German Economic Minister Announces Restart of Coal Power Plants for Electricity Due to NATO Sanctions and German Dependence on Russian Oil and Gas

To say the recent remarks from German Economic and Climate Minister Robert Habeck showcase the stupidity of the western sanctions would be an understatement.  In a broad energy policy announcement to the German people, Minister Habeck has announced that natural gas is now urgently being stored and built up in order to survive next winter.

Additionally, the German parliament is being called into emergency session to re-write climate laws allowing coal-fired electricity power plants to be brought back on-line.  Essentially, years of German renewable energy investments and initiatives are now being reversed in order to maintain the commitment to NATO sanctions against Russia.

You can read the full translated remarks HERE.  Some of the more stunning excerpts are below.

GERMANY – Minister Robert Habeck […] “The situation on the gas market has deteriorated in recent days. The missing quantities can still be replaced, and the gas storage tanks are still being filled, albeit at high prices. Security of supply is currently guaranteed. But the situation is serious. We are therefore further strengthening precautions and taking additional measures to reduce gas consumption.

[…] In order to reduce gas consumption, less gas is to be used to produce electricity. Instead, coal-fired power plants will have to be used more. […] That means, to be honest, more coal-fired power plants for a transitional period. That’s bitter, but in this situation it’s almost necessary to reduce gas consumption. We must and we will do everything we can to store as much gas as possible in summer and autumn. The gas storage tanks must be full in winter. That has top priority, ”said Habeck. (read full remarks)

In order to unbuckle themselves from dependence on Russian pipelines, Habeck also announced that floating Liquified Natural Gas terminals will have to be created so they can source LNG from other nations.   Currently Germany has no port system to offload LNG, they will be purchasing and leasing floating ships to act as LNG terminals.

I am reminded of the prior warning to Germany from U.S. President Donald Trump.  It’s worth remembering that U.S. media blasted President Trump for being so brutally honest in his NATO remarks where he warned about the danger of Germany being so dependent on Russia for oil and gas.  WATCH:

Sunday Talks, Treasury Secretary Yellen Claims Biden Energy Policy Not Responsible for Biden Energy Prices

Posed originally on the conservative tree house on June 19, 2022 | Sundance

This interview is nothing but gaslighting crazy talk from an insufferable ideologue who is responsible for managing the insane policy driven consequences of transitioning from oil, gas and coal into an era where windmills and solar panels provide U.S. electricity.  Janet Yellen is the decline manager.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen begins the interview by denying the U.S. economy is shrinking.  Literally in the first answer Yellen says the economy “has been growing at a very rapid rate as the labor rate has reached full employment, it’s natural now that we expect a transition to steady and stable growth.”  Obviously, in order to say the economy has been growing, Yellen needs to pretend not to know the first quarter GDP was -1.5% as measured.  But wait… it gets more ridiculous….

At 06:30 of the interview, Yellen claims with a straight face that U.S. energy policy, which includes massive amounts of new crushing regulations from Biden, is not responsible for U.S. oil and gasoline prices.   WATCH (prompted):

Get Beyond the Gaslighting – Media Now Falsely Claim Biden Administration Underestimated Negative U.S. Economic Impact from Russian Sanctions

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on June 15, 2022 | Sundance

I am tired and weary of the bullshit from every side of the political continuum -particularly the professionally republican idiots- that continue to hide the reality of the situation.  We are adults, let us talk honestly in the framework of reality; that will allow prudent preparation for the massive crisis we are about to experience.

When the tenant realizes they have a leaking fish tank, they realize they are going to be financially responsible for the water damage.  The tenant concocts a plan to avoid responsibility. The tenant intentionally loosens a pipe in the bathroom creating water damage, thereby hiding the fish tank leak.

The owner is now on the hook for the repair. The tenant escapes liability.

The people behind Joe Biden knew their radical transformation of energy policy was going to create massive economic damage.

The people behind Biden used the opportunity of the Ukraine-Russia conflict to trigger economic sanctions they knew would worsen the global inflation damage they were creating through energy policy.

Economic sanctions against Russia were as used as the broken pipe in the bathroom to hide the energy policy fish tank leak.  All of the media discussing the situation are now pretending not to know this.  The conservative pundits are a combination of pretending and too stupid to actually see what is happening.

BLOOMBERG – […] There’s no sign that administration officials feel their sanctions policy was a mistake or that they want to dial back the pressure. If anything, officials have said a key US goal is to ensure Russia can’t do to other nations what it has done in Ukraine.

But the collateral damage from the sanctions has been wider than expected.

