire lives to provide a better life for government.

The Goths – Ancient Rome’s Migrant Crisis

Posted originally on Jan 26, 2024 By Martin Armstrong

GothMigration

The globalists refuse to declare the migrant crisis an “invasion,” but we have history’s guidance to show us what happens when an unsustainable number of people enter a nation. The Goths, a non-military group considered migrants, are a perfect example. These men, women, and children sought refuge within the Roman Empire. This was not an invading army but rather a fleeing population seeking safety from the Huns. The Goths, long-time foes of the Romans, appealed to be admitted to Roman territory due to the threat they faced and needed to seek asylum. This event led to significant consequences and marked a turning point in the history of the Roman Empire.

The great Gothic migration involved hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children. While, to some degree, the growing unrest in the East pushed them southward, there is also little doubt that the border defenses of the Roman Empire had also been seriously weakened by the political instability and economic pressures that were building within Rome itself. Of course, the rumor of great plunder and riches available in Roman territory acted like a magnet much in the same way as the rumors of streets paved in gold in America prompted great European migrations during the 19th and early 20th centuries or the outdated stereotype of the American Dream.

Maximinus I 235 238AD AE Sesterius R

By 238 AD, the Gothic position was so threatening to the Roman Empire that Emperor Maximinus was forced to pay them vast amounts of tribute, similar to how countries currently pay all expenses for migrants. While his aim may have been to buy time, this demonstrated weakness on the part of the Romans, who were still in the middle of internal political struggles for power. Internal imperial rivalries ultimately defeated Maximinis. Within less than four years thereafter, the Goths began a series of raids along the Danube.

PHILIP I AR Antoniniany Aequitas

A decade later and Philip I attempted to quell the influx of migrants, but died while battling his successor, Trajan Decius. Rome was simply decaying gradually from internal struggles, which weakened the economy and constantly pitted one legion against another in a struggle for power. We see internal struggles today throughout the West as politics continue to divide the people. The Romans did not consider the Goths to be a force that would threaten the entire Empire, but rather more as a barbarian force looking for plunder rather than power.

Dacia Map

Trajanus Decius declared the Goths an enemy and attempted to force them out of the empire, only for the masses to return a year later. The Goths were prepared this time and formed several strategic alliances with enemies, such as the Dacian Carpi. This led to a full-scale invasion, and the Roman Empire suddenly found itself besieged as war raged on in Moesia, Dacia, and even in Thrace, while the main body of the Gothic invasion was preparing a descent into the region of the Black Sea.

After many battles, the Goths emerged as the new masters of the entire Danube territory, all the way to the Black Sea. Trebonianus Gallus emerged as the new Emperor who could do nothing to reverse the Empire’s humiliating defeat. The Goths now turned to Illyricum and Thrace, burning and plundering their way across the region. By 253 AD, the Goths set sail along the Black Sea, headed straight for Asia Minor, which was wide open and waiting to be plundered.

Aurelian Walls 2

The Roman Empire was declining until Emperor Aurelian came to power and began restorative efforts, including anti-immigration policies. He not merely launched defensive measures, he moved on the offensive against the Goths and demolished them through a series of battles. The Goths were driven out of the Balkans and into Dacia. Aurelian also greatly restored the Black Sea defenses, which helped those regions rebuild their economies as well. However, Aurelian failed to pursue the barbarians into the Roman province of Dacia, pulling back and establishing the new border once again along the natural border as originally defined by Augustus – the Danube.

Aurelian Gold Bust

Aurelian’s decision to redraw the borders left Dacia in the hands of the Carpi and the Goths. Once the Goths were contained, they began to divide into two distinct groups – Ostrogothic and Visigothic kingdoms. These groups would evolve into powerful states that would ultimately bring down the Roman Empire in the West.

Those in favor of the Gothic migration stated that the newcomers would increase tax revenue and benefit the Roman economy. It was a humanitarian crisis and Rome’s responsibility to solve. Instead, the unsustainable influx of Gothic refugees contributed to the eventual fall of the Western Roman Empire. The event marked a turning point in Roman history and was part of a period in which the Roman Empire nearly collapsed under the combined pressures of invasion, civil war, plague, and economic depression. History always repeats.

Thank God for Truckers & Farmers

Canada Truck Protest
French_farmers_protests

The World needs to thank the Canadian Truckers. They have inspired so many around the world. The Farmers have staged massive protests in the Netherlands, then Germany, and now in France. Sources from even Southern France say it is impossible to get to work so many road are blocked.

At last, a US trucker convoy is preparing to head to several locations along the U.S.-Mexico border next week to draw more attention to President Joe Biden’s lax immigration enforcement policies Republicans have blamed for millions of illegal crossings.

