The Rising Movement Against Soros

In Hungary, NGOs (non-governmental organizations) will have to be registered in court and their foreign donors will be disclosed. The Hungarian Parliament adopted what many are calling the most controversial laws of recent years. Prime Minister Viktor Orban, advocated the so-called NGO Law that obligates non-governmental organizations with more than 24,000 euros per year from outside the country to declare their most important foreign donors annually and to declare themselves as “an organization benefiting from foreign financing”. If they do not comply with this obligation, they will be closed in Hungary. The so called blueprint for the law comes from Russia, where foreign-funded institutions are branded as “enemy agents”. NGOs in Hungary have to register themselves from now on, and on their website they will be able to use the term “foreign-funded organization”.

There are a lot of people up in arms over this. But there is a serious problem of organization such as that of George Soros trying to fund revolutions and government subversion movements. There have been foreign fundings of civil unrest in the United States against Trump. Obama funded activists in Canada to overthrow the conservatives. Clinton help Tony Blair and the Labour Party beat John Major, and we certainly cannot forget all the screaming about Russian interference in the 2016 election that defeated Hillary.

Macedonia 3-26-2017

The EU Commission and the United Nations have both strongly criticized the bill. They actually say it is designed against Orban’s intimate enemies, namely the Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros. The foundations of Soros claim to support numerous human rights organizations and environmental protection groups in Hungary, but it also funds anti-government movements. Orban had just said recently that Soros “and his agencies” were an opaque component in the public life of Hungary. It was Soros supporting more refugees moving into Hungary.

The EU had complained that the “NGO Transparency Act” was far beyond the goal of securing financial transparency. This would also limit the legitimate political activities of groups that are exposed to a constant, hostile campaign by the Orban government. The government made some concessions to Brussels whereas donations under €1700 would no longer need to be reported separately. The rule is that all “groups financed abroad” will not be eligible for state funding in Hungary.

We are seeing these laws in other places as well. Trump has banned American politicians from lobbying for foreign government for up to five years after leaving office. Human rights groups and activists in Egypt are accusing the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for effecting a law that regulates the work of non-governmental organizations. Clearly, there is a huge difference between helping people and creating political unrest. The Egyptian measure restricts NGO activity to developmental and social work and introduces jail terms of up to five years for non-compliance. The law also gives the government power over deciding who can establish an NGO and for what purpose. Similar laws were installed in Russia as well.

After all the yelling by the Democrats in the USA that Putin interfered in the US election, NGOs are clearly something that is a grey area, which has been exploited for political purposes using the cover of humanity.

The Right to Vote Should Attach to Only Those Who Pay Taxes

There is a rising tied that many people are not paying attention to. That is the rising unrest among the youth. The problem with allowing the youth to vote on economic issues is simply they want to rob others so they have their free world. In Britain, they have been fighting to bring the age to vote down to 16. How can someone make any intelligent decision concerning the fate of the nation before they even have a job and pay taxes?

When it comes to war and if they are to fight such a war, then absolutely, they should have a right to vote. But when it comes to economic policies, you should not be allowed to vote unless you pay taxes. If you do not have a job, it is always easy to demand socialism to go rob someone else who has what you want. If you walked down a street and you are grabbed and told you cannot leave until you hand over money, isn’t that a crime? Yet somehow we elect politicians who will do that exact thing under threat of imprisonment if you do not hand over whatever they demand.

Hoe can a man write a book and explain how it feels to go through childbirth? It’s impossible! The same applies to voting. If you want to vote on anything that involves economics, you should have a stake in the process by paying taxes. Otherwise, go to your party with friends and complain about the world until you are old enough to know what the world really is.

Allowing everyone who has no stake in the game vote against others who do, it not Social Justice – it is servitude. Sorry, it is not no vote no hope, it is no vote if not responsible.

