Putin verses Merkel
Public Confidence in Russia is Down
Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Oct 31, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
The world forgets that war only benefits a select few who safely sit in their ivory towers while the general population suffers. Antidepressant prescriptions soared by 70% in the first nine months of 2022. The top comment online in response to this article began with, “I am sure some Russians are good, but….”
This would be akin to the world believing Americans are inherently bad due to our government’s part in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. Newsweek reported that Russians spent $81.1 million in those nine months on antidepressants. In Moscow, 1,300 packages were delivered per 10,000 adults. So 13% of the city is being treated for depression currently. RBK stated that the increase in antidepressant usage is due to war, fears of shortages, and sanctions. Antidepressant spending also increased after Putin announced a partial mobilization of troops on September 21.
A Russian public opinion fund survey found that around 70% of the population experienced anxiety after the mobilization announcement. Around 35% of participants in this particular study reported anxiety during the week of September 18, but that nearly doubled the following week to 65%.
Not every Russian citizen is lining up to die for their country, and it is safe to say most do not want war. Human nature is the same wherever you go, but overall rhetoric has demonized Russians for simply existing.
Any aspirations for a future have been put on hold as Russians are uncertain if they will be met with the full force of NATO. Grocery stores look very different today from less than a year ago, as common brands have been replaced with obscure knockoffs and some products are no longer available. Hundreds of thousands have fled their country, but they are not warmly received. It is becoming increasingly difficult for Russians to leave their homeland, and those who are forced to stay fear what is to come.
Lithuania holds military drills with NATO allies

Lithuania is staging its largest ever military training maneuvers alongside NATO allies. Lithuanian Chief of Defense, General Valdemaras Rupsys and Lieutenant Colonel Marco Maulbecker, a German commander at the NATO multinational battlegroup both said the exercise is a chance to show that NATO is ready to defend its area.
Climate Change War – US v Russia
Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Oct 27, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
As senior U.S. military officers deployed to NATO’s front line against Russia on the border with Ukraine have boasted that they are ready to join the fight. This provoked a response from Russia’s ambassador to the United States told Newsweek that such a move would bring about catastrophic ramifications. The commanders of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division who are now stationed just a few miles from the Romanian border with Ukraine are also making comments that they were ready to cross over in response to any escalation or attack on NATO.
This is all calling into question who the hell is the real commander and chief? President Joe Biden has repeatedly stated he was not going to send U.S. soldiers into Ukraine itself. The US has NOT sent troops to the borders of NATO since World War II. The National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby rushed to then say that “nothing has changed about the commander-in-chief’s decision that there will be no American troops fighting inside Ukraine.” This is raising serious concerns about who is really in charge and do we have a military so eager to jump in that we end up in WWIII because of all of this nonsense.
Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said, “we have already officially pointed out to high-ranking members of the US Government that such bravura statements by the U.S. Army commanders are inadmissible.” He further warned that Moscow would take these comments seriously. Behind the curtain, there is serious concern that Biden is just a puppet and has no idea that his administration is pushing the world to WWIII.
Antonov added: “We are not going to tolerate a situation where military threats are mounting on Russian borders… Direct participation of the U.S. military in the fighting will lead to disastrous consequences. I am convinced that further aggravation of the situation is not in Washington’s interests.”
There is absolutely no reason for the US to have troops stationed on the border. Russia is not interested in invading NATO and they too realize what that would mean. Stationing the Hard Rock Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), only increases the chance of war just like in Vietnam. This has been the first time in nearly 80 years that troops have been sent in this manner.
The Russian ambassador Antonov warned that “Washington is becoming increasingly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, turning the country’s territory into a battlefield with Russia.” If Russia sent nukes to Venezuela or stationed troops in Mexico, I seriously doubt the US would stand by silently.
Our War Model globally turned up in 2014 as I laid out at the 2011 World Economic Conference. I have warned that history will call this the Climate Change War. The Biden Administration is being run by climate zealots telling us our pets have to eat bugs along with us and they want to impose a federal tax to even have a pet of several thousand dollars to reoccur annually no less. These zealots want to wipe out Russia because they produce energy and that is 50% of the GDP. Having Ukrainians die for climate change is no problem – there are too many people anyway.
Even the Cuban Missile Crisis on a 51.6-year calculation turned back up on May 4th, 2014. The next 8.6-year wave will be 2023.008 which will be January 3rd, 2023. The peak of that wave will then be 2027.308 which is April 9th, 2027. These people have reignited the U.S.-Russia rivalry intensifying to levels not seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Zelensky is sacrificing his country for money. You do not put your entire nation at risk for a strip of land that has always been occupied by Russians for centuries. He takes his orders from the Biden Administration and it is public knowledge that he was told not to negotiate for peace.
