A weekend in Conneaut, Ohio attending a D Day reenactment of the landing of Allied Troupe’s at Normandy on June 6 1944.

A Vietnam era friend of mine and his wife and mine decided to drive out to Conneaut and watch the Reenactment of the D Day landing at Normandy. However. since it was a multi-day event and it was a good hour and a half drive we found an Airbnb home in Ashtabula which was nearby that we could rent. We left early on August 15th and went to the Reenactment first which gave us more time there.

We did spend most of the day at the Reenactment and had a good time there looking at the military set up and also looking at what venders had. The people in the Reenactments were by invite only and they had to have prior experience and uniforms, web gear and weapons that were from that period or new stuff made to the same specification of what was used then. All the participants were organized into the units they represented; American, British and others. They had tents set up and you could go and talk to them about what the unit they represented did that day and beyond as the allied armies moved toward Germany.

Besides the D Day landing there were also reenactments of several key battles that the American led invasion got into with the German army. They were well done. There is a picture of the beach landings.

Next is a short video (MP4 file). I was having trouble with my phone when trying to record videos as the sun was to my back and shining on the phone so I could not see what I was recording. The one that follows was the only decent one I got. I should have brought my Camera.

After the Reenactment we drove to Ashtabula, had dinner and then went to the Airbnb. When we got to the home we had some surprises that makes this trip very interesting. First the house was on a steep hill that was paved with the original pavers so it was a bit scary getting up to the house and onto the drive way to the home which was about half way to the top. After parking the car we got out, walked over to the steps going to the front porch, got our key, and then went to open the front door where we saw on right side of the front door there was a large bronze plaque picture below

This plaque was installed by the present owner of the house. It was a well made plaque refering to when the house was first made. We opened the door and walked  in, unloaded the car and after getting settled we found it was a very well done updated home. We also found a book with the history of the city and the home and found that the plaque was more accurate than we thought. The .house was a brothel and so it was a real whore House and not an oar house which was a very clever wording by the owners.

Apparently, during this period the house was built when the steel industry was developing and ore was going into Ohio and Ashtabula had a more efficient unloading system than Cleveland and so they were very busy. So there were a lot of men that were working here and the prostitution business was flourishing. We had a lot of fun talking about sleeping in a whore house, while we were there.

Later that evening we had one more surprise. While sitting in the front room watching the TV, I noticed that the book shelf next to it looked odd so I walked over to check it out.

After checking it out I saw that it was really a door to someplace and so I opened it and this is what was in inside there.

This was what I saw, which was sure not anything I expected. I did not check to see if it was a real monster or a doll. To the lower left of the doll were the stairs to the basement but after seeing that Doll we decided not to go down there … lol

The last day we were there we also tock a look at a number of Covered Bridges in that area. They were all on dirt/gravel roads. My wive’s granparents lived in this area and she remembered some of the places we pased through.

All in all we had a great time including spenting the weekend in a “oar”  house .

PS For the entire time I was there I could bot get my laptop to onnect to the internet. I had the code and that has never happened to me before? Maybe it was good that I didn’t go down to the basement!

Can we All Get Along?

COMMENT: Mr Armstrong,
THANK YOU  VERY MUCH !!!  for telling your readers of the true nature of the Hamas; God bless you for telling the truth.
Millions of the impoverished people of Gaza live in fear of these thugs.
History shows Jews, Arabs, and Christians CAN, yes, CAN live together in peace, and it is the politicians or extremist groups, inhuman groups like Hamas, that kindle the fire of hatred.

Human beings can be both strong and weak at the same time. When they fall into the trap of hatred, it is very difficult to get out of it; see what happened in Northern Ireland for many years.
No one in Israel gets up in the morning wishing to ‘take care’ of the Palestinians; they can take care of themselves if only their leaders will not rob them blind and stuff their brains with poisonous ideology.

George Soros: This creature that looks to have a human shape is not a human being at all; it is one of the most despicable creatures on the planet Earth.
God delays taking him back, I guess, because even God will be annoyed to have him around up there!

