Canada’s Chrystia Freeland “Very Keen” on Re-entering NAFTA Negotiations She Is Not Invited To…

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and a delegation of out-going and in-coming Mexican trade officials have been conducting intensive NAFTA negotiation talks for the past several weeks.  The out-going Mexican officials, led by Ildefonso Guajardo, are optimistic terms of agreement can be reached with the U.S; the incoming Mexican officials led by AMLO’s Jesus Seade, not so much.

The key issue is still the NAFTA fatal flaw that allows both Canada and Mexico to exploit their access to the U.S. market as brokers for imported Asian parts, assembled in Mexico/Canada, and the finished goods shipped into the U.S.  That structural issue remains unresolved; hence the impasse.

Meanwhile, Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland wants to reenter the trade discussion after being shut out since the beginning of May.

(Reuters) – Canada is “very keen” on concluding negotiations to renew the North American Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible, Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Saturday, amid signs of progress after months of delays.

Talks to modernize the 1994 trade pact started in August 2017 but have dragged on much longer than expected as Canada and Mexico pushed back against far-reaching U.S. demands for reform. President Donald Trump has said he will walk away from NAFTA unless major changes are made.

In a renewed push, Mexican and U.S. cabinet ministers held a series of meetings in Washington over the past week in a bid to work out their differences. One Mexican official expressed optimism that some kind of agreement could be reached by the end of the month.

“I and Canada are very, very keen to get it done as quickly as possible,” Freeland told reporters on a conference call. She did not answer directly when asked whether the end of August was a realistic deadline.

Mexican and U.S. officials are due to meet again next week to work on contentious issues such as wages and rules governing how much North American produced content an automobile must contain to qualify for duty-free status.

Freeland said she was ready to join the talks at any time but did not give details. Canadian officials dismiss speculation that she is being sidelined.  (read more)

Ever since the end of Round #6 (January 2018) USTR Robert Lighthizer has not cared for the Canadian team, and who can blame him.  Princess Rainbow Sparkles Chrystia Freeland has demanded the addition of trans-gender native equity rights, climate issues and the ability to exploit access to the U.S. markets in all Canadian bi-lateral trade constructs.

Previously Lighthizer responded:

“Free trade agreements are essentially grants of preferential treatment to other countries in exchange for an approximately equal grant of preferential treatment in their economy. Thus, it is reasonable from time to time to assess whether the bargain has turned out to be equitable.”

[…] “I would like to comment on two proposals by the Canadians, one of which has been in the press quite a bit, and that is a presumed compromise on rules of origin.

We find that the automobile rules of origin idea that was presented, when analyzed, may actually lead to less regional content than we have now and fewer jobs in the United States, Canada, and likely Mexico. So this is the opposite of what we are trying to do.

In another proposal, Canada reserved the right to treat the United States and Mexico even worse than other countries if they enter into future agreements. Those other countries may, in fact, even include China, if there is an agreement between China and [Canada].

This proposal, I think if the United States had made it, would be dubbed a “poison pill.” We did not make it, though. Obviously, this is unacceptable to us, and my guess is it is to the Mexican side also.

Finally, I would like to refer, because I think it fits into this context to an unprecedented trade action that Canada brought against the United States very recently. It constitutes a massive attack on all of our trade laws. If it were successful, it would lead to more Chinese imports into the United States and likely fewer Canadian goods being sold in our market.

Now we understand that countries often challenge specific actions taken by another country in the context of trade laws. This is normal and what we expect. But this litigation essentially claims that 24 years ago, the United States effectively gave away its entire trade regime in the Uruguay Round. Of course, we view this case as frivolous, but it does make one wonder if all parties are truly committed to mutually beneficial trade. It also underscores why so many of us are concerned about binding dispute arbitration. What sovereign nation would trust to arbitrators or the flip of a coin their entire defense against unfair trade?  (more from the end of round #6)

Sunday Talks: Joe Lieberman Discusses The Return of the Iran Sanctions Effective Tomorrow…

When President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the intensely short-sighted JCPOA (Iran deal), there was a period of preparation for our allies and partners prior to the re-institution of the first round of U.S. sanctions against Iran.   The transition period ends tomorrow as the sanctions begin August 6th, 2018.