When the invasion began, the Biden administration believed that if penalties exempted food and energy, the impact on inflation at home would be minimal. Since then, energy and food have become key drivers of the highest US inflation rates in 40 years, a huge political liability for President Joe Biden and the Democratic party heading into November’s mid-term elections.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said that she “was wrong” in believing last year that inflationary pressures would pass. One of the results that she’s now seeing is related to the spike in prices due to unexpected self-sanctioning, according to one person familiar with her thinking.

So while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has urged US businesses to cease operations in Russia, telling a joint session of Congress that the Russian market was “flooded with our blood,’’ the Biden administration has been encouraging some commerce, including for agriculture, medicine and telecommunications. For instance, the US government is quietly encouraging agricultural and shipping companies to buy and carry more Russian fertilizer, according to people familiar with the efforts, as sanctions fears have led to a sharp drop in supplies, pressuring food costs. Bloomberg is running this article as a distraction, directly implying the Biden administration did not realize how much additional damage the sanctions against Russia would create.  There are many articles of a similar nature by multiple outlets.  All of them are designed to ignore the reality of the situation.

We are rapidly assembling data now that will allow us to give CTH readers a real-world estimate of just how damaging things are going to be.

Tracking raw materials, supply chain costs, distribution limits, advanced and sequential purchase orders, as well as inbound costs associated with the supply chain for essential goods and services, we are nearing enough data to make a prediction.

In the fall of 2021 CTH was able to provide a 100-day countdown window to the first major wave of inflationary impacts.  Purchase orders cycling in net terms of 30, 60, 90 or 180 days allowed us to see the increases in product costs that were aggregating in the supply chain.  Readers watched in real time as those weeks and months passed giving us the exact outcome we expected.

While we still need a little more data to make the best possible prediction for the next 120-day forecast, I am relatively certain we can give an advanced estimate today.

A current shopping cart of traditional staple items at the supermarket (full basket) is roughly $300 representing about a $75 increase in price since early January 2022.   The $300 typical basket is essentially enough product to create 10 days of multiple purpose meals for the average family (4 people).

Using that $300 basket as the new baseline, I can predict the next wave of price increases will drive that single basket cost to $500 by late fall.  This is the scale of inbound inflation that is going to arrive at approximately the same time as the mid-term election.

As you can tell, the next wave of price increases is significantly larger than the two that preceded it.  The $300 shopping cart is going to cost around $500 when all of the increased costs are fully matriculated in the retail supply chain.  This is the scale of food store inflation you should be preparing for now.  Offsetting this cost increase is the challenge you should be considering right now.

More details will follow, but the final numbers are going to be close to this scale.

Russian Oil Boycott Fails

Armstring Economics Blog/Energy Re-Posted Jun 15, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

The West thought they’d cripple Russia’s economy when they stopped buying Russian oil. Gas prices in the West are on the rise and at unsustainable levels. Meanwhile, Putin is having the last laugh as he is now selling more oil at a higher price point.

In April, Russian oil exports rose by 620,000 b/d to 8.1 million b/d. India (+730,000 b/d) and Turkey (+180,000 b/d) helped to offset the international embargo, while the EU remained the largest importer despite a sharp reduction in shipments. The IEA reported that Russian oil exports rose over 50% YoY during the first four months of the year.

Oil jumped in price last week from $92 per barrel to $122. Gas in the US was $2.10 under Trump. Biden took office and prices rose to $2.37 within the first two months due to a series of decisions that prevented America from remaining energy independent. Before Russia even invaded, gas reached $3.51 per gallon, and now the national average is surpassing $5.00. The boycott has completely backfired on the West and has helped strengthen the Russian economy.

Biden Senior Climate and Energy Policy Advisor Demands Social Media Companies Immediately Block Content Identifying Biden Policy as Source of Energy Inflation

There is one big problem for the people inside the Biden administration executing the Green New Deal energy policy, the massive increases in energy cost including gasoline.

You see, everything is an academic estimate until the actual Green New Deal is transferred from theoretical policy into a set of actions that creates a major disruption in the economy.  As things in society start to collapse; and as people begin to really feel the inflationary consequences of the Biden energy policy in action; suddenly all of those ‘talking points’ about shutting down the fossil fuel industry take on a new meaning.   People didn’t realize the Green New Deal was going to mean $10/doz eggs, $15/gal milk, $20 happy meals at McDonalds, or $150/tank of gasoline…. Now they are paying attention.

For former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, the current senior climate and energy policy advisor within the White House, all of these ‘in your face‘ surfacing Green New Deal consequences have become problematic for the Biden administration.  Her proposed solution, however, is rather remarkable.