Wishing you always the best,
Ronnie

REPLY: I have been throughout the region. I have driven through the West Bank and spoken to both Israelis and Palestinians. I have explored the entire area and even took the first flight between Israel and Egypt when relations began. The common people get along. This documentary, The Heart of Jenin, is a 2008 documentary film written and directed by Marcus Vetter and Leon Geller. This film is important to watch for it reveals the story of Ismael Khatib from Jenin, a Palestinian whose son was shot by Israeli soldiers by mistake because he had a toy gun.

Instead of seeking revenge, he donated his son’s organs to Israeli children. In April 2010, The Heart of Jenin won the German Film Award for Best Documentary Film. What this film shows is the common people – not the political hatred of extremists who live for violence no different than our American Neocons who love war and have no problem sacrificing your children for their political agendas. When Field Marshall Goring was put on trial at Nuremberg, he explained something that is so true, but it is never discussed in school and certainly never by mainstream press, which has become the cheerleader for World War III.

Goring was absolutely correct. Those in charge love war and manipulate the people for their own objectives. Hamas wants Israel to kill Palestinian civilians for their own agenda. Suffice it to say I also have a source who knew those directing young Arabs to do suicide bombings. As the source told me, those people would NEVER kill themselves – they always preach others to do that for their agenda.

Our CI wanted to kill American civilians so they could blame it on Cuba to justify invading the island. President Kennedy said no way. That is why the CIA refuses to release all the Kennedy documents because most people believe they took out Kennedy.

THE MURDER OF JFK

I believe the entire Watergate Affair was set up by the CIA because Nixon knew the CIA had assassinated Kennedy. The Watergate scandal involved the five men caught on June 17, 1972, burglarizing the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in the Watergate complex. Their two handlers were E. Howard Hunt of the CIA and G. Gordon Liddy of the FBI. They were Nixon campaign aides. Nixon wanted to end Vietnam and he knew the CIA was behind the Kennedy Assassination because they wanted war and BELIEVED that Russia was involved.

Before the Neocon Robert Macnamara died, he came out and admitted that they were wrong about Vietnam. That was nice, but 58,000 Americans died for that mistake, and untold millions of Vietnamese.

We are always looked down upon as their pawns to be played. If it is Hamas, CIA, or any government body, they will ALWAYS act in their own self-interest, which is NEVER for the benefit of the people. The only solution to war is to throw the warmongers in a closed room and let them fight it out and leave the common people alone.

To the Seven Green Berets that Were KIA in Vietnam During the Months of October, November & December 1967 at the Fifth Special Forces CIDG Camp Bu Dop A-341, May their Souls Rest in Peace they were all Good Men

There are three other Berets that were there that were WIA and we will soon be joining you my brothers.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~

Every year I post this video. I am very proud to have called the little town of Ringgold, Georgia my home for many years. Every year we drive back down to spend the few minutes it takes to go through town, the main stretch and all the little side roads, and appreciate the flags, and honor the fallen.

May the blood cost of our freedom be increasingly appreciated and honored. And may America always be blessed with towns and people like this, who remember and honor our fallen because they value our freedom and know the cost.

If you hijack this post with political content that belongs on the other threads I will put you in moderation. This is a memorial in remembrance of our dead. Not a place to rant.

Rotterdam Blitz 1940

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted May 22, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

QUESTION: Regarding WWII Who Bombed Cities First
How does the bombing of the historical center of Rotterdam/Netherlands in May 1940 fits the picture? It seems Germany started bombing civilian targets.
Kind regards, Marco

ANSWER: The bombing of Rotterdam was different. There the Germans invaded and troops were fighting in the city.  The stories that were put out of 100,000 civilians dead were fake news. The civilian population had already fled because there was an invasion and the troops on both sides were battling it out in the city in a gorilla-style warfare.

The Germans subjected Rotterdam to heavy aerial bombardment by the Luftwaffe to support the German troops fighting in the city, and to force the Dutch army to surrender which was using the buildings in gorilla-style warfare. The bombing began with the start of hostilities on May 10th for four days into May 14th. Many have called this the Rotterdam Blitz. When the facts were sorted out, the official list published in 2022, revealed that at least 1,150 people were killed and 85,000 more were left homeless – a far cry from the fake news of war that 100,000 civilians dies in the bombing. As I have said, the first casualty of war is always the truth.