These Climate Change Zealots are bringing the world to complete disaster over total nonsense when Climate Change has been a natural cycle for millions of years. They ignore the history of the planet past 1850 because they want to simply blame everything on the Industrial Revolution. They have confused pollution with climate change and will not address that there have been warming periods and ice ages without people driving their SUVs.
The military always wants war. They get to play with all their cool stuff. They have been using Ukraine to study Russia’s tactics and weapons. This has been a fantastic learning experience for the military. The problem this time, one Russian nuclear sub can surface offshore and fire 60 nukes and we will not be able to shoot them all down.
New Interview: The Plot to Seize Russia

Commentary from Rico Potkaars:
"Historian and Economist Martin Armstrong, as a computer programmer created the system called socrates that analyses history, current affairs and the flow of money and extrapolates to what may lie ahead. It gave him the nickname ‘the Forecaster’ and a documentary that to this day is forbidden in the USA. Armstrong through FOIA retreived information from the Clinton Library about what happened after the Soviet Union fell. He’s written that down in a book called ‘the Plot to Seize Russia. In this interview we discuss his upcoming book, the current state of collapsing global finance and the inescapable war on Russia as a result of that.."
Russia v USA
Armstrong Economics Blog/Russia Re-Posted Oct 10, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
Reports are coming in from a protest in Moscow against the United States after the Ukrainian attack upon the Crimea Bridge Saturday. Russians are calling for nuking Washington DC. No matter what country you go to, there is always going to be a pro-government and an anti-government position. The Ukrainian propaganda keeps claiming that some sort of revolution against Putin and he has ordered the arrest of military officers. But there are no independent sources that verify anything being put out by Ukraine, which tends to be fake news on so many levels. They will continue to wage a propaganda war in hopes that someone will listen and overthrow Putin. But my sources are very good. Putin is the moderate and I would be seriously concerned if he was overthrown for it would be by the hardlines who have been criticizing him for NOT being aggressive enough.
The Russian government did drive TWO “YARS” Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM’s) on the street in front of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. This is a failed proxy war to overthrow Russia for climate change. These people think overthrowing Putin and the people will cheer and end energy production which is 50% of Russia’s GDP. Look, there is no talking to these people. They believe what they want to believe and that is our problem. Nobody stops to ask: What if we are wrong?
My concern for timing remains the week of November 7th as well as next April.
New World Order v Status Quo
Armstrong Economics Blog/Politics Re-Posted Oct 9, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
QUESTION: “This New World Order will fail. ” assume status quo fails
before NWO fails… what will the new status quo look like?
ANSWER: We all have opinions. In times like these, the personal opinion does not help very much for as Julius Caesar said, people believe what they want to believe. Those who want to believe in the end of the world will assert that the NWO will succeed. Those who want to believe in the opposite will do so all on their own. My opinion is not the foundation of the forecast by our computer. So you will see people attack me and say I am wrong all because they merely assert that their opinion is better than mine. What they fail to grasp here is the forecast is not based on my personal opinion or beliefs. They are irrelevant. We have been the largest institutional adviser in the world BECAUSE clients KNOW this is NOT my opinion.
That said, even when Marxism was the rallying cry back in 1917, it did not merely take control passively. Over 200 million died in civil wars trying to stop communism in both Russia and in China. Anyone who thinks that this NWO will simply seize control of everything in the middle of the night peacefully neither understand history, nor human nature. There is no way this NWO will simply seize control of the entire world.
This very proxy war using Ukraine as the spearhead to overthrow Russia is part of this agenda. These people are counting on Putin being overthrown, Russia being defeated, and it will simply collapse and being taken over by the West. It is the very same theory of the Neocons about the Middle East to overthrow the dictators and the people will cheer and hand them some sort of ticker-tape parade as if they were liberated from a foreign invader like Hitler when they are the foreign invader. That too is a deranged self-delusional theory that they just want to believe.
They have demonized Putin and that is part of the strategy. The downside is that the average person then applies that to all Russians as we are seeing in many places. Even on eBay, there are people who want all Russians banned. Go to many bars and you will see that any Russian vodka has been withdrawn. The hatred against all Russians is reaching a serious level in society. Even the Czech Republic has ordered the seizure of all assets belonging to any Russian whatsoever. Ukraine long considered the most corrupt government in Europe if not the world, has been confiscating the assets of any Russian as well. They had PayPal seizing money from people for spreading “misinformation” about COVID.