In this interview discussing the skyrocketing inflation and consequences created by the Green New Deal policies, Gina McCarthy urgently begs all of the social media companies to start removing the content from American people who are giving real world examples of the pain and economic hardship they are feeling.  McCarthy says that if social media do not start to help Joe Biden hide the pain, the climate change agenda might be at risk.  WATCH [11:00 prompted]:

Russia Gains More Ground in Donbas Region as Desperate Zelenskyy Arranges Emergency Meeting with France, Germany, Italy

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on June 12, 2022 | Sundance

The constant and strategic pressure by Russian military in eastern Ukraine is slowly and methodically taking more ground each day.  Russian troops have now encircled and captured the city of Severodonetsk, which will join Lysychansk under full Russian control within days, according to the Washington Post.

Ukraine forces are running out of supplies as the U.S. State Dept. tries to organize the battle formations on behalf of U.S. interests in the country.  The Russian advances are slow, methodical and very deliberate.  The Ukraine military is losing ground and Zelenskyy is calling for more western help urgently.

LVIV, Ukraine—The leaders of France, Germany and Italy plan to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv this week, officials said, as reports showed Russia making gains in the country’s east and Ukrainian officials urgently sought arms from Western nations to hold Russian forces at bay.

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi were planning to visit the Ukrainian capital on Thursday, said two European officials, who cautioned that plans could yet change. The trip would be the first to Ukraine since the beginning of the war for the three Western leaders.

News of the planned meeting came as Ukrainian officials said Russia had made fresh gains in its efforts to encircle and capture the city of Severodonetsk, which would bring Moscow significantly closer to its goal of controlling the Donbas area in the country’s east, its foremost target recently in the war.

Serhiy Haidai, the Ukrainian governor of the Luhansk region, which includes Severodonetsk, said on Sunday that Russians had destroyed a second bridge connecting Severodonetsk to Lysychansk, a Ukrainian stronghold just across the Siverskyi Donets river. Russian forces also shelled a chemical plant in the city’s industrial section, where civilians had taken shelter in bunkers, Mr. Haidai said.

The battlefield advances were the latest evidence that Russia is outgunning Ukrainian forces, using its superior artillery power to steadily take territory. Its gains have thrown added focus onto Ukraine’s pleas for more powerful and longer-range artillery and other weaponry from the West, as well as on Ukraine’s lack of capacity to manufacture ammunition for the Soviet-era heavy weapons in its arsenal. Biden Pushing To Lower Ocean Shipping Costs, Fight Inflation

By Newsy  Published on Rumble on June 10, 2022

“There’s only nine shipping companies, nine, N-I-N-E, major ocean line shipping companies who ship from Asia to the United States,” Pres. Biden said.

Note from Centinel: As with everything Brandon claims the shipping costs have gone up, but not because of the shipping companies but because of the policies of the U.S government under the current occupant of the White house. That stated with the lock down’s and the forced reduction of gasoline and diesel fuel on day one of Brandon’s four year term of office. The resulting bottle necks at the ports cause the ships to wait for weeks to get in to be unloaded and additional weeks for the trucks to get loaded so the good could be delivered. Once that process started it only grew worse as government is not capable of fixing problems that they have created, especially when the policies were intentional.

Did the American Rescue Plan Cause Inflation?

Armstrong Economics Blog/Inflation Re- Posted Jun 10, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

The Biden Administration reiterated that its $1.9 trillion 2021 American Rescue Plan awarded “resilience” to the US economy. The remarks come after the plan, and the administration’s overall spending, came under harsh criticism from economists on both sides of the political spectrum. Senior advisor Gene Sperling stated that the plan would actually help to bring down prices in the long run. On the contrary, Steven Rattner, who served as counselor to the Treasury secretary under Obama, believes the plan was the “original sin” that contributed to the price hike.

Larry Summers agrees with Rattner, previously saying there was a chance the package would “set off inflationary pressures of a kind we have not seen in a generation, with consequences for the value of the dollar and financial stability.”

“The American Rescue Plan saved our country from economic catastrophe, helped get millions of Americans back to work, and helped make sure American families had money in their pockets from tax cuts and rising wages,” a White House official reiterated. Global supply chain issues and pandemic restrictions caused inflation to rise in nearly every nation. However, inflation rose much faster in the US last year, even when excluding volatile energy and food prices.

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco analyzed the situation and determined: “Estimates suggest that fiscal support measures designed to counteract the severity of the pandemic’s economic effect may have contributed to this divergence by raising inflation about 3 percentage points by the end of 2021.” There is no doubt that the large spending package contributed to inflation, but it was not the sole cause. It did, however, give the people a taste of the beginnings of socialism and free government handouts, and that may be the most detrimintal result of the package.

UN Tries to Blame Food Crisis on Putin

Armstrong Economics Blog/Geopolitical Re-Posted Jun 10, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

Honestly, these lies and propaganda coming from the United States and Europe is just a slap in the face and it demonstrates that they look upon us as the BRAIN-DEAD Great Unwashed. Too stupid to understand even how to live without their orders. The Biden Administration and the EU are desperate to blame everything on Putin from inflation to food shortages. Charles Michel, president of the European Council is an absolute disgrace and if politicians could be charged with perjury for lying to the people, he would be in prison for the rest of his life.

