Politicians from around the globe gather annually in the UNFCCC meetings so they can propose and fail to come to worthwhile agreements on how to limit global warming and its impacts.  Year in, year out, same thing.  For the results of the most recent failed gathering, see the WattsUpWithThat post GWPF Welcomes Non-Binding And Toothless UN Climate Deal.  One of the primary factors that drive the politicians is an attempt to limit global warming to 2-deg C above preindustrial values, where preindustrial is considered the mid-to-late 1800s.

But where did that 2 deg C limit come from?

BREAKING – Grand Jury Determines “No Indictment” In NYPD Eric Garner Case


Without having all the facts it doesn’t look like a choke hold to me! This maybe like calling a civilian semiautomatic rifle an assault rifle. because it looks like M4 carbine (which is a short barred version of the military M-16). The big difference is the the M-16 or M4 can fire auto meaning when the trigger is pulled and held the rifle will fire until the magazine is empty. All civilian version require a trigger pull for each round fired just like the old western 6 shooters. Define the word and you define the message!

On a Personal Note…


You and your dad have my prayers!

I don’t normally do this kind of thing in this blog, but we’re trying to get as many prayers as we can.

We had to take my dad to the ER yesterday, and he is still in the hospital. We’re not 100% sure yet what is wrong, but it does involve his brain and he is apparently going to need surgery this coming week. The doctor has not been in to talk to him yet, so we only have half the story.

Dad could use some prayers. He is not what you would call a positive person. He’s convinced himself he is going to die. He did the same thing before heart surgery several years ago and came through it fine, but still. My gut is telling me he’ll be fine, and normally I trust my gut, but…