“There will be a ‘Take Our Border Back’ multi-day trucker convoy from January 29th through February 3rd,” Rep. Keith Self (R-Texas) wrote in an X post. “Routes will end at Eagle Pass TX, Yuma AZ, and San Ysidro CA.”

The U.S. convoy has been inspired by the protest movements in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. Truckers gathered around government buildings in Ottawa and border checkpoints to oppose the nation’s strict vaccine mandates. Trudeau passed an Emergency Act to oppress the people in a ruthless manner probably as he was taught by the World Economic Forum.

In response to the protests, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the nation’s “Emergencies Act” to effectively declare a form of martial law, leading to the clearing out of protesters by riot police and the arrest of leaders who also had their bank accounts seized.

In case you didn’t catch this – The Canadian Federal Court found that Trudeau’s decision to declare the Emergencies Act was ultra vires “unreasonable” and “unjustified” – and that the measures violated the Charter.

“1. The Respondent’s motion for an order striking the application for judicial review is

denied and the Court exercises its discretion to determine the matter notwithstanding

that it is moot in view of the revocation of the Proclamation and termination of the

associated Regulations and Order;

2. The Applicant is granted public interest standing to bring this application for judicial

review;

3. It is declared that the decision to issue the Proclamation and the associated

Regulations and Order was unreasonable and ultra vires the Emergencies Act;

4. It is declared that the Regulations infringed section 2 (b) of the Charter and declared

that the Order infringed section & of the Charter and that neither infringement was justified under Section 1

5. no costs were awarded”

Canadian Federal Court Rules Use of Emergency Powers to End Trucker Protests Was Unconstitutional

Posted originally on the CTH on January 24, 2024 | Sundance

Justin from Canada and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, used the invocation of the Canadian Emergency Powers Act to seize Truckers’ and their supporters bank accounts, block mortgages, eliminate loans and credit cards, seize personal assets and otherwise use financial mechanisms to target their political opposition.

Yesterday a federal judge in Canada ruled the use of the Emergency Powers Act was unconstitutional.

CANADA –  […] On Feb. 14, 2022, the federal government invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time in its history, arguing at the time that the national security risks stemming from the protests justified its use.

The move allowed the federal government to enact wide-sweeping but temporary powers to help officials crack down on protesters’ access to funds, grant the RCMP jurisdiction to enforce local laws, designate critical infrastructure and services, and impose fines and imprisonment on participants who refused to leave the protest zone.

“I have concluded that the decision to issue the Proclamation does not bear the hallmarks of reasonableness – justification, transparency and intelligibility – and was not justified in relation to the relevant factual and legal constraints that were required to be taken into consideration,” stated Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley.

Mosley added that “there can be only one reasonable interpretation” of the Emergencies Act and CSIS Act, and that he believes “the legal constraints on the discretion of the GIC to declare a public order emergency were not satisfied.”

Mosley also stated that, factoring for the definition of a “national emergency” under the Act, “there was no national emergency” to justify its use, and that “the decision to do so was therefore unreasonable” and beyond the powers of the law. (read more)

The Collapse in Confidence

Confidence in Government

QUESTION: Dear Martin – you often speak of CONFIDENCE in the government and there are many arrays you share that indicate confidence or lack thereof (Interest rates, Gold, Bonds, Indexes, Forex and others). All of these are open to interpretation by Socrates subscribers, and of course your respective, priceless commentary you share with us. What I’ve always wondered is if there is a Socrates array specifically called ‘Confidence in the Government’? That would indeed be the array of arrays!
Kind regards.

ECM 2011 2020 Detailed

REPLY: That is an idea. I warned that the peak 2015.75 of the previous wave was the PEAK IN GOVERNMENT. Ever since then, the confidence in government has been declining. We had Hillary calling everyone who voted for Trump a deplorable. Merkel opened the gates to allow the “refugees” from Syria to flood in, and they came from everywhere, which undermined the stability of the governments in Europe and prompted the vote on BREXIT. BY 2016, we learned about Hillary’s emails and the private server she set up to sell influence so that it would not be subject to the Freedom of Information Act discovery. Then she launched the fake dossier claiming Trump was a puppet of Putin, beginning the whole Russian Conspiracy scandal. Within a year, the US banned Russia Today (RT), claiming it was a foreign agent thanks to Hillary.