Nevertheless, at the end of the day, there are always more civilians who die in war than soldiers. That is the reality of all wars. The Iraq invasion was no different. This is why many consider the real war criminals to be the leaders who begin wars.

The “gentlemen’s agreement” did not apply to a troop invasion. The French bombing of the Siemens factory on June 7th, 1940 took place during the Battle of France (May 10, 1940 – Jun 25, 1940). However, it was targeting a military target. France and the Low Countries were conquered, ending land operations on the Western Front until the Normandy landings on June 6th, 1944.

The British bombing of Berlin was a retaliation that went too far and was meant to instill fear in the German population much as the US nuclear bombs dropped on two cities in Japan. I do not believe we will see a gentlemen’s agreement in World War III. I would bet that the capital cities will be attacked on both sides.

WWII Who Bombed Cities First?

Armstrong Economics Blog/War Re-Posted May 22, 2023 by Martin Armstrong

QUESTION: Hi Marty,
May I ask your indulgence? Am trying to come to terms with my own ignorance of real history and figured that if someone as smart as you made the same error as I, wouldn’t feel as bad (good company and all that).
The German Blitz, the bombing of London, is a classic historical reference to the evil Hitler and the stoic peaceful Brits. Some claim that Churchill ordered the bombing of German cities first, and Hitler retaliated.
So here goes (no peeking):
Which of Great Britain or Germany was the first to bomb the cities/civilians of the other country during WWII?
Now, you may infer the answer b/c of the setup, but did you know that? I sure didn’t. Feeling a bit gaslit.
How about you?
All the best,
Greg

ANSWER: Yes. History is written by the victor – not the loser. It is not politically correct, to tell the truth. The only way to confirm the truth is to resort to contemporary reports before history is assembled. As I have explained, governments will engage in physiological warfare and this goes back to ancient times.

Augustus’ confrontation with Mark Antony was sold to the people that Antony was under some spell of the evil Cleopatra. He was actually telling the truth, for Cleopatra funded Mark Antony and pushed for civil war so that Egypt would thus conquer Rome. When Augustus (Octavian) defeated Antony at the Battle of Actium and invaded Egypt, he issued a coin announcing his victory. Look closely. It simply displays a crocodile on the reverse announcing Egypt is captured – not that he defeated a fellow Roman. Emperor Claudius was born to Drusus, brother of Emperor Tiberius, and Antonia Minor, the daughter of Mark Antony.

Perhaps the most daming confirmation of Cleopatra’s plot was that she struck Roman denarii with her and Antony’s portrait. These were certainly not struck in Rome or by any official Roman mint. They were part of her campaign to conquer Rome just as the West has always been seeking to conquer Russia which had the largest gold reserves of any nation up until the Communist Revolution of 1917.

We must always look closely at war for indeed the first casualty is always the truth. There was a gentlemen’s agreement that all sides would only bomb military targets and not cities at the start of WWII. Yes, Hitler also agreed. Modern history portrays Hitler as just evil in every respect. There were rules to warfare that everyone adhered to at the beginning of the war.

The first air raid on the German capital city of Berlin was actually carried out at night by an antiquated French bomber which had been a cargo plane converted for bombing. As it approached Berlin at midnight on June 7th, 1940, the city was fully illuminated thanks to the gentlemen’s agreement. The pilot, Henri Yonnet, pretended to act as though they were landing at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport. As they neared the field, they overflew and headed at a very low altitude to the real target – the Siemens factory. It was a daring maneuver for the plane was vulnerable and could even be impacted by the blast at such a low altitude.

On August 17th, 1940, the German Luftwaffe dropped bombs on a factory in Southwestern London which was unfortunately in a residential neighborhood. On August 25th, 1940, the British RAF launched its first raid on Berlin in retaliation for the German bombing of London apparently using the excuse that some residential properties were hit. The gentlemen’s agreement was null-and-void. Hitler responded by unleashing the Blitz, (September 7th, 1940–May 11th, 1941), with a relentless intense bombing campaign of London. For eight months the Luftwaffe dropped bombs on London and other strategic cities across Britain. The attacks were authorized by Germany’s chancellor, Adolf Hitler after the British carried out a nighttime air raid on Berlin. The offensive came to be called the Blitz after the German word blitzkrieg (“lightning war”).