Europe and NATO allies are under pressure to discontinue any trade action/terms with Iran as the U.S. sanctions will also apply toward any nation that engages in economic transactions with the Iranian regime.

Representative Peter King (NY) discusses the agenda of the Trump administration and the mid-term elections with Maria Bartiromo.

Ms. Bartiromo notes how the accomplishments of the President are only highlighted when President Trump draws attention to them. The positive news is considerable and the economic policy success is off-the-charts, but the MSM focus on narrative engineering.

42,000-year-old worms revived from Siberian permafrost

Well, it looks like you can’t just freeze politicians and end their reign of terror. It turns out, they might still be thawed out 42,000 years later beginning again. The latest biology news was reported in Germany in grenzwissenschaft-aktuell.de. A 42,000-year-old soil sample from Siberian permafrost contained nematodes. It was thawed and the soil contained worms which were brought back to life. This amazing event set the biology record for the period of time over which higher organisms can survive in cryogenic sleep. They reported that the worms began to move within a few weeks at 20 degrees Celsius in the Moscow laboratories and began to eat food.

There are two species of worm that have been discovered. Panagrolaimus nematodes have been revived which date back 32,000 years and were located at about 3.0 meters down. The Plectus worms were discovered at an age of 42,000 years only 3.5 meters deep. Therefore, those who thought Global Cooling might freeze politicians suddenly as took place in Siberia had better reconsider their dreams. They just might wake up on the next cycle and begin the chaos all over again

Is the Climate Change Preparation for the Pole Shift?

A reader sent this is where ice storms are happening daily this summer in Calgary, Canada. In Bavaria, where I am currently, it is the hottest in 200 years. The temperature is in the 90s (32c) and hotels, restaurants do not have air conditioning because it never gets hot here. Then in Ukraine, which it is typically in the 90s for the summer, they are experiencing the coldest summer with temperatures in the 70s.

In Greenland, birds migrate there for the summer to create offspring. This year, summer never came. Indeed, crops are failing around the world from either too much heat or too much cold. It appears that where it is normally hot, the climate is becoming cold. Where it is cold, it is becoming hot.

Many scientists are starting to wonder what is going on. It certainly is not Global Warming since that theory implies consistency. Some are wondering if this is a prelude to the climate is shifting thanks to a possible pole shift. The problem, nobody knows what this means. The last time the poles flipped was 720,000 years ago. We have no model to clearly define the end result. Will we suddenly be frozen with a spoon in our mouth at breakfast? Perhaps we are entering more than just a major Sixth Wave in the ECM. Maybe the weather is also conspiring to shift the financial capital from the West to the East.

Still, the other school of thought is pointing to volcano’s. It’s abundantly clear that there is also such a thing as volcanic weather, which historically can be highly dangerous. These astonishing changes historically also remind us that volcanic events have long affected weather systems and have even transformed the Earth’s climate dramatically. They have changed weather also by prolonged gaseous effusions. In recent times they’ve occasionally canceled out summers or triggered droughts. The major eruption of Tambora created the year without a summer where it snowed in New York City in July. Volcano-ism has disrupted the atmosphere altering our climate. For brief moments, the realization that lava flows can drive machinations in the sky makes such meteorological manifestations seem very close to magic. Heat rises and lava is about as hot as it gets. Many fear that the increase in volcanic activity is disrupting the climate that needs to be studied closely but is being ignored because you cannot tax nature.

Beware of Social Justice

Dear Friends:

An interesting matter has arisen in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, but be assured that this idea could well surface in your hometown. (ADDED by Centinel2012: This could happen any where in this country and is totally against the US Constitution so you are now warned.)

Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive, has suggested that there be a Human Rights Council in Cuyahoga County for a specialty group, specifically, and at this time, for the LGBTQ community (as though the Human Rights Council of the United Nations is so ethical and trustworthy).  Budish seeks a form of justice, but not the justice referenced in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag, but a form of “social justice.”  However, the moment we divide Americans into groups and treat one group differently from the others, it is no longer true justice.  Rather, it is meant as boost or benefit for one select group at the expense of another.

The commission would conduct investigations on gender issues and enforce and issue subpoenas as a quasi-judicial appointed attorney.  No one so titled should be able to levy monetary penalties, especially for undecided social, moral issues.

Under the proposed law, the plaintiff (one who sues) would be financially supported by the commission, which opens up the proverbial can of worms because he/she has no “skin in the game.”  Unless the plaintiff bears the risk or consequences for his/her actions, the suit could be frivolous or malicious, and the victim harmed, whether reputationally or financially.

Above all, this type of lawsuit is a kind of censorship system.  In our country, under our laws, the Bill of Rights guarantees the Freedom of Speech, but a legal threat creates an atmosphere of fear of consequence. This is not unlike the accusations of Islamophobia, when one might want to say something that is perfectly within his/her right but fears a penalty that could do him great harm.  This is unjust.

I ask the members of the Cuyahoga County Council to not vote to oblige your fellow council members, and not to vote because of the request made by the county executive, but to vote your conscience.  Put yourselves in the position of saying something, perhaps a little untoward or not meeting the “standards” of self-appointed morality police, but perfectly within your rights, and imagine someone deciding to sue you and being reimbursed so that the only one to bear the brunt of consequences is you, the unwitting defendant.

President Trump Meets and Surprises Jim Jordan in Ohio…

Representative Jim Jordan is the no-nonsense personification of the ‘git-r-done’ spirit that runs through the scruffy and beloved heart of MAGA.  An authentic guiding spirit that cannot be faked, scripted or duplicated.  Ya’ either have it…. or ya’ don’t; it’s that simple.

In another example for the keen political instincts of President Trump; he can tell from the automatic vibe that jumped in the air when he said the name “Jim Jordan”; the President calls Jordan to the stage…. and another authentic MAGA moment happens spontaneously.

Remember, Jim Jordan said in an interview just a few weeks ago that he had never met President Trump, and had never personally talked to him.  However, when POTUS Trump senses the crowds response to the words “Jim Jordan” he immediately identifies the importance and value.  WATCH the instinctual evolution:

.

This is why POTUS travel and MAGA events are so valuable. Prior to today…. prior to this exact moment…. by custom and political tradition -as well as input from the circle around the office- President Trump was likely to support Kevin McCarthy as a natural SoH predecessor.

Not any more.

McCarthy doesn’t inspire that response.

POTUS Trump was just introduced to the MAGA inspirational and aspirational value of Speaker Jordan. Remember this moment; it matters.

See that look right there in that last picture? Watch it again if needed. Look at that moment closely.

What that is… is POTUS Trump seeing a Diamond in a coal mine.

There’s a spirit, a sense, a guiding force, that put that moment in Ohio together…. And it will have long, bigly, ramifications within MAGA and our nation… watch, you’ll see.

Republican state senator Troy Balderson winning Ohio’s 12th district is important; but Speaker of The House Jim Jordan is far more valuable to the historic needs of President Trump.

Guess what?….

He just noticed.

And he doesn’t miss this stuff…

It’s right there:

Providence!

We have angels on our shoulders.

Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro was delivering a speech today with a national military parade and all the structured festivities.  During the remarks, an explosion was heard, and several seconds later the crowd responded to state police rushing toward them. .

According to initial reporting there was a possible drone attack against the Maduro regime.  However, given the nature of the Maduro government, there is also strong opinion the attack was staged by the government to elicit sympathy.