We monitor sentiment, and there is no question about it. Ever since COVID-19, trust in the institutions of Democracy has been visibly declining. In the past five years, the European Union’s official research bureau found that less than 30% of Europeans had faith in their national parliaments and governments. This has produced the lowest figures in years and indicates what we face heading into 2032. This means that 70% of the people distrust Brussels and their own governments. Typically, the danger of civil unrest and even revolution emerges when this falls below 30%.

When we look objectively around the world, in the West, political parties are the least trusted compared to Russia or China. Traditionally, the cornerstone of a free society is the fundamental right to remain a skeptic of government and those in power. When that is stifled, society is no longer considered to be a free society.

Revolution unfolds as people’s interest in politics grows because of events while trust in politics continues to decline. This is reflecting the very stability of a nation is being undermined by the sheer attempt to manipulate society and impose dictates from a central authority, which is precisely the same tactic under Communism that caused its collapse.

Supreme Court Rules 5-4 That State Authorities Cannot Protect American Citizens from Illegal Border Entry

Posted originally on the CTH on January 22, 2024 | Sundance

In a 5-4 ruling today [pdf Available Here], Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joined with the radical leftists on the court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, to say that Texas is not permitted to protect itself from illegal border crossers.  None of the justices provided any explanation for their vote.

The court majority sided with the Biden administration policy of removing razor wire to permit illegal alien entry without impediment.  Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas voted with Texas, in favor of national border integrity.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court on Monday allowed Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire that Texas installed on the U.S.-Mexico border, while a lawsuit over the wire continues.

The justices, by a 5-4 vote, granted an emergency appeal from the Biden administration, which has been in an escalating standoff at the border with Texas and had objected to an appellate ruling in favor of the state.

The concertina wire along roughly 30 miles (48 kilometers) of the Rio Grande near the border city of Eagle Pass is part of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s broader fight with the administration over immigration enforcement. (read more)

God, I pray for stability right now, because this is infuriating.

The irony and hypocrisy of the Supreme Court having a security perimeter for their own security yet dismissing the establishment of a security perimeter for the citizens of the country is not lost on me.

I am beyond angry!

The Plan for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)

Posted originally on Jan 22, 2024 By Martin Armstrong

Unelected globalists at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have been working on the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the past decade, which is step one for the digital ID system.

“Digital public infrastructure (DPI) is a shared means to many ends. It is a critical enabler of digital transformation and is helping to improve public service delivery at scale. Designed and implemented well, it can help countries achieve their national priorities and accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals. Governments, donors, the private sector and civil society alike have an opportunity to shape it – join us!”

Digital Identity Chart

Per usual, they are marketing this program as a convenient way for the modern-day man to access documents. Using the data from DPI, 100 countries are expected to progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

“Following the G20 Leaders Declaration in 2023, Digital Public Infrastructure is a key breakthrough that gives the momentum needed to change course and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, across all 17 SDGs. As new technologies advance at an exponential rate, there is an acute opportunity for entire communities to benefit from a growing array of life-changing digital solutions — from digital cash transfers to e-health – given proper investments in their own DPI.”

The plan is to track absolutely everyone, including the 2.6 billion people who do have access to the internet. Forget clean water, food, or shelter – let’s waste resources to compile their data. Speaking of resources, they are already requesting more funding since the pandemic “widened the annual SDG financing gap in developing countries from $2.5 trillion to $3.9 trillion, and similarly, available funds for DPI fall short of the escalating global needs.” Yes, trillion.

The program will even enable the globalists to completely censor the news. They said that this will tackle misinformation during elections, or rather, another tool for propaganda.

Bill Melinda Gates Foundation

None other than Bill Gates has a hand in this madness. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is supporting the “50 in 5” program that aims to help 50 countries develop their own DPI by 2028.

DPI will enable the globalists to promote SDG in the following ways:

  1. SDG1 No Poverty: DPI could lead to a cycle of increased economic resilience, added job opportunities and reduced poverty levels to help as many as 670 million people (or 8.4 per cent of the world population) living in extreme poverty.
  2. SDG5 Gender Equality: DPI could enhance service delivery to more than 250 million women.
  3. SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth: Enabling DPI can bring access to financial institutions for more than two billion people who do not have a bank account.
  4. SDG13 Climate Action: Using DPI for common Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems and interlinking carbon registries can reduce CO2 emissions equal to 3–4 percent of current LMICs’ emission reduction targets.

This is absurd. They want us to believe that they could eliminate poverty entirely by forcing every nation to hand over complete control to an unknown few. They want gender equality, but wait – what’s a woman? The only economic growth they see from this project is further taxation that will never benefit the people. Of course, they have to throw in climate change since that’s the main cash grab scare tactic.

Don’t you see? All of the world’s problems could be resolved if you abandoned your freedoms.