British Election Backfires on May – Exit Polls Show Hung Parliament

It’s looking like a Hung Parliament and the polls got it wrong again in Britain. The Conservatives appear to be 12 seats short of the 326 to rule with a majority vote. Theresa May is facing a serious backlash over her shocking election campaign gamble after an exit poll suggested that her snap election roll of the dice has completely failed to pay off. Where before the BREXIT vote was purely conservative, Corbyn had to brace that but then he turned to the youth and gold massive turnout in some areas 75%. London itself is filled with a lot of students. Corbyn appealed to them promising healthcare and tuition promises and thus was tapping into a reservoir of people who would not normally vote.

This election illustrated the entire problem we have been warning about. We are facing a generational battled. Ironically, the youth do not quite realize that voting labour was a vote for the very neo-Marxist policies that have created the crisis we have in pensions going forward. It has been this type of promising manna from heaven with promises to make the rich pay for it is exactly the same policies of Hollande in France, which proved so disastrous. Yet the old saying; Ah to be young again, but know what I know now comes to mind. What the youth have done looks very well like fulfilling what our computer has been projecting – the fall of the British pound long-term.

The problem with this Corbyn Hung Parliament is the fact that his own party pretty much wrote Corbyn off and wanted him to resign after the last election. Since this time he made it really a personal battle, he is unlikely to back-down and will be pushing a Marxist agenda. Ah, how the wheel of fortune revolves. This Corbyn Hung Parliament now casts a huge doubt over the negotiations for BREXIT. We ran our model fearing that this could be the outcome or if Corbyn would actually win pulling off a surprise victory for Labour. It came back and said SELL Sterling! It is very curious how markets never lie and they show you the trend if you listen to them rather that try to fit their movement to a predetermined outcome. While our computer did show the Conservatives would win, something was wrong since the outlook for the pound was bearish – not bullish.

Socrates Pro Version wrote in the pound concerning the Long-Term:

“Diagnostically, my wide-ranging projection recognizes that the major low in British Pound Spot took place back in 1985 completing a 52 year decline, but we have seen lower highs with each thrust upward leaving the major high intact as of 1959. We have not elected any Yearly Bullish Reversal from the major low of 1985 warning that we remain in a bearish long-term trend. Only an annual closing above 24280 would signal a change in long-term trend. There has been a post low rally after 1985 moving upward into a key high during 2007. Nonetheless, the market has undergone a reaction back to the downside for the past 9 years. This has warned that the overall trend of this market remains bearish since it has been unable to make higher highs. There remains a long-term risk of a decline extending into 2017 or as far out as 2020 in real terms adjusted for inflation. Unquestionably, there remains a risk that we could see a complete monetary reform as early as 2018 going into 2020 or the latest 2032 insofar as a change in the currency base system. This is likely to follow a Sovereign Debt Crisis which should begin to erupt by 2018.”

Our model has been showing that the major resistance stood in the 134 zone both on the Monthly and Weekly levels of our model. Just to achieve a positive signal, we required a monthly closing ABOVE 12954. Socrates has been writing: “Critical resistance still stands in this market at 12954 and a break above that level on a monthly closing basis would warn of a continued advance becomes possible.”April closed precisely one tick beneath at 12953. This was perhaps the first hint that there would be trouble ahead. May exceeded the April high intraday, but it also fell back to close at 12889. How Sterling has dropped sharply to the 127 level on the news of a Hung Parliament. How it now closes today will be the market speaking loudly so listen.

Since the computer has been warning that Sterling can fall back to the 1985 low at $1.03, it was hard to reconcile this with the polls calling for a major landslide for the Conservatives. This is Corbyn’s chance for the big time and you can expect he is going to really muddy the waters because he really believes in Marx. The distinction between Brexiteer and Remainer stands a real chance now of fading away. Battles would still rage on, however, yet the terms and methods of restoring British independence will be completely thrown into the air. Eurocrats  in Brussels now face the prospect of an entirely different negotiating team in the event of a cobbled together coalition, which would also need time to thrash out its own Brexit strategy.