The food shortages and the rise in civil unrest along with authoritarianism was put out by our model in 1985 as was the forecast back then that 2016 would be the first time a third-party president could win. That was forecast decades before we even knew who it was. It was the economics that put Trump in office. I spoke to politicians after the election. They called it a fluke because they did not want to admit it was a vote against them – not for Trump as a person.

We also put out the forecast that BREXIT would win. Nigel Farage came as our guest speaker to our 2019 WEC in Rome and it not only called our events the “alternative to Davos” but that he had to come for we were the only ones forecasting BREXIT would win. All of these forecasts are economic-based. They are NOT my personal opinion. Historically, people vote based on their economics. Herbert Hoover was elected in 1928 and was in office only 8.6 months before the Great Depression began. It really had nothing to do with his policies. Nevertheless, the people named their shanty towns – Hooverville.

The sheer audacity of the bald-faced lies of Charles Michel blaming “Russia alone” for the food crisis which was set in motion by the COVID lockdowns well before the Ukrainian war is simply beyond belief that he assumed we are that stupid. was responsible for the food crisis. I cannot tell you how many emails I got from farmers who had to kill even 30,000 chickens, and bury their crops, all because of the COVID lockdowns that prevented truckers from delivering food. Remember the trucker protest in Canada? Even crude oil production in the West, aside from Ukrain, is still below pre-COVID levels because there is also this Climate Change Agenda underway which will rise energy and food prices without Ukraine. Even in Australia, they now proclaim that the Greens have the MANDATE to stop new oil and gas projects. But this is all Putin’s fault – not Western politicians be they red, blue, or green. Germany’s Green Policy has been a total failure.

Charles Michel claimed actually said: “Mr. Ambassador of the Russian Federation, let’s be honest, the Kremlin is using food supplies as a stealth missile against developing countries.” The US has clearly coordinated this line of nonsense for we see the same thing coming out on the US side. The US and the EU have coordinated to blame all their inflation problems on Putin, Russia, and the Ukrainian War which they could solve in one day as Henry Kissinger said – hone the Minsk Agreement and the people of the Donbas vote if this is about democracy v authoritarianism which is another BS ploy.

Let’s stop the propaganda. A French journalist who returned from Ukraine after arriving with volunteer fighters told broadcaster CNews that Americans are directly “in charge” of the war on the ground. The assertion was made by Le Figaro senior international correspondent Georges Malbrunot. Malbrunot said he had accompanied French volunteer fighters, two of whom had previously fought against ISIS. “I had the surprise, and so did they, to discover that to be able to enter the Ukrainian army, well it’s the Americans who are in charge,” said Malbrunot. Everyone knows this is really a war of the USA v Russia and the American neocons will fight to the death of every last Ukrainian. As long as they do not send American Troops, then it is not an act of War that only Congress can authorize – not Biden.

The Russian UN Ambassador walked out of a Security Council meeting after the European Council President accused Russia of engineering a food crisis with its war on Ukraine. Quite honestly, all the propaganda coming from Europe and the United States is so obviously intent upon causing international war. They better pray that Putin survives, for the second tier of potential leaders will play real hardball. There are those who call the bluff of the EU and the US and use a tactical nuke and take out Kiev (Russian spelling). They say: “OK! Who is next?” Three nukes would take out the entire East Coast of the USA and it would take just three to wipe out Europe. One would be sufficient to take out Britain. Perhaps you will recall that one nuclear Russian sub has 60 ready to go. Just what the hell are these people doing?

Michel also said that “The dramatic consequences of Russia’s war are spilling over across the globe This is driving up food prices, pushing people into poverty, and destabilizing entire regions,”  If you are already blaming Russia for something it has not done, then they might as well do it. Cut off all grain sales to any unfriendly nation and turn off the gas for Europe and watch the civil unrest drag people like Charles Michel to the streets from his comfortable seat. Boris Johnson may have survived a No-Confidence Vote, which was a disgrace to start with, but the sheer fact that a No-Confidence Vote was brought shows the rising discontent which will burst through into civil unrest by 2023.

I have ALL the declassified documents with phone calls and notes concerning Putin, how he came to power, and how everything they say about Putin publicly today is opposite of all the declassified documents. The level of propaganda today is just off the charts. This is all a VIOLATION of international law. The UN Commission on Human Rights and internationally recognized international law expert Alfred de Zayas, who is actually absolutely correct, has said publicly that the USA should be brought before the International Court of Justice because of its sanctions policy which is illegal and has caused this entire crisis of inflation.
