Strong Jobs Report Does Not Mean Strong Economy

Jobs

One thing that analysts fail to explain is that Americans have begun working multiple jobs since the COVID pandemic that wrecked the global economy. Nonfarm payrolls increased 303,000 in March, but there are millions of Americans holding multiple jobs who can still not keep up with the cost of living even with wages up 4.1% in the past year.

Around 5.3% of the US workforce held more than one job, on the books, in 2019 but that slowed during the pandemic when businesses were unable to open. In September 2022, 4.9% of American workers (7.7 million people) held more than one job (on the books) as the economy began to slowly recover but that trend did not stay in motion due to rampant inflation and the cost of living. By October 20235.2% of the US workforce (8.4 million people)  held more than one job.

Now Hiring

Women are more likely than men to work multiple jobs. And we wonder why there is a birth rate crisis. Around 6% of US women in the workforce had two or more jobs by October 2023 compared to 4.7% of men.

Now these are simply the figures for those working on the books. The Biden Administration killed the gig economy when Americans relied on it the most by imposing numerous regulations that forced companies to classify contractors as employees. Then we have states carelessly raising the minimum wage, eliminating the number of available jobs, and raising costs for businesses overall.

Only 62.7% of abled Americans are participating in the workforce. This does not include the 7.4+ illegal migrants who cannot obtain working permits but rely on government aid. Then they “revise” the jobs report every month, with January’s overwhelming report of 353,000 new jobs now down by 27,000, and February’s posting shedding 5,000. Then if you read between the lines, the number of part-time workers, who do not have benefits, rose by 691,000 while the number of full-time workers decreased by 6,000. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics admitted that the number of Americans holding multiple jobs increased by 217,000 or 5.2%, but this is drastically understated as many people work under the table or in odd jobs.

The jobs report is by no means an indication of a strong economy.

Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot Program for Transexuals

LGBTQ

San Francisco is launching a guaranteed basic income pilot program for transexuals. These individuals are capable of working, but the woke government believes that others should provide them with free money for simply existing. San Francisco’s Guaranteed Income for Trans People (GIFT) program will provide 55 individuals a monthly payment of $1,200 for simply being transexual. Conservative legal group Judicial Watch is filing a lawsuit to stop this obscene program.

An anonymous representative from San Francisco’s Transgender District, yes, a legally recognized district for transsexuals, said that trans people face discrimination and giving them no-string attached cash will “have a little bit more ease with their finances.” They fail to see the obvious issues here that need no explanation. This initiative will create a further divide as all Americans could use a bit of extra assistance and likely do not want their taxes sent to someone based on their sexual identity or lack thereof.

Easter is Transgender Day

Judicial Watch is suing Mayor Longdon Breed for violating the equal protection clause in California’s Constitution. This asinine law also violated the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, which provides “equal protection” to all persons born or naturalized in the United States.

I have spoken on the economic insinuations of Guaranteed Basic Income programs that always fail. Our welfare system has seriously altered human behavior as it pays people not to work. Worse, it incentivizes those who cannot afford children to have more children. California has more debt than any other state in the US and simply cannot afford this program, but these blindsided lawmakers are desperate for votes. Lawmakers are attempting to implement these pilot programs throughout the country, and some are specifically targeting minority groups, which is utterly unconstitutional.

Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum said basic income is “basically plausible” and believes it is necessary for the Great Reset. He denies that it would incentivize people not to work:

“I deny that people would then put their hands in their lap and sit lazily at home. A nurse in Germany with 2000 euros gross pay might today feel worn out. If, however, she were to receive a basic income, she might see it as recognition, and she would have a different basic attitude towards her work. In the future, if jobs are swept away due to digitalization, we need, on the other hand, a humanization of society. Industrial jobs will be gone, but there will be more social work to be done, like medical and health care.”

In 2017, Schwab said that the need for Guaranteed Basic Income would present itself and become a topic of discussion. Interestingly, that is precisely when our war model is turning up.

All those migrants fled from socialism for a reason. It should be illegal for lawmakers to make these socialistic promises that pander to their voting base and all but ensure blue votes. Society simply cannot function without everyone making meaningful contributions. Innovation ceases under socialism and communism, and society becomes locked in the past. Look at Cuba, for example, where they are stuck in a relic of the 1980s. Then “money” loses its value when it is handed out freely, and instead of everyone being equal, everyone simply has nothing while the government has everything.

Free money becomes like a drug and the people become hooked on receiving that monthly direct deposit. But, as with all drug, they will become dependent and will need more and more as the cost of living increases. This will only incentivize people not to work and vote for politicians who promise handouts at the expense of responsible taxpayers.

ADUs Destroying Community

Posted Apr 5, 2024 by Martin Armstrong

ADU.Sheds_

Comment: Thank you Martin Armstrong to take time to write on 15 min cities and accessory dwelling units or the ADUs. I must reach out and ask you to share my personal story on how ADU is destroying my once charming neighborhood. I believe everyone should have access to shelter, and I do not want these people on the streets. My heart goes out to those without and I felt bad for their situations until I witnessed what permitting legal squatting brought. Permitting people to live in huts in the backyard is not the solution as I have seen firsthand over the last year or so.

A few of my neighbors built ADUs units behind their homes. They built them themselves and they look like tiny wooden sheds and are eyesores. How anyone can manage to live there is beyond me, as they have less space than most garages. All the renters are single men without consistent employment who probably would not qualify for an apartment since they do not seem to be going to work but lurk around the neighborhood instead. Strange men are scattered around my neighborhood and their friends are not the type of people I would want in my town. One man died inside his unit from drugs. My neighbor replaced him with a new renter within the month, another single man who lurks around. I have a teenage daughter and two little ones. I was never worried about their safety in this neighborhood, but there is now riff-raff in this neighborhood and I do not feel safe. My husband will not let them play outside alone. The people who believe these shelters are a solution are mistaken.

Reply: Your concerns seem valid. Depending on the zoning laws in your area, anyone can build and rent out an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). There are no requirements for the tenants or background checks. The shelters themselves need only be 375 sq ft and may not exceed 40% of the primary property’s floor area or 1,000 sq ft.

Proponents of these shelters say they are a great way to assist family members, but that is not the intention. I personally would not allow my family members to live in a shed outside my primary residence. The fact of the matter is that these units largely do not look or function as “in-law suites.” People are becoming desperate for additional income in this economy, and renting out a sliver of their land is now an option. Primary homeowners are also now qualifying for loans to build these structures, and contractors specializing in ADUs are becoming commonplace. In Florida, for example, many cities require ADUs to be rented out by low-income individuals. Again, they do not need to pass a background check or register with any agency. You must ask yourself who would want to live in these conditions.

So you are correct in your fears that anyone could be living in those units. Your neighbors cannot easily evict a tenant once they move in as they are now protected by tenant rights. These men could have used a fake name or identification (neither are requirements) and your own neighbor may not know who is living on their property. They do not need to be citizens of the United States either.

It is up to individual counties and cities to prohibit these ADUs, which are simply a step above homelessness. They will lower the neighborhood’s value as no one wants this sort of thing in their community. I am sorry you have to deal with this situation that is spreading across the Build Back Better countries.