Our own interaction with British institutions and corporates has been interesting. Many who were against BREXIT and saw that as the end of the world, flipped their position and said hey – they is pretty good. After accepting BREXIT, now the terms are up in the air thanks to May misreading the discontent rising among the youth. We have also warned that revolutions come from the youth, not from the old establishment who have too much to lose rocking the boat.

Corbyn is a full blown neo-Marxist who would love to convert Britain to a modern version of Communism. Instead of guaranteed minimum wages, he wants maximum wage limits. He has been preaching the same old solution – just rob the rich, which Hillary was preaching while stuffing her own pockets. The problem is the big numbers he hears that CEOs make is stock options typically more so than salary. Nevertheless, in his mind if everyone is reduced to the same wage, somehow that will solve everything. Nobody should earn more than he thinks is appropriate. His policies would be the final straw that ends Britain as any type of financial capital whatsoever. The talent will be on the first plane to New York or Hong Kong. With Corbyn in Britain and the EU insanity on the Continent who wants to outlaw short-selling, the pound will not survive even to be a hedge against the Euro.

The real question is somehow the market is always correct and forecasts the future with extreme precision. The pound could never elect a single Weekly Bullish Reversal which all stand above 13400. Yet the first Weekly Bearish Reversal is 12772 on the cash. If that is elected tomorrow, then the markets are warning that this is going to be a very hard road for Britain. The absolute critical technical support for this week’s closing lies at 12748.

We can see from both the arrays on the pound against the dollar and euro, that the computer projected a turning point for this week. It also generally warns of higher volatility next week. So pay attention to the Weekly Bearish Reversal at 12772.

Britain & the Thursday Election

“The British response to terrorism has to change,” said Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday in a speech after the new attacks in London. She said: “There is, to be honest, far too much tolerance of extremism in our society.” PM May made her announcement at 10 Downing Street making it clear: “When it comes to overcoming extremism and terrorism, things have to change.” She announced potential changes to anti-terrorism laws. She further made it clear: “We can not give this ideology the safe space it needs to breed – but that’s exactly what the internet and the big companies that provide internet-based services provide. We must work with Allied democratic governments to reach international agreements to regulate the cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremism and terrorism planning.”

May could very well achieve a 64 seat majority. We asked our computer to do a What-If  forecast if Corbyn won the election for Labour. This would probably be the best short in a very long time.

Tiananmen – 28 Years Ago Today…

It was 28 years ago tonight when the Chinese government sent the Mongolian Army into Tiananmen Square to crackdown on the mostly student protestors.

It is against the law in China to recognize today, memorialize the dead, or even speak publicly of this bloody anniversary.   Few people know the short and long-term political ramifications to this event which extended far beyond the borders of China.

Many people are familiar with this image:

However, not as many people are as familiar with the wide shot.

That’s some serious courage right there.

The June 4th 1989 anniversary holds a great deal of personal significance for those who witnessed the events.

Few people even know how most of the regular Chinese military refused orders to open fire on the protesting crowd.   Hundreds of young Chinese military soldiers actually formed lines around the mostly student activists in an effort to protect them.  The Chinese government eventually bypassed the regulars and instructed the Mongolian military divisions who carried out the orders.

No-one really knows how many were killed, and even the families of the fallen were too scared to speak publicly.

Those who were lost live-on in whispered memories of lore.

So many.

So young.

We remember.

Corruption was Crazy during 19th Century

QUESTION: Marty, is this perhaps the most corrupt period in political history? I find Hillary’s comments outright offensive that she counts on the press to make the people as stupid as possible. Is this the worst of the worst?

Thanks

RG

ANSWER: Hillary is really detestable. But politics was exceptionally corrupt after the Civil War because there was no real effective opposition. The political scandals were just one after the other.

The scandals were so numerous that Puck Magazine ran this cartoon picturing the Grant Administration as just a circus.