This idea of a NWO will fail. The status quo is collapsing and we will be entering civil chaos next year and eventually World War III. This is not going to be a mere walk in the park. We are looking at another Sovereign Debt default just as took place in 1840 and then 1931. For those who do not know their history, the US paid off all its debt in 1834. Andrew Jackson’s Bank War to destroy the Bank of the United States led to private banks issuing their own money.
That led to what collectors call the Broken Banknote period following the Panic of 1837. That led to Sovereign Debt defaults at the State level. The US austerity at the federal level contributed to the subsequent Civil War thanks to Jackson’s war on the banks. This merely exasperated the regional tensions between North & South where the position against slavery in the North predicated on religious beliefs was actually undermining the economy of the South that then manifested into the age-old battle between federalism and state’s rights. That continues to this day for other reasons that were heightened by COVID.
If you just look at Britain and Liz Truss’s approach to this economic crisis, the new British government has become a symbol of a global political crisis. These fools have created shortages with COVID and then they have been cheering Ukraine on to try to cause the collapse of Russia without a second thought about what would the world economy be like even if that happened. We have people at the helm of governments who are incompetent and believe only what the teleprompters tell them to believe. Anyone who thinks this NWO will simply slip into place without a fuss is simply delusional. There is going to be sheer chaos on the street next year. Biden’s administration is ONLY concerned about ending fossil fuels. They want a total ban on all offshore drilling. They have no plan to even provide an alternative when it would take at least a 400% increase in the power grid just for electric cars. Then there are heating homes in the winter nobody seems to think about.
As I have said, if Putin was really trying to conquer Ukraine, the first thing you do is take out the power grid. That will be even more devastating if everything is electric.
The Rising Risk of Nuclear War in 2023
Armstrong Economics Blog/Russia Re-Posted Oct 7, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
QUESTION: What do you think about Russia’s setbacks?
ANSWER: All of this is a gamble with the hope that Russia will simply crumble to dust and the West will conquer Russia once and for all. Right now, sources in Russia say that the criticism is attacking the military leadership that they have been just too arrogant and underestimated Ukraine, and the fact that this is really a proxy war. My fear is that there are still a lot of hardliners there who look back upon the days of the USSR fondly.
China would be a fool as would North Korea if they stood by and allowed Russia to crumble to its knees. They cannot be that stupid not realizing that they will be next. The Computer projects 2023 as the year of political hell. January is a key period as will be April 2023. I would not start counting the laurels for Ukraine just yet. This is not over and the worst is yet to come. The threat of nuclear war rises in 2023.
With the Western Press cheering the fall of Russia, they are only contributing to the prospect of a major escalation and the use of nukes. The US has been buying medicine for radiation poisoning. They know what they are doing and could care less how many civilians are wiped out. Their view – the population needs to be reduced anyhow.
Poland Goes Nuclear as NATO Breaks Past Promises
Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted Oct 6, 2022 by Martin Armstrong
The war in Ukraine escalated as a direct result of NATO’s interference. Russia felt backed into a corner, on the defensive, and felt it had no choice but to invade Ukraine in response to heightened tensions with NATO. Even the pope came out and said that NATO was antagonizing Russia by “barking at the Gates of Russia.”
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) originally wanted Russia to join after the Soviet Union was dissolved. Although Russia did not join, relations with NATO were strong. In 1997, NATO reported that they planned to build “lasting and inclusive peace in the Euro-Atlantic area on the principles of democracy and cooperative security” with Russia. NATO also claimed that it would not deploy nuclear measures against Russia.
"The member States of NATO reiterate that they have no intention, no plan and no reason to deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of new members, nor any need to change any aspect of NATO's nuclear posture or nuclear policy - and do not foresee any future need to do so. This subsumes the fact that NATO has decided that it has no intention, no plan, and no reason to establish nuclear weapon storage sites on the territory of those members, whether through the construction of new nuclear storage facilities or the adaptation of old nuclear storage facilities. Nuclear storage sites are understood to be facilities specifically designed for the stationing of nuclear weapons, and include all types of hardened above or below ground facilities (storage bunkers or vaults) designed for storing nuclear weapons."
If peace in the euro area was of top importance, this situation would have de-escalated back in February. Now, bordering countries are increasing their nuclear capabilities. Poland has announced that they are willing to host nuclear weapons provided by the US. The head of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jarosław Kaczyński, “fully supports” the proposition. However, Poland is freeing itself of any responsibility. Duda said that the weapons of mass destruction “would not be a nuclear weapon under the control of Poland. Participation in nuclear sharing does not imply having your own nuclear weapon.”
France, the United Kingdom, and America are the only three NATO members with their own nuclear weapons. Yet, they store nuclear weapons in strategic places such as Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Belgium. These countries will be able to strengthen their national security while alleviating the full burden of being in control of nuclear weapons.