The Whiskey Ring was diverting tax money on whiskey to private accounts shared by government officials. Can you imaging you owe $100,000 in taxes and the IRS Agent says here, wire the money to my account and we will call it just $50,000.

There were too many scandals all involving corruption that was off the charts. It was literally one scandal after another. Mark Twain’s book, The Gilded Age, was  a satire of greed and political corruption in post-Civil War era in America history.

I have given up any hope on career politicians. They cannot possibly represent the people for their votes are always for sale. Republics never last because they have always turned into Oligarchies. Hillary is filthy rich, yet she has worked only for government. Nobody asks how!

Sweden Begins Drafting for its Military

The Swedish government has declared that they will begin drafting those born in 1999 for military service. This reintroduction of military conscription is being blamed on Russia’s invasion of Eastern Ukraine. In fact, it also has a lot to do with the Refugee Crisis. The draft will being as of January 1st, 2018. Sweden had military conscription until 2010, but previously only men were drafted. I know of a number of young women in the United States who were against Hillary because she demanded equal rights for women and thus she supported drafting women into the military.

Most of the 28 EU member states have abolished military conscription and that included France and Britain. Germany suspended conscription in 2011, but interestingly enough, Greece has mandatory military service for all of the age of 19 who must serve for 9 months.

New Idea for Political Reform

The Belgian Historian and author David Van Reybrouck in his book latest book, “Counter-elections”, has made a very interesting suggestion. He too has concluded that career politicians are just hopeless. It is so nice to see I am not alone. Van Reybrouck has proposed that politicians to really cannot represent the people and perhaps the solution is to draft people to be in politics by lottery. This is an interesting proposition. I would ad that anyone who takes up a position should be at the END of their career, not at the beginning or middle. In this way they bring the wisdom of experience with them and to be the Secretary of the Treasury that had to be an international fund manager rather than a domestic banker. The Secretary of War should be only someone who military service. In other words, you have to be qualified for the job.

Our greatest problem is are just lawyers from Obama and Clinton to Nixon and Kennedy. Even Franklin Roosevelt went to Columbia University Law School. He was never a good student with just average grades. He dropped out after two years. Being a lawyer does not qualify you to fill every position in government. Van Reybrouck’s idea of a lottery is very interesting. If we merge that with one-time-in-and-out, all money to run is provided by government and ABSOLUTELY no private donations along with having to have worked in that field, they we just might have a blueprint for after the Crash and Burn.

Is it Time to Hold Journalists in Contempt of Court for National Security Reasons?

On Tuesday U.S. officials, under the guise of anonymity, leaked the name of the suicide bomber responsible for the attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester before the British police had officially named him causing greater skepticism for allies sharing intelligence with the United States. There is something seriously wrong in the intelligence community and it borders on TREASON.

American journalists published the name before the British journalists. The British police had not confirmed the identity of the attacker, Salman Abedi. Since it was an ongoing investigation, the British government had indicated it may not release the name at all and then the American press reported the name.

The case of Judith Miller, the New York Times journalist at the time, became embroiled in controversy after her coverage of Iraq’s Weapons of Mass Destruction program both before and after the 2003 invasion. The New York Times later determined Miller’s stories published in the paper were inaccurate. She acknowledged in The Wall Street Journal on April 4, 2015 that some of her Times coverage was inaccurate, although she had relied on sources she had used numerous times in the past, and had won a Pulitzer Prize. Miller further stated that policymakers and intelligence analysts had relied on the same sources claiming that Iraq had huge stockpiles of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Some argue that it was her stories in the New York Times that supported the entire invasion of Iraq.

All of this aside, Miller was also involved in the Plame Affair where her status of a member of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) became widely known compromising her position. When Miller was asked to name her sources, she invoked reporter’s privilege, which does not exist in any absolute manner, and refused to reveal her sources in the CIA leak. The Supreme Court made it clear that testimonial privileges “are not lightly created nor expansively construed, for they are in derogation of the search for truth.” United States v. Nixon, 418 U.S. 683, 710 (1974). She was held in contempt of court and spent 85 days in jail protecting her source, which turned out to be Scooter Libby who was the leak source. Miller later was forced to resign from her job at the New York Times in November 2005.

Libby went to trial and was convicted of one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and one count of making false statements. Between 2003 and 2005 Libby had “leaked” classified employment information about Valerie Plame to New York Times reporter Judith Miller and others. He then lied and tried to cover-up his leaks.

In the Grand Jury, Libby testified that he met with Judith Miller, a reporter with the New York Times, on July 8, 2003, and discussed Plame with her. He had signed a “blanket waiver” allowing journalists to discuss their conversations. Miller maintained that such a waiver did not serve to allow her to reveal her source to that grand jury. After refusing to testify about her July 2003 meeting with Libby, Miller was sent to prison on contempt of court on July 7, 2005. Her lawyer, Robert Bennett, told her that she already had possessed a written waiver from Libby all along and there was no privilege. Miller then agreed to testify and was released on September 29th, 2005. She then appeared before the grand jury. Miller produced a notebook from a previously undisclosed meeting with Libby on June 23, 2003. Libby was convicted of obstruction of justice and two counts of perjury in his grand jury testimony and one count of making false statements to federal investigators about when and how he learned that Plame was a CIA agent.

It seems that contempt sanction are now warranted as a matter of national security to get at those within the government as to who is leaking information about private conversations between world leaders all the way down to leaking names of terrorists to obstruct investigations. That is what the contempt power was really supposed to be – the refusal to comply when you can compl

Catalonia to Separate from Spain?

QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong, when you were here in Barcelona, you said that Catalonia would vote to separate from Spain. Most thought you would be wrong. I myself confess I was not sure you would be right. Well you were right, or your amazing computer was correct, and the fever to separate only grows bolder. Do you still see this and the ultimate end of the EU?

ANSWER: Yes, but this is a process that is slow. The speed will being to pick up next year and it appears to be increasing in velocity between 2018 and 2022. El Pais ran a story: “Catalonia to immediately declare independence if no referendum held” with the leaked excerpts from what appears to be the Catalonian regional government’s road map to independence. The secret document included a plan where the region would unilaterally break away from Spain if Madrid tried to prevent its citizens from holding a referendum on independence in the fall. The proposed question is straight forward:

“Do you want Catalonia to be a state that is independent from Spain?”

I reported back in 2015 that Barcelona was preparing to issue its own electronic currency. Since then, the city is still moving forward with a plan to introduce its own currency, despite warnings from Spain’s central bank. The new so-called “social currency” would be used to buy local goods and services at a discount while having a one to one parity with the euro. This is plan B in order to set up for separation. Catalonia is the richest region in Spain and is supporting the rest of the country. So it is very much like Margaret Thatcher once warned, that Socialism works until you run out of other people’s money. That is exactly what is taking place in Spain. They have been bleeding Catalonia dry.

The real question is what will Spain do? Spain is the Eurozone’s fourth largest economy. It is distinctly on the verge of breaking up. Spain and the EU seem intent upon not letting that happen. If there is any attempt by force from Madrid under the pretense of a police action, then the gloves will come off.

Madrid will take drastic actions, including that will most likely first attempt to invoke article 155 of the constitution, which will effectively put an end to all forms of Catalan self governance. Will the people tolerate that? This will not merely strengthen the resolve of Catalan separatists, it could very well lead to a civil war erupting between 2018 into 2020, but the latest we should see the separation is by 2022.

The previous Spanish Civil War took place between 1936 and 1939 lasting about 3 years. It broke out when the Spanish army in Morocco led by General Francisco Franco, rose up against the democratically elected Republican government, presided over by Manuel Azaña. Typically, there will be a divergence and split within the military. That is how these things erupt. We may see this in the USA also around 2022, which may be a contagion at that time. The potential for the collapse of the EU looms on the horizon for 2022.
